Hi Everyone,

I am a new sign up to mumsnet. DH and I (yes I have started using the lingo) have decided to start trying next cycle round. I have been tracking my cycles for a year and the are pretty accurate i.e symptoms match etc. Looking to chat to others in the same boat! Ovulating in 3 weeks and very excited to begin the journey!!!
26 years old, living in Edinburgh, CD21 (Missed Aprils ovulation as I want a spring baby is that bad?) First time trying :)

OP posts:

Thanks for replying Remember...though I wish you weren't in the same boat, it's nice not to be alone. Have given myself a good talking too, is definitely AF and not an implantation bleed. Currently eating a whole dark chocolate and orange bar which is definitely helping. It is quite big.

I shall join you on the countdown to OPKs!!! Is just typical the first time I have actually relied on my good ol' regular cycle, it isn't! It's a good wake up call. xx

bourbondreams · 27/04/2015 12:45

rehomed hugs :( I am sorry that it is AF and not implantation. I hope the chocolate is helping! Its made me really want chocolate now as well! sending hugs

Lookingforadvice123 · 27/04/2015 12:50

Sorry to hear af is here rehomed, but I'm going to stay what I need to keep telling myself - it was only your first try! And only 20-30% couples conceived first try.

I thought af was on her way yesterday (was due on, cycle day 28) but other than the most minutest, blink and you miss it but of light brown spotting/cm, nothing since. Since coming off the pill I've had a few 28 and 29 day cycles, one 27 days and one 31 days, so although I was expecting af yesterday I'm barely really late. Still if af hasn't arrived by the time I finish work in a few hours, I'm going to buy a FRER and test at home tonight. Hate being in limbo and would rather just know either way.

rehomed don't worry it doesn't mean your cycles are now irregular, apparently cycles that are within a few days of each other are still considered "regular". Just annoying that it's not like clockwork!

rehomedcitygirl · 27/04/2015 13:25

thanks guys. Am now getting excited to hear the results of the pissy party on Friday/Sat for those still in it!! Fingers crossed for you all, and Looking, that sounds promising and thanks for the stats...I think it was the fact I was taken by surprise by AF's arrival that made me feel so sad - I wouldn't have minded half as much if I could have had the chance to POAS first!!

susurration · 27/04/2015 15:47

first I spoke to my GP last week and he just recommended folic acid and healthy eating and exercise. Usual stuff.

rehomed sorry to hear about AF. I too had an unusual bleed this time just gone. Very short and light and earlier than expected.

who's in for the pissy party this weekend? hoping we get some BFP's on the thread.

bourbondreams · 27/04/2015 16:56

Which opk's does everyone use?

Charms85 · 27/04/2015 19:03

Can I join please? Smile 1st month Ttc and I have every symptom going... How do you stop yourself from symptom spotting it's so annoying!! Af due 6th may so still have ages to wait!! HmmHmm

Chip86 · 28/04/2015 07:24

rehomed sorry AF has arrived
charms welcome

So I tested this morning a got a big fat PFN
So will be patient and wait for pis party at the weekend that's if AF don't show up

Hope everyone is having a good week?

rehomedcitygirl · 28/04/2015 09:51

Charms hi! Yes, was terrible with symptom spotting too but have learned my lesson!!!!

bourbon am using the more expensive clear blue ones for the first few months then may switch to the cheaper ones. I got them about half price from amazon though.

Charms85 · 28/04/2015 10:08

Rehomed I'm terrible I have convinced myself I am!! We only dtd twice around ovulation so I'll never be so lucky to conceive first time!! Hmm

bourbondreams · 28/04/2015 12:03

rehomed thanks :) if doesn't work out this month, I might invest, just so I know a bit more about what's going on when. Trying to be relaxed about it, but I think it would be useful reading some of the comments.

Really have no clue, but are DTD a lot so who knows we might get lucky...

Lookingforadvice123 · 28/04/2015 12:50

I got a BFP last night, cycle day 29! Can't quite believe, barely slept last night I was too excited!

Charms85 · 28/04/2015 13:34

Congrats lookingforadvice... How long has it taken you if you don't Mind me asking and is this the first test All month? Have you had any symptoms? Sorry for all the questions! CxxSmile

susurration · 28/04/2015 13:58

bourbon I don't use OPK's. We're going with the JS-ing method for now. I keep a fairly close on my... ahem... fluids... anyway, so have a fairly good idea of what's going on in there most of the time.

charms welcome, welcome! don't get too hung up on 'symptoms'. That way madness lies Wink

lookingforadvice congratulations!

bourbondreams · 28/04/2015 13:59

Wow Congrats lookingforadvice that's wonderful news :)

Charms85 · 28/04/2015 14:05

Hi susurration... I'm trying my hardest not to but I feel like I can feel everything twinges, sick ConfusedConfused how can I stop it?! Xx

bourbondreams · 28/04/2015 14:27

susurration yes I am so undecided between it all, keep flip flopping from the should try to don't need to as we dtd often enough anyway...

maybe I will see how it goes over next couple months and then if its not happening, have a think why. I am tracking everything on an app so that will help I think. I have been making sure I keep track of fluids to, well trying to.

I think I am going to try and not think too much into it all until I reach 28 days and then if nothing will take a test and see if its worked or not.

With all my endo pains which happen, I think I would go crazy as no idea what is what and whether it was endo or pregnancy anyway! And I think I am crazy enough haha

rehomedcitygirl · 28/04/2015 16:19

Looking - CONGRATS!! Amazing news!

ItBoilsMyPiss · 28/04/2015 17:41

I use One Step OPKs. Cheap from eBay and reliable so far.

Lookingforadvice123 · 28/04/2015 18:07

Ask away charms!

Believe it or not (I still can't!) it was our first month trying. My cycles are average length around 28 days, we dtd on day 10, 12, 14 and 15 in the "fertile period" so assuming I caught one of those days!

I had random waves of nausea for a few days after I must've ovulated but I don't know if that was related. Then from about cycle day 24/25 I started having mild cramps in my pelvis/lower back, and very slightly sore boobs. My sense of smell is also definitely starting to get stronger, my colleagues coffee breath was not pleasant in the lift today Confused

It was the only test I took, a FRER which I took on cycle day 29 xx

Charms85 · 28/04/2015 19:27

Thanks looking! Our first month too I have a 30 day cycle and we only DTD on day 12 & 13 as hubby was away but I was defo ovulating as I had the egg whites!

I feel slightly sick and tender boobs Altho I always have tender boobs during my cycle and also have some cramping but it's hard to tell if I'm imaging these symptoms!

Due to test next Wednesday which will be day 30 of cycle! Smile

Another MASSIVE congrats I'm so pleased for you and I don't even know you ha! Xx

susurration · 28/04/2015 20:35

charms its really hard to stop thinking about it I know. I don't really know how I stopped. And tbh I still think about it a lot, even the months when I know i'm not pregnant I still symptom spot.

bourbon why not give it a few cycles and see what happens first? If you're charting you might not need to do the OPK's too.

Rememberallball · 29/04/2015 06:31

Massive congrats Looking.

Good luck with testing next week Charms

Charms85 · 29/04/2015 06:43

Thanks remember! Going to be a long 7 days!!

bourbondreams · 29/04/2015 11:51

Yes I think you are right susurration I will see how it goes.

I'm currently away with work and can feel all the signs I will ovulate soon. Didn't get to dtd with hubby before I left so last time was cd12 and won't get back til later on cd15 so fingers crossed I do catch it.
Only first month trying really though so will try not to be too disheartened if we don't manage it!
Stupid work getting in the way!
