This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

Thanks Lindsay and Victoria. I have wasted a lot of today trying to look these things up online but as ever your comments seem to make the most sense. I'll go back and ask the Drs. re. the day 3 test. AF is due on Monday so perhaps I'll be able to get that one in this month or next.
Gah I've had cramping for a week. Looking forward to getting AF out of the way (OK I lied I mean the 2ww) and then banning myself from reading MN every day. I should be trying to drum up work, not reading this!

cooperG · 03/10/2014 17:35

view I think fsh and lhm are meant to be as close as possible to each other, yours were so that's got to be good news right?
Any updates from anyone else?

lildottie · 03/10/2014 18:28

view ask them to test amh. that can be done any time of cycle and estimates reserve. mine was 40 which is high end of the range. I don't know much about FSH as wasn't tested - why do FSH and LH gave to be close to each other? never heard that.

Viewofhedges · 03/10/2014 19:41

Thanks Lildottie, I will. I think FSH and LH being close to each other helps rule out PCOAS, which is good, as that runs in the family (though I've always thought I don't have it). Thanks for all the feedback on my tests. Means a lot, and DH appreciates it too!

Lauraqc · 03/10/2014 23:24

Hi all, glad some of you can decipher the results as mine have just come in and ready to collect...will try and get them and put them on here tomo for your expert eyes! Hope all good news View!

I'm still waiting for af, no symptoms whatsoever. Like you Vic I've had a week of terrible eating and almost no exercise...!

Nonconformist34 · 04/10/2014 09:15

View Glad that you're able to get some answers from here, amazing how some of us can interpret them better than the GP!

Vic Pleased your HSG went well, sorry I didn't mention the pregnancy test! The leaflet they gave me had it (but not about dtd afterwards) on so presumed you knew.

My spotting finally stopped 7 days post HSG, still getting the odd cramp though. The mucus/bleeding I had 4 days afterwards I've decided was linked in with HSG so I don't symptom spot now as 7dpo, AF due in 7 days. I have my next appt at fertility clinic in 10 days to discuss starting treatment the following cycle which will be approximately start of Nov, yay!!!!!

lildottie · 04/10/2014 10:29

non are you having ivf? sorry can't remember. just a heads up my info says I have to go on bcp for cycle before treatment Si that could delay you 4weeks from what you are expecting.

laura we will be happy to don our stethoscopes and translate for you Grin

just want it to be Wednesday now. fed up of all the waiting. has definitely gone faster since getting a date though!

Nonconformist34 · 04/10/2014 11:24

Lil Thanks for the heads up, we've being offered 3 rounds of IUI then 1 round if IVF on the NHS. I'm just pleased to get the ball rolling before Xmas really. I've found that I've not had to wait more than two weeks between my appointments now and also can specify a day for them (Mondays) which is my day off. The fun begins of juggling work when I start treatment. Good luck for Wednesday.

lildottie · 04/10/2014 13:23

ah so excited for you starting before Xmas. I'm hoping well get told I go on pill next cycle and get ivf in November so also hoping for a pre Christmas bfp. with blues clomid and Vic having appt on Wednesday too hopefully we can have a flurry of Xmas bfps...like little snowflakes Smile

victoria401 · 04/10/2014 20:23

Awww lil that's such a sweet way of putting it! Fingers crossed for all the starting treatment ladies!

non we get the same as you on the nhs. Though no one has actually mentioned that we qualify I've been just assuming!

