Short Luteal Phase

So after 6 months of ttc I've worked out I've got a short luteal phase of 9 days, however it could be even less. I get a positive opk on day 19 and 9 days later AF appears. I'm fearing it could be less that 9 days if I ovulate 24-36 hours after a postive opk. No suprises that there hasn't been a bfp yet. I'm thinking this is my obstacle. Seems I've tried everything else. Do I go to my GP? Is there any point? On preconception vitamins with b6 in and have been in them for three months and no changes. Also AF is really painful every month, wondering if there is more to this. Any ideas? Or anyone experienced/ing similar?

Cd11 here and I'm currently away for a few days at a wedding in Croatia without our DS so we're having a very relaxing few days in the sunshine! Back Monday.

I'll be busting out the OPKs from Monday.

mascaraisamust · 16/08/2015 06:50

shary get tracking again. When was the last time you tracked? Mine would have been like that the first few months coming off the pill. It may have moved!

mrs you lucky thing. I've always wanted to go to Croatia. Enjoy! I'm away next Saturday hurrah!

Hi Mascara, I tracked with CB Smile Sad face sticks on my third cycle and got the peak. Tried to track with my CB advanced monitor during cycle four but the monitor gave up after cd 26 so I could track that time. Tracking this cycle with cheapy OPKs everyday regardless of how early in my cycle it is, I'm temping & I'll be able to start using my CBAFM again on cd 20 because on the advice of CB I've tricked the machine! Wink

Sunshinegirl2015 · 16/08/2015 10:21

Mrs enjoy the sun!

Shary that must be awful not getting a peak until CD33! But at least you're still getting a peak.

I'm on CD30 / 10DPO today - last month I got AF on 10DPO so hoping she stays away today. No sign of her yet.

Yesterday afternoon and had a mild cramp and felt a dripping sensation and thought I'd started AF so ran to the loo but it was just a watery discharge. Very odd for me. Cervix was low, firm and closed and overall dry sensation. After that no more discharge but it honestly felt so wet like I'd wet myself I had to change underwear and use a liner. No colour or smell to it. As always hoping the weird things my body does are a good sign. Fx!

sunshinegirl12 · 16/08/2015 10:43

Hi from one sunshine to anotherSmile That all sounds very promising, FX for you x

Sunshinegirl2015 · 16/08/2015 12:08

Thanks sunshine still no sign of AF!

sunshinegirl12 · 16/08/2015 12:49

Have u tested yet sunshine? Xx

Sunshinegirl2015 · 16/08/2015 14:49

No not yet sunshine. App reckons I'm due AF Wednesday based on previous cycles averaging at 32days and today is CD30/10DPO. Think I'll wait until Wednesday possibly Thursday to test if no AF.

I don't normally have this much self control haha!

mascaraisamust · 16/08/2015 20:44

sunshine2015 that sounds promising, fingers crossed for you! Keep us updated!

Two sunshines, lovely!!

shary wahey for cheating the monitor, keep tracking and let us know how you are getting on.

I've been busy today and the day has flown by without obsessing all day about what ifs! Feeling better, a bit blah at times but much better than yesterday.

Downloaded FF after seeing so many good reviews about it. I've imput the data I have from my other app and it tells me today is 10DPO (I thought yesterday was) and that last month my luteal phase was 9 days (I thought 10) so it expects me to get AF today which would mean I'd had a 9day luteal phase this month too.

No signs or symptoms yet other than a little light cramp on off which makes me think AF is coming but the cramp is so light I'm trying to remain hopeful as I usually have very painful periods.

I bought a bbt thermometer last weekend so haven't been temping very long but FF says my temps are fluctuating too much but as I have nothing to compare it to I wondered if anyone could shed any light? They seem too low to me post ovulatory but I don't have a baseline to compare to.

Oh I'm so impatient and want a little person growing in me now haha.

I don't like that decking temp though...

Sunshinegirl2015 · 17/08/2015 13:54

Declining not decking! And I previewed too doh!

mascaraisamust · 17/08/2015 14:21

Are you taking the temps around the same time each day? First thing? Before getting up/moving? Where it spikes should be where you ovulate. However, depending on how consistent you've been with your temping will depend on how reliable the results are. Get past today then Sunshine and maybe this is your month Smile

mrsmugoo · 17/08/2015 15:03

With temping you have to do it literally at the exact same time each morning I.e set an alarm

I've only managed one month where I was able to to do it at 6:45 every morning as ever since then it's been summer and I've had weddings and weekends away and my wake up times have moved.

The temps go up the later the time.

Sunshinegirl2015 · 17/08/2015 15:13

Thanks both. Hope so!

Have been taking orally setting alarm for 06:15 so doing it at the same time. We usually get up at 06:30.

Got a peak on CB advanced opk on CD20

Will keep you updated on whether AF shows or not. x

mascaraisamust · 17/08/2015 15:30

Fingers crossed for you sunshine. Not long to wait now.x

mrs you back now? How was the break?

OP posts:
mrsmugoo · 17/08/2015 20:38

Yes back now. Lovely wedding thank you and got lots of sunshine and sleeeep!

I'm on cd13 so things should be getting interesting soon but as I've been away I've not started opks yet and no sign of any fertile CM so if I do ovulate it won't be for a few days yet.

I'm at another bloody wedding this weekend, spending a night in a bell tent when I'll probably be ovulating. FML.

Sunshinegirl2015 · 18/08/2015 06:45

AF arrived this morning. Luteal phase was 10days this month instead of last months 9 and no A&E - the pain is bearable so silver lining!

On to the next cycle Xx

sunshinegirl12 · 18/08/2015 12:00

Sorry to hear AF arrived, but atleast your not in pain and your LP increased.

I'm on CD16, i should have ov'd at the end of last week but didn't have any of the usual signs that I would, so I stopped the B vits and now thankfully seem to be getting the usual pinching pains and CM that suggest I will ov in next few days. After I know I definitely have, i might start taking the B vits again in the hope they'll lengthen my LP.

Hope everyone else is ok x

Sunshinegirl2015 · 18/08/2015 12:25

I wondered about b vitamins but take pregnacare conception tablets which contain 727% RDA vitamin B1, 357% vitamin B2, 125% vitamin B3 and 714% vitamin B6 so not sure I need a supplement. 700% seems like so much!

I started taking evening primrose oil this morning 1000mg which I plan to take up to ovulation to help with CM and have been drinking 2L water everyday for last two weeks which I'm going to keep up too.

Last month was first month I noticed EWCM although only one day of it but not sure what that's down to - grapefruit maybe haha.

Hope this is your month sunshine x

sunshinegirl12 · 18/08/2015 13:36

Thanks sunshine, we started using Conceive Plus too this month so fingers crossed x

Sunshinegirl2015 · 18/08/2015 14:34

We've used it the past two cycles. It has great reviews and I like it as it doesn't feel too sticky it just feels natural. Let me know how you get on - fingers crossed for a BFP this month x

mascaraisamust · 18/08/2015 14:48

Sorry for AF sunshine, at least you managed to lengthen your LP by a day though. That's positive. Sounds like your doing all you can ladies, fingers crossed for you!

Mrs, that made me laugh. Enjoy the tent! Your social calendar is very busy at the moment!

OP posts:
Sunshinegirl2015 · 18/08/2015 15:17

Mascara yep doing what I can!

Also read in the book taking charge of your fertility that the wet watery discharge I experienced the other day is normal and is "merely an indication that the corpus luteum has disintegrated" and should coincide with temp drop - which it did.

Sounds horrible though haha not what you want to read when you're in the bubble of "I could be pregnant..."
