Hi ladies,

Just joined up & wanted to say hi & to see if anyone else in a similar boat to me?

I'm 29 and this is my first cycle off the pill. Currently on day 29th & so far not much is happening. I've been tracking my temp, so far no rise for ovulation. I have been treated for PCOS a few years ago but can't ever remember a normal cycle. I managed to get pregnant but sadly ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks. Went back on the pill not long after. Feeling nervous that my cycles could still be linked to PCOS or is this just down to the pill?

What have other peoples cycles been like when stopped the pill?

Xxx

It's so so frustrating!! You spend years & years dreading your bloody period & forever putting it off....and now that's all we want!!

I hate the waiting game as I'm super impatience but I guess that's all we can do. Maybe we should have more faith in our bodies & trust them a little moreWink

Fingers tightly crossed for everyone!!! Xxx

Haha every morning I am waking up and having the 'be patient and distract yourself chat' and every evening my oh points out that I am sat mulling over it! I'm on Half term this week but almost looking forward to getting back to work just so that my mind is on other things. Any news from your womb?

QforCucumber · 28/05/2015 09:11

can i join too please?

was swapped from Microgynon to Yasmin just over a year ago, had a mmc when I moved from the depo injection to microgynon a year before that Sad

Stopped taking Yasmin a month ago,had 1st af last week (21 days after stopping the yasmin) so now its just a waiting game to see how long it takes for the next one to arrive.

why is it you spend all your time worrying that a late pill will cause an accidental pregnancy, then when you want it to happen things don't play out the same way?!

ktkaye · 28/05/2015 09:48

Haha exactly!! If I'd missed even one pill when I was 18 I'd have been absolutely terrified! And now...
21 days is a good sign though Q, you might find you're one of the lucky ones and go back to regular cycles straight away. Are you TTC? X

QforCucumber · 28/05/2015 09:56

yes and no, we decided I'd stop the pill, not officially 'trying' until we know where my cycles are.

but certainly enjoying 'not' trying haha.

hannah my mmc was at 8 weeks and 2 days, awful - but just not meant to be that time. Flowers for you as I know how horrid it is.

RedAdmiral80 · 28/05/2015 10:24

Hi - can I join in too. Our first month of ttc after going off the pill. This will be my third time of trying; 1st baby caught straight away after coming off the pill and 2nd baby took 3 months. I am older now (34) and I also having an ovarian cyst, so I am wondering if things will take a little longer. Good luck everyone!

Belle888 · 28/05/2015 10:54

Kt that's exactly how I feel, you don't really mind when as long as you know it's coming!! If I put my realistic head on I guess 6 weeks isn't that long but when it's actually you waiting it feels like a life time!

Qforcucumber that is where I am too now until I have my first AF not particularly trying but not 'not' trying.

Are you girls doing anything different stop drinking taking supplements ect? I have just swapped my pill to folic acid for now. I drink socially at weekends and we are going on holiday for 2 weeks next week to celebrate our first wedding anniversary so will definitely be drinking then. When we are proper trying I was thinking about taking some of those pre conception supplements but again really want to try and avoid getting to sucked into it all and feeling disappointed if it doesn't happen for a while! X

ktkaye · 28/05/2015 11:19

Agh I love that there are other people who are the same as me Grin we are not not trying too! Trying to be 'relaxed' and if it happens it happens but not likely to ATM etc due to cycles not having started etc. It does play on my mind a lot though.
6 weeks (7 tomorrow!) is an age when you are feeling every twinge and checking your knickers every hour lol! I have stopped carrying tampons around in the hope that it will come.

I started taking some preconception vits just in case anything happens. They say up to 3 months before TTC is fine but I've restricted myself to that for now. Used my last opk yday and now no more! What I am finding equally bothersome is the 'what if' before every weekend. Belle I think this is what you are finding too no? For example this weekend we are off to a food/wine festival so clearly will be drinking and eating all day long. But WHAT IF I missed my ov and am actually pregnant? It's been more than two weeks since we started be more eerrr... Relaxed about him pulling out so I might do an early HPT just in case. I know it will be bfn but there is that tiny (insane) part of me that thinks maybe (and then will feel soooo disappointed even though we aren't really trying). Lol this is such a palaver!!

ktkaye · 28/05/2015 11:20

Oo and Hi RedAdmiral! Welcome x

Belle888 · 28/05/2015 12:10

Ktkaye haha I'm going to be your voice of reason! Honestly I really wouldn't worry about it if I were you. People go on everyday without knowing they are pregnant for weeks even months at a time. Sure we all want the best for our babies when we know they are hiding in there but until then I'm sure a few glasses of vino and the odd prawn won't harm! Maybe I'm too chilled though?! On saying that if it's 7 weeks tomorrow and no AF maybe a test isn't such a bad idea? Just to give you peace of mind? Xx

ktkaye · 28/05/2015 13:33

Ok Belle - you are right. One test then I'm being v quiet and eating prawns and drinking wine with abandon until something more definite happens. How are you today? X

