Thread 10 ttc#1 The one where we're all really bored of hormones, the tww and cervical mucus or Why is my eggo not preggo!?

Symptom spotters, tww - ers, slightly hysterical hormone laden ladies! Regs, lurkers, intermittent posters! Our raison d'etre is 'am I pregnant?' Depending on how much Ovia (Whybird/Ovibitch) has pissed us off/messed with our fw she is either the oracle or a sanctimonious charlatan.

Just a warning, we move FAST! Our threads last on average, about a week before they're full.

Thread 10, Welcome one and all! Group of weirdos, wee hoarders, covert opk or okp, depending on what your autocorrect decides addicts with a side business in CM management!

We do not judge, we enjoy TMI, we i encourage waiting to poas nobody listens and all the grossness you can find from a group of intelligent, articulate ladies. Fart stories make us laugh, stories about cervical mucus, pooing, cysts and nausea equally welcome.

Post your stats and add your dates. We have a register thanks to kat, I have been dubbed the resident piss stick queen loaaaaaads of bfp'ers who keep us positive! We don't have rules, we love a good symptom spot, we try to stay grounded and not be hysterical sometimes we manage it aswell

We like acronyms, we make some up: PET = Proper expensive test. We love the d(h)...which can of course mean 'dearest' or 'dickhead' why, what were you thinking?

Feef, I didn't know that was a thing...whaaaaaaale. Does it make a difference? It's not like you let it go all the way...obviously... Blush

ElleSarcasmo · 10/02/2016 21:06

Hope so Lilian!

No Feefs, not abstaining here!

Feefeefs · 10/02/2016 21:07

I know I'm a bit upset by the whole thing googled something else and there it was! Apparently it's the saliva.

Lyssie · 10/02/2016 21:18

Damn Google, Feef!
Always taking the fun out of things...

Lyssie · 10/02/2016 21:27

Meadow
Responding to your post from much earlier about age: I'm glad I'm not the only baby trying to have a baby here!
I get judgement every day for marrying young. What people don't realize is how amazing it is to go through life alongside your best friend, how it is a gift and not the 'end of your life' haha.

rebeccajones · 10/02/2016 21:45

Hi. New to mums net. Trying to learn acronyms. 32, ttc 1, still having a glass of rose in the evening and trying to convince my OH to have sex every day. He is a mixture of can't believe his luck and confused! Wink

SuchaJem · 10/02/2016 21:47

Hello peaches and Rebecca :)

elle all it takes is one well timed shag. Fingers crossed for you.

rebeccajones · 10/02/2016 21:49

Lyssie - I wish I was still a baby. At 32 I feel like time is becoming compacted

StarkyTheDirewolf · 10/02/2016 21:52

I don't think it's necessarily judgement as such lyssie more perhaps that most people now wouldn't choose it for themselves. My dgm was married at 19. But I didn't meet Dh until I was 26, and knew immediately he was the one for me. If I'd met him at 18 I'd probably have felt the same. But my actual boyfriend at 18, absolutely couldn't have married him! Same goes for my boyfriend at 23! You've got to do what's right for you!

Cd 28, steadfastly ignoring ovia. Bored of this cycle now.

Welcome rebecca Grin

We were talking about this a few threads back, the "waiting for the right time" idea, when actually, there probably isn't ever a right time!

rebeccajones · 10/02/2016 21:57

I feel for all of the ovia obsessors. I am a week into this and I am obsessed with ovia. I want to ignore the technology but it is so testing. I give my OH a running update. I am a 9 today. Shag me shag me hahahaha

StarkyTheDirewolf · 10/02/2016 22:02

Are you using opk's or temping too rebecca ? I loved ovia back in December when I first downloaded it. Now I only really use it to keep track of cycle days. Sorry for spelling etc, chihuahua punching me in the face/headbutting me with love

OP posts:
rebeccajones · 10/02/2016 22:10

Only ovia. I do now even know what the other things are Confused. I am an amateur at all this. So confused about whether or not this will take long or not. The unanswerable question!!

Kathrino · 10/02/2016 22:12

Checking in after another slightly crazy day at work. Keep symptom spotting and then realising that there's no way I can be pregnant which just shows how much I've lost my mind. Welcome to newcomers too, lovely to have you with us!

LillianFullStop · 10/02/2016 22:15

welcome new joiners - here's a lesson on how to not get a starky star - i just POAS on a cheapie a day too early Blush.... even worse it's not FMU... in any case it's a BFN. Will try again tomorrow morning I guess!

MeadowHay · 10/02/2016 22:17

Is ovia like FF? I am using FF. I started temping yesterday and OPKing too, they both arrived from Amazon yesterday.

