This is a thread for ladies who have been ttc longer than 10 months who have started the ball rolling with tests and treatments. We are all here to support each other though these darker days to the baby shaped light at the end of the tunnel!

Oops posted too soon....came off BC in Sept 2014 and took until June 13 to get AF back.

So.....DH SA results. He called the GP yesterday. Didn't get any figures (men!!) but apparently the count was high, the mobility was good, but....there were just 3% 'normal' sperm. The others being abnormal, obviously. I will be calling the docs Monday to get a better idea of what this means. They told DH that his results will be put on my notes and they will refer to a fertility clinic.

victoria401 · 27/09/2014 21:25

Notta, that will be the morphology hun. Layman's terms 'normal forms'. My dh's was only 2% in the first sa and 5% in the 2nd. Apparently they class over 4% as within normal range but the fertility nurse told us they really like it to be around 10%. But hey it only takes one normal one to get through right?!

Hi Ladies

Wonder if you guys can offer me any advice... Am 32 and ttc #1. Been trying for 10 months and initially cycling normally after coming off microgynon (12 years on!). However, since the start of June I've had no periods at all... Bloods at docs normal, home fertility tests say I'm having LH surges...

Any recommendations on things I can do? Anyone had similar experiences? Trying not to worry but is a bit tough :)

Thanks in advance!! Smile

Sparrowlegs248 · 27/09/2014 23:01

Thanks Vic that's exactly what i was thinking......it only takes one, preferably normal!

Lauraqc · 28/09/2014 20:19

Hi Reedlet welcome - I had no cycles at all, but that was as soon as I came off Gedarel...Ive been through tests for PCOS but all clear. Only thing that I've changed is going on a diet and my cycles have sort of kick started again now. I take it you've done a pg test?! Pretty weird but people kept telling me that it takes the body a while to get back into a pattern. Docs wanted to give 'notheristone' to bring on a bleed for me to get blood tests - maybe that could work for you? I've also heard various on soya something, raspberry leaf tea and evening primrose oil to regulate cycles...?

Well it's me and DH's second wedding anniversary today and we've had a lovely day at Harrods eating, drinking and shopping! Feels a little bit like there's a little person missing - I know we both want it so much. We had a great time together though and we're very lucky in other ways. I can't be too down about it.

If I was on the similar cycle to that I started in July I'd be 9 days late now apparently according to the app - tested BFN this morning and no sign of either ov or af yet this month. We WILL be dtd later! Little sad to think there won't be a BFP this month but hey ho.

Lauraqc · 28/09/2014 21:47

Hi Tutsy welcome - sounds like you're at about the same sort of place as a lot of us on this thread...

victoria401 · 28/09/2014 21:52

Aww tutsy you came :-) hope you get some advice and comfort here :-)

Welcome also to reed. Sorry I have no advice as my periods started straight away when I came off the pill.

lildottie · 29/09/2014 07:58

morning all. reed its soya isoflavones Laura was referring to. I had a couple of normal months after stopping bcp then my cycles went scewy. 2years on and they are more settled but still not regular. must be frustrating not having AF and not knowing where in cycle you are.

Laura happy anniversary. sounds like you had a lovely time. I know what you mean about feeling like a little person is missing though. its not that we aren't grateful for what we have, its just hard not to think about what we don't when its always in our faces.

Vic only 1wk 2 days! are you counting down too?

Nonconformist34 · 29/09/2014 08:41

Welcome to the newbies Reed and Tutsy! Hope you get some support and help here, I sure have. It may get worth trying more high protein in your diet Reed, have low carb and avoid as much processed food to stabilise your blood sugars which can influence hormonal control?I don't believe in starving your body ttc as it needs nutrients and high antioxidant foods to reproduce. I'm also a firm believer in acupuncture in regulating my cycles.

Just a quick question for those who've had a HSG. As you know I had mine last Thursday and I'm still having very mild niggly cramps on and off and still have light brown blood when I wipe. Did you all have this 4 days afterwards??

lildottie · 29/09/2014 09:32

I didn't non but I don't think its unusual from the reading around I did. if you're worried phone the hospital and ask. did they give you antibiotics?

victoria401 · 29/09/2014 10:33

Hi lil I'm not really counting down the days yet as I have HSG this Thursday to contend with first! Dh annoyed about it all as he has to ask his boss for time off. Bit worried as he only has 3 leave days left til April and his boss is making him take our appoints as leave. No way will he have enough time and he can't do overtime as his work is open 7.30-4 and that's it, locked up.

OP posts:
Nonconformist34 · 29/09/2014 11:52

Thanks Lil I'll give it a few more days. I haven't got antibiotics. If it hasn't gone by then or gets worse I'll give them a call.

