Hi Everyone,

I am a new sign up to mumsnet. DH and I (yes I have started using the lingo) have decided to start trying next cycle round. I have been tracking my cycles for a year and the are pretty accurate i.e symptoms match etc. Looking to chat to others in the same boat! Ovulating in 3 weeks and very excited to begin the journey!!!
26 years old, living in Edinburgh, CD21 (Missed Aprils ovulation as I want a spring baby is that bad?) First time trying :)

rehomed hello! lovely to meet you and thanks for replying :)

Yes I definitely agree, I think I will possibly use them at some point, I know friends who have used them and its really helped them when they had been trying a while and not getting anywhere. I think I can usually feel a twinge when ovulation happens. I didn't understand the pain I get when it happens until I mentioned it in one of my endometriosis discussions with the docs, and they said looking at the symptoms over my cycle that it tied in, so we will see over the first month or two if it works out, if not I will definitely be investing in some sticks. I think hubby didn't think we needed them cos we tend to dtd 2-3 times a week anyway at the moment, so wouldn't be increasing it too much, I was worried about pain, as dtd can be quite painful for me, but I am hoping we will be OK and able to deal with it, I do currently but who knows after a few weeks without the usual methods for protection. We shall see.
hahah! I would have loved to see his face when he realised you'd used his mug! i think I will have to find a ramekin or something to use for testing, cos I can be rubbish with trying to pee on the stick - how is it so difficult? I did a couple of tests before AF came for the first time since stopping my pill cos I was unsure after it had been so long...
silly question but is there anything you should do after dtd to help? I have no idea on these things...

rehomed I hope that my clear blue was truly the 55% accurate from 4 days before like it said. I'm still not willing to give up on this month yet! I'm loving the rebellion of using his favourite mug Wink. We could both test sunday if you're up for it?

im pretty new here too, desperate to chat about ttc!

It definitely can happen in 1 month, when ttc #1 I thought it would take ages, but it worked first time, took us by surprise!

Ttc #2 now and using fertility friend ap as I dd for first (I love it) ovulation tests (cheapies from Amazon work fine) and I'm due to take a test on Friday!

Sitting here feeling my boobs wondering if they feel prego yet ... And regretting not having my last glass of wine!

bourbon two to three times per week!! Wow! We have really dropped off (mental year, late nights etc) so ttc has actually been lovely as we have dtd more than usual!

In terms of doing anything after, I haven't done anything special (and got told off for 'wasting' his sperm at the weekend!!) But others say definitely making sure you come after/at same time ha! helps suck em up.

gelizabeth i deffo didn't have a cold beer last night in the evening sun what can I say...am in denial!!

chelle ahhh i didn't realise is only 55% accurate!!!! Think this sunday would be just a bit too early but i may crack!!

Haha rehomed! I'm actually due AF around the same time as you. I am going to try an wait to see if my AF comes first and then do a test.

We should do at same time! Lol

There will be a surge in sales of frer on friday/saturday I reckon as it looks like we're all due to test around the same time!!

bourbon you're not alone. We dtd about x4 per week roughly, sometimes more, sometimes less. But then we are still quite new in our relationship. The only difference is that he doesn't pull out now Blush and he isn't so rough Grin he's going to be mega protective over me when I am pregnant. Might do my head in Wink.
rehomed maybe it depends on the test. I read a thread saying which test and apparently clear blue is rubbish (according to one lady). I used clear blue and the box said 55%. A bfn is disheartening and I've convinced myself I'm not pregnant but there is still that 45% hanging over me!

Chelle792 hiya! yes it all depends on work for me, if I am away I can't dtd :( next week towards the end of the week is when my tracker reckons I will be ovulating (thurs) and I am away with work Weds/thurs - I'm back thursday evening so we will have to make sure we dts before I leave the tues/weds am and when I am home... normally when I travel I am a bit too tired when get home, but will have to make sure I make an effort ;)
i think my hubby may get a bit much if we get pregnant too - he seems to be making such an effort already and we are only trying! He has been desperate for babies for ages! lol.

rehomed hahah told off for "wasting his sperm" that did make me chuckle... will have to tell hubby he needs to bring his A-game - or should that be O-game each time then ;)

i think i need to get up to date on some of the lingo - what is bfn?

