All my other cycles were 26, 27 or 28 days. Since I have been on clomid it has been day 27 on the dot. This is my fifth round of clomid and I'm getting fed up with the disappointment month after month.

Am now on day 31 (so now 4 days later than normal when using clomid). I done a test on day 29 than again yesterday on day 30 both with negative results.

Phoned the hospital today as I am getting really bad cramps (other than wanting to be pregnant am quite concerned about my cycle .... don't know if my body has had enough clomid).

Hospitals advice was to test today and if still negative to test again on day 36 (Monday). I honestly thought they would just tell me to come in for a blood test but no.

The nurses assistant said they do not normally ask people to go in until about day 42 as it is 6 weeks before they can see anything (I'm assuming they don't test but do a scan instead). I know it is silly but you feel sometimes that you can't ask the obvious questions like why can they not just test me.

Still have my fingers crossed for the time being but trying not to get too excited.

I've one go at clomid left and I have no idea what happens next.

Jules why did you give up on clomid? Are you going private for IVF? What are the timescales and how successful is it?

Good luck.

I have to go to the GP tomorrow to get some Clomid as bizarrely the consultant said although he recommended it he couldn't prescribe it, only the GP. The hospital has no intention of monitoring my cycle. How worried should I be about this?

Also, I am a bit confused about reading about injections on this thread as I thought clomid came in pill form. Can anyone enlighten me?

Artoo · 11/01/2007 05:49

Meysey - clomid does come in pill form. I've been talking about injections becuase after 7 failed clomid cycles I'm now doing IVF.

What dosage of clomid are you having? The hospital really should be monitoring you as there is a risk with clomid of over-stimulating the ovaries, or if you receive too low a dose it might not work. How will they know if you are responding to it if they don't monitor?

HopefulDreams - how are you getting on?

Hugs,
Artoo.

meysey · 11/01/2007 12:24

Thanks Artoo for the info. The answer to the monitoring is that the hospital don't really care or want to spend the money on monitoring, and the consultant minimised the possible risks when I asked. I think they are giving me a low dose just to be seen to be doing something. But because of my age (early 40s) and the fact I already have a kid, I don't think they want to bother that much as they say I have a low chance of success.

HopefulDreams · 11/01/2007 20:39

Meysey, I know it's hard but you probably need to insist that you want to be monitored. Surely if you request it they cannot be refused if there are associated risks. p.s. don't let the word risk freak you out, loads of us having been taking it and the worst side effect is high temperature at certain times of the month.

Artoo, thanks for asking how I am.... now on day 32 and still nothing... done yet another test last night and still negative... no idea what's going on in my body!!! Do you think clomid could interfere with my cycle? But this is the 5th month!

MamaMaiasaura · 12/01/2007 10:16

HI there Just quick update. Saw Fertility Dr Dec 12. She took bloods and I had to ferry dp specimen to hosp on the monday. Next appt is April.SHe went thro clomid altho she called it something else. Still no period since Feb last year. Hope you all are doing ok xxxx

HopefulDreams · 14/01/2007 19:46

Just wanted to let you all know I got to day 33 and then back to day 1 of next cycle.. was disappointed but what is meant to be will be I guess! Obviously this month was not it. Well started my 6th and last cycle of clomid today so will keep you all posted.

xxx

jules123 · 14/01/2007 20:18

Hi, Hopeful Dreams I am really sorry to hear that, it is always so disappointing. What will you do after the 6th cycle?

Natty - how did it go last month? are you on cycle 5 yet?

I am in a bit of a panic now because was going to start IVF next week with buserelin nasal spray but did an ovulation test which showed I ovulated today (day 16) so not sure whether to take the drugs anyway. A nurse at the clinic said not to worry but all the stuff on the internet says it can cause birth defects... I didn't take clomid this month so was rather surprised to ovulate. Maybe I should wait a month before starting IVF?

