Hi ladies,

Just joined up & wanted to say hi & to see if anyone else in a similar boat to me?

I'm 29 and this is my first cycle off the pill. Currently on day 29th & so far not much is happening. I've been tracking my temp, so far no rise for ovulation. I have been treated for PCOS a few years ago but can't ever remember a normal cycle. I managed to get pregnant but sadly ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks. Went back on the pill not long after. Feeling nervous that my cycles could still be linked to PCOS or is this just down to the pill?

What have other peoples cycles been like when stopped the pill?

Xxx

Hi Emily!

Welcome! Congratulations on recently getting married :)

Need a bit of advice ladies. I though AF was coming yesterday, but it still hasn't appeared. I was due on Tuesday. I know this is my first full cycle off the pill so it might still be settling but i'm starting to wonder. I bought some tests earlier and am not sure whether to do one. What do you think?

Mrs1986 · 05/06/2015 19:12

Go for it!! Especially before weekend and wine o'clock! Xx

Tamara160 · 05/06/2015 21:54

Just done it and it's a BFN for me. Thought it might be but feel better now I know for sure. I don't like being uncertain. Oh well, hopefully my AF will turn up in the next few days! x

Mrs1986 · 05/06/2015 22:59

Oh I'm sorry Hun! I guess see what happens with AF and take it from there. On the plus side- guilt free weekend of indulgence?

ktkaye · 06/06/2015 07:18

Ah Tamara it's a tricky one isn't it? Hopefully you'll be in full 'flow' soon and that will mean you know a but more about where you are with it all. Xx

Tamara160 · 06/06/2015 21:04

I've had a lovely day at the Riverside festival in Leicester so am going to enjoy a G&T this evening Mrs1986!
Feel disappointed after yesterdays result but I feel better knowing. Plus AF arrived with full force today - typically the day after I splash out on some tests! I'm glad it's here though, now I have a better idea of my cycle.

pinkdaffodil23 · 08/06/2015 09:38

Hi all
Can I join in
I'm 24 me and my partner have decided to start ttc. I took my last pill friday evening although u had only took a weeks worth of the month when stopping and have recently read that that can send your hormones even more wacko but I'm not going back to it now.

I was on microgynon then got switched to rigevidon. I have been on them for 8 years. Fingers crossed all goes well. I'm feeling very nervous and am worried it will take me years to get back to normal

Rose58 · 08/06/2015 13:34

Hi all hope it's OK to join?

I hope AF appears regular shortly for you all. I came off mercilon end of September 2014 just after we got married and are only now actively TTC as we were renovating and extending our house for 8 months!! (Stressful!) I'm almost 27 and my cycles since coming off have been

30, 29, 27, 27, 30, 24, 27, 31 - a bit wonky but I'm getting a period! Anyone experiencing spotting before their period? I've heard it's not good to spot beforehand so I'm going to the doctor this week for guidance! Smile

ktkaye · 08/06/2015 16:40

Hello newbies! Good to hear that people are generally back to normal after a while (but not me yet Hmph Sad). Anyway welcome!!

Tamara et al how are you? Xx

Tamara160 · 08/06/2015 19:01

Hi everyone and welcome newbies :)

Pinkdaffodil23 - My hormones have been all over the place. Very emotional and crying at the silliest of things lol. Poor hubby doesn't quite know what to do with me sometimes. I've been exhausted too, even if I've slept brilliantly. I feel ready to drop most days, but from what I've read it's a side effect of your hormones settling. Hopefully it will all settle a bit now my first cycle is almost out of the way!

I've had a bit of spotting for 2 days before I actually came on... do you know why it's bad Rose??

KtKaye - I'm good thank you :) Had a busy day so far so am glad to be home. AF appears to be fairly short and I feel so much better now. It made me feel really ill this time. I shouldn't complain though, at least its arrived! How are you?
xx

Rose58 · 08/06/2015 21:39

Tamara I've been exactly the same - crying at songs on the radio en route home from work!!! Ive read on NHS and various websites spotting isn't ideal before menstrual cycle as it can indicate you haven't ovulated properly or have a short luteual phase. I think everyone is different so just going to get checked out and see whsts what! Getting a regular (ish) period must be somewhat possitive?!

Tamara160 · 08/06/2015 21:44

Glad i'm not the only one crying at the drop of a hat!

Ahh ok... i'll have to keep an eye on the spotting. My luteal phase was much longer than normal this time but i'll see what happens next time. I'm hoping my next period will arrive when it should, i'm nervous that my cycle won't be normal next time :/ Have you started taking any folic acid? xx

ktkaye · 08/06/2015 21:54

Hi all,
Also crying at everything!! I had my class photo today with all my kids and got weepy. Also keep getting so weepy with oh - if he even slightly gets cross with me I immediately dissolve in to tears 'jjjuuussstt stop shoutinnnnggg at mmmmeee'! Even though he literally never shouts and hadn't actually said anything wrong, had just used a grumpy tone of voice! Had totally forgotten the emotional side of hormones - my implant flattened everything out completely. Maybe this is a good sign that my hormones are doing something!! Feel a bit like my uterus is this dusty forsaken warehouse that nothing happens in any more! Praying for AF v soon.
Tamarac are you going to start tracking ov?
Never heard the thing about spotting (toddles off and googles)

Tamara160 · 08/06/2015 22:12

Aww totally understand! class photos are heart warming at the best of times, never mind when you're hormonal! It's amazing how much the pill etc hides! haha oh dear our oh's must be terrified of us at the moment!
Is your AF late?

