TTC - a relaxed thread.

Looking for like-minded mums to be who are taking things as they come and fancy a friendly chat along the way.

I'm 36 and just started ttc my second. My ds is 28 mo and I still bf him once a day, most days. I understand this may affect my fertility but, although a three-ish year age gap would be nice, I'm a long way from worrying about it at this early stage. It took me a year of trying (and a mc) before ds came along so I already know what it's like to wait for good things!

Technically I'm not charting or anything (wouldn't know how) just counting roughly 10 days into my cycle and dtd as much as reasonable (!) around that time.

It might not be the most dynamic way of ttc but it suits me for now Smile

Haha! It took us all a while I think...was convinced it was my internet the provider and then I thought the site was down.

Well it was another light pink line for me today. Going to keep testing throughout the week unless I suddenly start bleeding. These miscarriages have really destroyed my confidence so don't think I will believe it's positive for a while.

Welcome Sasquatch. You have found yourself a wonderful group of supportive women.

Hi, I'd like to join if that's ok. I had a miscarriage in March and haven't really felt like trying again until maybe now. I have been on the TTC after MC thread but it sometimes makes me feel guilty that I'm not trying as hard as the others and I'm not totally devastated when AF arrives so hoping this more relaxed thread might be a safer place for me ?

Quick history - The mc was my first pg and we weren't really trying, just not being careful !! I went into major panic after bfp not really knowing if I definitely wanted a baby for many reasons that I won't go on about again. Took me the whole 12 weeks to get my head round it and start to be excited and then just before the scan I started bleeding and found no heartbeat since 9 weeks. At the time I was devastated and all I wanted was to be pg again proving to me that I did really want a baby. Now, 5 months on I'm back to being practical and level headed wondering if it's the right thing etc ? I'm 38 so if we're going to do this we should get a wriggle on really. So here we are again, no trying too hard but not being careful.

Hope I don't sound too mixed up - just a natural worrier !!!

Good luck to everyone waiting for the bfp !!

Tamara160 · 19/08/2015 14:27

Wow Cake, that look amazing!! Did you make it yourself?

Welcome Adventuregame! Sorry to hear about your mc.
Don't worry about feeling pressured here, we do seem a little crazy sometimes but the ladies here are so welcoming and supportive! Smile
It sounds like you have a lot of emotions whizzing around. How does your OH feel about it all? TTC is a very personal thing and you shouldn't feel as though you should be 'trying harder' just because others are. You should only do what makes you comfortable.
Do you think you're unsure because of the worry of another mc?

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Adventuregame · 19/08/2015 14:46

Hi Tamara

I know DP does want a baby but he's never pressured me. We are very 'what will be, will be' as a couple which is nice and during the mc he kept saying to me that if it was just the 2 of us that's enough and I love him for that !

lostindubai · 19/08/2015 16:49

Hi Adventure, warm welcome to you. So sorry to hear about your mc. I had one at 9 weeks before my ds came along. It's very common, but of course an awful thing to go through. Several of us on here have been through mc.

I think you'll find it very chilled here, no pressure from anyone, no manic charting and no race to the finish. Just chatting along the way really. Good luck!

I took ds for his first swimming lesson this morning. He enjoyed it I think but wasn't really up for joining in yet! Hopefully he'll get more into it as the weeks go on.

Happy anniversary Cake!

So I've been on the actual website (as opposed to the app) to look at Reebok's and Cake's photos.

Reebok - that's a pretty clear line, so I think congratulations are in order! Thanks I hope everything goes well for you and that you're feeling better soon.

Cake - that cake looks amazing! Hope you enjoy eating it Smile

Had a busy day at work today so going to get DS to bed and them make dinner and relax with a glass of wine I think. Two more days til the weekend, yay.

Hello to the newer ones than me Smile

Tamara160 · 19/08/2015 19:01

Aww Adventuregame, he sounds like a keeper! From the sound of it you'll fit in really well here, you've got a lovely relaxed attitude to it all Smile

Glad DS enjoyed his swimming lesson Dubai!

Sounds like you deserve that glass of wine Millie! Enjoy! Wine

Reebok · 19/08/2015 19:44

Welcome adventure! This is a fan thread. Very laid back! I'm so sorry for your loss. I also mc over 4 weeks ago and had my first mc 3 years ago so I know how you feel. I'm also on the Ttc after mc thread. I took a very laid back approach too as we decided to Ttc straight away but with a 'whatever happens happens' approach...no charting, opks or whatever they are called etc. Hope you will find this thread useful.

