I'm still hanging about Smile waiting for some more bfp's!

I think I started testing far too early too, I'm still not getting a clear line on the internet cheapies, and definitely recommend the superdrug sticks - I got a box of 2 for £4 on Saturday.

Also I never had more than a faint line on my opks when I used them, but I only used them once a day and have read you need to use them more than that or you can miss the positive.

I think I'm still in a state of shock! I think Dh was too, first words were "well done" ha ha!

tinypolkadot · 28/05/2013 17:55

Thanks golden Smile great news for you too! Hope it all goes well on Thursday, will be thinking of you. Can't offer any advice re pain though I'm afraid.

BNmum · 28/05/2013 17:55

No worries blueamber there's so many different gadgets and devices out there to help conceive it's difficult to keep up with them all. This is my first month of using opks with hormone indicator so i'm alittle unsure how reliable they'll be. I feel a lot more confident now my friend has given me some backups opks.

BNmum · 28/05/2013 17:58

Ah! I missed this whole page. That's great news golden! Sorry I've got no idea about the pain but I hope it's swift and painless for you.

MrsLadyL · 28/05/2013 18:17

I took opk Friday with very strong reading.... Just not sure. This timing it is so hard. I defo felt it last cycle never felt much pain yesterday but increased cm today. Fingers crossed I guess and il try DTD again tonight but doubtful as hubby Woking late :( X

MrsLadyL · 28/05/2013 18:20

My coil worked itself out. Went for regular smear and nurse was like oh I need to get a doc ASAP. It was hagging out apparently couldn't leave it like that so pulled it out there and then. Bit painful shocked more than anything problem say worse having it put in. Hope that helps

CristaBell · 28/05/2013 20:34

bnmum yes been using opk for the first time this month but haven't had a positive yet. how's everything with you?

mrsladyL hope your DH doesn't get in to late tonight! Wink

Coffee1Sugar · 29/05/2013 07:40

My coil came out totally pain free. The doctor had removed it before I'd realised it had started basically. The mundane weather chat no doubt took my mind off it.

How are we all this morning? I've woken up feeling all sniffly and blocked up. I only got over full blown sinusitis a couple of weeks ago so it better not to turn into a cold!

Morning ladies!
Poor you coffee, I hope you feel better soon.

How did you get on last night LadyL?

All good here Cristabell, it sounds like we are running to the same EMSP this month. I'm hoping to get a +ve OPK today or tomorrow but who knows. I usually test about 1-2pm. Are you using cb ones too?

Have you started to get any symptoms tiny?

Sorry to bombard you all with so many questions so early in the morning. Think I'll have another brew and calm myself down!

shoegal84 · 29/05/2013 08:12

Hi, My husband and I are just back from our holiday of a lifetime and now planning to start trying. Just waiting for AF and to stop taking the malaria tablets and we should be good to go from next week (ish).

I'm totally new to all of this and don't really have a clue about anything, to be honest I'm finding it all pretty daunting. Any tips of things that I should/could be doing now? I've read a few articles and know that I should start taking Folic Acid, I don't smoke or drink anyway.

Thank so much in advance.

Monstamio · 29/05/2013 09:02

Ladies, I desperately need someone to tell me to get a grip! Currently on CD32. Normally my cycles are a regular 28 or 29 days. I've checked my log and have had one 32 day cycle in the past 8 months which was in December. We went away for Christmas and have also had a holiday this month so wondering if there's a connection.

I've had mild cramping since Sunday, but no sign of AF apart from that and both yesterday and today got BFNs with first morning pee. I'm starting to wonder if there's a problem with the internet cheapie sticks I've got as a (small but not insignificant) minority of people report false negatives. But I've got zero pregnancy symptoms so think I'm just deluding myself. Aaarrghh.,... didn't think I would get this obsessed!

Golden Congratulations on getting the date moved forward - that must be such a big relief! And then you can get cracking with the ttc!

Shoegal - welcome to the thread! Definitely start taking folic acid - the advice is to start 1-3 months before starting ttc, but I only managed about 2 weeks before we started. My doc also recommended Vit D, which you can get as one of the pregnancy supplements. Avoid normal multivits though as they contain Vit A which is best avoided. Er what else... don't take Ibuprofen... and dtd (do the deed) 2-3 times a week throughout the month. Or at least every other day when you're ovulating if you know when that is. That being the most important bit!!

Tilson78 · 29/05/2013 09:22

Monstamio during my last cycle I flew long haul to Hong Kong and my cycle was late by about 5 days. I was convinced I was pregnant, took two tests and both negative! Turns out flying can affect your cycle and put off your period! Who knew?! My period came the day after I took the second test. Sigh. Google flying and periods and you'll be able to read a bit more about it.

shoegal I'd advise all that Monstamio has said. I would add a word of caution about using lubricant and saliva - I only found out that it affects sperms motility and doesnt create the best environment for conception. I am ordering a conception friendly lube called Preseed just as soon as my AF arrives.

