TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

oh cedar you poor poor thing. Hope you're ok? Are you sure the pains were definately from that side? I get pains too and haven't a clue which side its coming from. I'm so excited about TTC this month and am about to ovulate at some point soon I hope, I keep trying the OTK but there is always only one line!! I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I just can't help it, I just know I'm going to be so so dissapointed when AF arrives as I'm sure it will at the end of the month.
How are you Lissie?

Hi pink elephant, pretty sure pains were from that side did have a bit of pain from other side but a lot worse on no tube side. Last month when I ovulated it made me feel really rough pain like the ep on the left where I still have a tube and lots of cramps.
I have heard that a tube can pick up eggs from the other ovary but I think this is quite rare.
I have used otk before and they can be confusing, some people on mn reccomend testing twice a day so you dont miss surge. Aitch recomended the Toni Welscher book to me and it worth a read. I have started temping and dont find it to much hassle.

am ok. just entering fertile time by my reckoning, so am wavering on the not ttc front. im sooooo tempted!

lissielou · 18/04/2007 09:20

cedar, will keep everything crossed for you honey!

cedar12 · 18/04/2007 09:45

Any news about taking the aspirin lissie? My friend took it because she has lupus a clotting disorder. Her blood was to thick which was why she kept on mc. Are they going to give to you for risk of ep or mc. Sorry I am very nosey.

lissielou · 18/04/2007 09:50

the nurse wanted to prescribe some, but the consultant wanted to wait

cedar12 · 18/04/2007 10:39

Drs are so cautious sometimes

lissielou · 18/04/2007 10:40

tbh, at this stage im tempted to just start taking it anyway.

cedar12 · 18/04/2007 12:21

Be careful if you do decide to take it. It would only be a small dose. Its so frustrating waiting for other people to more decision about you isnt it.

PinkElephant · 18/04/2007 18:22

Lissie - yes be careful of the aspirin dose as cedar says. The dose you buy over the counter is more than the dose they would give you for fertility reasons. Also had two friends that took it after many miscarriages with great success.

would junior asprin work? rang up fertility clinic today to ask about my blood results and they wont give me them over the phone, just said to not ttc til we see the doc. thats a bad sign isnt it?

cedar12 · 19/04/2007 09:55

Sorry was at work last night. What were the blood test for, were they day2 and day 21 test to see if you are ovulating. If so you must be ovulating as you can get pg but sadly lose them Might not be a bad sign lots of drs dont like giving results over the phone. A pain I know. Its so horrid waiting june must seem an age away. I dont know if this would be an option but you can usually see a consultant privatley for about £100 if you couldnt wait.
I am really not sure reguarding the dose of an aspirin for fertility reasons. I work in elderly care so not much of an expert I am afraid.
Dh really pissing me off at the moment been really quiet all week and got really annoyed with me when I wanted to talk to him about my frind being pg. He has hardly talked to me all week apart from to moan about something. Men are crap, been asking him all week what wrong all he says is i am tired. I could ring his neck at the moment.

cedar12 · 19/04/2007 10:12

Lissie this might answer some questions \link{http://www.sharedjourney.com/articles/aspirin.html
I hope this works first time I have done a link. Make interesting reading.

cedar12 · 19/04/2007 10:13

My link didnt work hope you can get it from this.

99redballoons · 19/04/2007 13:45

Hi girls It's a pretty bleugh month for everyone isn't it. AF arrived two days ago, brings it all back, haven't had one since Jan and again you just feel that somethings missing..

To top it off dd now has c-pox, two wks to the day after ds (over Easter!). So she's helping me keep my mind off everything, poor
litte thing just plays through it but you can tell she's completely run down.

Thinking of you all.

cedar12 · 19/04/2007 15:47

Poor dd 99rb it horrid getting cpox in this weather. My dd got it when she was about 18 months and it was a nightmare. I found giving her some piriton syrup as well as lots of calamine helped. Hope your all feeling better soon.

lissielou · 19/04/2007 17:31

cedar, thats fab, and v interesting. am just sick of all this now. the only baby that wanted to stick around was in the wrong place and im fed up of trying not to blame something iykwim!

99rb, {{{hug}}} hope you all feel better soon!

cedar12 · 19/04/2007 18:47

I know what you mean about blaming people Lissie. I feeling so annoyed that everyone else life just carries on and I am stuck.

lissielou · 20/04/2007 07:36

it makes me so angry. and when i hear about people mc-ing or having an ep i think "oh poor thing" then i see a hugely pg lady waddling around and (im ashamed to say this) im furious with her!

start a counselling course today, they'll have a field day with me!

cedar12 · 20/04/2007 07:43

Glad I am not the only one. I was doing ok until my friend at work told me she was pg.
I know its only a couple of months since ep and everyone keeps telling me its earley days but all in all we have been trying for a 2nd baby for 2 1/2 years!

lissielou · 20/04/2007 07:46

tbh i dont think anyone can understand the pain unless theyve been thru it. when do you see the consultant next?

cedar12 · 20/04/2007 16:51

Not until september, If I am not pg in the next couple of month I might make private appointment. I am going to set a date then possibily look into other options, maybe ivf but I really dont want to go down that road unless really have to. I but cant wait another year or two endlessly tcc like we were before last ep. But I suppose we are in a better position this time as last time we tcc and my tube was blocked which they didnt test for until 18 months after first ep. But at least its open now and according the the drs looks pretty good but that what they said before second ep. Better go and cook tea been out all day dd really tired and grumpy.
I have decieded to not tcc until June?

99redballoons · 20/04/2007 19:26

cedar/lissie, I have this really long email that I compiled for a friend's friend who had been trying for ages (ttc 2+ yrs, then mc at 7wks, trying again). It covers lots of the info I found out after my first mc. Not sure if you want to have a read, it's just too much to post. CAT me if you do (or I can CAT you).

Thx for the cpox tips. Dd had a terrible night last night, I ended up sleeping on her floor she wouldn't let me out of the room. Had to take her to the docs today as there was dried blood inside her ear(hole). Apparently secondary infection caused by cp in her ears Poor little thing. Have set up a proper mattress in there for tonight, expecting a repeat performance!

lissielou · 20/04/2007 21:09

dont have cat 99rb but if you could send it to me thatd be great.

got some 75mg asprin today from asda, it says on front that its for people with clotting disorders so i think ill just try my luck with it in the 2nd half of my cycle. one of the little buggers will have to stick eventually and if i can do anything to encourage that i will! at this point ill do anything!

AitchTwoOh · 20/04/2007 21:14

that's what i took, lissie. but i just took it, didn't really mention it to the doc so am not advising you to do same. iykwim? but that's the dose i took.

i hope the counselling goes well for you, after my crappy things i honestly felt like i was being stalked by pregnant women. i used to sid by my window and think terrible thoughts. it's all normal stuff i reckon. [hugs lissie]
