Short Luteal Phase

mascaraisamust · 05/07/2015 22:57

So after 6 months of ttc I've worked out I've got a short luteal phase of 9 days, however it could be even less. I get a positive opk on day 19 and 9 days later AF appears. I'm fearing it could be less that 9 days if I ovulate 24-36 hours after a postive opk. No suprises that there hasn't been a bfp yet. I'm thinking this is my obstacle. Seems I've tried everything else. Do I go to my GP? Is there any point? On preconception vitamins with b6 in and have been in them for three months and no changes. Also AF is really painful every month, wondering if there is more to this. Any ideas? Or anyone experienced/ing similar?

Agree with Mrs.

I'm exhausted today, bath and bed for me tonight. Everyone has being saying I look tired too!

Sunshine get a FRER and get a bfp! Hoping this is your month, I'd be suprised if it isn't with those temps. Loving your positivity too.

Sunshine12, it's expensive but even the consultation privately is worth it in my opinion. We were in there an hour compared to ten mins.

Don't beat yourself up for having down days, it can be tough! I've only told my best friend, no one else knows but I've decided now if family ask or close friends, I'm going to tell them as I can't do with the hiding/keeping everything to myself any longer as sometimes I look a social bore!

Bloods done, ready for the cycle of not trying/trying really/relax, have fun it'll happen/last dash before Christmas.

Mrs, the nhs told me take the cyclogest when I get my BFP. Should I take from ovulation really? What were you advised? Xx

I was told to take it 3 days from getting a peak reading on my opk for 2 weeks then POAS.

mascaraisamust · 14/10/2015 18:00

Ok brill I'm going to do that and if I get a bfp get another prescription!

Taking it basically artificially extends your LP to give a fertilised egg a fighting chance of implanting. I don't think I would have got a BFP without, let alone held onto it. Keeping fingers crossed though because it's still v early days.

sunshinegirl12 · 14/10/2015 19:13

Have had a chat with DH, he wants us to get an NHS appointment for us for next week, mainly for his SA. Agreed that the minute I feel we are being fobbed off or the waiting list too long, I can get my tests done private. Feel better now we have a plan so will start looking for a local clinic, as I'm fairly sure I won't be satisfied with the NHS appointment.

Have had a bit of a low day, the girl I sit next to at work's sister had a baby girl today so kinda made me feel worse.

Sorry if I've sounded like a right moany cow today x

Sunshinegirl2015 · 14/10/2015 22:35

Thanks Mascara!

Sunshine it's ok don't beat yourself up. I get down days too just riding that high temp this morning.

Glad you have a plan though - it's good to have something to head towards.
Did AF show for you? X

sunshinegirl12 · 14/10/2015 22:51

AF arrived this evening, glad in a way as I knew it was coming and was getting sick of the waiting. So had a good cry and now ready to start a fresh cycle. Going to try and be a bit more relaxed this cycle (any advice on how to relax is welcome??!) so will only temp when I'm due to ovulate just to confirm and DTD a bit more often. No more googling symptoms, if my mind starts to wander I'm going to read a book, and definitely no more pregnancy tests until I'm a good few days late. These are my rules now, I'll see if I can stick to them.

How are you feeling? Make sure you let us know what your temp is tomorrow, fingers tightly crossed for you x

Sunshinegirl2015 · 15/10/2015 06:21

Big temp drop of 0.34C so reckon AF will show today.

12DPO today which will mean an 11 day LP like last month.

Thanks for all of your encouragement though!

mascaraisamust · 15/10/2015 07:06

It's not over until AF shows Sunshine x fingers crossed for you.

Sunshine12, I think that's a wise choice that you and DH have made, you've got nothing to lose seeing what the nhs can offer but you've got to know what you want from them. I think I shocked the nurse with the level of detail I went into. Private appointments can be made in less than two weeks so it's not that you'll be losing time at that end. x

Also in regards to relaxing: keep busy. Plan stuff throughout the month and live life as you did before ttc! I've got something on most weekends to keep me busy as that's when I get a bit Google obsessed!

Ban googling!! In fact I'll join you!

I gave up temping as I couldn't get

Sunshine2015 - 11 days is decent! I don't think that's even really considered too short? An average one is 12 days. Mine was consistently 7 or 8 Confused
I think you'll get there soon!

sunshinegirl12 · 15/10/2015 09:36

Thanks Mascara, I do try to keep busy at weekends, I'm more an evening googler but going to stop that now!! alot of my good friends are big drinkers and wonder why I don't want to drink much anymore or go for nights out. I feel more positive today x

Sunshinegirl2015 · 15/10/2015 11:01

Mrs when I first joined this thread my LP was 9days. I think through trying to eat healthy etc I've somehow extended it. Now I don't want to leave haha as I feel quite comfy here.

No sign of AF yet and I have no cramp or lower backache so still hopeful.

Sunshine I tried to tell myself that I wasn't really trying this month (even though I was) thinking that if I could trick myself it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't happen. Also bought one of those adult colouring books which are meant to be good for stress.

The urge to POAS is strong but I've resisted so far.

mrsmugoo · 15/10/2015 13:03

I think we've all been / are going through the same struggles! I'm sticking around to see you all get your BFPs!

sunshinegirl12 · 15/10/2015 13:25

Ah good Sunshine, we don't want you to leave and Mrs its nice to hear how you are getting on too Smile

Maybe see what happens with your temp tomorrow morning and if it looks good POAS then (or do what I'd do and just give it a go when you get home!)

So DH is booking his SA, apparently they have a fertility specialist at the doctors so I'll go along with him to see what they have to say. x

sunshinegirl12 · 15/10/2015 13:42

So I have been looking at a couple of private clinics local to us, they say that a GP referral is required, I have contacted to clarify x

mascaraisamust · 15/10/2015 16:20

Don't leave meeeee!!

OP posts:
mascaraisamust · 15/10/2015 17:01

I emailed three private clinics and only one emailed me back so my logic was to go with them as clearly they are the most organised!

OP posts:
mascaraisamust · 15/10/2015 17:04

I hope you don't leave all, we solve each others little/similiar problems! We need a new thread name soon as we coming up to the 900 mark.

Sunshine!! You have willpower.

mascaraisamust · 15/10/2015 17:56

Blood tests results all back as normal Smile there was one which was refused on the nhs though. Need to work out which one.

OP posts:
mascaraisamust · 15/10/2015 18:00

They've not done prolactin or AMH...

Sunshinegirl2015 · 15/10/2015 18:26

Just got home from work. Still no AF and no cramp. No backache. No symptoms. Nothing. I feel fine. Really hope this is the month. DH wants me to POAS in the morning if she doesn't show. Keeping my fingers and toes firmly crossed.

I have no idea Mrs but if doctor thinks it's ok then I wouldn't worry otherwise they'd surely have given you something as a precaution?

I gave in and POAS. BFN. Nothing. Not even if I squint. Confused

sunshinegirl12 · 15/10/2015 19:25

Sunshine, if i were you i think i would have to test again now, I'm too impatient Smile

Mrsunsure, I don't have any answers but really hoping it all works out for you. Flowers has the spotting stopped now?

DH and I are booked in with NHS docs on tues with the 'fertility specialist'. We have booked adjoining slots so have 20 minutes rather than the usual 10, we're gona tell a little porky and say its been 18 months x
