TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

oh hell. i got spotting with dd as well as the others. i hope that it will work out for you this time. [hug]

cedar12 · 08/04/2007 08:45

Lissie I really hope this one holds on. Thinking of you.

99redballoons · 09/04/2007 17:46

Hi lissie, what type of spotting? I had this with all four of my pgs (two successful) and it varied from brown discharge to red spotting. I know you automatically think the worst but one of my bf's 'bled' for the first 13wks in varying degrees, she even thought she miscarried, went for a scan at 6.5wks and found the heart beating v strong!

[[[hugs]] Fingers crossed for you.

99redballoons · 09/04/2007 18:41

That is on and off spotting between 4-7wks.

lissielou · 11/04/2007 10:29

its official, my bean has gone. dont know what to think or do but taking a break from ttc. cant believe this has happened again

99redballoons · 11/04/2007 16:30

Oh god lissielou, I'm so sorry. hugs]]

You know how crazy and mixed up I was about everything a few weeks ago, well, since making the decision to have a break for a while I feel sooo much better. We ideally didn't want a Dec/Jan baby (though ofcourse would happily have one!) so whilst still waiting for my AF to arrive and the decision to not ttc till the summer, I feel a weight off my shoulders. My body is resting, not only from no more bf or pg (got pg two months after stopping bf my dd who was 11 month at the time), but no more stress/anxiety, I hope, for a little while.

So maybe having a break from all this would be good for you? Concentrate on dh and ds. Go away for a long weekend in May? Ofcourse I don't know all of your history and I'm sorry if I'm speaking out of turn. again

lissielou · 11/04/2007 16:32

go on hol at the end of may, so will wait til i get mt test results back before ttc again. i just ache now, every baby that ive lost hurts like crazy and i dont think my body can cope with much more. the last mc was vv painful considering i was only 4w

cedar12 · 12/04/2007 07:54

So sorry Lissie. Lifes not fair

PinkElephant · 12/04/2007 09:33

Oh lissie I'm so sorry for you as well. Its all so cruel that you have to go through this again and again.....I think sometimes you get to the stage where you just can't take anymore so maybe a break would be an idea. I don't know what to say but thinking of you.

Cedar - so glad to hear your good news from the HSG. That must be such a relief. I have my consultants appoint tomorrow, hope I'm going to be told to get on and try again.

Had a scan yesterday, saw the baby and heartbeat. It was laying on its back and looked all relaxed There is a pic on my profile.

99redballoons · 12/04/2007 10:25

Sparkly

Lissie, I'm not sure if you do this or not, and I'm not sure if it really does make any difference or not, but I thought I'd pass this info on.

Do you take Zinc supplements aswell as Folic acid?

I didn't take this for my 1st or 4th pg's which both resulted in mc (blighted ovum -which is why I think there's something to this), but for my 2nd & 3rd I took zinc for about 2 months before we started ttc. Both DH and myself took these. It's supposed to promote healthy eggs and sperm, focussing on quality. We would each take 2 pills = 30mg zinc every day. I would take just one if I was taking pregnacare or a multivit that had zinc in it. We got the source from here

This is another informative link about men.

I also quite like this website and this one

99redballoons · 12/04/2007 10:28

Also for both successful pg's neither dh or I drank alcohol (we don't smoke or drink coffee) for about 2 months leading up to ttc and during ttc.

PinkElephant · 12/04/2007 15:28

99rb - I was so good last year and it was the month before christmas when we had just about given up TTC and we had a few drinks...or more... that I got pregnant!! Typical

What great news sparkley, just saw the picture on your profile. Like Pe said you give me some hope as well.
Pink elephant good luck with your appointment hope all goes well. Let us know how you get on.
99 rb those websites make interesting reading.

99redballoons · 12/04/2007 17:01

Found all these links when I was ttc ds, a bit ott, but after that first mc you tend to go into that mode don't you! Thankfully I kept them and have forwarded them onto a few other friends who are having trouble ttc. But you can follow every rule in the book and it doesn't mean it will happen!

[shhh, my last pg was after a few drinks too PE! ]

lissielou · 15/04/2007 07:10

thank you 99rb, anythings worth a try now!

PinkElephant · 16/04/2007 17:53

We got the green light from my appoint with the consultant....hooray!! All in time for ovulation which should be the end of this week, I reckon....now where did I put those OTK and more to the point....where is hubby when you need him

AitchTwoOh · 16/04/2007 19:42

oh lissielou, i hadn't known this. i'm so very sorry to hear that the pregnancy didn't make it.
i tool zinc as well, and a low-dose aspirin and evening primrose (before period) and starflower... i was rattling, but it worked in the end. who knows if it made a difference?

Glimmer · 17/04/2007 04:38

Oh Lissie, Lissie -- I am so sorry, I do not know what to say.

lissielou · 17/04/2007 06:35

thank you all, aitch our nurse is trying to get the consultant to agree to asprin doses. and will def try the zinc. am torn now coz im coming up to what i guess is fertile time and i want to ttc but im scared to iykwim.

PE, fab news, happy humping

cedar12 · 17/04/2007 17:49

Pink elephant great news about getting the go ahead.
Lissie I know how you feel re ttc again its such a roller coaster one day I feel fine and then a feel like crap again. I hope you are having more good days than bad. Maybe waiting until you can get the go ahead with the aspirin would be a good idea. My friend took this after 5 mc and now has 3 dds.
I just ovulated and now feel like shit really went for it bd every day but when I had ov pain it was on the side that I have no tubefeel like its all been a waste of time this month. My friend at work is having a scan tomorrow to check her dates and I am so jealous. Sat at the traffic lights today and burst into tears. Probabley hormonal feel great the first half of the month and crap the next half.

lissielou · 17/04/2007 18:23

oh cedar, {{hug}} i wish i could make it all go away sweetheart!

cedar12 · 18/04/2007 08:19

Thanks Lissie feeling a bit better today. Are you ok?
