TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

well, the nurse was lovely. got loads of blood tests to be done, some on day 21 some on day 2. she also wants me to have an hsg. (luckily i knew what she was talking about) she was appalled at the standard of care i recieved said that there were loads of discrepancies in my notes and suggested off the record that if ivf is our only option we either lobby the nhs trust using our previous treatment as leverage or just out and out look for compo and use that to fund treatment. if i get pg naturally im to bypass my gp totally and contact the epu/fertility clinic immediately for a scan she also thinks i may benefit from extra folic acid and soluble asprin, but will wait for test results back.

cedar12 · 22/03/2007 08:06

I am so glad they had some good advise for you lissie. Will you have to wait for long for hsg? Its interesting what she said about extra folic acid and the aspirin. I presume the aspirin is to help with clotting?

PinkElephant · 22/03/2007 13:31

Oh Lissie I'm so glad you had a sympathetic ear this time. You see...there are some nice nurses out there....are there Cedar

lissielouwithbunnyears · 22/03/2007 19:15

can have HSG as soon as i want, next month if i prefer but she'd rather wait another m til we've had most of the other tests done

cedar12 · 22/03/2007 19:26

So glad things are finally getting moving for you lissie.

Lubyloo · 22/03/2007 22:26

It sounds like things are starting to happen for you now Lissie which is great.

Glad your HSGs went well Pink Elephant and Cedar. How's the pain now PE?

Hi all -- sorry to be intruding again. LissieWBE I have been following your story, although there are some bits of informations that have escaped me. I know that you have considered at some point to complain or sue.
I have recently written a number of complaint letters to the NHS trust, GP and private consultant and finally sent them off. I do not expect too much of a reply, but have to admit that expressing my frustration has made me feel much better and I have made some progress in trying to leave that traumatic time behind.

I realise that you must have many things on your mind that are probably more important to you than complaining, but I just thought I share...

lissielouwithbunnyears · 23/03/2007 18:50

glimmer, got another thread running at the mo with my complaint letter on it. the hospital have to respond within a set timescale. again you can CAT me at any time if you want!

cedar12 · 27/03/2007 16:13

cedar12 · 31/03/2007 15:27

Congratulations Lissie sounds really positive this time. I am sure bfp this early is a really good sign.
