My temps seem okay slightly higher the first 10 days then drop for about a week before rising above coverline after ovulation. Cycles vary between 29 and 32 days.

Artoo · 18/12/2006 16:26

I wasn't temping whilst on clomid (I find temping just too stressful). According to my fertility monitor clomid made me "O" earlier in my cycle, and stretched my luteal phase as well, so the net effect was that my cycles got slightly longer. Remember that 50mg is a very low clomid dose, so it's unlikely you'll get any severe side effects. I only really noticed side-effects one month (month 3 or 4), when I was really really weepy up until "O", and then reverted to normal.

Natty - haven't yet decided if it'll be me or DH doing the injecting. I think I'll probably want to be in control, but he will be there to support me, and is prepared to do the injecting if I need it. I'm sure the first one will be the worst.

Hugs,
Artoo.

Natty1806 · 18/12/2006 16:55

Yeah sure that once you have done the first one you will be fine. Good luck x

jules123 · 19/12/2006 08:40

Hi, back from Paris now which was good except an argument on the first night about when we'll start IVF if the clomid doesn't work. I want to start in Jan but my husband says we should wait until Feb.

I didn't do the temp charts either, I did try them before I started clomid but didn't find them very reliable. I did find that the clomid made my cycles more regular and shorter, they used to be between 32-40 days before clomid, now they are around 27/28 days with ovulation around day 15. The side effects from clomid aren't that bad, I've now started metformin also which is sometimes used for PCO and with that you feel sick all the time.

snowydays · 19/12/2006 10:13

Hello! Thank you for your responses ... I'm feeling much brighter today, I was getting terrible night sweats but I think this may have been more to do with my cold than clomid.
My temperatures are starting to look more normal now.

I asked about cycle length as my consultant is trying me on Clomid to see if it can lengthen my cycle. (22-24 days and a luteal phase of 7-9 days).

Artoo - all the best with the start of treatment - hope it is easier than you expect.

Natty - totally agree - let's make 2007 The Year of the Baby

Jules - hmmm - that when to start IVF discussion - we're having that one too. If it is a choice between Jan or Feb it may not be too hard to resolve - by the time Christmas / New Year is over Jan is more likely to be late Jan/early Feb... so both of you are right! All the best with the decision.

bournemouthbaublebabe · 20/12/2006 18:58

Hello to everyone! This is Jodee in my Christmas persona.

Well, af started today, but no surprise there as my BBT took a huge dip yesterday. I have now had 9 from 12 cycles of Clomid, and am wondering whether to skip this month, as I have a lap & dye at the end of Jan and I feel like I am 'wasting' the Clomid now, iyswim.

In 1999 I had a L&D after 2 years of trying for ds, and although nothing was found, I conceived ds 2 cycles later. I really really mustn't expect the same good luck to happen again - I am now nearly 40 and was ovulating regularly back then.

anyway, lots of seasonal baby dust to one and all, hoping for lots of BFPs in the New Year.

Natty1806 · 20/12/2006 19:18

Thanks for the babydust Jodee.

Hope the lap and dye works the same magic again, i have one of these booked in for March but with ovarian drilling as well.

I would keep taking the clomid, but it is your choice.

ccpink · 21/12/2006 07:22

Hi
Really disappointed as af arrived yesterday. I had a feeling it would though as the first af, last month, was viryually non-existent. So hopefully I'll be on track this month. Got the mother of all af and horrific pains. Is this normal with Clomid?

jules123 · 21/12/2006 20:00

ccpink and jodee- sorry to hear that AF arrived, it is always horrible with the disappointment. I have had pains at the beginning of the cycle when taking clomid but I think it is a good sign, shows it is working.

Natty - how are you getting on so far? it must be day 14 soon?

Artoo - how are the injections going? you will have to tell us what the whole thing is like.

For me tomorrow is day 20 so I'm having the day 21 progesterone test but I won't find out for a while with everything being closed over xmas.

