Short Luteal Phase

So after 6 months of ttc I've worked out I've got a short luteal phase of 9 days, however it could be even less. I get a positive opk on day 19 and 9 days later AF appears. I'm fearing it could be less that 9 days if I ovulate 24-36 hours after a postive opk. No suprises that there hasn't been a bfp yet. I'm thinking this is my obstacle. Seems I've tried everything else. Do I go to my GP? Is there any point? On preconception vitamins with b6 in and have been in them for three months and no changes. Also AF is really painful every month, wondering if there is more to this. Any ideas? Or anyone experienced/ing similar?

That's about AF though. How long is your cycle now then? Do you track on an app?

And 35 is no age! My sisters both were over 35 and have two kids a piece!

Aw, thanks!

mrsmugoo · 12/08/2015 18:27

Star1980 - I'm 35 and my GP brushed me completely off!

mascaraisamust · 12/08/2015 19:09

Oh no! I think it depends who you get. Let us know how it goes star!

It must be so hard not being able to tell everyone ur news, its hard enough to keep it secret that we're trying. We haven't told anyone either but if this is our lucky month would have to tell my family in the first few weeks as we're going away with them nx month and they'd know as soon as they saw me without a drink Hmm

Am currently on day 12 and in my fertile period, going to give conceive plus a try this month too. Xx

mascaraisamust · 12/08/2015 20:12

I live quite far from my parents so I reckon next time I see them I should be nearly 12 weeks and ready to tell them. Its easy to fib over the phone haha! I'm going to lie low around here for the next 7 weeks. Away for a week next weekend and nothing on in September yet so I'll be a social bore and turn down invites blaming lack of pennies! Any excuse to drive Grin

Tested again, not moving off 1-2 weeks which makes me nervous Sad why did I test with CB! I know that since conception so would make me 4 weeks but I'm slightly over than I think. Would have expected 2-3... Guess I'll have to wait it out

Sorry for typos, didnt read back!

Mascara this must be so horrible for you, hopefully it'll all be ok, could you go back to the docs and get them to check ur hormone levels are increasing with a blood test? Xx

doobeedee · 13/08/2015 09:16

Step away from the digi!!!!! They're notoriously wrong! The range of HCG at different DPOs is huge. I had the same issue moving from 2-3 to 3+. Please don't worry.

mascaraisamust · 13/08/2015 15:35

Digi is in the bin! Not going to test anymore now. As long as I'm not cramping and there's no af I'm pregnant and I need to get a grip haha! Waiting on docs to ring about urine result now. They got it back really quick! GP just needs to interpret apparently.

All fine Smile whats the update today?

OP posts:
sunshinegirl12 · 14/08/2015 19:52

So today I'm on CD12, i usually ovulate around now and FF confirms it should be today. But I haven't had any of the usual pinching pain I get leading up to it or CM, and haven't had a positive OPK yet.

I wonder if it could be the B complex delaying my ovulation, it's the only thing i can think of. I don't want to ovulate late if my AF still arrives at the same time as I'll have an even shorter LP. Still going to carry on DTD every other day, just in case.

Hope everyone else is doing ok x

mrsmugoo · 14/08/2015 21:56

When you say "FF confirms it should be today" what do you mean?

FF either just uses mid cycle as an arbitrary day or uses your own OPK/temping data

sunshinegirl12 · 14/08/2015 22:05

Well assumed FF calculated when I should ovulate based on data from previous months when I've used OPKs, based on what is normal for my cycle.

mascaraisamust · 15/08/2015 08:57

Keep dtd eod sunshine, I think I ovulated late in my cycle too in the days after my supposed fertile period (as worked out by Ovia and FF). Really routing for you all!

I've broken and booked an early 8 week confirmation scan. Need the reassurance it's there and it's growing as it should. GP won't do bloods. It was fairly cheap though, I was surprised!

mrs how are you getting on?

Morning! Just checking back in. Not been on MN much as trying not to obsess this TWW. Currently on CD29/9DPO and no symptoms whatsoever this TWW. Not bloating, headaches nothing.

Last month I had a short luteal phase of 10days and ended up in A&E with excruciatingly painful AF and with a prescription for codeine and a referral to a gynaecologist for a scan as doctor wants to rule out endo or cysts.

Hoping AF doesn't show tomorrow. And hoping last month was an anomaly.

Started charting bbt last week so no idea what my baseline would be but at 7dpo temp dropped by 0.5C which looks like a lot on chart. It's up again now - 36.43C today.

Fx

mascaraisamust · 15/08/2015 09:54

This sounds promising sunshine. Remember I had no symptoms, I was merrily carrying on with my holiday activities/wedding parties! BBT should stay elevated I think, it drops if Af is on the way. Fingers crossed AF stays away for you!

I have a tummy bug Sad I'm hoping it's not DH's D&V!!

OP posts:
sunshinegirl12 · 15/08/2015 10:51

Oh no Mascara, hope you feel better soon, there seems to be so many nasty tummy bugs around at the mo. I would have ended up booking the early scan too, it will be worth it for peace of mind, when is it booked for?

So I woke up early today and started obsessive googling to see if B50 could be the cause and as usual every possible outcome came up. So I've decided to stop with all the worrying and constant googling and just relax a bit Smile

Hope everyone else is ok xx

mascaraisamust · 15/08/2015 11:08

Got the appointment with the midwife on the 30th Aug and a private early scan on the 3rd Sept. That all feels within reach so I feel more reassured.

Currently laid down, sipping teeny bits of water hoping this will all pass, quickly!

Take your own advice sunshine and chill. Get past the first hurdle of AF hopefully not appearing tomorrow. Stressing is not good. Trick your body into thinking your as cool as a cucumber and keep busy today Smile

Hi Ladies, hope everyone is well xx
Nothing to report here, cd 16 so still early days for me, not expecting anything to start happening for at least another week, maybe two!

Sorry to hear you're not feeling too good Mascara, hope it passes soon. Glad to hear you've booked an 8 week scan, that's better than worrying for an additional 4 weeks Smile I didn't know you could book early scans, is it something you've done privately? xx

mascaraisamust · 15/08/2015 11:30

When do you ov Shary?

I was googling (nothing new) and was shocked to find a private scan clinic 3 miles from my house! They do all sorts of baby scans and are cheaply priced. They do a specific scan at 8 weeks for reassurance. The NHS only do them at early pregnancy units at 8 weeks if there are issues like bleeding/cramps etc so I think it will just put my mind at ease before the 12 week scan.

I've only successfully tracked ovulation once so far & that time I got a peak on cd 33 Shock xx
