AF arrived this morning, CD34. Probably won't be a +ive november for me either as DH is going away for 2 months sometime later this month, so he probably won't be here for my fertile window, but ya never know (in the army the dates for things change all the time, so gotta keep hoping). Will keep using my Persona this month just in case we can fit one or two BDs in at the right time.

hello all

well i went to the doctor and he said not a lot really! I have to wait a week to see if af arrives and if not then i have to wee in a pot (lovely) and take it to the surgery next monday morning. It will then be sent to the lab to see if i am pregnant and then i will get results two weeks thereafter.

So feeling very low. I have slept and just laid on sofa today. I am scared to go to the loo just in case af arrives. I think this may be in my mind too but im sure i have been getting very mild aches in my lower tummy area.

I am going to have another day off tomorrow and just rest up and see what happens with this body of mine.

Hey Rubles, nice to see you. Hope the old witch stays away for you

Hello Kyte - I totally agree with you about teaching this stuff to younger girls in fact, I noticed this morning that Toni Weschler has just brought out a book for teenagers on understanding their cycles. Very good idea in my opinion. Also ladies, the new edition of her book TCOYF comes out this month too. Re my pains, thanks for the sympathy, they are a few days earlier than my usual AF pains, trying not to let that get me too excited. Glad the BDing is going well, so far so good! when do you/did you OV?

Welcome Sunshinedays

Hello Uki - thanks for the good vibes . Can you OV twice in a cycle? I thought you couldn't? I have more CM than before too but then again, I did last cycle too so I'm trying not to get my hopes up. How many dpo are you? There is an estrogen surge apparently that can give you CM again around 5-7dpo. Not heard about a cervical plug before, how does that work? Babydust to you and I hope you get your BFP this month

Thanks mrspf how are you feeling?! I'm going to wait to test on Sat if AF doesn't arrive on Friday, in previous cycles, I have tested on 10dpo because I know you can tell then (well some can) only for AF to turn up the next day.

ohh Female - keep us posted, sounds interesting!

Thanks RachelRose Thinking of Endless too. Chin's up, promise! Yipee for EWCM, see, the grapefruit juice does work!! If I had the TV to myself, I'd be watching Spooks at 9 (and Sky plus-ing Wife Swap) and then Without a Trace at 10 and then Wife Swap - hope late shift doesn't end too late

You could have OV yesterday by the sound of things. Want to show me your temps? If you did, it's still worth BDing tonight especially if you still have EWCM. Sounds like you've got some good BDs in there!!

Hello Firststar - hope the OPKs help, they have before for me but not this cycle, a whole week of negatives!

1n2s - poor you, I'll have to fight DH for the hotwater bottle if AF arrives, he needs it for his back at the mo, poor thing. Hope you are in less pain today. My cramps are generalised in the lower ab really and my lower back is really achey.

Ready - give us some details of temps over the last week and we'll check them out for you.

Angua - feel for you we'll keep you company.

Hey Endless - feel for you and we are here if you need to chat. It's the need for patience again isn't it!! Everything crossed for you, take great care of yourself.

ready4motherhood · 30/10/2006 15:27

MrsMc - I thought I read that you can OV twice, well, release 2 eggs a couple of days apart in the same cycle. I have read soooo much lately though, so I could be confused!!

My temps...
CD10 - 36.32 (taken 1/2hour later than normal)
CD11 - 36.26
CD12 - 36.25
CD13 - 36.23
CD14 - 36.21
CD15 - 36.21
CD16(today) - 36.38 Is this enough of a shift?

BDed - CD10/12/14/15 Not sure this is enough?

Thanks for taking a look MrsMcJnr - what a star!!

cityangel · 30/10/2006 15:45

Hi everyone, sorry am not much of help with temps but think it needs to be a 0.3+ shift?

Have decided to use OPKS this month. From what day can OV technically start from? Is it CD8?

I usually OV much later but want every day to be covered. I am planning on going for a daily morning test if one comes up positive what does it imply OV that day or in the next 2?

Sorry for all the questions!

ready4motherhood · 30/10/2006 15:56

Oh... My book says at least 0.1 degree C higher... I didn't start temping from the beginning of my cycle as I am just trying to get into the routine, but was hoping that I would still be able to see what I OV'd...

1n2s · 30/10/2006 16:27

I've only been using them for 3 months.

I tried clear blue OTK the first month and started on day 8 and ran out by day 13 - so got in a muddle. Then tried them the next month and started on day 10 but got no definate line both very faint.

