TTC First Time - Anyone else?

My husband and I are TTC! I have been off the pill for a month now and have started taking folic acid and calcium with vit D to ensure if anything does happen I'm as healthy as possible. Limiting caffeine and alcohol but not cutting it out completely as you never know how long it will take! All my friends have just fallen pregnant really easily, but I have a feeling this will not be the case for me. I can't remember when my last period was either which is annoying as will need to wait for the next one before I can chart etc. Hmm Is anyone else out there TTC now? We could all share our stories and encourage each other! Smile

Oh Gem, I'm so sorry to hear the results were not in your favour.

Fingers crossed when your OH gets tested in a few months time you'll get the results you hope for. It is possible for illness to have an impact on the body and affect test results (I've worked in health for a long time and the body does crazy things!). I'm sure the Dr isn't giving you false hope but giving you one possible reason for the outcome.

Keep positive Gem (easier said than done I know).Don't give up yet! I'm sending you all my positive thoughts.

Apologies Gem, I misread it as the dr giving a reason, my fault. However, I still stand by what i said, it is definitely a possible reason for the low count (though I recognise I'm no Dr), so there is a glimmer of hope! The body will do crazy things when we're poorly. The wellman vits or any conception support vits will hopefully help. Fingers crossed for you!!

Thank you, still suffering morning sickness and feeling so tired. Just praying each day that the little bean sticks!

I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow...still early days. I'm trying to relax and just enjoy this time but there's always that worry in the back of your mind.

It doesn't help that I'm signed off sick to rest as I'm not occupied enough to keep my mind off it. However, I'm off to France for week tomorrow so that should take my mind off the worries for a while :-)

Katybear123 · 23/07/2014 18:59

Hi Gemerama wow I so sorry I really have you in my thoughts and am sending u a bug virtual hug

Katybear123 · 23/07/2014 19:00

Durham rd, I have all crossed for u to but I have a good feeling for u. I think u will be just fine :-)

DurhamRed · 23/07/2014 19:23

Thanks Katy

To answer your question earlier, I caught on my 3rd cycle of TTC. I wasn't on the pill (came off it years ago) but still shocked we caught so quickly. We thought it would take much longer as we are both 40.

You're not silly for feeling desperate to get pregnant, there are many many women who feel the same. Me included, I cried when I got a bfn after our first go.

It will happen for you, even if it doesn't happen this month, (not saying it won't!) just pick yourself up and keep trying and keep thinking positive! :-)

Katybear123 · 23/07/2014 21:55

Thanks Durham that is top top advice. It's the waitin that's so horrid. But as u say just have to pick myself up and keep going. I think I read you use clear blue fertility test is that right and did u use the new advanced monitor? We are thinking it don't catch this cycle that we we will have 1 more go then moved to fertility monitor

DurhamRed · 23/07/2014 22:47

I used the one step ovulation tests that you can get on Amazon... They did the trick for me. You can get something like 25 tests for around a fiver. Just poas same time every day during your fertile week and the day the LH surge is highlighted you have a 36 hour window before you ovulate. Once the LH has surge has shown you don't have to use any more tests, so you can save the others for the following month if need be.

I used preseed gel too, which you can also get on Amazon.

I can only tell you what i used to help me, and can only advise to go with what you feel comfortable and happy doing. Different things work for different people :-)

kittenmamma · 23/07/2014 23:09

Hi ladies,
Gemerama, so sorry to hear about your DH's test results! Glad you are feeling more positive today though. I have read about the three month thing and makes complete sense so there is hope. It is the same with our eggs! It is good to know that there is the option of fertility treatment if you do need it Smile

Thanks for the advice Durham that is really helpful. Hopefully we won't need it but you never know.
Pleased ur feeling brighter Gemerama

Ladyboluna · 24/07/2014 20:41

Gem - sorry that the results have made you feel so down. Remember its not the be all and end all and also remember they get it wrong sometimes!

Also saying hi to everyone, I'm TTC for my first and I'm 23. Always wanted kids, perhaps I'm younger than most but I own my own house, have a good job paying above minimum wage and been with my partner for 4.5 years. We've been trying for almost 12 months but nothing yet. Fx for everyone.

Katybear123 · 24/07/2014 21:13

Hey lady welcome to the thread. I have all crossed for u to. I am praying for a bfp on 30 th July. That of course assumes a 28 day cycle and I have no idea that I have that as this is month 2 off the pill and last cycle 51 days. Still I think it could be as I reckon I ovulated day 13 but we will see I guess :-)

Ladyboluna · 24/07/2014 21:57

Thanks Katy. Just remember at this stage if you don't get a BFP that at least you're getting a feel for your cycle and that'll be a good thing in the long run. Were all here together for that run though so let's get our jogging shoes on! Lol

I keep track of when my last period was and when its next due by using an app that works out my average cycle length. I don't record temps, use opks or record when I dtd at the moment but it looks more tempting each month.

MrsG12345 · 25/07/2014 12:34

Gem- sorry to hear about your hubby's results, but I wouldn't give up hope. My hubby had measles and twisted testicles when he was a teen and so we were convinced we wouldn't be able to have a family. He got tested and everything was fine which I think is a bit of a miracle. I cried tears of joy when we got the results as I was convinced that we would never be able to have our own children. Also a friend of mine had her hubby tested and the results were similar to yours. They were both devastated. He got retested a few months after (as he'd had been ill 3 months before the first test) and the results were that everything was perfectly normal!

We are ttc our first and I thought that I'd come off the pill and it would happen straight away - how wrong was I! We're on cycle 8 now I think. My cycle seemed to be regular straight away after coming off the pill which I took as a good sign. We said that we would just "see what happens" and not really "try" as such. I do however now take my temperature every morning before I get out of bed and I chart it on an app etc. I've just started using ovulation tests this month to try and see if I actually ovulate and today I've had my first 2 lines which is a relief! All this baby making business is not as easy as I thought it would be! Ha! Good luck to all!!! Xx

DurhamRed · 27/07/2014 12:06

Hi all

I managed to make it all the way to France, however I do not recommend travelling when suffering morning sickness. The ferry crossing g was smooth but my god was I sick!! ( I am never travel sick...ever!).

I am so not looking forward to the journey back :-(

Hope everyone is OK and not suffering the heat too much!

Katybear123 · 27/07/2014 12:40

Hi Durham well done on getting to France. Make sure u enjoy ur break and try to relax. Loving the heat this end, and hoping for a bfp sometime in the next week. X

happygojo · 27/07/2014 20:08

Hi all! I am first time ttc. I had my iud out about 6 weeks ago and then used rhythm method for a month and now actually trying. I too am freaking out. Got some ovulation tests but no surge yet but not sure if I have been doing the tests right (I hate feeling dehydrated, doing the tests at the wrong time of day etc. According to my app I should be ovulating today. Have been checking my CM but not had EWCM yet... At least I don't think so. DTD every other day ish but I hate it feeling forced. I honestly thought I would be really chilled out about it. .. but I am just not. I am 28 and my OH is 27. It is nice to know I am not just mental!