Tamara160 · 28/05/2015 13:57

I've made a note of when I ovd and for how long and will do the same when I come on. I'm really trying not to get too obsessed with tracking etc otherwise I would drive dh mad! We're not ttc until August so I've got a few cycles to see what is happening.
I've learnt so much on mumsnet, i had no idea ttc was so complicated!!x

HannahFlo · 28/05/2015 14:04

We are the same, not really trying as wanted to see what my cycles were like after the pill & after PCOS I've never really had a normal cycle. However I think I am trying more than my partner ??

I hardly drink these days as I've just completed my first ever marathon & due to the gruelling training I pretty much gave it up. However the stress of ttc I might start again!

I've just pushed posted another thread & vitamins & minerals people are taking xx

Also another worry I have (there are many) is what happens if you don't ovulate in your cycle? I was pretty lucky with a 34 day cycle since the pill but I didn't catch my ovulation? Or will that take a few months too?

Belle888 · 28/05/2015 14:18

You'll have to let us know how you get on kt! Pretty exciting you never know!! Yes all fine my end - I'm pretty much 5 weeks behind you so not expecting anything exciting to happen for a week or so when AF will hopefully put in an appearance! Tamara I'm exactly the same as you I was supposed to be taking my pill until end of July but I just suddenly got really nervous it might take 2 months or so for AF so have just done it from now to get my cycle straight! It's fab having a site like this you can talk to people going through the same thing at the same time! X

ktkaye · 28/05/2015 14:46

Exactly. I think sharing my daft thoughts here saves my oh from having to listen to me!! He just tells me to relax. Which although good advice is easier said than done.
Waiting a few cycles seems like a good idea, can't be a good thing for our bodies not to have done anything naturally for 8+ years. What I wonder is what happens to all the little eggs which haven't been released in all this time? Do they disappear or is there a back log?! Feel like when I do eventually ovulate my poor little egg is going to be sooo pissed off it was made to wait so log it will just refuse all sperm access. (You see it is this kind of ridiculous chat which needs to be kept to a forum. If my oh heard me talk like this he'd probably seriously consider whether marrying me was a good idea!) x

Belle888 · 28/05/2015 15:33

Hannahflo post marathon fitness must boost your chances being on top fitness! Not sure at all on the ovulation side. I think it goes from the first day of your next period then you can work it out from that?
Kt my husband would say exactly the same! I'm guessing this is your first baby too? If you don't mind me asking how old are you? X

ktkaye · 28/05/2015 16:16

Gosh don't mind at all! I'm almost 28 and oh is 30. So quite young by today's standards I think, esp for london!! How about you? We were going to wait another year yet but I know how long everything can take to settle post contraception etc hence the earlier start. The theory is we won't stress about it for a year, if it happens, lovely, if not atleast we hd a head start and can begin to address any or obs earlier rather than later. X

ktkaye · 28/05/2015 16:17

And yes first baby!

Belle888 · 28/05/2015 17:16

I'm all but 26 and my husband is 35 and we live in Cornwall. Such an exciting time but it's hard to share with out pilling too much pressure and expectation on yourself! X

Tamara160 · 28/05/2015 17:33

HannahFlo, i'm the same as you, barely drink anymore. I'm just not bothered by it at the moment, which I suppose is a good thing for when BFP happens! I was wondering about vitamins and minerals too. I think I read somewhere that starting Folic acid a few months before you start trying is a good thing to do...

Belle888, I was exactly the same! Originally I was going to stop the pill in July but after reading advice on here and speaking to a few friends, I thought it would be a good idea to sort my cycles out first. DH panicked at first as he thought I wanted to try now haha! It's our first baby too, so very exciting! x

HannahFlo · 28/05/2015 21:23

It's so nice having this group...I'm so happy I posted!

It's our first baby too!!

OP posts:
ktkaye · 28/05/2015 21:40

Let's try and keep it going!! I think we are all hoping for summer/Autumn BFPs aren't we?

ktkaye · 28/05/2015 21:40

Without any pressure or expectation though ahem Blush

Belle888 · 28/05/2015 21:48

I was just going to say the same thing we are all at such a similar stage we should really try and keep in touch and see how we all get on! Secretly I have my fingers crossed it will happen for us within the next 3 months but I think I may be being slightly optimistic with that?