Yes, i'm going to attempt to track ov this time. I'm going to keep an eye on my temperature too. I think it may have risen last time, but I had a raging cold at the time so wasn't sure if it was just a by-product of the lurgey!
xx

Rose58 · 08/06/2015 22:32

Oh bless! Agree it's amazing what the pill was hiding!!

I've been taking seven seas 'trying for a baby' for 8 weeks now - I wonder if they had anything to do with my longer cycle? Not sure. I tried keeping a track of my temp but DH hated it and agreed to try if we didn't obsess. I have clear clue OPKs to use slyly (is that terrible!??!)

ktkaye · 08/06/2015 22:55

Rose - that is totally normal! (I think) have been secretly obsessively buying and using opks. No results so made myself stop testing for a bit but have caved and bought a dual hormone kit in the hope it will, I don't know... Bring me luck?!

No AF for 9 weeks since implant taken out. Not pregnant either and not ovulating yet. I guess I'm just one of those whose body takes a while to get with the program. In all honesty although I would be delighted to get pregnant I'm more bothered about getting a normal cycle back at the moment. Have asked oh to go back to using condoms for a bit so I know the wait is due to hormones regulating rather than possible pregnancy. It is heartbreaking to have a negative test over and over again even if we are only casuallY TTC.
I'm also taking the 7 seas vitamins. Ilike the packet as I often can't remember whether I've taken it, having the days of the week on there is helpful. Xx

ktkaye · 08/06/2015 22:57

Can't work out of my boobs are actually sore ... Or if they are just sore because I keep feeling them to work out if they are sore? Madness. Confused

Rose58 · 08/06/2015 23:02

I've had two friends who took longer to get AF back after the implant rather that us who were on the pill do give it some time. Good idea - I did exactly the same, you want to know your body and cycles first.

I used the CB Advanced digital OPK but didn't like them as had flashing smiley on CD 1 ( I didn't realise I was getting my AF!!) have bought normal digital instead of advanced to try this weekend.

Margo5 · 08/06/2015 23:09

Hi ladies! Tonight is the first time I have posted on here, hello! I have been with dh for 12 years, married for 5. After many years we have finally decided we are ready for a baby, both exciting and scary!
Been on the pill since I was 18, firstly microgynon and then for past 2 yrs Cerelle. Just taken my last one... Eek! Finding it all a bit scary as read some bad things about coming off the Pill especially Cerelle! Ho hum, what will be will be bring it on! Hoping side effects won't be too bad and AF comes quickly so I can start to work out my cycles...
I am a bit of a control freak but my dh is determined not to turn this into a 'scientific experiment'. I really want a spring baby but realise it could take longer than a few months to conceive.
Thought it would be nice to share experiences with others TTC their first baby having just come off the Pill...

Margo5 · 08/06/2015 23:11

BTW - I have recently turned 37 so hopefully haven't left it too late, what will be will be I guess!

Rose58 · 08/06/2015 23:35

Hey Margo! Similar story we have been together 11 years only married 10 months! Likewise I hope for a spring baby but what will be will be!

Tamara160 · 09/06/2015 00:00

I'll get some Seven Seas vitamins tomorrow then. KtKaye, your boobs comment really made me laugh! Probably a good idea to go back to condoms, give your body a chance to sort itself out. Fingers crossed AF makes an appearance soon and good luck with your hormonal kit!

Hi Margo! I really want a Spring baby too, partially because we have so many birthdays later on in the year haha! I'm trying really hard not to buy any extra tests and just track the dates using the calendar on my phone. So far I've been strong but i'm not sure how long i'll last when we actively start trying!
xx

allyd84 · 09/06/2015 19:22

Hi all, new to site too and no AF since stopping Yasmin 10th April, after years of being told even an upset stomach could result in missed pill and baby it now seems much harder than I was led to believe, wish I'd known as would have not waited so long to stop pill. Now no AF and GP said come back in 6 months :( worried pill may have been hiding something wrong but they won't do tests, just said not to worry as that makes it worse. Agreed with husband wouldn't worry for first year. Ha! have know bought 30 x opk one step on amazon and testing daily without oh knowing so I'm naughty too! Also have had 'pmt', crying, tired, cramp for 3 weeks but no AF spots or anything at all. TTC 1 and 31 in two weeks- wish I'd started earlier!

Rose58 · 09/06/2015 20:49

Hey ally - try not to worry. Do you have any holiday plans? Book some time away and relax. Enjoy the baby making process. Don't worry about slyly doing OPKs - we are all at it!!

ktkaye · 09/06/2015 21:19

Haha! I have this image of the hundreds of women out there furtively peeing on the little opk sticks every morning and evening and staring at them madly with one eye (or is that just me?)
News here... Slight pinkish discharge (sorry if tmi) but is this it... Is AF coming back??!!!!! Ppllleeeaaasseeee! I love would be soap oy. It's been so long since AF I can't actually remember what's normal for my body. Hope this is a good sign though. Does anyone else get this before they come on?
Apologies, I do realise how odd my fascination in my CM is but Where else can I obsess? Xx