OP posts:
GingerbreadHead · 04/10/2014 21:07

Ah little snowflakes that's lovely! Hope I can join in too, though I don't have any progress with the NHS to help me get there Sad forgot to ring and give them shit yesterday so will have to wait til Monday now to chase up my gynae appointment. I did have my ultrasound/dildo cam scan last week, it was all clear and normal the ultrasound lady said, so back to the drawing board. I'm convinced it's something to do with hormones, I have only ever had one successful day21 blood test done, no day 1 or 3 tests done, so wondering if I should go back to the GP and demand to have them?
non that is amazing! I am so excited for you and to hear about all of your progress! Will be interested to hear how the procedure goes with IUI, if it comes to that it will be all we can not afford to do.
lilglad it feels like things are speeding up for you, what will your app on wednesday be for? Why do you have to go on the pill before hand do you know? Are you going straight for IVF rather than IUI?
vic I'm sure you will qualify, if you tick all the qualifying boxes on the websites you can look at (completely forgotten the right info tonight!) then they can't really refuse you! Glad your HSG went ok in the end, hope you are feeling ok? And here's hoping you have lovely clear tubes now for the little guys to get on their way!!! What did you decide to do in the end re continuing ttc this month?
Laura good luck with your test results, were they the day 21 ones? Sorry your H was being such an arse, is he behaving himself now?
view sorry I can't really advise personally on your results, but glad the other lovely knowledgeable ladies on here could help, it really seems as though we need to do our research so we know what the hell is going on, as some of these nurses and Drs don't seem to know.....
Hello to everyone else, hope you are having a good weekend.
CD15 here and got a very positive opk this morning, but then did another one tonight and it wasn't positive, not sure what is going on there....maybe my wee was too diluted! Feeling weirdly optimistic this month, which means the crash down to earth with AFs arrival could be tough Angry

victoria401 · 04/10/2014 22:23

Hi ginger, were u always gingerbreadhead?! Don't remember the head bit! How long you been ttc now? Sounds like your GP isn't that great. I was told I needed day 21 and day 3 at the same appointment with my GP. And this was the GP that cocked up our referrals and sa's!

Decided we will ttc this month. Cd10 now. Guess we better start dtd soon, sigh. Lol! Terrible chore isn't it!

OP posts:
lildottie · 04/10/2014 23:26

hi ginger we can't do ivf because dh has shit spunk! lol. we are having icsi. bcp is to cut out your natural hormones ready for all the synthetic ones. oh joy! get shagging, hopefully that negative one means that egg is ready and waiting! I'd ask about blood tests when you phone to chase gynae. they may arrange them faster?

wouldn't it be nice to have a mass influx of bfps before crimbo and turn this into a ttc 10m + with success thread! keep on hoping ladies!

Lauraqc · 05/10/2014 09:06

Awww wouldn't it be amazing for loads of BFPs before Xmas..? Sounds like loads of you are about to get cracking with treatment and it's making me impatient!! No af yet and no news - haven't dtd since DH was an arse last week. He's now bought the stupid expensive car so is all smiles again but I haven't even wanted him near me. Will try and muster some enthusiasm today. Have told him I'm booking the private consult so we'll work toward that oh and some healthy eating and exercise in the meantime!!!

victoria401 · 05/10/2014 10:14

Awww Laura sounds like when my H nagged and nagged to get a motorbike to commute to work faster on last year. He won, the repayments are making him skint and said bike is spending most of its life under a cover in the garden and he's still taking the car to work. Men huh?! Tried get get H to dtd last night but he was too tired bless him. It was only cd10 and no where near ov but we need to refresh his little guys! I really don't fancy sex at the moment either, we've argued lots lately and he did my head in on holiday with his negative attitude to everything. I spent all that money on the hol and he moaned about everything and only had a few "alright times". Called him an ungrateful git and that I'm never paying for a holiday for him again. Sometimes I wonder why we are together :-(

OP posts:
lildottie · 05/10/2014 11:00

oh Vic men can be such arses! I'm worried for you guys. he needs to bloody snap out of it. maybe you could surprise him with a hand job to clear out his reserves! minimal effort and less pressure. it might then remind him what he's missing and get him back in the mood ready for fertile week? as for his attitude problem if it was me I'd make myself unavailable and see how he likes that as an alternative!

