Short Luteal Phase

mascaraisamust · 05/07/2015 22:57

So after 6 months of ttc I've worked out I've got a short luteal phase of 9 days, however it could be even less. I get a positive opk on day 19 and 9 days later AF appears. I'm fearing it could be less that 9 days if I ovulate 24-36 hours after a postive opk. No suprises that there hasn't been a bfp yet. I'm thinking this is my obstacle. Seems I've tried everything else. Do I go to my GP? Is there any point? On preconception vitamins with b6 in and have been in them for three months and no changes. Also AF is really painful every month, wondering if there is more to this. Any ideas? Or anyone experienced/ing similar?

That's odd. Perhaps you were about to ovulate but then your body decided to hold off until now?

mrsmugoo · 19/09/2015 10:58

Morning ladies. Cd17 here and temp rise this morning confirms ovulation sometime yesterday which is interesting since I got my solid smiley (peak fertility) on Thursday but no temperature rise yesterday morning - so ovulation was sone time between yesterday morning and this morning.
Think we timed DTD pretty well, so now I have two weeks of pessaries before I get to POAS! Hello 2ww!
It's all very exciting as usually I just get AF 7 days later and it's really disappointing :(

mascaraisamust · 19/09/2015 11:02

I don't think I've ovulated yet, opks still getting darker today. Using cheapies this month as we weren't meant to be trying, oops Confused. Started temping again, slight rise from yesterday of 0.15 but not a spike.

Mrs that's so exciting, got everything crossed for you! I'm hoping the progesterone is the answer! If it is I'm using you as my case study when I go for my private consultation Wink keep busy, tww is long!!!!!

Good luck ladies! Mascara keep DTD. My temp this month barely dropped when AF arrived and only dropped two days later which I thought was odd. Still gave me hope I might get a BFP. I didn't have a temperature and hadn't been drinking so now a bit sceptical of temps.

Still no pain CD4 today and have been super light for the first time in my life (even when on pill I wasn't this light) but no BFP. Wonder what that means for me this month. Fx.

I'm hoping this is a good sign.

mascaraisamust · 19/09/2015 12:47

Maybe the EPO has made a difference. Either way your luteal phase is longer and your AF is lighter so that has got to be a good sign! And the bonus is your coming towards the end of AF so you can try again soon. I reckon I'm due the end of Sept. That will be 4 weeks since the emc. Let's hope AF stays away (being overly optimistic here)!!

Hello ladies, thought id pop by and update on my acupuncture sessions, so ive had 1 session a week for four weeks so far and for the first time ever (since ive been tracking cycles anyway!) I ovulated on cd14!! I normally ovulate cd 18/19, even when taking soy it only brought it forward to cd16. Im pretty amazed, just hoping it also helps lengthen my lp, there is no chance of a bfp this cycle as dh has been working away, not a bad thing though because I won't be convincing myself im pregnant if af does arrive late!

My acupuncturist is confident I will get a bfp after a couple of months of treatment, obviously wont happen if actually I have problems im not yet aware of with tubes etc, but I'm impressed so far with what shes done for me and it's kept me feeling so positive.

Hope you ladies all get your bfps v sooner! Xx

mascaraisamust · 19/09/2015 19:12

Beansprout that's fab news. I'll definately consider it soon if things don't go to plan Hmm been reading up on it quite a bit and found a few contacts near me.

Hope you're ok xx

Morning how are we all? Well we've managed to dtd eod or everyday since the 10th. DH is on a health kick so I am too. Opks are still confusing, temp said a 0.15 rise again this morning. Today will consist of mostly cleaning! Hope you've all had a good weekend x

Good effort with dtd mascara let's hope you get some good news!!

mascaraisamust · 20/09/2015 19:14

Opks are still getting darker Beansprout so I don't think I've ovulated yet Hmm DH is telling me to count this month out and not to get my hopes up (which is good advice) but a little bit of me still has hope!

Hi everyone, i'm back from hols now, have been having a quick read through everything I missed, is everyone ok?

