Hi ladies,

Just joined up & wanted to say hi & to see if anyone else in a similar boat to me?

I'm 29 and this is my first cycle off the pill. Currently on day 29th & so far not much is happening. I've been tracking my temp, so far no rise for ovulation. I have been treated for PCOS a few years ago but can't ever remember a normal cycle. I managed to get pregnant but sadly ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks. Went back on the pill not long after. Feeling nervous that my cycles could still be linked to PCOS or is this just down to the pill?

What have other peoples cycles been like when stopped the pill?

Xxx

Ladies....I've just tested with my morning wee....and it's a BFP!!! I've done 2 tests (annoyingly I thought I had brought a digital test but it's not) and they have both come back positive!!!

I am in shock!!!!

Wow!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! Flowers what a wonderful start to the day. How are you feeling??!!!! Xxx

HannahFlo · 03/07/2015 07:03

I don't know to believe it or not? Think I'm going to get a digital test today & again see what that says?

God I'm so scared but so happy!!! My bf is home night & I haven't seen him for 2 weeks so can't wait to see him!!! I'm going to put a bun in the oven & let him get it out. See how long it takes for him to work it out!!

We should start doing thoses stats that other threads do - does anybody know how to do them? What cycle were you Hannah? Give us all some inspiration! I got an expected BFN this morning but hey Ho onwards and upwards! Xxx

bananafish81 · 03/07/2015 18:16

Hi ladies

HannahFlo congrats - seems like yesterday you were worrying about whether you were ovulating and now you have a BFP, . Awesome!

Well I’m on CD19 of my first cycle after coming off the pill. I wasn’t expecting anything at all, as the last time I came off the pill (in 2010) to find out why I’d never really had proper periods in the past (when not on the pill), I had to wait 9 months for AF to turn up! I know the ClearBlue Fertility Monitor says to wait a few cycles after coming off the pill, and that women with PCOS (which I have), but I wanted to try and understand my body a bit more, so have been temping, doing OPKs, checking my CM etc, so that when I start on the Clomid in a couple of months time, I would have a sense of what’s ‘normal’ for me.

Well, there may be something either to the idea that the first month off the pill some women have rebound fertility, OR the soy isoflavones I took have made a difference OR I’ve got false positives….because this morning I got a ‘Peak’ smiley face on the CBFM! I wasn’t expecting it, because I have no EWCM and it went straight from Low to Peak. But I’ve been using the cheapo OPKs as well, and they’ve always been completely negative, but have done 4 today and they’ve been getting darker and darker!

So if by some miracle my body has decided to lay an egg of its own accord, I think this may the first time I’ve ever ovulated! (may have done before but cycles were so irregular and with PCOS it’s v plausible all my cycles have been anovulatory)

I know PCOS women can get false positives - i.e. we get the LH surge but don’t ovulate. So we shall see. I’m hoping for the best but assuming the worst. But can’t help being amazingly excited just in case. DTD once today (both DH and I are working from home at the moment) and he will be getting his marching orders tomorrow as well.

Will see if my temps shift and whether the OPK changes back to negative, to get an idea of if I really have O’d or not. I’m not expecting any kind of BFP but if my body has magically laid an egg I will be over the bloody moon!

bananafish81 · 03/07/2015 18:18

I’m also massively symptom spotting haha. I have no idea what ovulation feels like, but I keep thinking I can feel a sort of crampy feeling on the right side - I think that’s just wishful thinking that it’s ovulation pain, as it’s prob just gas or something!!

stealthbanana · 03/07/2015 19:29

Wow! That's anazing Hannah! Congrats.

Well I've just come back from my apt with my gynae. Luckily she agreed that it was sensible to test for pcos and she did an internal exam and took blood on the spot - and I am booked in for an ultrasound on weds. She said that the blood tests were best performed on cd3 but given that I didn't have a regular cycle she'd do them anyway as she could still get some useful info out of them.

She raised an eyebrow when I told her my mother had just had a complete hysterectomy due to ovarian cysts and agreed I had a few symptoms that were worth checking out.

Unfortunately my dr is then away til the end of July but she said if I got stressed and wanted results earlier I could see someone else. I think I'll just wait.

I feel better knowing that I've got the process moving, she was very matter of fact and said we could move straight to thinking about other ways of conceiving if the pcos diagnosis was confirmed. So, we'll see!

