Post your stats and add your dates. We have a register thanks to kat, a resident piss stick queen runner, loaaaaaads of bfp'ers who keep us positive! We don't have rules, we love a good symptom spot, we try to stay grounded and not be hysterical sometimes we manage it aswell

But on the whole, we're a good bunch, especially bunch who is literally, a bunch. bunch

Lol Holly, thank goodness I'm not the only one! My painkillers aren't even that strong anymore! Super, I'll stick around Grin

Mileymoocow · 18/01/2016 10:11

indi I'm about the same. Really want an October baba but we're off to Dubai in march and it's free drink on the plane.

I'm a bit dubious about this month cause I ov'd earlier than ovia predicted. By the time I thought I was due to come in to fw I was already half way through. Fw 12th -17th and ov'd 16th. Dtd 12th, 15th 16th and yesterday so FX it was enough and not too much but I get super Erm... up for it during fw

Mileymoocow · 18/01/2016 10:12

impy definitely don't leave! We could do with an expert for some advice around here!

FXSkip · 18/01/2016 10:26

Indix Harriet and Kathrino The book that I endlessly recommend to people (Expecting Better) has a great little section about drinking on the 2WW:
''For the period between fertilisation and your missed period, your baby is a mass of identical cells. Any of these cells could develop into any part of the baby. If you do something that kills one of these cells (eg heavy drinking) another cell can replace it and do exactly the same thing. The resulting baby is unaffected. However, if you kill too many of these cells, the embryo will fail to develop and you will wind up not pregnant at all. It's an all or nothing thing.''

She also goes on to explain about drinking during pregnancy, along with all of the other myths and official recommendations - its well worth a read.

Kathrino · 18/01/2016 10:37

Welcome Impy! FX for this month. I'm impressed at how much you managed to DTD despite having surgery; we didn't manage that much and I have no excuse!

Indi, your plan sounds exhausting but at least you'll know that you've given those swimmers the best possible chance. Keeping everything crossed that it works out for you.

FX, I was reading that at the weekend and found the alcohol section particularly sensible and reassuring.

ImpYCelyn · 18/01/2016 10:52

Thanks Kathrino Smile

We only really managed once a few days after surgery. DH was really reluctant in case it damaged my leg. I might have been a little harpy-ish about "But there's EWCM! It has to be now!". I felt a bit guilty afterwards... But I mucked up my timings before surgery as I didn't adjust for a longer cycle length and originally thought my fertile window was much earlier. So by last week I think DH was already regretting agreeing to TTC lol. I remember that I hate that most about TTC, suddenly DTD just becomes DTD and a lot less fun if you're not careful.

I've not read Expecting Better, but I've never really been sure about drinking in the 2WW. What is their advice? I always assumed that a few little ones would be okay, but not at the same time. This time medication has solved that for me and I'm off alcohol anyway. But I'd rather have a small glass of wine if I really want one than spend two weeks tense and worried and then get a BFN anyway.

Although I find if I do get a BFP I correspondingly feel so nauseous at the thought of alcohol that I'm golden for the first trimester anyway Grin

Cthulhoo · 18/01/2016 11:00

Imp, in the book she summarises the findings as such
'Bottom Line

There is no good evidence that light drinking during pregnancy negatively impacts your baby. You should be comfortable with:

  • Up to one drink a day in the second and third trimesters
  • One to two drinks a week in the first trimester
  • Speed matters: no vodka shots!
  • Heavier drinking could have negative impacts, especially in the range of four or five drinks at a time. this should be avoided.'

I've been almost entirely teetotal for the entire time we've been ttc, but after reading the book I've relaxed and I'm planning not to forego the occasional glass of wine after dinner.

IndiX · 18/01/2016 11:06

Well I have a confession..I got pretty very drunk on Saturday and ended up being sick most of the nightBlush. I'm hoping that hasn't affected my chances this month but don't think I've ovulated yet. I can't really think about alcohol at the mo so going to limit it to an absolute minimum for the rest of this month. I never really drink through the week anyway but would like to cut it out for the rest of this cycle, especially if we are working hard DTD so often there would be no point to ruin it with me going out too much.

ImpYCelyn · 18/01/2016 11:09

Thanks Cthulhoo! Aside from being off entirely in first trimester (barring one wedding toast) that's been pretty much how I've done it. Maybe not quite one drink a day, but perhaps a few per week. I was worried it might be something radically different, but now I'm reassured!

I remember a couple of months ago (autumn-ish) there was briefly a thing in the news which said there was actually no evidence and the "no alcohol" thing should be relaxed, but it vanished really quickly. I've heard good things about Expecting Better, so I'll go by that.

ImpYCelyn · 18/01/2016 11:14

Indi my first midwife told me that I should bear in mind the number of people who get pregnant after getting too drunk to put a condom on properly etc and just chill out (I'd asked because I'd been to a party the cycle I got my BFP). She also used the bundle of cells example, and I think pointed out that while eggs and sperm are floating they're not being supplied by the blood stream or anything. But did say sternly "Now you know, don't do it again!" Smile

Cthulhoo · 18/01/2016 11:14

Imp yes, one of the things she discusses in the book is why guidelines are phrased the way they are. It appears that for alcohol the actual research has always been quite clear that in moderation alcohol is fine and in fact, mothers who are completely teetotal perform marginally worse at some of the key outcomes, though the differences aren't significant. I guess if you allow yourself the occasional glass of wine you are more likely to relax or be able to relax.