Good luck to everyone, I do hope there is success soon!

Natty1806 · 21/12/2006 20:07

Sorry about AF, sometime months my pains are bad. other not so.

Yeah CD14 tomorrow for me, have got a bit of EWCM and ov pains but OH has been working very long days and have had no action since Sunday so think it might be a wasted month for me.

Jules - good luck tomorrow, hope clomid is working for you. x

bournemouthbaublebabe · 22/12/2006 12:44

Hi Natty - do you really think I should stick with the clomid this month with only 3 cycles left? What will my options be if L&D and clomid don't work? I just don't know what to do ... and ikwym about OH being away at crucial times, DH is always booking work trips when he needs to do his duty!

Hi Jules, and thanks, hope things are working for you tomorrow.

ccpink, hope the pains aren't too bad, I always get migraines and black moods for a couple of days, unfortunately.

Natty1806 · 22/12/2006 13:04

Not sure what the next stage is, i have to ring up mid Jan for my second consultant appointment which will coinside with my LOD so will know next stage in March. When are you next in? When is your lap & dye? Jan?

bournemouthbaublebabe · 22/12/2006 13:31

You've just reminded me, I haven't been given a follow up consultation for either after my L&D or the end of my clomid, wasn't asked to ring or anything. Will do that on 2nd Jan, can't imagine I will get hold of anyone now. My L&D is for 30th Jan, so one last chance this month to conceive, but I just wonder if my problems are more than just not ovulating and therefore the clomid is working but there is another underlying problem that might show up after the L&D.

jules123 · 24/12/2006 10:17

Hi, bournemouth - you could ask your doctor if you are allowed the clomid again after a break?

Natty - I hope you manage to see your husband soon! I know ir isn't ideal but I said to my husband when he wasn't sure if he was going to be around well would you rather spend 7000 pounds on IVF? That made him pretty keen! I think the reason why he doesn't want to start it soon is because of the money but I'm getting a bit impatient, it is such a dissapointment if it doesn't work as you feel like a failure. We went to a Christmas party last night and some people said things like "Shouldn't you be getting on with it in the children department", I just felt like saying well actually I've been taking fertility drugs for 4 months now and if that doesn't work will be doing IVF in the New Year...

anyway, I hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and good luck with it all! x

Artoo · 28/12/2006 09:51

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas! DH and I spent Christmas Day with his family, and Boxing Day at home quietly. Sadly I couldn't get any time off work over Christmas, so it was only a short break for me, but I don't mind - I'd rather save my leave for when I need it around my IVF cycle.

The injections are going very well. They don't hurt at all - just a little bit of an itch as the liquid goes in. DH has been very supportive - he helps me get everything ready and makes sure I'm doing it right. I even let him do the injection for me last night - I reckon we should both be able to do it just in case

First scan is next Thursday - if everything looks alright I'll move onto the next stage (another injection). I'll keep you all updated.

Hugs,
Artoo.

Natty1806 · 28/12/2006 12:18

Yeah didn't get much time together in bed this christmas as we were so busy. so not feeling hopefull this cycle.

Artoo - glad the injections are going well, and your hubbie is getting involved.

Best of luck for your scan next week. Keep us posted.

jules123 · 28/12/2006 15:41

Glad its going well Artoo - I think I may be joining you in IVF next cycle. I think I am about to get AF so am a bit sad. It is horrible how you feel so alone because you can't really talk to anyone about it - no one else wants to know about your problems. How long had you been doing clomid for?

Natty - I do hope it works for you too - how long will you take clomid for all together?

Natty1806 · 28/12/2006 17:41

Am only ever allowed 12 months worth in my whole life so they have let me have six months worth which takes me up to feb then it will be the LOD and another appoinment with consultant to go through next steps etc.

