beansprout - you wont get fobbed off but my gp told me after a year or so that depo can take 12 - 18 months to get out of your system, some are lucky and it just happens, for me it was 20 months and periods back to normal now, so after having had the bloods to check ovulation is happening am now on a waiting game... good luck, would go to gp to see if yours say something different...

honeyapple · 05/01/2007 13:12

Fingerscrossed- that's v interesting about the cough medicine stuff. I had heard about women taking it for TTC but didnt know the science behind it. I think I should drink more water first- I'm really rubbish at drinking anywhere near the recommended daily amount. Just popping to get some now...
That's better!
Also just found some cough medicine in my cupboard-
says 100mg of Guaifenesin, but also 1.1mg of Levomenthol- do you reckon this is no good as contains another active ingredient?
Mind you Levomenthol sounds pretty harmless...?????

Fingerscrossed2007 · 05/01/2007 13:18

Beansprout

How well do oyu know your GP? I know it can vary a lot but my GP is really sympathetic alos be prepared for a positive and helpful response. I had some gynae issues a 18 months ago ago and even though I wasnt TTC (and we live in a pressured NHS area)then mine volunteered to do blood tests to confirm ovulation is actully takign place. He has also said they will refer me to the hospital once I have been trying for 6 months as I am over 35.

I know that a previous poster has suggested stretching the truth about how long you have been TTC but this may be a bit difficualt as you had Depo. If it was at your GPs it will (obviously) be on oour notes. In the mean time it may be worth booking a seesion with a practice nurse to talk through how long it takes to get depo out of your system. previous poster is right in that it can take a while for things to get back to normal after the injection.

I'm the worst at drinking water. You've just reminded me to get a glass. Actully I'll make it a herbal tea. back soon

babylove123 · 05/01/2007 14:31

Thats so weird about the cough medicine! Im on it for my chest infection, as well as anti-biotics. Maybe i'll keep going if it will help me ttc!

I have missed out on loads on here!! Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well.

Can I just say, please be careful if you decide to take the cough medicine for ewcm!! When I first joined MN I read some pretty awful things about the possible side effects, so please be sure to read EVERY piece of information you can find before deciding. Sorry if that sounds bossy

Firststar - so pleased everything is going well!! Keep in touch!!

Honeyapple - thanks for pointing me in the right direction for Floss... it's weird that I missed her thread!! So excited for her!!

Well it is CD28 for me today, had cramps for about a week temp down to just above the coverline too, so assume AF will arrive tomorrow, on time Cried myself to sleep last night too... feeling really despondent. Still, someone already started a February thread, so somewhere to go

Ready , good luck for next month. How long have you been trying?

MrsBeee · 05/01/2007 19:05

Any news beansprout? How did you get on with the GP? BTW I didn't mean to insinuate that you're old at 37, I just know that difficulty TTC should be taken seriously after 35, so I hope you had a good response from your GP.

Fingerscrossed2007, thats great news about going away during your ov time! Just think, if you conceive you could also have the name sorted too... where are you going to stay? Paris, Blackpool, Devon????!

I'm now also feeling that AF will come, after a few days of feeling really positive (so to speak...), I have PMT, feel knackered and have the usual awful skin breakout pre-AF. Oh well, this time next week I'll know one way or another. Fingers crossed.

MrsBeee · 05/01/2007 19:06

Ready, have you done a sneaky test yet if you're due tomorrow? The cramps could mean anything y'know... I am totally hoping you come online with some good news this weekend xxxx

ammylovesbabies · 05/01/2007 20:47

Have had cramps for a couple of days, which is odd for me but they have been quite strong and it feels like everything is gonna drop out!! Never mind, there is always next month. Did a test tonight anyway, BFN. sob. Tits like boulders and knicker checking like an idiot. hate this. and its only the first month!

greedyformincepies · 05/01/2007 21:17

perve....where are you? whats happening? hows it all going?

Jossiejump · 05/01/2007 21:42

Greedy_I've seen Impatiemce in the hut of gloom thread!!

beansprout · 05/01/2007 21:49

Hi. GP has sent me for a blood test to check my progesterone levels and a swab to rule out any infections. The discussion was pretty unhelpful though. Told me quite categorically that depo always leaves the system in 3-6 months (never longer) and that a cycle that is "three weeks between periods and then misses a month and then there is another 2 months" is "erratic" (no sh*t! ) and that mine was not. Um, ok then. That told me!

