We've run out of room on Karbea's Jan IVF thread and it is too much fun to stop! We're all getting into comfy clothes and enjoying the side effects and surprises (and occasionally some hand holding).

OP posts:
Dildals · 18/03/2013 13:22

I remember first time I cycled to work after ET, I was afraid the little 'uns were going to shake out, because of all the uneven road paving!

There's a scientific study (a 'real' one ;) that shows that IVF'ers that take prenatal vits have higher chance of success. They used Pregnacare in that test, although I am sure that similar brands should be OK.

I know that entire generations got pregnant while puffing on a pack a day and gluggling sherry (my mum) but it doesn't seem to be working for me, so I am still sticking with the clean living approach for now. After the litter has been dropped I may indulge in some prosecco. And I have heard that Guiness is good for pregnant women. :-)

My Pregnacare (the pregnant one, not the conception one) has some sort of omega pill in there as well (it's 2 pills), so I assume I am covered on that front.

noks lots of yams to be found where I live, I can take some over to the IRL meet if you want! ;-) My high street is also v good at unlocking mobile phones, sourcing hair extensions and providing halal meat. The only thing missing is a nail bar!

Karbea · 18/03/2013 13:43

I guess most of that generation were younger, definitely younger than me.

EuroShaggleton · 18/03/2013 13:45

Dildals, very similar high st here!

When I was seeing someone about the immunology stuff, he recommended the Pregnacare with the extra oils pill as apparently they can help to balance out the immune system.

You clean living ladies are making me feel rather guilty! Mind you, I tried that last year and go nowhere so who knows?

Karbea we are at Create as we wanted a low drug approach.

I've also sometimes thought that this is all "karma" for some of the stuff I have done in my past.

shazz the "naked scanners" are what I call the airport scanners that use backscatter radiation. There is a debate raging about how safe they are. Some people say you get far more radiation on the flight from being closer to the sun. Others think they are evil.

Noks I'm laughing at the sunshine bus comment! Can you park it round the corner from my place? I might be needing it again soon.

Shazzamattazzerly · 18/03/2013 13:48

Dildals you cycled after ET? DP and I cycle a lot but I've told him no cycling. Not sure why. I'm a mad woman is all I can say! But we are thinking of Amsterdam for our train odessey now and cycling could feature do it would be good if it was ok for me.

Apart from the cycling I'm am seriously losing my mind. Noks' sunshine bus has just stopped here to pick me up. I want some reassuring symptoms damn it! I can't stop thinking about all the lovely women on here who have experienced losses over the past few months and I'm so scared. It doesn't matter how many times I google no symptoms at 5 weeks and the results come up that plenty of women dont have symptoms it isn't reassuring. I have to wait another 17 days til my scan. 17! I'll be sectioned by then.

Hope you are all having a good Monday.

Love shazza. Xx

Shazzamattazzerly · 18/03/2013 13:49

Euro we cross posted. I'm on the bus already. I've bagged you a seat at the back Smile x

Shazzamattazzerly · 18/03/2013 13:51

Ps I'm taking the omega 3 and vit d re immune system. At Zita west they thought that might be the reason for my fascinating skin disease. X

keepitgoing · 18/03/2013 14:12

shaz I think there's been enough bad luck and sadness on this thread. It ends now, hear me universe!! Amsterdam cycling sounds low impact and perfect. Bruges is also gorgeous and easy by train. Or boat to Scandinavia? Lovely in early summer, though poss expensive once you're there.

Shazzamattazzerly · 18/03/2013 14:32

Hello keep thanks for the excellent travel suggestions. I will look them up tonight.

I know we've had our share of bad luck here but we have also had some amazing luck. I just need to focus on that I know and be happy. When does the worrying stop and the happiness kick in? I've just promised Mr shaz that I will quit worrying for this afternoon. I'll start with that and see how I get on.

I'm alone in the office today hence all the googling and posting!

TillyToffee · 18/03/2013 14:32

I posted a message this morning and it didn't 'stick' and now I can't remember what I said to you all.

I was v tempted to test early, and even went to a shop on my way to work to get a HPT but it wasn't open in time.

I keep getting 'signs' like songs on the radio that have names in from 'our list' and I don't mean modern songs, I mean songs that are 30, 40, 50 years old that you wouldn't expect to hear.

I also left my gloves in Wilko's yesterday. If that's not Baby Brain then tell me what is.

Anyone else's ODT this week?

Nokkie73 · 18/03/2013 14:43

shazza I am going hunting for YAMS, not yarns.

Everyone - The sunshine bus will be taking a detour to have shazza's ears cleaned out before reaching nuthouse central Grin.

I decided to sack off going to the cinema to see Lincoln because, as shazza says, it looks as dull as shite. I don't know what I was thinking. Had acupuncture and wagamamas has kindly offered to feed me for a small fee before going on the great yam hunt. Bad Nokkie for not walking past and having something at home.

keeps I agree. Feck off bad karma.

dildals it would be much more entertaining if you could you bring me a dodgy weave from the market. Grin

euro gives you a transatlantic wave.

karbea seeing the ARGC makes me want to say ARGHHH. Don't know why.

Noks xx

TillyToffee · 18/03/2013 14:45

What do we think about POAS in the afternoon? I know morning's best but I go past an Asda on my way home from work and am curious...

