Short Luteal Phase

So after 6 months of ttc I've worked out I've got a short luteal phase of 9 days, however it could be even less. I get a positive opk on day 19 and 9 days later AF appears. I'm fearing it could be less that 9 days if I ovulate 24-36 hours after a postive opk. No suprises that there hasn't been a bfp yet. I'm thinking this is my obstacle. Seems I've tried everything else. Do I go to my GP? Is there any point? On preconception vitamins with b6 in and have been in them for three months and no changes. Also AF is really painful every month, wondering if there is more to this. Any ideas? Or anyone experienced/ing similar?

Mrsunsure, I had brown discharge for 5 days before it stopped and all was fine until 8 weeks. I went to the GP at the start when I got my bfp and was told there is nothing they can do, which I guess is sort of true and that it's fairly normal. If you get concerned go to your local epau, most you can self refer if you have any issues such as bleeding but they can't scan you until at least 5/6 weeks as no heartbeat will be seen until then. They may offer progesterone though...

Try not to worry! Loads of people have spotting at the start with but if it continues past a week get it checked out or if it gets heavier.

Stop googling!

I had brown sludgy discharge for about a week from 10dpo then it stopped. I'm 5+5 now and counting down the days til Saturday 24th to be able to see a little heartbeat!

mascaraisamust · 13/10/2015 20:47

So exciting Mrs x

Everything crossed for you guys, you deserve it. If you can wait off testing do! I've no willpower!

I wanted to test tonight by DH persuaded me to wait until the morning. Gah how did they cope back in the day with out super sensitive tests and all the knowledge we have now!

Glad to hear you are doing well Mrs!

I can't say stop googling as I'm terrible at that too. Tonight I googled to see if it was ok to eat ice cream in the luteal phase. Mixed reviews. I ate some anyway haha.

sunshinegirl12 · 14/10/2015 06:31

How did you get on Sunshine? Fx Smile x

mascaraisamust · 14/10/2015 06:40

Fingers crossed from me too!

BFN. CD29. 11DPO.

Temp went up again is morning which I thought was a good sign as the last two cycles it's started curving down from about 8DPO.

Don't feel like AF is coming but perhaps she's hiding waiting to pounce.

How did you get on Sunshine?

That's still very early to test though Sunshine, try again at 14dpo. Was it a FRER?x

No internet cheapie x

mascaraisamust · 14/10/2015 08:18

Ahh. Definately wait a few days and get a FRER, chart looks positive!

Wow sunshine, your chart looks really good, I would be so over excited if I was you.

Not so good news for me, temp dropped again this morning though so its not much above the line now. I hate the though of having to go through another month of all this, and poor DH having to deal with my crying fit before hes even left for work. Definitely going to try to take a step back from it all next month, and take a leaf out of your book Sunshine with a bit more BDing. x

Sunshinegirl2015 · 14/10/2015 08:42

We didn't want to miss that window so made sure there were plenty of swimmers!

I'm still hopeful. Good to stay positive. I keep telling myself that everything happens for a reason and that each month it doesn't happen I learn something new or grow a little stronger.

My MIL is always on at us about when are we going to have a child but we just find her funny. She messaged me a few days ago to say she had bought wool and was waiting to hear that she has someone to knit for. Lol. You've got to laugh!

sunshinegirl12 · 14/10/2015 08:59

Ah bless, Does she know you are ttc then?

I need some of your positivity Sunshine, I'm usually a cheerful person but today I just feel like an emotional mess, I really need to pull myself together. One positive side of things is that I am more pleased with my cycle this month, even if AF arrives today I've made it past 10dpo without the usual spotting. x

mrsmugoo · 14/10/2015 09:06

I got a decent line on a FRER 12dpo - if you can wait til 13 or 14 days on a FRER I think you'd have an answer one way or another. Your chart looks lovely, fx for you!

Sunshinegirl2015 · 14/10/2015 09:18

Sunshine - yeah we told her. I get on really well with her. She's been like a mum to me (I lost my mum when I was younger) so it's nice to have her to talk to even if she probably is more desperate than me to have a little person around if that's possible!

Sending positive vibes your way! Star

Mrs - thank you! I don't have the VIP package on FF otherwise I'd most defiantly be comparing my chart to others but do feel positive that temp went up. If I don't come on tomorrow then I've beaten my longest LP by a day!

sunshinegirl12 · 14/10/2015 10:09

Have you tried anything different this month Sunshine? Really hope this is your month, I wouldn't be able to resist testing again tomorrow x

Sunshinegirl2015 · 14/10/2015 10:30

Me too!

Took additional vitamin c tablets 1 x 250mg a day on top of preconception tablets.

Tried to vary my dairy intake so some days had full fat, some days had skimmed, some days had almond milk and some days had rice milk as I read conflicting things about each so thought if I varied it it might help.

Oh and I read asparagus is good so ate quite a bit of that this month.

Whether any of that helped who knows.

I tried sleeping with a rose quartz under my pillow one month - think I read an old wives tale but thought it can't hurt - obviously didn't work lol. Things we try.

Going to try to wait until Saturday to test again. Whether I'll be able to if AF doesn't show is another story!

sunshinegirl12 · 14/10/2015 16:16

I dont think I'd be able to wait until saturday Sunshine Smile

When I get home I'm going to start looking for a local private fertility specialist, I've had enough of feeling helpless with all this and if I've not had success in the past 10 months theres not much chance now before xmas. Its all making me miserable so I'm going to get things moving. Do I need to go to my NHS doctor first or I can I go straight to private? I know our NHS one will be useless so really don't want to waste anytime grtting frustrated with them if I don't need to. x

mrsmugoo · 14/10/2015 16:25

You can go straight to private - I can't recommend highly enough, the difference is worlds apart.
