You don't have to be crazy to be on this thread but it helps

(Ladies, I thought I would jump in and start a non-sweary titled fred. Feel free to turn the air blue now!)

expat i'm sorry to hear that. strokes hair.

On the good side, this practice run will give valid information for round two yes? I hope you are looking after yourselves.

tametortie · 20/06/2013 06:39

Oh expat Sad cycles are very good as a learning exercise but its still emotionally draining.

We have learnt loads with each one and each subsequent one has got better. Doesn't make the negative any easier though.

onwards and upwards chick xxxx

Wish- good luck for EC today. Xxx

I have had a great night. No pain and bleeding has slowed right down. If I had a MC again (please god no...) I would opt for medical management again. Its intense and painful for a few hours but it gets things shifted. Also, no sickness this morning. Perhaps its psychological but its a relief.

I dreamt about Carrie and Big last night. Too much sex and the city ..

Yes of course.

You have looked at agates file on ff?

I know juicy will slap me with a Sheba pouch (!) but you can try a couple of things for egg quality- its worth a go?

Do you have more sperm frozen?

tametortie · 20/06/2013 06:50

And expat, 1st round is always a bit experimental if you are unexplained. It usually throws up minute biochemical differences between egg and sperm like binding issues, quality issues etc. Its a long shot on the first cycle when you are unexplained.

Our first cycle was failed fertilisation cos the sperm couldn't get in the egg. I've never cried so much in my life.

Lifeasafish · 20/06/2013 06:52

tame was just going to ask how your night was. I'm happy it was great and you sound upbeat. What a horrid/ review, recommendation to make, but thank you as it is good to know. Look after yourself and your family - lots of coffee, wine and whatever else tickles your fancy!

expat I don't know much, but I'm happy to read and help too. LaaF.x

Expat- immunes are well worth a look. Testing is quite simple too. You can get really in depth but as a first step NK cells, thyroid and blood clotting are a good start.

Fish- I know- what a manky recommendation!!! Hope to God nobody on here ever needs to use it but after reading the horror stories about erpc's the other day, I had to put it out there as an alternative...

Karbea · 20/06/2013 07:15

Choco are you going to the argc?

Expat bear in mind your immunes can be fine at the start but the drugs can cause them to react, so you need to retest some during your cycle.

Tame you can't change egg quality but you can change the environment that they are going to grow in, as far as I know.

tametortie · 20/06/2013 07:17

Karbea- thats it!! I knew there was a phrase that goes with it. You can make the environment they mature in healthier.

eurozammo · 20/06/2013 07:18

Expat, sorry for the bfn. You sound very calm about it.

Tortie, you sound like you are doing really well. I'm glad the worst seems to be over.

mejust · 20/06/2013 07:57

oh expat i really wanted a positive for you,you sound very positive to take steps for round 2 which is something to concentrate on and get the ball rolling for next treatment.
Im only doing this 1 cycle.

tam glad you got some rest last night and things have eased up this morning Flowers

wish good luck for egg collection today cant believe its here already this week has gone quick, hope you get a good haul Smile

mejust · 20/06/2013 07:58

Expat- did you have icsi??

The fertilsation rate and subsequent embryo development is definitely something I would want answers on. Have you looked at the DNA fragmentation test I am getting DH to do? This can affect fertilisation and embryo development.

Penny at serum told me that hidden c can affect egg and sperm and embryo quality. The test is in agates file- I am going to do it when I have my next normal bleed.

Well worth getting DHEA level checked.

How come your DH has SSR? Is it obstructive azoospermia? I would definitely want more details on the sperm. I think someone on FF told me that fertilisation rates are low with SSR but I would still want more details.

Embryologist report should give you some info on what stage they were at on day 2. Did you have an 8 cell put back on day 3?

Have you had karotyping done?

What protocol were you on this time? Sometimes too much LH can affect egg quality apparently. This is something I was going to raise at my review.

I'll keep thinking.....

JuicySausage · 20/06/2013 08:15

Expat, you are amazing and so is your list. Truly, I hope I am as philosophical as you if this turns out unhappily but I won't be 'cos we have no more money If you get answers to even half of those questions above I think you'll be well on your way to a baby xx

Tortally Brave, you're my hero. That is all Thanks

Wish, best of luck today. Be cool x

mejust · 20/06/2013 08:15

expat after going through this no one expects it to be that easy to just move on straight away after a negative after all you have gone through with treatment and mentally .
armed with the answers to your questions from the doctor should help you make some choice decisions for the next round of treatment,i think your questions are fine to ask.

tametortie · 20/06/2013 08:17

Also did you have a scratch done? This can improve implantation.

BUT definitely look at embryo quality first.

I have made the big mistake this time of doing lots of work around implantation- nk cells, scratch, heparin rinse- but if the embryo is not good....

Be careful of PGD too- make sure they check you have a genetic disorder before being pushed into this. Our last clinic wanted me to pay 5k for PGD when all genetic tests were clear Hmm sometimes genetics can be very subtle and it could just be a case of sperm/egg not matching (DQ alpha?) but dont be pushed into throwing money at PGD without hard proof that it will benefit you.

tametortie · 20/06/2013 08:19

Expat- I want to second the guys above. Well done on being so proactive and utterly brave on such a difficult day xxxxx

JuicySausage · 20/06/2013 08:20

Expat, can I ask why your embies were not taken to day 5? They must find it so hard to know an embryo's viability at day three. Or am I talking rubbish? Yes, I think I am Sad

I think sperm fragmentation is a good test, but I really am not going to comment further 'cos I haven't got the foggiest. I wish I could help, but in practical terms I am brewing a behemoth of a shit right now to torment your doc with. Should be ready in about...ooooh....five days?

JuicySausage · 20/06/2013 08:23

A woman on the over-40 thread had failed DE IVF a couple of months ago. She just got a BFP with her FET round having had her first ever endometrial 'scratch'. So there.
