okay I hope I'm not treading on anyone's toes but as the proud owner of a July AF I'm posting early. Any seconders for a BFP filled August are very welcome.

Is my bday in August so fingers crossed. And by my calculations my ov this month should tie in with dh's 30th birthday.

so paws crossed

hello everyone,

a quick question. If ovulation test is postive on cd12, am I right in thinking that by cd 15 all chances of ttc are past?????

MrsMcJnr · 27/07/2006 15:28

Hello, I looked it up in my book, apparently, the general answer is that most women are only fertile for a couple of days but a man's sperm can live for up to 5 days so combined fertilty could make the fertile period as long as a week.

The fertile phase for a woman is as long as she has fertile quality cervical fluid, up through ovulation.

So the answer is not necessarily but it depends what you have been getting up to over the last few days. Sorry that is probably no help at all! Better read more of the book!

DD1ofcolandgerry · 27/07/2006 15:50

MrsMcJnr

TTC after mc in April and this will only be second month of trying. Going to Majorca on Tuesday for a week so hope it won't be too hot to bd as will need to start 6 August and not coming back til 8th. Good luck to everyone else trying.

trace2 · 27/07/2006 16:32

wannaBe1974 · 27/07/2006 16:59

hiya all and welcome to newbies.

On cd13 today although not really counting as seems pointless now.

for those worrying about dp's/dh's sperm being affected by alcohol, the sperm is generally affected 3 months in advance, i.e. the sperm your dh ejaculates now (sorry tmi) is the sperm that was produced three months ago. I remember when dh had his first sperm test when we were ttc for ds the gp said that his count could have been low when he did the test because we'd been to Australia three months previous.

pussycatmomma · 27/07/2006 17:05

hiya all. ... hi wannabe, thanx for posting on my other thread. Hows you? any word about your dh yet? (appt from the booked appt)
Good news from my sister......she now has 14 (yup, count 'em ladies!!) embryos, 13 of which are GRADE 1 which is apparently very very marvelous
So far, looking good. When you see it unfolding like this i always think its a miricle that anyone gets bloody pregnant naturally or otherwise! but people are right when they call it "the miricle of life" . Hopefully she is having 2 little embies transferred tomorrow. Then the torturous 2 ww. i shall keep you all up to date.
love to all

wannaBe1974 · 27/07/2006 17:12

hiya pussycat such great news about your sister, will keep everything crossed for her - is she having the transfer tomorrow?

dh has his appointment on Monday afternoon. I've tried not to mention it as he's been feeling very down about it, saying that he wanted us to decide how many children we would have not nature, and he also said that he wouldn't blame me if I wanted to leave him over this, I just pointed out that I love him for who he is not for his reproductive qualities and pointed out that I'm not exactly going to walk out the door into the arms of a virile man who can give me a baby now am i. So I'm trying not to mention it at all really, as far as I'm concerned we're not having any more babies but the reason doesn't have to be brought up.

coggy · 27/07/2006 17:27

Pussycat - sounds fab for your sister.....

wannaBe - sorry to hear that your dh is so down. Hopefully his mind will be put at rest on Monday but is seems like such a long time to wait.
My dh's first sperm test was not very good - I think they were going round in circles which he didn't find very amusing (!).
We did another one a while later and the result was doubly as good.

Bad english but what I mean is...everything had practically doubled for the better - motility, direction and quantity.
He took multi-vits but I think the poor test was probably down to the odd binge night out a few months before.

Desperate - I pop over to bideford shopping sometimes...have a lovely break.