GingerbreadHead · 05/10/2014 19:00

Sorry, I'm gingerbreadbabyplease, just fancied a bit of a name change but forgot to actually tell anyone!
I can't believe all these men who find it hard to want to DTD. It's so bizarre, it's always made out in magazines etc that men are gagging for it all the time and it's us women that have to force ourselves into it! I do find the more we do it the more I enjoy it Blush but agree it does feel like a chore sometimes to get around to it, and all the planning and day counting does take the fun out of it. Poor DH has got a cold atm but did step up to the mark this morning, coughing all over me, he did warn me it would be purely functional...romantic! I do find myself lying there thinking what is the effing point though, it hasn't worked 16 times so why is it any different this month.
vic we have been trying for 14 months, but this is cycle 17 as they are on the short side. Went to the Dr back in January and told a little white lie that we had been trying for a year then, rather than 9 months. I'm sick of still bloody waiting, but also am losing the motivation and energy to chase it any further. We couldn't afford fertility treatment anyway, and I'm sick of trying to figure out myself what the problem could be, as none of these Drs actually seem to give a shit.
Laura Shock can't believe he actually bought the car anyway after all that!! Men are seriously such arses.
lil what's the difference between icsi and ivf then?

lildottie · 05/10/2014 19:36

with normal ivf they put eggs and soerm together and let them fertilise themselves. with icsi they inject one sperm into each egg to fertilise them.

I agree its a chore nowadays but once we start I'm always happy we've done it Wink. dh never wants to but once I force him get him in the mood he too is happy we did it. I think its hard to make time for it when life is so busy.

Lauraqc · 05/10/2014 19:42

I feel your pain Vic and also do wonder that myself sometimes...I like Lil's idea of a hand job just to clear the pipes, may take that tip to use!!

Totally weird isn't it Ginger what the media would have us believe! I've never had that high a libido but finding that the more i have it the more it's ok - although wish we could get out of the 'same routine' hahaha!

We've had a nice day out today and DH took me and my parents out in the car (don't tell him but it's actually very very nice and i'm enjoying being driven about in a lush grown up car...) just wait until we have to re-mortgage the house to run the bloody thing. Still, i think we'll dtd later just to get back into it!

Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend - desperately layering jumpers and trying not to put the heating on here!

victoria401 · 05/10/2014 19:48

I knew you were the same ginger as you seemed to know us all lol!

I asked H how often he thinks about sex and he said never. That's not right! I can walk into the room starkers and push my boobs into his face and he doesn't bat an eyelid. I practically have to rape him to get a response, seriously.

Icsi is where they inject individual sperm into each egg whereas ivf is where they put eggs and sperm in a dish and leave them to it. Sorry to answer a question aimed at lil :-(

Do you not qualify for nhs treatment ginger?

OP posts:
victoria401 · 05/10/2014 19:51

Ah lil you got in before me anyway lol! Took ages to write my reply as I have strictly results show on at the same time! Mmmm Steve Backshall, rather dtd with him lol!

OP posts:
lildottie · 05/10/2014 19:56

lol Vic

if I asked my dh how often he thought about sex he'd say "not that much". they are bloody useless!

Vic I notice he's still just H...no better today?

Vap0 · 05/10/2014 23:44

Hello!

Can I join in? This looks like a good group for me.

Brief intro
Age 32
Partners age 31
Last depo 10 Aug 13
Depo ran out 2 nov 13
Af first appeared may 14
Regular af for 3 cycles now (fingers crossed)
Finally decided ttc aug 13 after months of discussion
Ttc after depo wore off 11 months ago (or so it should have)
Ovulation tests used for months and never had a positive
Visited doctor who is sending me for a blood test 7 days before af arrives - here is the question, I'm away with work for day 8 and 7 before af and so will be a day late (6days before af) will this still be ok? Will it give the correct results?

Sorry to hear some of you are feeling a little low, just think how it will all disappear once you get a bfp Smile

Not managed to read all posts in this thread as it's so full. Has anyone had a positive yet?

Good luck everyone Smile

lildottie · 06/10/2014 00:43

hi vap. think we've had 2bfps since we started on here.

re your blood test you may find your levels are a bit below borderline but should be in. can't you get in for test before and after your away?

Viewofhedges · 06/10/2014 10:07

Hello all
Sat here a bit glum with very first signs of AF (who else). It's ridiculous how disappointing it is ... Again! It doesn't help that this comes at the same time as another work rejection (I was made redundant a year ago and trying to get back on my feet as self employed as I was before but it's tough going).

Anyhow not much else to report, just a bit fed up. Will be spending the rest of the day waiting for the inevitable!