Anyway, keep on trying and go back in a few months if no joy. Am hoping it won't come to that! Thanks for thinking of me Mrs Beeee.

ammylovesbabies · 05/01/2007 21:52

I need a word with the clear blue fairy. I have another test upstairs that is whispering my name. Ready is that you really? HELP ME!!

ammylovesbabies · 05/01/2007 21:54

I'm convincing myself that if I do it tomorrow it will def be BFP. ARRGGGHHHHH!! my mind is playing tricks on me.

WinniethePooh · 05/01/2007 21:58

Sorry to hear the Doc was so unhelpful Beansprout. Hopefully you won't need to go back. (apart from your booking appointment when you get that BFP)

I have just looked on the Due in September therad, (not posted though as I don't want to jinx myself this month) and there is a poohbear2007 on there.

It could get confusing WHEN I get a BFP at the end of this month.

Lots of BABYDUST to everyone.

JoAndTheBoys · 05/01/2007 22:04

Beansprout, I'm another depo 'graduate'.

Conceived both ds's at the drop of a hat (pre-depo obv.) and am now trying for no.3.

My last depo was May '05, no periods after it until I went on a drug the doc prescribed nearly a year later to make them start.

Had short cycles (around 24 days) after that and pretty sure I ov'd during them (although stress did make me miss a period and ov'g in late summer which I've never had before), but as we weren't wanting to conceive last year, went on Cerazette in Sept. This also stopped my periods until a couple of weeks after I stopped taking it in November.

Had a short AF mid Dec and am now on day 16 without any signs of ov yet

Don't hold out much hope for this month really, since depo the slightest thing seems to stop my periods, and I'm not confident of my fertility at all now. I'm only on my first 'unprotected' month though so we'll see.

As for your gp saying depo leaves your system in 3-6 months, IME and from everything I've read of other womens' experiences of it on the net, I'd say that's complete shite.

Fingers crossed for a positive result for us soon. X

babylove123 · 05/01/2007 22:13

Trust me, im post depo. Came off it because i put 4st of weight on in 1 yr!!!! Doc wldnt believe me that it was the depo. I even got kicked off weightwatchers for putting weight on! I had a week of sickness where i didnt eat anything and gained 4lbs! Took well over 18 months for my weight to stay steady, let alone lose any!

Dont trust them!

ammylovesbabies · 05/01/2007 22:32

Bloody hell Babylove, thats bonkers!

babylove123 · 05/01/2007 22:36

You're telling me! I was a friggin size 12, now im a 20! It depressed me so much and the doc would not believe me. It was so embarressin getting told to leave weightwatchers! I was barely eating!

sigh so glad i came off it. I went onto cerazette which was ok but came off that in May 2006. Feel SO much better being off everything! Even if we werent ttc, i wouldnt go back on anything!

JoAndTheBoys · 05/01/2007 22:49

Babylove123, sounds like you have similar contraceptive history to mine. My dh is having the snip when we finally have no.3, one main reason is so I never have to go back onto any pills etc. again! (other main reason is so I can't get broody again!)

I was irritable and depressed on depo as well, and cerazette made me really irritable, like having permanent pmt!

dressedupnowheretogo · 05/01/2007 22:50

hi ladies i want a second my lo is currently 22 weeks and i dont want too much of a gap still bf exclusively and no af as of yet so wen do i start trying or do i start trying and hope fore the best

any advice or insight would be helpful

babylove123 · 05/01/2007 22:55

Hi Jo,

Lucky you with 2 already, i'm trying for number 1! DP is 19 so he wouldnt have the snip, you know wot men are like, its their whole world!!!!!!

Yep, i was awful on both of them, not so bad on cerazette. Depo was a friggin nitemare, some women are lucky to not have any probs from it

Hi Booby, lol. I expect because you're bf, your cycle is not back to normal. If i were you, i'd just BD with no contraception and see wot happens! Do you ever feel like you ovulate? Some women can tell. If no af has been tho i wld think you're not back into your cycle.

JoAndTheBoys · 05/01/2007 23:02

I know BL123, I was lucky enough to not come across depo until I was 26 and had already had my 2 babes. Had I known about it's longer term effects I would have avoided it like the plague!

I have seen it said on here that in other countries, docs won't prescribe it to women unless they've definitely finished their family...
