Short Luteal Phase

mascaraisamust · 05/07/2015 22:57

So after 6 months of ttc I've worked out I've got a short luteal phase of 9 days, however it could be even less. I get a positive opk on day 19 and 9 days later AF appears. I'm fearing it could be less that 9 days if I ovulate 24-36 hours after a postive opk. No suprises that there hasn't been a bfp yet. I'm thinking this is my obstacle. Seems I've tried everything else. Do I go to my GP? Is there any point? On preconception vitamins with b6 in and have been in them for three months and no changes. Also AF is really painful every month, wondering if there is more to this. Any ideas? Or anyone experienced/ing similar?

Yeah it makes sense with the clomid. I was prescribed 2 cycles of progesterone and clomid was mentioned as something to try next if progesterone by itself didn't do the trick.

I'm really rooting for you to get your BFP by Christmas!

mascaraisamust · 07/10/2015 19:52

Oh I am so hoping too! Hope you're getting on ok?

Sunshine you have committed to the cause again, maybe this will be your lucky month. You've certainly done enough. Fingers x

Yes it's been a week since my BFP and I don't feel any different!

I will probably regret saying this but I wish the nausea or something would start so I know somethings happening!

mascaraisamust · 07/10/2015 20:57

How far gone are you now? It's early days yet x

mrsmugoo · 07/10/2015 21:17

Really early days, tomorrow I'll be 5 weeks.

mascaraisamust · 07/10/2015 21:18

Plenty of time for symptoms then Smile

Mascara so happy the doctor seemed to be a good trip! Sounds like he's hands on and good you don't have to pay for bloods. Wonder what your GP will say?!

Mrs someone I work with said they didn't get any symptoms until they were 10weeks!

mrsmugoo · 07/10/2015 21:42

I didn't even know I was pregnant until I was 13 weeks last time!

mrsmugoo · 07/10/2015 21:45

I'm having an early reassurance scan in a couple of weeks when I'm 7 weeks when I'll hopefully see a heartbeat. Risk of mc goes down to about 5% by that stage so I will feel slightly more relaxed.
We still haven't told anyone in real life. I want to wait until after the early scan to even tell our parents & siblings. If it's not a sticky one then I think I would want to keep it to myself anyway.

Sunshinegirl2015 · 08/10/2015 06:21

Oh that's a good idea with scan. I know what you mean. I wouldn't want to tell anyone until after 20week scan but DH said he'd want to tell people the second we found out so that if something did happen I'd have a support network.

Sunshine did your temp go up? Mines dropped again this time below my cover line to 36.01C Confused

mrsmugoo · 08/10/2015 07:54

I'll be showing by 20 weeks, I showed at 16 last time. If all goes well it'll be parents, siblings and one couple who are our best friends after the 7 week scan and everyone else at 12 weeks.

Sanch1 · 08/10/2015 08:14

Morning ladies.

Cant believe I'm posting this, but what do you make of these?

I tested last night as I felt sick all day yesterday and then I ate a bag of galalxy minstrels last night and they tasted odd, same as when I was pregnant with DD.

I can't quite believe what I think I'm seeing, FF says I havent ovulated!!

mrsmugoo · 08/10/2015 08:17

Ooooh a feint line is still a line! Can you get a FRER? I've found those are the best tests for giving a clear result. Or a clearblue digi?
Congrats!!

sunshinegirl12 · 08/10/2015 08:26

Ah wow, congrats SanchSmile just goes to show we never know when it'll happen.

Sunshine, my temp has shot back up this morning. I think its still likely its just an estrogen surge, from what I saw yesterday a couple of people had previously posted charts with 2 low temps which then went back up. Sorry for the personal question, but have you also noticed more CM? I read this is also a sign of secondary estrogen surge, and I had noticed it as I never usually get any after ov. X

Sanch1 · 08/10/2015 08:29

What is an FRER? I know FR is first response but what the ER bit? I was going to get a superdrug one as they are really sensitive arent they? I dont think I'll believe it until I see it on a 'normal' test!

mrsmugoo · 08/10/2015 09:19

Yeah it's that - first response early result.

Superdrug are also good.

Sunshinegirl2015 · 08/10/2015 10:02

sanch massive congratulations!! Great news!

sunshine this morning I noticed a lot of wet discharge in my underwear (this was after I'd showered and had breakfast so I'd be up for an hour or so) and have a generally wet feeling down there.

Hi unsure, I'm probably not the best person to give you advice, sounds like mascara would be the best one for you. I'm sure she'll be along later with some good advice. She went for a private consultation with very positive outcome, could you do that?

Ladies, I have a very very feint on a superdrug, to go with the two internet cheapies. I've bought a clearblue digi, would you do it today, or wait until the morning? Don't think I'm going to believe it this time until I've read the words!

mascaraisamust · 08/10/2015 15:48

Sanch big congrats! I though I'd not ovulated when I got my bfp last time. Amazing! Fingers crossed for you xx

I'd wait to the morning now and do the digital with fmu x

mrsun sorry I'm back reading and playing catch up! 2 years and you've not had a referral to the nhs? Have you got a bfp in that time? Has anyone checked your for PCOS as this can cause erratic cycles.

If your current gp won't refer you I'd switch Gps and get a second opinion, request your medical notes and show them your results.

It all else fails save and go private! If that's not an option, ask outright for a referral.

Sorry you feel so low x

I told them I had a short LP, blood test had confirmed low progesterone, miscarriage (believed low progesterone would not support this), ovulating later on day 20, maybe not ovulating at all?! Sounds similar!

They said they would prescribe clomid and progesterone after one cycle as I've not had AF since mc yet....

For £200 it worth worth it, I said to the consultant I felt I was going mad as no one was listening and be totally got it and said it is a short luteal phase defect x
