TTC First Time - Anyone else?

My husband and I are TTC! I have been off the pill for a month now and have started taking folic acid and calcium with vit D to ensure if anything does happen I'm as healthy as possible. Limiting caffeine and alcohol but not cutting it out completely as you never know how long it will take! All my friends have just fallen pregnant really easily, but I have a feeling this will not be the case for me. I can't remember when my last period was either which is annoying as will need to wait for the next one before I can chart etc. Hmm Is anyone else out there TTC now? We could all share our stories and encourage each other! Smile

The world works in mysterious ways. I know one woman who only seemed to look at her now ex-husband and BANG, she was pregnant.

I think I'm going to struggle because of how overweight I am.

Still no sign of AF, no more pregnancy symptoms either. But out tonight so didn't want to POAS, because it is one of my best friend's birthdays and she's having man trouble, so will want some champers tonight! (naughty!). I will do tomorrow!

I've still got my fingers x'd for all of you ladies too!

kittenmamma · 31/05/2014 13:56

I was a total space cadette at work last night, falling into people and my head just not working with my mouth and now full of the cold and feeling a bit nauseous, and been having cramps for a couple of days. Thinking it's all probably ovulation related but we DTD a couple of days ago so hopefully that will be enough. Haha Gem that was my idea too, DH's birthday is on July 4th and I thought of giving him an unused one in it's box and doing it on the day (obviously would have done a few beforehand to make sure!)

How many days late are you Lancashire?? You could not be feeling symptoms yet, it is still early days! FX for your test tomorrow!

LancashireTea · 31/05/2014 14:32

That's funny kitten and you both have cute present ideas!

I'm 4 or 5 days late now! Some 10muls have arrived in this morning's post. Sooooo tempted to do one!

kittenmamma · 31/05/2014 19:53

Bit better today :P not falling all over the place. Did have a bit of a fight with DH about the fact that I'm tracking my cycle. He says he doesn't want to do it that way, but my response was the only other way is to DTD every 2 or 3 days all through the month and he's not prepared to commit to that, so it has to be one or the other. Feeling rather down.

Wait until tomorrow to do it Lancashire! Don't ruin your night out :) maybe don't over do the champers though!

Hi,

Just seen this chat. My hubby and i got married a year ago and desperately want to start a family, however we have faced a lot of negativity from family who this we should wait a while. Both our families were older parents and think we should slow things down as we are 'young' (we are both 25 nearly 26). We feel we have been together 6 years and that we are a good age to be come parents.

This is out first month TTC i'm excited and very nervous as i don't have any girls around me who have had children yet. I came on here trying to find info about what I/we should be doing to help! I came off the pill about a year and a half ago and am trying to eat healthily and cut out alcohol.

Good luck ladies!!!

Hannah

Gem, I think the only reasons to lose weight are health related or if you don't feel good in yourself. I'm heavier than I've been in years right now but I feel comfortable with myself so I'm not doing anything about it. This is only our first cycle which is why it's causing so much friction, he should be really enthusiastic right now!

Sugar, welcome you'll love it here. I'm about to turn 22 and got married a month ago, became a step mum to an 8year old (DH is about to turn 27) so age has nothing to do with it, they'll come around. My family started off a little unsure but it's all I've wanted since I was a kid so they understand and they'll be happy when the time comes.

sugarangel88 · 01/06/2014 16:44

Hi Kitten,

Thanks so much i really hope so, i have wanted to be a mum since i was a kid to. When people asked what i wanted to be when i grew up I said a mum!
But now its happening my mum is very unsure and negative, she's refusing to even talk about it (its scary doing this alone as I'm the type of person who asks a lot of questions!).

But looks like i fund the right place to come! :) xxx

kittenmamma · 01/06/2014 21:19

Sugar, it's difficult when you are positive about something and other people are negative about it, but I honestly believe that no matter what everyone says, when it actually happens it will be a whole different story. My friend got pregnant when she was 19 and her mum kicked her out. She now owns a house with the guy, has a beautiful three year old who is amazingly behaved, an just had another baby. Her mum is a huge part of all of their lives. Don't worry too much, if you and DH think it's right then that's all that matters. I'm the same, I ask every question imaginable and Google everything :P

sugarangel88 · 01/06/2014 21:34

Thanks so much thats so reassuring to hear!! DH has wanted kids since we got married so we think its right, guess now its just fingers crossed and a lot of googling!! :)

Katybear123 · 02/06/2014 18:29

Hey sugar nice to see a newbie.
I have a question maybe tmi but today day 20 of my cycle I woke up to ewcm, this is the first time I have had this since came off pill last month. Does this mean I'm ovulating? Only had it once and a bit watery now what do you think?

kittenmamma · 02/06/2014 19:44

Katy could mean that yeah. I had it pretty much bang on day 14 when it should have happened and some cramps with it, so I assume that's what was happening. You may just have a slightly different time to ovulate. Other than that my only suggestion would be that it's your body still trying to adjust.