How many months have you tried clomid for ? Are you sure IVF is right for you? what about IUI?

jules123 · 30/12/2006 21:24

Hi, well AF arrived today so hugely depressing. We have decided to do IVF now as I can't take anymore of the failures. I have to drive 400 miles tomorrow to get a hormone profile done from the clinic - we want to go to the one with the best success rate. I don't want to do IUI again, it only has about 10% success rate.

Natty - have you had the day 21 progesterone test yet?

Artoo · 31/12/2006 09:03

Jules, really sorry to hear about AF arriving /hug

This thread is becoming the clomid and IVF girls thread now!

Keep us updated with how you get on with your clinic. 400 miles sounds like a long was to drive for treatment and you may want to offset the additional stress of travelling that far against the success rates. That amount of travelling would not work for me, for sure.

Hugs,
Artoo.

jules123 · 31/12/2006 15:48

thanks Artoo - how are you getting on with the injections? did they tell you to use contraception while on the burserlin or just continue?

I left at 6am to get to the clinic today by 9am, luckily there were hardly any cars but it was dark. I had the blood test and they said the hormone levels were ok so I'll start the long protocol in about 19 days with injections or nasal spray. I'll stay with my father during the treatment as he is only 60 miles from the clinic so I'll have to get the train in from there.

I hope everyone has a very happy new year! x

Artoo · 01/01/2007 07:17

Jules - they didn't tell me to use any contraception whilst on the buserelin. in fact they reassured me that if I should get pregnant whilst on it, it would not cause any harm. They did have one lady come in for her baseline scan before starting the stims to discover she was pregnant, so it can happen.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE - May 2007 be the year we all get pregnant!

Hugs,
Artoo.

jodee · 01/01/2007 10:37

Happy New Year to you all! (Glad to hang up my BournemouthBaubleBabe hat for another year)!

I've posted a new thread on a BBT question, but hope you don't mind me posting it here as well : "I see the shift in temp. (since being on clomid), but does anyone know why my temp varies so much when I take two temps back to back?

eg, today I am on CD13 and have missed a clomid cycle, so I need to know if I have ov'd - first temp on waking was 36.35, it bleeped quite quickly, which I have noticed happens sometimes. Second temp immediately after was 36.53, which to me indicates I have ov'd, looking at my charting, so how do I know which temp is the more accurate? Anyone else have this?"

Jules, what a shame AF arrived, good luck with the IVF, let us know how everything goes.

HopefulDreams · 08/01/2007 22:24

Happy New Year to everyone! I hope 2007 will be a successful year for us all.

It's been about 8 weeks since I last posted a message (I think). When I started clomid and started to post messages I began to feel like I was getting desperate and obsessed (something which I didn't want to do since they say you need to relax and let things happen, so whilst I popped in and out of the thread I tended not to post messages as I will trying to keep my hopes under control.

Anyway I have only 1 month of clomid left to go and not really sure what the next steps are for us. The hospital just keep saying let's just see what happens when the 6 months are up they will talk to me about next steps (well that's next month!).

I've no idea what's happening in my body my normal 26/27/28 day cycle has now passed and I am on day 29. Took a test yesterday and it was negative, have massive period pains but still nothing. Called hospital today and she told me to wait until next Monday and if still nothing to give her a call..... that will be day 36.... I can't believe they think we can wait that length of time!

It's so hard when every month is another disappointment.

Good luck to you all in the coming weeks... will let you know how I get on - promise!

x

jules123 · 10/01/2007 09:18

Hopeful Dreams - maybe that is a good sign, how long were your other cycles on clomid? I know you don't want to seem desparate but sometimes maybe sharing your experiences with other people who are going through the same thing may help. I do hope it works for you. What will you do afterwards if it doesn't? I always like to know what the next step will be.

We are going to do IVF this cycle because after 4 months of clomid and an IUI I had enough of that. I start the nasal spray next Friday.

Artoo how are you getting on with the IVF and Natty what is happening with the clomid? x