Starky, can we see a pic of your pup?! If you'd rather not then that's fine obviously. I always thought I didn't like them because I thought they were yappy but actually I think they're not all like that? And actually quite cute! We want to get a dog at some point and I would consider chihuahua even though usually I prefer big dogs, but DH says they're yappy and doesn't like them (although he also doesn't like any other small dog either).

Lill, if you are sedated like I was you don't really know what is going on and I barely remember it, so if you are anxious then you can ask for sedation and honestly it just becomes a little blur. But I'm certain I would have felt no pain anyway from the anesthetic injection so if I have another procedure in future I won't be sedated again. So don't worry, it's really not too bad. I had to have my first filling after it had healed too, that was arguably worse because the dentist kept doing the injection wrong, and then I needed an extra dose after the faff anyway because I could still feel. The needle went into my gum about 8 times, it was sooo tender and sore after!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 10/02/2016 22:18

Ovia is done in algorithms, so the linger you input data, the more accurate it becomes. It assumes everybody has the same kind of cycle, even if you've tweaked it. Doing opk's (ovulation predictor kits, available from amazon in bulk for a few pounds) will give you more of an idea when you actually ovulate.

So for example, I have really long cycles (from 37-43 days at a time) ovia puts my fertile week bang in the middle, but I actually ovulated a week earlier. So if I'd just gone by ovia, I'd have completely missed my fertile window.) Im now 11 dpo (days past ovulation). Ovia tells you to test at 12/13 dpo. I advise not testing until af is actually late.

meadow this is Our Beanie Bells. They're ace, we've got two, dps have 1 +a staffy. The shenanigans and dog politics that go on is hilarious. Such ace personalities and they're all different!

lillian its pretty rare that they will do oral surgery under GA in the UK. It's just not needed. They can make the whole area so numb and do what they need to do that its not recommended to risk the complications of a general. They do occasionally of course, but less than they used to. I'd go for local if you have the choice.

feef pm me if you like with more details about what they said ill see if i can piece it together.

Yvonne1986 · 10/02/2016 22:38

Feef I just did a little Google search and your right I didn't know it was a things either!!! So in the words of the bump.com tell your guy to keep his mouth away from down there!!! It's not just google there are some published medical journals too apparently it effects 12% of sperm!

I actually can't believe the things I now Google Blush

harrietm87 · 10/02/2016 22:40

Hey jamjar the applicator doesn't sound too bad! Might give it a go tonight when OH finally gets home! I will keep you all posted on the verdict!

feef I am so impressed with your ambition! Also gutted about saliva issues. That's partly why I got this fertility lube stuff. Might still have a go anyway though!

And hi rebecca and other newbies! Like starky I have lost faith in ovia. I now have ovia, kindara, glow, fertility friend, pink pad and Eve and they all say different fw start dates! So flying blind this month and just dtd loads! (Though probs not as much as feef ha!)

Jamjar12 · 10/02/2016 22:56

Oh my goodness, I'm not telling DH that! Without any oral, DTD would be a bit more clinical and more of a chore! No thanks, maybe I'll cut that out when we're still looking at BFNs at 9 months!

Just been to the cinema with DH and his best friend. He turns to me during the film and casual as anything said 'do you and your baby want some mini eggs?' I laughed and said not sure about my unfertilised eggs yet but I do! Turns out boys are worse than girls for tact!!!

On a side note, Deadpool is frickin amazing. Go and see it, now!

Yvonne1986 · 10/02/2016 23:00

We are going to see it over the weekend Grin I think if you look into it enough every single person would have one thing or another that effects fertility such as smoking alcohol etc! With all my hours spent updating Ovia POAS and searching for CM at least I'm giving the little swimmers and much help as possible!! Xxx

Peaches8Posies · 10/02/2016 23:00

yvonne 12%! Wow! Something else to add to the no no list.

starky you little dogs adorable.

lillian laughing at you POAS , because let's be honest we've all been there. 😊 but until AF rears her ugly head there's still a chance, fingers crossed.

It's soo easy to become so immersed in everything ttc related. Then you read the best thing to do is relax & try not to think about it & it will just happen. Easier said than done.....

rebeccajones · 10/02/2016 23:02

Lill
I had impacted wisdom teeth and they took the first one out with just an injected local anaesthetic but it was in so deep that they only pulled the one and said the others had to come out while I was sedated. Sedation was like heaven. Did not feel a thing, was out for the count and was a bit obnoxious afterwards but was not poorly in anyway. I had a number of stitches though and the pain in the week thereafter was awful. However I think it's because the root was sat on a nerve. Point is ... Get the sedation and you will not feel a thing!
