Hi everyone. I'd reiterate getting tests done early, it will put your mind at rest if nothing else or identify a problem that may need a bit of time to fix. I feel like time isn't on my side and wish I'd gone for tests earlier. I've been taking Chinese herbs for a week, I have 2 spoonfuls with hot water morning and evening. It's a weird smoky taste, not particularly nice but hoping it is doing something! I'm CD 8 and usually ovulate around CD 14 so will be interesting to see if that changes or my luteal phase lengthens (fx). I've got to send my herbalist my blood test results and BBT readings (I haven't noticed much of a change so far compared with other months) and she'll prescribe another batch of herbs for post ovulation. I'll keep you posted!

Friendlycav · 26/01/2016 15:50

I was told my LH and FSH test should be done between day 2-5. I went on day 2 but have read that lots of people recommend the test on day 3. There is so much conflicting advice out there Confused

FuzzyOwl · 26/01/2016 15:55

So glad your referral was waiting for you and has now been sent off mrsunsure.

Hope it works Friendlycav.

I have done some research and found an acupuncturist that looks quite good who is about half an hour away, so I am going to break my resolution and test tomorrow. If (or when) it is negative, I will book an appointment and give myself two cycles with acupuncture before going to the GP. I gave birth last year and am worried that the doctor won't take me seriously to begin with. Then again, it wasn't easy to conceive my DC in the first place and involved a mmc and endometriosis diagnosis to get there. I just hate going to the doctor and I really shouldn't.

Yes my GP said the LH test should be on day 8 (and the FSH day 3), the first nurse (horrible one) said both should be day 3 and changed the paperwork and the GP insisted on LH at 8 and changed it back! It's partly why I've no idea what's going on.

I actually had it on day 9 as it happens because day 8 was a Sunday. Smile

Mrsunusure, good to hear you've got your referral through, hopefully it won't be too long a wait for your appt. Have you looked on the Zita West website as there are lots of acupuncturist listed on there who specialise in fertility, maybe one in your area?

It's frustrating how people have been told different things regarding the blood tests and how it's such a long process from getting results to them actually dealing with any issues found, half the time the NHS don't seem to have a clue. I've got my private appt for the internal scan, if everything is clear (fx) on that I wonder what the next step would be, as I'm not convinced anymore that the issue is just a short luteal phase as my last few have been 11/12 daysConfused

OrianaBanana · 26/01/2016 20:04

I just got this on an OPK and its day 10. Normally I don't ovulate til at least day 16. ConfusedWine

Better get to it then Oriana! Although, and only because it happened to me once, as it is earlier than expected, I would continue testing if I were you to make sure your body isn't gearing up to ovulate but not going to do so.

Oriana Can't believe I didn't link but yes, it was the Chinese herbs that gave me a fake early positive opk - I was supposed to start them on cd8 and didn't realise and began on cd1.

Sorry Mrsunsure but my skin can be reptile like at times. Best thing I have found is to wash it with Soap and Glory shower cream and then plaster on night cream a few times a day.

It generally is a health questionnaire when you start acupuncture and they will want to look at your tongue as well - apparently they can see all kinds of health things from it, but not to worry as you just have to stick it out. As far as the health questions go, it is about anything you suffer from and what you want to get out of your visits. In all my acupuncture experiences, people have always been lovely and genuinely want to help you. I really hope your place is the same and if you feel more comfortable, go to somewhere with a female practitioner.

Mrsunsure, glad you've find somewhere, I also find the whole infertility thing hard to discuss as I'm really shy and have always hated talking about personal details (I haven't even told one person in real life we are ttc) but I just try to remember that these people deal with it every day and it is their job to help us. Smile

Have a look at Paulas Choice website, I tried everything before this and its the only thing that helps, and they sell trial sizes. This is a miracle product www.paulaschoice.co.uk/clear-regular-strength-anti-redness-exfoliating-solution-trialpack.html

OrianaBanana · 26/01/2016 22:03

Ah no I'm not taking Chinese medicine yet. I've had CM gearing up to ovulation, egg white, in a previous cycle, but then stopping and starting again later in the cycle, but not a false positive ovulation test. It wouldn't surprise me at this point though!!

OrianaBanana · 27/01/2016 06:40

Well last night didn't go so well. I mentioned DTD to DH who basically said given my test results wasn't it pointless? (I paraphrase but that was the thrust of it). He then apologised and said we could do it if I wanted. As you can imagine that went down like a lead balloon, we didn't DTD, I'm upset, and there's about as much chance of me getting pregnant as an Immaculate Conception! Angry

sunshinegirl12 · 27/01/2016 10:02

Oriana, you can ovulate up to 48hrs after your positive OPK so you're not out yet if you DTD today. x

OrianaBanana · 27/01/2016 10:24

Yes but I'm still pissed at him Smile

Also CM has dried up so it may have been false, not sure. Foolishly I didn't take my temp this a.m. because I was so disheartened. Confused

mascaraisamust · 27/01/2016 17:11

Still lurking guys and cheering you on!

OrianaBanana · 27/01/2016 17:25

Thanks mascara! How are you?

Got this today which looks even stronger, do you think this means my LH levels are ok or is that not necessarily the case?

FuzzyOwl has the dreaded AF made her appearance?

Short Luteal Phase #3
FuzzyOwl · 27/01/2016 17:38

I would be really annoyed at my DH too Oriana. I hope he is a lot more understanding in future. I often get three days of positive ICs and have had really strong ones like that.

Hi Mascara.

I tested with an IC this morning and got a BFN. AF hasn't arrived yet but I did get a very small lump of brownish mucus earlier which is certainly her start although I am doing my best to convince myself it is implantation.

Still no AF so maybe my LP has extended (which would be the first time ever), I ovulated later than the opk indicated (most likely), or it was a false negative I got today (I did use an IC).

I don't have a single AF symptom but I also don't have any pregnancy ones either. Will test again tomorrow and hope AF hasn't arrived overnight.