But the thinking seems to be that it's safer to tell women they can't drink at all because clearly you can't trust women to regulate their drinking ... Angry

ImpYCelyn · 18/01/2016 11:41

Oh FGS Angry Because I can't actually tell the difference between a small glass of wine and a bottle... lol

Kwick709 · 18/01/2016 11:48

I got a bfn this morning Sad. I am currently at clinic waiting to see consultant to discuss going on to ivf. Will let you know what bus I will need to go on but likely March as they a dummy transfer first.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 18/01/2016 11:54

Good luck k2ick and fingers crossed for you. It's ok, you can sit with me! I'm feeling sad today, realisation that with my cycle and everything else, I don't get a fair chance each month and it's going to be very disappointing much of the time.

Going to go outside, smoke a cigarette, shed a tear, do a deep breathe and then get in the shower and try and remember that I'm incredibly lucky. I'm happy and healthy with a warm bed and enough dinner. I have a husband who loves me and a new pair of shoes being delivered.

Mileymoocow · 18/01/2016 11:57

Good luck kwick

starky I feel totally shit for you. Sucks so much that you don't get a fair chance each month. It's hard enough as it is without that realisation. FX it's cycle 2 for you

IndiX · 18/01/2016 11:59

Oh Kwik I'm sorry about bfn. Hopefully doctors will be able to guide you to the right treatment for you xx

Thanks imp made me feel a bit better about my drunkeness on SaturdayBlush I definitely don't want to go near alcohol for a little anyway feel a bit sick thinking of it

harrietm87 · 18/01/2016 12:05

Aw starky I feel for you. I have long cycles too - it does seem unfair to have to wait so much longer than lucky short cycle people! Keep the faith - this cycle will be the one!

I'm also feeling a bit down today - meant to be day 1 of fw and no EWCM to speak of (I usually have loads), and OH worried me last night by saying he wished more of his peers had children because he's worried about the impact on his career. He's self-employed in a competitive performing arts field and has to fight for every piece of work he gets. I keep telling him I fully support his career and having a baby won't affect it, but part of me worries that it will. On the other hand, his job will always be like this so I don't think there's any point waiting longer. He is still happy to ttc now but I wish I could feel that he was as excited about it as I am.

Mileymoocow · 18/01/2016 12:07

Does anyone else get reeeeeally bad bloating and wind after ovulation? I'm in pain here at work holding my fart bombs in. Exact same thing happened last cycle, it's pretty hilarious horrendous.

Mileymoocow · 18/01/2016 12:10

harriet I'm finding it normal for me to totally worry about things that I know won't be a prob when I have a rational head on. I'm sure he is as excited as you but as alpha males are, he's stressing that he won't be able to support as much. It'll all be fine ☺

Preseed up, lady Wink

ImpYCelyn · 18/01/2016 12:19

Miley I don't, but I'm crying laughing at that. I do get that a bit with AF.

harriet my DH didn't seem excited at all with #1. I cried during the pg because he just didn't seem to care. He was happy to TTC and said he wanted a baby, but just seemed so disengaged. Once it arrived he was totally on it and was (is) super dad. He said he just found it hard to get his head round it while he couldn't see it, but I needed him to be a bit more into it... Second time was better, because I told him that I needed him to get excited for my emotional well-being.

Snowdog37 · 18/01/2016 12:19

Welcome Impy 😊
11dpo here... Temp is up again. In fact I'm having regular hot flushes every few hours where I burn up but when I take my temp it's only in the 98.something range but I feel hotter iyswim? Between that and mild cramps every now and then I'm pretty much devoid of symptoms. Not even bothering to test. Why waste the cash?
Sorry for your long cycle stark and any other long cyclers. This is one of the very few times I'm happy my cycle is only 25 days or so.

Laurenowls · 18/01/2016 12:24

Well this girly is happy that her spotting seems to have disappeared!! Smile but still going to wait and hold out hope as ovia tells me i should test in 8 (freaking 8?) days time

StarkyTheDirewolf · 18/01/2016 12:25

Thanks miley I'm currently doing my best to give my head a wobble and restore my positive mindset. Being woken up early by dh kicking the living shit put of me in his sleep didn't help, especially as it culminated in him farting loudly ON MY BACK! He literally broke wind upon my person! I was disgusted, so I kicked him back and then farted louder and longer on him to get my own back!

Can anyone tell me about threading? I'm mildly allergic to wax and depilatory creams, which in the past I've ignored, as having a red goatee shaped rash was preferable to having an actual goatee. My skin seems to have become more sensitive of late, so I'm looking into alternatives!

OP posts:
Mileymoocow · 18/01/2016 12:29

starky high five for getting your own back. My OH is a nightmare for farting on me. I'm well prepared for fart wars today though.

I've had my eyebrows threaded before it hurt like fuck and it gave great results. Genuinely looked good. Have you ever tried an epilator?

StarkyTheDirewolf · 18/01/2016 12:37

I was wondering about an epilator miley but didn't want to buy one and it then be no good, or buy an expensive one to discover I didn't like it. Dm suggested lazer hair removal!