Last month a good friend told me to use first response OTK. I start testing on day 10 and then usually get a definate line around day 13, depending on my cycle. They're much easier to read so you know what you're doing then.

I usually test when I get home from work/late afternoon then its the same time each day.

Nixz · 30/10/2006 16:36

Hi ladies
I was wondering....
You know that blood test that you have to see if you are ovulating (the day 21 test??)
I go for that tomorrow, so does that mean i am ovulating NOW??
I apologise if it is a dumb question, but i get so confused with all the diff phases and dates!

sunshinedays · 30/10/2006 16:41

The day 21 blood test is done to look at your hormone levels to check whether you have already ovulated. It won't help you this cycle but will help reassure you that you are ovulating.

Don't worry - all you do is sit still while the nurse takes a little blood sample then it is sent off to a lab. Think results take about 7 days

sunshinedays · 30/10/2006 16:43

Nixz... also meant to add it is called the day 21 test because the average cyle is 28 days.... it should actually be taken 7 days before the end of your cycle.... for example if you normally have a 30 day cycle it should be done on day 23... confusing isn't it!

Nixz · 30/10/2006 17:05

hi, thanks.
I have had it before, i have a dd who is nearly 6 and she took years for us to conceive her and i had all the tests then, laparoscopy, salingraph..thingy!!!! We have been trying for a long time for a scond and i have only recently made the appt with GP to discuss next steps. I am a bit disappointed that i have to go through all the tests again before referral.
I was confused about the dates as i was using OPK which said i was ovulating but GP said that as im cycle is 36days, OPK would not have been accurtae -?? yes, it is so confusing! It is day 29 of my cycle tomorrow, so that is 7 days before end.

MrsMcJnr · 30/10/2006 20:33

Hi Ready - ok, checked my book for you to make sure I've got it right . TW says that you can only ovulate once in a cycle. You may release more than one egg during that process but the process itself will only happen once. If you release more than one egg, it will all happen in a 24 hour period.

I think you need a few more temps to see whether or not you have OVd. Don't lose heart As Cityangel said, you need a temp at least .3C above your coverline (and yours is currently 36.3C) to confirm that OV has taken place. Ignore the second decimal point and round down to the nearlest .1C. See what happens over the next few days and a pattern should emerge for you. Once you have 3 temps above your coverline, that is considered a standard thermal shift. Hope that helps Hope that helps. Temps only tell you once you have OV so monitoring CM will help to tell you when you are about to.

Cityangel - I think you can OV from CD8 so if you are being cautious, you could start then but you may end up using the whole packet before you OV (been there, done that!) I OV between CD16 & 18 and was advised by my MN pals to start using them on CD11. As Firststar said, morning pee is not the best to use, best is apparently between 10am & 8pm and try to use them at the same time each day. A positive is meant to mean that you'll OV within 36 hours.

sideways · 30/10/2006 20:38

Oh well, first signs of af today, so I guess she'll be here properly tomorrow . What a bitch!

I'll try and get a drs appointment for tomorrow. Should have done it months ago really.

babyfettle · 30/10/2006 20:48

Hello - wondering if you had room for another one to join you?

I had mc in Feb 06 after TTC for 9 months for baby no 2 (took 2 yrs to conceive DD). Complications following ERCP meant we couldn't start TTC again until May. DH went away for 5 months in June, but he is back on Friday, which will be CD14 of a 30ish day cycle, so keeping everything crossed we will have a miracle this month.

Hope he's got some energy when he gets back

Just reading Toni Weschler's book, so attempting CM monitoring (already monitor BBT) and having grapefruit juice, which does seem to be having some effect already!

Lots of luck to all
x

sideways · 30/10/2006 20:51

Hi babyfettle, welcome

Perfect timing for dh to get back! Does he know what kind of welcome he will be getting ?

babyfettle · 30/10/2006 20:53

He has a vague idea I'm sure - I just hope we get DD asleep at a reasonable hour!

Sorry to hear about your AF

take care
x

Cyee · 30/10/2006 21:16

Your posts have all been tremendously helpful to me as I have lurked around the past few months.

I have just got my bfp and wanted to tell you how I've been feeling because I have found everyone elses posts about symptoms etc. incredibly helpful. I don't temp, but am pretty sure I ov'ed on Sunday Oct 15th. About a week later boobs felt a bit heavy - not bigger. Then a day later I had a sensation that I can only describe as being as if there was a thread threaded straight through my nipple being very gently rolled from side to side - kind of like when you roll a piece of thread/wool between finger and thumb before threading a needle (I should join the cardi post!). Otherwise I feel like AF is about to come on at any moment. The only weirdness is the boob thing, they sort of tweak every now and again.