Natty1806 · 15/01/2007 09:57

Hiya

Yeah am now on cylce 5 of clomid. Am going to ring hospital this afternoon for my follow up appointment.

Hello, I'm supposed to be starting Clomid this week. Feeling low and assuming that period due any moment. I'm 41 and have not yet had a dye test. Any advice or comments? I'd be very grateful to hear about it. Sorry I haven't read all the other messages so I may be repeating something. byee xx

Natty1806 · 16/01/2007 13:47

Welcome Molly

Sorry to hear you are feeling low.

Only advice i can give is to take clomid in the evening because if you are like me and end up getting hot flushes it helps that they happen while you are sleeping.

Anything else you want to know jsut ask.

Molly65 · 16/01/2007 15:17

Thanks Natty. I'll take your advice. Apprently, at the clinic where I go, they will be putting me on a tablet for only five days. Is this usual? I suppose that there might be different strengths as well.

Speak soon

Natty1806 · 16/01/2007 16:51

Yes that is right 5 days. i take it CD2 - CD6 but know this can vary slightly. I am on 50mg but some people are put on 150mg think it depends on a few factors.

Good luck

coggy · 16/01/2007 21:33

Artoo....how did today go?

blobsmummy · 17/01/2007 08:39

Hello all, hope you don't mind me gate-crashing your thread. I just wanted to encourage you all as you do battle with clomid. I've got PCO and had tried for kids for a couple of years when I got put on clomid. It took 6 cycles, and I was told I couldn't have any more clomid for health reasons, so we were beginning to think it would never happen and our chances were over - that's when I became pregnant!

DD is now 7.5 months and absolutely gorgeous.

Thinking of you all and hoping this is a lucky year for you - don't give up!

Natty1806 · 17/01/2007 13:00

Thanks for that, as i am on my 5th cycle was starting feel like if it was going to happen it would have already on clomid.

Thanks again for the postive vibes.

izzygetsbusy · 17/01/2007 20:47

Hello
Sorry I'm not a regular on here - I'm trying to curb my ttc obsession by not having a mn obsession - easier said than done!

I had a follicle scan today (2nd cycle of Clomid 50mg) and was told I have 1 mature follicle and 1 nearly there (18mm and 15mm) - cd9

Sounds promising BUT my womb ling is 5mm at best and the doc said she felt this may cause a problem with implantation.

Do any of you know what I can take / do to improve the womb lining thickness??

I will set up a new thread as non-clomid takers may also have experience / heard of this ... but all advice appreciated.

THANKS

wayzee · 18/01/2007 16:17

congratulations ive been taking clomid too but had no developing follicles and uterus lining was 4.8mm however doctor give me cyclogest pessaries which will induce another bleed or if i have ovulated later than the day 10 -15 scan will help pg because they thicken lining of womb for implantation so im just keeping my fingers crossed. he also told me if after week of stopping cyclogest no af to do pg test and if bfp then will go back on pessaries as i have pcos but would think even if you dont have pcos they would still make your uterus lining thicker he told me has to be over at least 6mm for implantation. hope this makes sense and helps you. good luck.

izzygetsbusy · 19/01/2007 09:49

Hi Wayzee - I have responding on the other thread - just to say hang on in there - my problem is to do with a short luteal phase rather than lack of ov ... seems we all have different hurdles to overcome! Frustrating isn't it!

I have another scan today. Fingers crossed.

jules123 · 19/01/2007 22:24

Hi, I was told by the Zita West clinic that the vitamin beta carotene can help thicken the uterus lining.

Artoo - how did the fertilisation go?

We have had rather a disastrous week because the clinic we were going to start IVF with this week was the one in the news with the doctor who they say was acting illegally - so now my husband doesn't want to go there. I still think he is the best though. He is not sure he wants to do IVF at all now. I was taking metformin this month though and did ovulate so he wants me to carry on with that. There are so many decisions to make and it is really hard if you don't agree with your partner.

look forward to hearing everyone elses news... x
