Anyone like to join me on this journey of conception?! Going to start in May to ttc no 2

Gnomie I'm 33... and most of my friends are either pregnant now or have only had their first in the past year or two so I wouldn't worry.

I think it depends on where you live as to norms. In London people seem to start their families much later than elsewhere (based on purely my own observations).

Goldenhandshake · 16/05/2013 09:28

I was three months shy of 24 with my first, am now 28 and wanting to ttc #2 Smile ignore the silly family planning clinic, she seems to hold a very old fashioned view!

BNmum · 16/05/2013 09:35

I hope it all goes well on the 11th golden

Sounds like it could have just been a one off tiny, like you say keep an eye on it but it could have been the position, the frequency you are dtd at the moment, ovulation.....all sorts of things really.

I hope everyone has a good day!

GnomieGrace · 16/05/2013 09:59

Thanks everyone I would have liked to start a little earlier but am happy with the age we are at now. I have 2 friends who are pregnant and one who has a 4wk old and they are all 31-33yrs old!

Thankyou to both Coffee 1 sugar and polka dot for your replies in regards to my folic acid. Much apprieciated. xx

blueamber · 16/05/2013 11:21

Hi gnomie, can't believe that woman told you to hurry! I believe 29 is actually the average age now women have their first child. With women being in education for longer and then starting a career it makes sense to wait a bit longer. I am 31 and we are starting ttc first time this month, as we are now financially secure. I would just prefer to have a child before 35, as I know that after that fertility drops and chances of complications rise, but I'm not worried that I am older than 30.

I also just stopped the pill. First bleed is indeed a withdrawal bleed. It is unsure when ovulation would be, as your body can be a bit confused after stopping the pill, but my reasoning is that hopefully the cycle will start working the week after stopping the pill and the body might start preparing for ovulation for the week after that. Just have to look out for the signs.

Today is CD9, just did an opk (I know I know, I caved) and it says I'm not ovulating but have very heavy creamy discharge Blush. This is first month after mirena. When will I ovulate?!

OP posts:
BNmum · 16/05/2013 20:04

Hi coffee I don't know anything about mirena but if you don't know your cycle length it's advised to start OPKs on cd10. If i had EWCM around this time i would have tested too to see if I was ovulating.

Sorry not much help, just wanted to say keep up the OPKs and see what happens.

Coffee1Sugar · 16/05/2013 20:11

Thank you Smile according to mumsnet and babycentre's ov calculators, my fertile days are between 18-24th so maybe I'm ahead of myself?? Withdrawal bleed from mirena started on 8th may, I'm CD9 today.

Goldenhandshake · 17/05/2013 11:08

Hi Ladies, just checking in. I am getting very impatient, feels so far away until I can get the mirena out. Feeling very low about it.

Coffee My Dr told me to expect ovulation up to 6 weeks after removal (could be less time than this of course) but in general it can take up to six weeks for your body to get it's rhythm back apparently.

MushiMushi · 17/05/2013 14:12

Flowers Golden, it's frustrating isn't it? I just checked the calendar and it's only about 6 weeks ago that my partner caved in to my bullying agreed that we should ttc. It feels like a lifetime ago! I've got 2 weeks left before I ovulate and can actually start trying.

itsnotrocketscience · 17/05/2013 14:16

No luck for me this month, period came 3 days early. Oh well, on bright side won't be puking on my holiday in a few weeks! Good luck to the rest of you.

Monstamio · 17/05/2013 14:23

Sorry to hear that AF got you itsnotrocketscience. Bummer that it came early too... though better than coming late I guess. Does your holiday coincide with your next fertile days... in which case could be a perfect opportunity for lots of relaxed dtd?!

itsnotrocketscience · 17/05/2013 15:13

Like your way of thinking monstamio!

Coffee1Sugar · 17/05/2013 17:54

Feeling sad ladies, albeit irrationally as had another negative opk test today CD10. I need a slap.

tinypolkadot · 17/05/2013 18:00

hi coffee I haven't had a strong positive this month either. I've read that ideally you should test four times a day Shock or you could miss your positive, which I'm thinking might have happened to me as I've only tested once a day.

I think I might ditch them when I've used this batch and JS instead!

tinypolkadot · 17/05/2013 18:06

cristabell I was back on the bus past couple of days as getting too many questions about why I wasn't on it! couldn't think of a sensible answer long term so I've been trying to sit nearer the front and hoping all is well down there Smile

Coffee1Sugar · 17/05/2013 18:16

4 x a day?! Jesus I'm broke after one batch! Ffs I'll ditch them next month! Hopefully will dtd tonight anyway

OP posts:
tinypolkadot · 17/05/2013 18:26

That made me laugh coffee shame they're so bloody addictive, I'm about to poas now and I know it won't be positive.

good luck tonight!

GnomieGrace · 17/05/2013 18:27

I've not even considered OPK an just going to DTD every other day from when AF leaves for 3 weeks, DH won't know what's hit him! Lol! Just waiting for AF to get out the door.

GnomieGrace · 17/05/2013 18:27

Good Luck Tiny!

Coffee1Sugar · 17/05/2013 18:33

Good luck Tiny! I'm off to shave my legs in readiness for tonight's antics! Lucky DP - a Friday night shag and a girlfriend who doesn't resemble a stubbly chimp Grin

OP posts:
tinypolkadot · 17/05/2013 18:34

thanks gnomie I do wonder if I've ovulated at all this month, hope so!

I think my dh was a bit shocked that I actually meant it when I said we'd be dtd at least 3x a week! I think he thought I was bluffing Grin

tinypolkadot · 17/05/2013 18:43

lol coffee and thanks. hope your dp appreciates the effort!

tinypolkadot · 17/05/2013 18:49

No line on my opk today. That must be me for this month then as I'm on CD21 now and can expect AF in 7 - 10 days I think.