Thanks guys. Trying to forget about it really and just take each day as it comes. Spent the day with some of my oldest friends. Was wonderful aside from our kids all running around under our feet!

Cake that cake looks amazing!! Enjoy!! Making my mouth water!

Dubai, Tamara...hope you're ok? Glad swimming went well.

Millie, enjoy a big fat glass while you can!!!

LO is asleep and I'm exhausted. I think it's dinner and Netflix for me tonight! Now if only I could figure out what to eat. This ear infection really took away my appetite! Enjoy your evening ladies!

Reebok · 19/08/2015 19:45

By the way, that was meant to be fab thread!

Tamara160 · 19/08/2015 21:25

Reebok, I hope you found something yummy to eat and something good to watch. It sounds like you've had a fun, crazy day!

I'm ok thanks, been busy today and finally sat down with a lemonade (living on the edge!) I've painted the kitchen, scrubbed the doorframes and floor and done the food shopping. I'm sure I nearly scrubbed off my fingerprints lol! It has taken my mind of testing day though, which is good.

Annarose2014 · 20/08/2015 10:50

Well as you know i don't think anything is stirring....but the last couple of days I've been peeing a lot more frequently, and that was one of my very earliest symptoms last time (I said to the doctor "I'm either pregnant or I have a UTI")

So I did a test last night and it was BFN. Of course since AF isn't due till Saturday...and the last time I had an early negative test too which was a false negative....it isn't as conclusive as I'd like. My own big fat fault for doing one so early!

But on the balance of things I'm still leaning towards not pregnant. Hurry up period and let me know where I am for sure!

Annarose2014 · 20/08/2015 10:52

I actually think having tests in the house is probably not a good idea - if i hadn't bought a pack of Tescos cheapies yesterday "to have in for next month" Hmm I wouldn't have bothered going out specially last night for one, iykwim.

PipeDownSmallFry · 20/08/2015 11:02

Hi, ok if I join too? I'm 35, TTC #2, first month of trying, am currently enduring the torturous 2WW AF due 1/2 September. #1 was a bit of a surprise and is now 3.5 years so am new to the process of TTC, sooo much to learn!

themarsh · 20/08/2015 11:16

Hi all,

Hope I can join for a chat too? (I'm also new to mumnet so don't always get all the acronyms!)

I have one 17 month old and am TTC number two. Have been trying for around 4 months but my cycle is a bit all over the place and unpredictable since I had a baby! Anyone else had this? I have tried ovulation calculator but kind of prefer a more relaxed approach!

darkpandora · 20/08/2015 11:52

Hey everyone hope you are all ok.

Welcome pipedown and themarsh of course you can join the more the merrier Smile it a great group on here and we all stop each other from going too crazy lol

annarose I have no tests at home I think it's a good thing as I probs would test if I had them. Fingers crossed it was just far too early for your BFP.

Nothing to report here in my new still in 2WW so waiting around trying not to go insane lol

I'm still

darkpandora · 20/08/2015 11:54

*ingnore the extra 'I'm still' can't write today lol

annat66 · 20/08/2015 12:35

Can I hop on board? Smile

New around here! Currently ttc number 2 (dd is almost 3) after gaining complex thyroid issues. Came off meds in Jan so tried to let my body settle down to somewhat normal! Thyroid issues can make it harder TTC however we're trying to take it all with a pinch of salt and stay relaxed Smile

Currently getting twitchy to test! 4days till period! Eep!

xXx

Tamara160 · 20/08/2015 16:52

Hi everyone!

Welcome annat66, themarsh and Pipedown Smile, as Dark said 'the more the merrier!'.

I know how you're feeling Dark, i'm dying to test! I have tests in the house and look at them everyday lol. But i'm determined not to test early!

Ooo not long annat66! You must be more excited than me!!! Resist the testing, not too much longer to go!

PipeDownSmallFry · 20/08/2015 18:06

I'm determined not to buy any tests In advance - trying to be relaxed about it (I'm obviously not at all) AF due on dds first day back at nursery after the summer hols - can't wait.

Bluepigoon · 20/08/2015 19:20

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a good day. I had implantation bleeding today but I'm trying really hard to not get too excited as I had an early mc a couple of months ago. Fx though!

Reebok · 20/08/2015 19:30

Fx for you Blue!

Girls resist!!!! No good comes from early testing!! It just drives you more crazy!! Fx for you all!!

Am a little worried. Getting shooting pains in my downstairs area. Lasts about 10 seconds and throws me off track. Can't remember if I had this with LO and because of my mc history I'm freaked out. Keep wearing pads as I'm convinced I will bleed soon and it's going to be over.