In terms of 'hitting the spot' it was missionary or doggy with my lovely lovely dh putting his post coital slumber on hold long enough to leave me in the room alone so I could stick my legs in the air! Seeing me in that position would have put him off bding forever...

Wishing you all lots and lots of babydust.

FemaleoftheSpecies · 31/10/2006 07:56

congrats Cyee - i agree re posts on here being helpful

my af arrived last night, four days late. feeling quite grim

thinking positive have asked dh to take his vitamins without me having to remind him . but not sure what else i can do.

particularly gutted this month as it's been six months but also a very smug (sorry, she is) colleague returns to work in a week or two from having no. 2. she won't hold back in asking me personal questions about 'have you been trying' etc - her particular fave is saying how easily she's fallen preg both times having only the one ovary.

cant believe i've gone years trying not to get preg, not wanting kids even. now i do and it's so difficult to achieve.

babydust to everyone else :-)x

Bodkin · 31/10/2006 08:13

Have had a busy few days, so not been able to post for a while. Have had a quick scan through though, loads to catch up on! Congrats to the BFPs, Commiserations to the AFs and Hang in There to the in-betweeners!

CD 20 for me today. Nothing much of note in the symptoms department. Felt really blue on Saturday in a kind of hormonal, "don't know why I feel crap but I do" way and thought it might be v. early pmt but feel fine so far this week and no sign of AF yet (although I did dream I had last night, and was mightily relieved when i went to the loo this morning!)

Had crazy Halloween party yesterday afternoon for DD (2.10y) and all her mates. Thought it would be chaos, but it was great and kids had such a ball. Mulled cider for the grown ups certainly took the edge off things!!!

Will try and keep up with things a bit more this week!

Bodkin · 31/10/2006 08:20

Just missed your post, Female. Really feel for you. Your colleague sounds like a nightmare!

Congrats Cyee - lovin the description of the tweaky nipple thing!!! When I was pg with DD, I suffered terribly from nipple cramp whenever I got cold. Like having bulldog clips on my nips Would actually make me cry in pain sometimes.

rubles · 31/10/2006 08:49

Well AF arrived this morning, dead on time. Strangely my temps were up when I woke, so my hopes were raised for about half an hour until AF's arrival. Not feeling too peed off about it, because I really expected it to come.
I have just mentioned to dp that the time has come for him to start making changes to his lifestyle as it is not fair on me to be de-toxing and taking a whole handful of vitamin pills and supplements if he continues to smoke loads and drink loads every single day without taking any supplements. Something has to be wrong with one of us and the assumption seems to have been made that it is me - either biologically or mentally (as in, I am not relaxed enough). He keeps saying he will do it, but he doesn't actually get around to it. So, I have just said to him that it is time now that he comes up with timescales of change instead of vague mutterings of 'must clean my act up sometime'. There could be an argument in the offing, it depends what reactions I see from him over the next few days.

Cyee - thanks for that and a big congratulations for your BFP.

Female, you sound gutted. Really sorry - it's grim isn't it.

endlesslove · 31/10/2006 09:25

Hello all. Still no sign of AF and still down in the dumps. What i hate is the unknown. I do feel like AF will arrive any minute though. Not really cramps but i can tell with my mood, skin, a very very mild ache, want to cry every second and generally feeling down. I am CD30 today and am anticipating AF arriving on Friday. I did get that BFP on CD27 so that was very early. Did another pregnancy test this morning and was BFN.

FemaleoftheSpecies - Sorry about AF, its a drag, but once it does arrive and after a couple of days in, you will start to feel a little bit positive for the next month of ttc. The worst bit I find is the waiting for AF to arrive and then the first couple of days.

Cyee - Many congrats to you and thanks for sharing with us your advice and symptoms.

Babyfettle - Welcome and wishing you lots of babydust.

Sideways - I do hope AF stays away for you. Has she arrived today? Like I said to FemaleoftheSpecies, you are in my opinion at the worst part of the cycle and just pamper yourself. If its any conselation, I am having a crap time too at the moment as you can probs see from above and I just want you to know that you are not alone (FemaleoftheSpecies that applies to you to and anyone else at the crucial part of the cycle).

Rubles - Same as above. Keep your chin up.

Good luck to everyone else. Babydust to all and hope hormones are not getting the better of you.
xxx