Tamara160 · 05/07/2015 13:52

Hannah that's brilliant news! Congratulations!! Flowers So happy for you! I hope your boyfriend figured it out! haha xx

Margo5 · 06/07/2015 07:49

Congratulations Hannah - such great news! Be funny to hear how long your bf takes to work it out!! Lovely way of telling him too xx Flowers

bananafish81 · 07/07/2015 09:04

Hello ladies, hope your weeks are going OK. I can't believe it but it seems I have actually O'd on my first cycle off the pill. Given I went 9 months without a period after I came off 5 years ago (when I was diagnosed with PCOS) I never expected in my wildest dreams to lay an egg! I was hoping the +OPKs weren't false positives (which can happen with PCOS) - my temps have been up for three days so Fertility Friend reckons I did indeed O on CD20 and I'm now 3DPO! I'm not expecting a BFP as I didn't have any EWCM and my CBFM went straight from Low to Peak, so as it was so bloody hot wasn't prioritising DTD until I got the surprise Peak, as my body wasn't showing any signs of being fertile, and I assumed it would never happen this month. Managed to DTD on my two Peak days so did our best. I'm telling myself not to torture myself by poas unless AF doesn't turn up - previously I would have assumed no AF was because I hadn't ovulated so it's a v weird feeling to be able to expect it to turn up on a given date!!!

Obv I am telling myself not to use the CBFM pregnancy test sticks to test before AF is due, but part of me knows I will be dying to, even though I'm expecting a BFN and rationally know I'd rather test only if there's an indication that there might be any possibility of getting a BFP!!

Will deffo be taking the Soy isoflavones next cycle just in case they had anything at all to do with me laying an egg Smile

novinophobia · 07/07/2015 17:44

Hi all, congrats on the ovulation bananafish - I too have PCOS and don't know if I ovulate. 3 lots of blood tests in the last year said I don't, but I have had two 'normal' cycles since coming off the pill in April time, so I'm hoping it means my body might be sorting itself out!

AF came for me CD36 :-( disappointing, but I'm pleased I've had two cycles in a row of 35 days. Currently now on cycle#2 CD4

bananafish - I was in exactly the same position as you last week, opk positive CD21 and I was desperate to test before AF was due, just in case I had miraculously laid an egg and gotten myself pregnant. In the end I bought a test on the day AF was due (CD36) got home to find AF had arrived! Angry what a bitch. I've now put the test in the drawer for another time. If I were you I would wait until AF is due and then test if she doesn't arrive. BFN will depress you, whilst at least now you have hope that you might get a BFP a few days later.... BFN before AF is due will likely be negative anyway, so won't really tell you one way or the other

I have started temping now to see if it helps me work outif I am ovulating or not

stealthbanana · 08/07/2015 10:41

well i had my scan, and the doctor who did the scan has confirmed that my ovaries are polycystic :(

even though i kind of knew the answer, it's still making me a bit sad. i suppose the silver lining is that i got the answer in 3 months rather than waiting for 12-18 months!

i am fairly lean (5'9" and just over 9 stone) so a lot of the advice for managing pcos seems to be targeted around losing weight. i am seeing the gynae again the last week of july, i guess we'll see where we go from there.

le sigh.

Ttcbubba2 · 08/07/2015 22:52

Hi I was on pill for 5 years stopped taking it end of May and just had period after 42 days. I had stomach cramps for about 4 or 5 days and ovulated on 24th and 25th June I done tests to know this. Didn't do any tests on few days before but got negative readings after. I'm just waiting again nowConfused

HannahFlo · 10/07/2015 05:01

Hi ladies,

So I was 6 weeks & 2 days yesterday but I started bleeding quite heavily. Had stomach cramps over night so sadly I don't think it worked this time. I have a scan booked in this morning just to confirm things....

I feel so incredibly sad, only found out last week that I was pregnant & now a week one it's a different story. Also it's a second miscarriage, how lucky is that SadSadSad

News for me AF turned up CD47 just as I was starting to get really fed up. So good news my apps talking to me again and given me my projected ov days later this month x

HannahFlo · 10/07/2015 14:06

Had a scan this morning & nothing was there which they said could be a good sign. I could just be really really early....

They did a blood test but sadly my hormone levels were really low resulting in no baby so it's a early miscarriage. Not going to lie i feel very very sad HmmHmm

I'm now 70+ days since stopping pill with no AF. Tried evening primrose and Agnus castus but no change? Anyone got any ideas - am spotty, put on 4 pounds with constant pmt but no other signs :(

Tamara160 · 01/08/2015 17:44

Hi,
No change? It sounds like there's something going on... have you been to the docs? (I can't remember if you've said before without reading back through). You must be beyond frustrated! Hopefully something will give soon.
I hope you and your OH ok Hannah.

Hubby and I are now officially ttc! I think I am more excited than him haha. I shall keep you posted.

I hope everyone else is well too!