Well AF arrived yesterday for me as expected, so what with coming home from hols and an 8 hour delay at the airport, was a bit of a rubbish day. But was good to get away and DTD for fun for a change. x

Has anyone used raspberry leaf tea? Although it is commonly used in the 3rd trimester to help the labour, I've read alot saying it can also help when ttc, but as with everything so much mixed advice.

"Red Raspberry Leaf Extract, especially if drunk as an herbal tea. Taken during your entire cycle, this herb can help to strengthen your uterine lining, which in turn, helps to lengthen your luteal phase. Once pregnancy is achieved, you should only continue taking Red Raspberry Leaf under a doctor’s supervision and it should only be taken in the last trimester as it helps to tone the uterus and prime it for delivery."

mrsmugoo · 21/09/2015 15:25

Day 2 of sticking pessaries up my foof. Not a lot going on...

mascaraisamust · 22/09/2015 19:10

Not heard anything about raspberry leaf tea but ovia told me to eat bananas as they are full of b6 which is good for lengthening luteal phase! So a banana a day...

No sign of ovulation yet, dtd eod anyway.

Hi ladies!
Just wanted to say hello- I'm still hanging around (lurking) but nothing to report at the moment. On CD15, predicted ovulation CD29 so still some way to go. Hope everyone is okay xx

Sunshinegirl2015 · 22/09/2015 19:13

Hello. Was away from iPad all of Sunday and then yesterday I could get online! Nice to have you back sunshine. Sorry to hear about AF and I've not tried the tea but have also heard it can help. I think evening primrose may have helped me last cycle as had an 11day LP!! My longest yet!

Mascara my fingers are crossed for you. I've heard you can be fertile after a MC more that usual - not sure if that's true.

Mrs good luck. Pessaries suck. My GP offered them to me for painful AF except to go in the other entrance Shock I declined for now.

Nothing new here. Cycle day 7 for me.
AF was so light this month I wore a liner for a lot of it. Still six days in length though which was the usual.

As well as drinking grapefruit juice, taking pregnacare conception tablets and 1000mg EPO daily, I'm also adding an extra 250mg vitamin c tablets. Bring on that BFP!

mascaraisamust · 22/09/2015 19:39

Sunshine, you really deserve it! You must be rattling!

Not sure about the whole being extra fertile after miscarriage thing, also read ovulation can go amiss for the first few cycles Confused

Thats good to hear about bananas, I eat quite alot of them anyway (DH has a banana obsession) Wow sunshine, fx for you with all that!!

I'm going to start with the raspberry leaf tea and also try Robitussin this month, and booked in for reflexology on Saturday. What is the grapefruit juice for? Do you take EPO all through your cycle? Thats something else for me to google xx

mascaraisamust · 22/09/2015 20:02

I think I'm either going to try Robitussin or Preseed again next cycle. I'll get back on the vitamin C too I think (can't harm, keep a cold away for the winter if nothing else)!

I heard pineapple juice, not grapefruit juice?! I'll try that too.

Feeling a tad fed up over here. Feel like I can't do anything at the minute...but just wait.

OP posts:
Sunshinegirl2015 · 22/09/2015 21:25

Evening primrose up to ovulation only as read it can make you contract which isn't good for a possibly implanting egg.

Grapefruit juice up to ovulation as its supposed to help with cm and then pineapple juice and pineapple core (I just eat pineapple) for luteal phase as its supposed to thicken lining of womb.

Used robitussin last month and noticed more cm. whether due to that or EPO or grapefruit I don't know haha. Made my cm smell of the cough syrup though haha.

sunshinegirl12 · 22/09/2015 22:06

There is so much to read about, I found the following on pineapple if anyones interested

sunshinegirl12 · 22/09/2015 22:11

Sorry to hear your feeling fed up Mascara, think the waiting around feeling helpless is the hardest part of it all x

mascaraisamust · 23/09/2015 06:30

Especially when it's probably an annovualtory cycle by the looks of things. Temps tooks a dive today and yesterday by a whole degree to 35.55, hopefully a sign that AF is on the horizon? Sunshine you're a pro, translate for me!