Great itwillhappen - I think you, me, elles and sponge are all due to POAS around 1 May?? Correct me if I'm wrong guys...this also happens to be my 6 month wedding anniversary, which I forgot when DH was asking me about what special thing was happening on that date!! I definitely think we should make it an event!!! See y'all at 7am!

Ps bourbon - BFN = big fat negative? BFP = big fat positive. I think!

And Chelle you are definitely still in the game this month!

Yes I am testing the first Saturday in May as well
Don't know how I am going to not test between now and then.
DH was very protective over me when pregnant, and when DD was first born, he is a great dad really hands on Grin

Morning all

Had such a busy few days at work, I can't wait for the weekend!

Also, this two week wait business is doing my head in. Every morning I have to stop myself from testing Haha. Which is ridiculous as still have a week to go!

rehomed loving 'pissy party' Smile 1st may it is!

Good luck to those due before. My fingers are crossed for you Flowers

AF came this morning. Which is a double edged sword.. At least I won't have to ditch the two months of conceiving vitamins and can take some Rennie for the sick feeling!! Although I'm gutted really. OH is too, he keeps telling me not to be too disappointed. I'm doing ok but it's obv on his mind. I'm actually more ok than I thought I'd be.

Wasting his sperm? That's awesome. This week I'm not fertile so can waste as much as I want Wink

chelle sorry it didn't happen for you this month, make the most of the wine and soft cheese, and all the best for next month
Stripes how are you now?

Chelle - argh sorry to hear that. But you are rightly keeping perspective on this...only the first month. Flowers and Wine Wine Wine (& rennie)

bourbondreams · 23/04/2015 15:50

rehomed thanks! That makes so much sense! Don't know why I didn't think it being that! D'oh!

ellesbelles I hear you! I am also looking forward to the weekend, this week has been crazy at work and I can't wait to sit and relax for a bit!

chelle I am so sorry that it didn't happen this month, fingers firmly crossed for next month. Enjoy some Wine over the weekend and get ready to get at it next month Wink Flowers Cake

Fingers crossed for the rest of you testing on May 1st... I don't think I will be testing til mid may? As my app says 30th is my most fertile day... I am totally expecting it not to happen this month, as I am away 29th and back late on 30th, so would be unlikely but still give it a go Wink

Its so nice having people to discuss it with that are also going through it all too! It already makes me feel more relaxed about it all and not so stressed cos I cant talk about it!

I'm just going to focus on wedding planning instead! We've decided to go for it. I'm so excited for those testing on the first!! I hope we are lucky and get some BFPs!!

I'm also thinking that planning the wedding might take the pressure off the baby making because we will technically be trying after we have the wedding Wink. Also means that OH won't have to be so sentimental about having sex again. He's become.so tender and sentimental. Just not my thing! Grin

rehomedcitygirl · 23/04/2015 18:31

chelle - when is the wedding going to be??? V exciting to have made the decision to go for it. And i hate tender/sentimental too, though is not often a problem with DH!

We are thinking probably November. Although we want a picnic wedding reception and then a campfire so might have to be brought to September. We will have to hope and pray for decent weather!! I think OH just thinks baby making is more special and so responds accordingly

chelle i got married on 1 November...definitely couldn't have had a picnic (much rain and wind)! But is quite handy getting married at an 'unpopular' time of year as you tend to be able to get the venue/caterers/band (or whatever) you want as they aren't booked up years in advance! It worked for us and we made everything autumnal..

Report
bourbondreams · 24/04/2015 08:54

chelle yay! Wedding planning! I love weddings! :) November may be a bit tricky for a picnic wedding reception, have you thought about October? That has generally been lovely the past few years, so that might be a good choice as not as peak a month as September. I got married in October - but we got married abroad, so the UK weather wasn't really a focus for us, but it is a great month for getting married as it is a bit cheaper than September, as starting to get "off season"
You will have to keep us up to date with your plans

Report
chelle792 · 24/04/2015 09:05

I didn't really think about October but that might be a good call. We are definitely going to have to have a plan B on this one. November 6th is our anniversary so I thought that might be nice.

OH hasn't actually proposed yet (he's dreading asking my step dad) but he said I should still wedding plan and he will propose in the next couple of months.

We are so jumbled up!