Coffee1Sugar · 29/05/2013 09:24

Tilson - have you ordered it off amazon? I'm just ordering some too! Convinced this month will be a bfn

DisneyDiva87 · 29/05/2013 10:02

I believe I am on my first 2ww! I'm very excited at the possibility that I could be pregnant (although being the first time I'm fairly confident that there will be no BFP this month). From CF/CM I'm pretty sure I've ovulated already but not 100% sure, will just have to keep DTD just in case (what a shame, eh?). I've bought some cheapie pg tests from boots and then a couple of clearblue in the cupboard for when I think I have a BFP on the cheapie test.

Hope it's not TMI.

Hope you all get the BFP's you are waiting for! Thanks

Coffee1Sugar · 29/05/2013 10:15

Just been to the GP for a separate issue but asked what likelihood I have of a bfp. She's a really lovely lady but she seemed to look at me like I was completely thick. She said "well you've had a mirena. Any long acting hormonal contraceptive will take several months to leave your body". So now I feel completely despondent. Having said that, dd was a pill baby. So now I'll await Af next week sometime hopefully and have bought some pre-seed. But hey, it'll take months anyway after all Sad

Monstamio · 29/05/2013 10:16

Thanks for being the voice of reason Tilson. I didn't fly long haul, but after doing a bit of reading I'm sure you're right. In which case, I wish AF would just hurry up and show so I can get on with next month!

Hope all is well with everyone else today.

DisneyDiva87 · 29/05/2013 10:29

Maybe you'll be the exception Coffee! All the more reason to DTD more often

I was away in America and just got home 2 days ago will that flight have affected my cycle? Will have to have a wee read of that article.

Goldenhandshake · 29/05/2013 10:45

Thanks ladies, Monstamio it is a huge relief, I am just a bit nervous.

MrsLady I have the almost exact opposite problem, it's worked it's way further up, Dr and a nurse could not see strings at all and couldn't get it out, had a bloody good go though ouch. So I've had ultrasounds to locate it and now need a hysteroscopy to remove it.

blueamber · 29/05/2013 10:54

Hi shoegal, I agree with the others, take folic acid now and vitamin D, but even easier is to take vitamins especially for conception, such as pregnacare or solgar prenatal. It's a bit expensive, but worth it! I also take some omega 3 tablets, it's not necessary though. Make sure they're not from cod liver oil, because this contains vitamin A, which you don't want to take.

coffee hope you won't get a cold. I had one last month, sore throat first then a bad cold, which luckily only lasted a few days. I started doing this weird thing, rinsing my nose with a saline solution using neilmed sinus rinse. It's an uncomfortable feeling at first, but I found it works really well with a blocked nose and sinusitis! I was all blocked up, with sinus headaches, but rinsing has cleared everything up! Also safe to use during pregnancy, unlike those nose sprays.

Your GP is a bit of a party pooper! I can understand where she is coming from I suppose, because you could still be protected for a few months, but on the other hand, the hormone levels will be slowly decreasing so you might get pregnant. I can't believe you conceived while on the pill!

monstamio perhaps you can get a different brand of stick just to double check? I did read those of the internet are supposed to be good, but also superdrug cheapies? I got some yesterday, they're on offer as well.

disney me too! Very exciting. But I'm trying to stay rational, because I don't want to get too disappointed... although I'm not really succeeding Smile

tinypolkadot · 29/05/2013 11:04

Hi BNMum my only symptoms are swollen boobs at the moment, I keep wondering if I feel nauseous, but think that's more in my head than anything else. Still getting the odd crampy twinge and tiny bit of spotting as well.

Monstamio there's still hope yet, I think the internet cheapies take a while to show a positive result.

Tilson78 · 29/05/2013 11:21

Hey coffee have some preseed in my Amazon basket so will order it for the next round of DTD. Spoke to my acupuncturist yesterday and she really rates preseed. Said ideally not to use anything but not to the point that it might impede DTD. She recommended that as the best conception friendly lube and I imagine she knows her stuff as conception is her speciality! Good luck.

DisneyDiva87 · 29/05/2013 11:22

I know what you mean blue, I keep getting a funny feeling in the bladder area and I keep thinking to myself "maybe that's implantation" "maybe I'm pregnant" but I'm very confident that I'm not! Will be very shocked if I am but no doubt I'll still be really disappointed when AF shows up.

Monstamio · 29/05/2013 11:23

Thanks Tiny and Blueamber - I think I will try a different brand, but will try to hold out for a couple more days, as I'm sure I'm not pg. Keep checking my boobs every day and nope, same as always Grin

Coffee that's pants - I hate lingering summer colds. My dh has only just got over one which seems to have lasted about a fortnight, so it could just be the remnants of your sinusitis. Assuming it's not hayfever of course..?

DisneyDiva87 · 29/05/2013 11:30

I pity anyone who has hayfever this year, I was reading on the news that they expect sufferers to be hit really hard this year due to a late Spring and a whole load of trees and flowers (and grass!) pollinating at once instead of spread out through the year so far.

Hope you feel better soon Coffee

Monstamio · 29/05/2013 15:31

All that talking about it must have made something happen as AF has finally put in an appearance. Boo hiss. Still, at least I know where I stand now.

Will be trying OPKs this month so we'll see how that goes!