Katybear123 · 02/06/2014 19:58

Yep I think you might be right. I have googled it all day and the responses seem to vary from sign of ovulation, to sign of period, to sign of being pregnant, to sign of not a lot, grrr there seem no certainties....boooo

IneedaBFP · 02/06/2014 20:42

Hello ladies well this is mine and hubby first time TTC we have been trying for 18 months now. I've read everything there is to know and have now shelled out well over £100 on a clear blue fertilely monitor! Yes stress will affect you getting pregnant but I won't tell you not to get stress cuz it's impossible when AF turns up every month Sad

kittenmamma · 03/06/2014 01:29

Well if I were you Katy I'd think positive and get DTD! I've been informed by my best friend that she thinks im going to get a BFP, due to sickness and hormones. Also have this weird stitch like feeling in my right side/hip, which I looked on other forums about which seems to be common in very early pregnancy due to hormones preping the area for stretching! I'm terrified to get my hopes up but just can't help it, even though I know I'll be crushed if/when it's a BFN.
Hi IneedaBFP! That must be really frustrating for you, I hope clearblue helps! I agree, we can all pretend like we wont stress but we would be lying!
Think positive ladies!

efilbean · 03/06/2014 23:58

My partner and I have decided today that we're going to TTC!
We've been dithering for ages but it's all I want to do now - after years of not wanting kids.

I currently have an implant and am returning to work next week after 6 weeks off sick. I will wait a few weeks for me to settle in and gather our thoughts a little, then I'm of to the docs to get the implant removed. So excited! It feels like so much has fallen into place since making this decision.

LadyNovember · 04/06/2014 10:25

Hi guys, my first post on MN - eek! Been reading for a few weeks now though :)

DP & I are trying for the first time :) we're in cycle 1...I just came off the pill 2 weeks ago after some 11 years? Hoping that's not going to be against me as I'm not the most patient of people!

I'm 25, DP is 32 and we're both pretty healthy (if slightly on the porky side haha!) we're taking Boots His & Hers PreConception vits. I don't drink alcohol and rarely coffee, but DP is cutting down on those and both trying to eat healthily. We're trying to DTD every other day (especially around ovulating).

Anything else I should be doing?!

Good luck everyone..fingers xd for some BFPs this month! Xx

Katybear123 · 04/06/2014 19:01

Hi efilbean and lady November, welcome to the thread. It's great when you decide so exciting but equally terrifying, this is month 1 for me and hubbie ttc and af due if i have a 28 day cycle but this is month 1 off the pill for 16 years so have no idea so completey understand lady nov your worries. We are trying to dtd every other day but in truth it's more every 3-4 days. Hope this isn't a prob. Im currently symptom spotting though trying not to, but have been thinking when I should test, I guess anytime from mon onwards but no idea, any thoughts?

Katybear123 · 04/06/2014 19:02

Ps November lady we aren't doing anything more than you are, I'm on folic acid and vit d and we are both fit and healthy so we'll see. I to am the most impatient person alive!

kittenmamma · 04/06/2014 19:26

I'm the same, I've got 10 days till AF is due and it's killing me!
Katy I'll be waiting till AF is three days late so that I'm positive it's not coming, that way it's less likely to be a BFN! I hope yours isn't!

kittenmamma · 04/06/2014 19:27

Ps I'm sitting with a week old baby in my arms right now, need my uterus to do me a favour and make me one of these!

Katybear123 · 04/06/2014 19:31

Haha love in kitten, I to think i will wait till after af due though as I said no idea if this is actually when it's due...

kittenmamma · 04/06/2014 23:38

Same Katy, did you say you had come off the pill half way through a packet same as me? I've decided to throw my research into my future plan of starting a business with my DH and best friend to take my mind off of conceiving!

LadyNovember · 05/06/2014 11:34

Hi katybear...I'll probably wait until AF is late like kitten, but you never know..we might all turn into 'can you see a line?'ers!

I've seen a few people talk about cheap tests off the net, thinking I might order some as I have a few events/weekends away in the coming weeks and months and there's likely to be alcohol involved! I'm not a huge drinker but would be nice to have a couple and I'd want to POAS just to be sure beforehand! However, if I order some, I can see an obsession forming haha!

I have absolutely no idea how long my cycle is..I've been on the pill since I was about 13 (for heavy AFs!) so I'm completely clueless :(

Good luck for the 14th kitten!! Fingers xd for you xx