Vic Good luck for Thurs. Remember to pop a few pills beforehand and you'll be fine. Your DH's boss sounds unreasonable. Might be worth not asking in future beforehand for your next apps so he can ring in sick. I would never be like that to my staff.

victoria401 · 29/09/2014 12:22

His boss initially said it was fine for him to attend the appointments, as dh told him what they were for, then he seemed to change his mind. He thinks someone else at work must have said something to change his mind.

Hope you're ok non. I've got antibiotics for mine, just one dose though for the day bit miffed to pay £8.40 for 2 measly pills tho I spotted after my first dildo cam but didn't after my 2nd, weird.

Viewofhedges · 29/09/2014 16:48

Hello all! Well I've just got back from the GP's and the day 21 test. So now I'm on the count-down to Friday (test results, supposedly) and Monday (AF due. Ish). I think it's going to be a long week.

Hello Notta, sounds like we are at very very similar stages and ages! My DH is off for his SA in November. I'm dreading it. He had a double orchidopexy when he was a kid which was in the early 70s so god knows what they did down there! He is also a keen cyclist....!

Harvest festival yesterday, I'm not a churchgoer but I went (clutching courgettes and apples like I did when I was a kid only to find that the giving part of the service doesn't happen any more due to health and safety WTF???) and I WEPT during We Plough The Fields and Scatter, honestly. Talk about over emotional. I don't think having the church's only pram + toddler parked next to me for the whole service helped...

Lauraqc · 29/09/2014 22:30

Raging here tonight. H (NOT DH tonight) has just come and started a row about a car he wants. I'll put this into context - we've been in our house one year now, doubling the mortgage. In that time, he's had 4 jobs (some bad luck, others just dislike) and 3 cars (all bad decisions as far as I'm concerned). I have run the household the entire year, paying the bills as I'm the main earner. He now wants to get a faster, more expensive car. He's just come and rowed with me as I've said it's not a good idea. Stopped talking to him. His parting shot as he left the room? "Well if you're not going to be reasonable as of now we're not trying for a baby". ARRRRGGGGHHHHHH. On nights like this it makes me wonder how we got to our anniversary.

Rant over, hope everyone's well!

lildottie · 29/09/2014 23:26

oh Laura sounds like he's being a pig tonight. tell him to act his age or you'll find a grown up to make a baby with! I can't stand a man throwing his toys out if his pram!! hope he's 'd'h again by morning for you Thanks

Lauraqc · 29/09/2014 23:36

Thanks Lil you're right. Argh so annoying!!!

BobsyBoo · 29/09/2014 23:48

Can I join please.

I'm 38 & TTC #2 for 21 cycles now. I've had a scan & blood tests & everything ok. My doctor said basically it is my age not producing good eggs, the quality is not good. I'm still feeling quite down about what she said & feeling that it won't happen. She's also said there's no more tests to do so basically I have to keep trying & hoping, no medical intervention available to me at all!

lildottie · 30/09/2014 07:53

Bobsy welcome. how long have you been trying? have you considered doing ivf privately? I would take GPs words with a pinch of salt. GPs generally are clueless about infertility! have you had FSH/amh blood test to check reserve levels?

oh a witch doctor, how silly of me not to consider that as an option before! idiot! metal I reported it too.

Laura any improvement in the d of h this morning?

BobsyBoo · 30/09/2014 09:30

lildottie we've been trying for 21 months. No we couldn't afford IVF so not an option. I'm not sure they do some blood tests but not sure what they were, I suppose I should have asked really.

Lindsay81 · 30/09/2014 13:56

Hello all :)

Every time I check in here I hope to see a BFP... it's been a while hasn't it?:-( But i do believe that only means that statistically we must be due at least one!

Had my ultrasound today and apparently my ovaries and womb all look healthy. The last thing to do is get this bloody HSG booked which is proving to be a nightmare! First appointment they cancelled because "the room wasn't open anymore", second month I was on holiday and this month there are no appointments available!

I sent the specialist a chart of my cycles with a letter telling her that trying to get this HSG was so difficult and could we schedule an appointment to look at the options in parallel with the HSG completing. Basically everything is pointing to these short and irregular luteal phases being an issue, and so likely some sort of hormonal imbalance... I'd like to try ovulation induction (clomid i guess) to bring forward the ovulation date and maybe restore some balance. Hoping to hear from her this week.

Welcome Bobsy I am sure you will find some useful information and support on this thread. First up, I would check what your blood tests were (i.e. Day 21 of your cycle to check you ovulated? Or Day 3 to check FSH levels). Do you chart your cycle with Ovulation sticks? This could help you concentrate your efforts as you may be missing your ovulation day, especially if it isn't the "normal" day 14.

xBlueberry88x · 30/09/2014 14:23
