Hi Everyone,

I am a new sign up to mumsnet. DH and I (yes I have started using the lingo) have decided to start trying next cycle round. I have been tracking my cycles for a year and the are pretty accurate i.e symptoms match etc. Looking to chat to others in the same boat! Ovulating in 3 weeks and very excited to begin the journey!!!
26 years old, living in Edinburgh, CD21 (Missed Aprils ovulation as I want a spring baby is that bad?) First time trying :)

Hi Laurawx

How erratic are your cycles? Have you thought about charting?

Hi guys - briefly posted a few days ago, and have been active on the just shagging thread too. but thought I would pop back here as its nice to be around first timers too!! So...basically, think I have one more shag tomorrow morning over fertile bit of cycle...I'm v lucky with regular 28 - 30 day cycles and also feel ovulation. I came off the pill in September 2014 but have actively been trying to avoid getting pregnant until this month! I just know how difficult it can be to get pregnant, so trying not to get carried away with overthinking our first month of ttc. It'll be interesting to see how many of us manage to get preggers first time!! Fingers crossed for all of us! x

rehomed you're right, it's really cool having a bunch of first timers. I had a look on some other threads but didn't understand all of the abbreviations and just felt like i didn't know enough - scary stuff.

I'm due on next saturday so will be testing just after you, remember.

chelle792 I looked on other threads too, and totally agree. It's hard to jump in when you are new to all this stuff.

Rehomed I think we might be due for testing around the same time.

Quick question about ovulation tests.... I have some cheap internet ones but just wondered if anyone has tried the more expensive clear blue ones and whether they are worth the extra money?

Hey guys I'm a newbie too and also on another thread but in a similar boat to everyone here! Been TTC since New Years eve (implanon removed) and just started with clearblue OV kit which has had smiley faces for the last three days. Been very active with the other half and will be starting my 4th 2 week wait! Finding the clear blue OV tests really easy as its a smiley face flashing when your 'fertile' and a plain old non flashing smiley when you're supposedly actually ovulating, didn't want to try and interpret lines on a strip as I'm a bit obsessive !

rehomedcitygirl · 17/04/2015 18:48

Ooh Elles would love a poas friend!!
I'm trying the clear blue smiley face ones next month. Got them cheaper off amazon but hoping that they just confirm what I think is happening...or maybe we won't need them?!? My sis used them and got preggo second month of trying but maybe she was v regular with cycles.

sponge i have read soooo many boards to try to figure out the abbreviations!! I like poas (piss on a stick!!)

POAS is my fave too! Baby dust and baby dance are a little twee for me though!

Hi all! Love the fact I found this new thread having just stopped the Pill on Tuesday. After 13 years together and our amazing wedding in December we finally think it's time to give this TTC thing a go. I've read the books, bought the vitamins and have ovulation charts at the ready. I've also enforced a strict 3 month health kick as we get our bodies in fighting shape. We'll start trying in the summer, but would love to share this journey with someone given I too can't tell anyone yet. You can imagine the in-law pressure after 13 years!

31, Warwickshire.

Hi All
Please can I join
ttc #2 1st month
I have an 11 month old DD who I am still feeding so AF is all over the place.
With DD I took implant out in June dtd once (because it can take ages) and found out I was pregnant in hospital in August, they thought the pain I was in was an infected tube hehehe.
So no idea what to expect this time and did not learn all the mn terminology.
I am 28, been with DH 10 years, married 8 years in June.
Nice to meet you all x

Hello to all the people who have joined Brew

I'm sooo ready to test, I have to wait another week!! I've been reading though this thread thinking what is poas? but you lovely ladies have cleared that one up for me Blush.

OH was late home from work today. I don't know if it was this thread that I posted that he doesn't want to chat about things. I nearly cried when he showed me why he was late. He'd only been to babies R us and bought an 'our baby' photo album and picked up a catalogue. His words were 'just because I don't want to talk about it doesn't mean i'm not excited.' He's off the hook for not talking about it now Wink

Hi all, I'm a newbie as well. We came back from honeymoon last week and made the decision to start trying straightway, so here we are.

We stopped using contraception really just before the wedding. I literally have no idea when I'm ovulating or anything like that so think I need to do some homework!

Hope you don't mind me jumping on the thread, I've been reading and it would be nice to share the ups and downs with someone!

Thailand, was amazing! wedding was fab too but so nice to get away..... For the last 4 days we literally talked about babies the whole time! I think we have both been ready for a long time but had to wait for the wedding.

EllesBelles83 · 18/04/2015 13:28

Hello all.

It's great to have people to chat to who are just starting to try too. There is only so much my other half wants to hear about ovulation and periods! I think it's difficult to talk to family and friends too as it puts you under so much pressure to make it happen.

rehomed excited to have a poas friend! I bought some more cheapy ovulation tests. As my cycles are so all over the place (ovulated on day 46 this month) it would cost me a small fortune to get the clear blue ones. But as you say here's hoping we won't need them Smile

I also find 'baby dust' a bit odd. I think it's just another way of people wishing you luck....I think Confused

Great to see other new names joining the thread, good to have other people we can be frank with without annoying our nearest & dearest.

Thought I'd mention that, in addition to ttc I'm also in the process of planning a wedding (September 5th) and really need to knuckle down and find a caterer who will provide a nice easy hot buffet for about 150 people! !

Thanks :) it seemed a bit more than spotting , and it was red / pinkish but had bits in it ( sorry but graphic !) I've never been early before though so was a bit odd for me - but like I say maybe I'm reading too much into it - this " casual" attitude isn't really working lol ! I've been taking folic acid for about 2 months - although have to admit I do forget sometimes !

These threads are such a good way to keep it from the other half how obsessive you get! Mine is desperate for kids but he'd think it was weird how much I'm tracking things

rehomed it's like Elles said, a good luck thing but it's so Disney - fied!

Clearblue is flashing and I'm supposedly fertile but no stretchy cm so very confused. I really hope this is the month as I should be testing around my o/h's birthday. I have no idea what to get him so a positive test would go down a treat in his card! 'Here babe have a pissy pregnancy test' !