Nokkie73 · 18/03/2013 14:46

tills hello

TillyToffee · 18/03/2013 14:51

Hello Noks :)

Shazzamattazzerly · 18/03/2013 14:52

Noks I've just looked at your previous post and you are right it does in fact state yams. In my bleary eyedness this morning I read yarns. I thought it was odd that yarn was hard to come by in middle england given that 80% of surrey women probably knit Wink.

Sounds like pregger head Tilly! Re testing I tested in the afternoon before AF was due and it was negative. 2 days later it was positive.

I like it on this bus. Everyone is carefree and we are currently singing oh I do like to be beside the seaside.

TillyToffee · 18/03/2013 14:58

My yam jumpers keep me snuggly in early springtime.

I think I'm leading myself rather foolishly headfirst into a big fat disappointment, but like to think it's entirely possible. Maybe I'll just wait for tomorrow to see what they say. But I just like the idea of POAS like 'normal' gals and being delighted like normal gals. Urgh, am on my final 24 hours of the 2WW (which admittely is only 10 days not two actual weeks) and am now doing my nut.

keepitgoing · 18/03/2013 15:01

tilly I'm on Friday... I think you should wait, you're so nearly there, and your two lines will be much clearer in the morning...

keepitgoing · 18/03/2013 15:05

But you should def poas at home, not wait till you go there at 5...

Shazzamattazzerly · 18/03/2013 15:29

Especially as they will probably give you the results via smoke signals Tilly. Imagine if it's raining!

Dildals · 18/03/2013 15:59

I think a lot of normal girls also go mentalling over pregnancy as well. As my dentist, a very wise man, solemnly declared recently 'pregnancy is a stressful time', before he prescribed me some sort of mouthguard to stop me grinding my teeth.

shazza why would you not be able to cycle?! I think it might get a bit more tricky if you have a big belly because of balance issues. A tandem maybe? I went for a run on Sunday (albeit v slow).

Also - you are not far ahead enough for symptoms! Don't worry! You had a positive pregnancy test, that's all that matters for now!

Finally - I am getting really curious to see that fascinating skin disease!

Oh, and PPS - I have booked tix on the Eurostar to Amsterdam for next week. We're taking Gramma Myfanwy (92yo) to see the red light district tulip fields (I am from the Netherlands, the land where you get 3 IVF cycles for free. I didn't plan that v well did I?)

Tilly - NO PEEING! At least wait till the morning!

Nokkie73 · 18/03/2013 16:40

dildals lucky you remembered what your dentist (lets call him Chief Molar because he's obviously so wise) said because it is truly revolutionary. He's clearly one of the big thinkers of his generation. An intellectual colossus. Hmm. Honestly, fecking men. Anyway, I bloody loved Amsterdam and the Dutch. How come you have to take Granny ?

tills do as dildals says. No peepee until tomorrow.

shazza I got my yam innit ! It looks like a massive furry muddy penis. Yum.

Noks x

Dildals · 18/03/2013 16:54

Noks it's a bit niche but there's quite a lucrative market for Welsh grannies in Amsterdam.

Dildals · 18/03/2013 17:04

I have my booking appointment on Saturday and one of my direct colleague's wife works as a midwife in my borough/hospital ... Now I have these visions that the midwife on Saturday will be her! Or is this type of grunt work left to the nurses?

Shazzamattazzerly · 18/03/2013 17:21

Hi all

Another working day over.

Dildals I'm not sure where I got the idea about cycling. I guess I just assumed that there was a falling off risk and I'm sure someone said that you shouldn't ride a horse so I thought maybe the same applied for bikes. Enjoy Amsterdam. We are going to continue holiday planning/searching tonight. Unfortunately my skin is unpredictable. I either look like ive been bitten all over my face or I've been whipped and have welts on my body. Lovely!

So you mean that it is NORMAL not to have any symptoms at 5 weeks? Oh. Ok then. Great. No more worrying Smile

Noks what does one do with a yam?

Xx

TillyToffee · 18/03/2013 17:27

Hello ladies. Two news items from me:

  1. Captain Birdseye from Flintstones left a message on the house phone while I was at work and said my 3 blastocysts didn't make it to the freezer Sad

Even though, so far, I've thought of them as microscopic cells, I feel a wee bit bereft. But shall pull myself together in a non-sentimental way and soldier on.

  1. As I had already left work when you lovely ladies told me not to POAS, I promptly disobeyed you and bought some First Response and Clear Blue. Sorry!I POAS as soon as I got in from work (I wanted to do it before DH came home because I not going to tell him about the POAS - I just wanted to brace myself for ODT tmw and support him better). I knew that the result would be a bit iffy because it was in the afternoon and I'd just drunk two bottles of iced tea on the way home. But nevertheless, two pink lines = up the duff.

Could it be the progesterone?

I am not getting too excited because I haven't had the official test yet, or it might be ectopic or something.

Can anyone tell me - either from experience or research - anything about getting a false positive? Don't sugarcoat it, I'd rather know if it is known issue.

Thanks guys x

TillyToffee · 18/03/2013 17:33

Oh god, now I'm googling properly, I wish I'd never done it! Stupid stupid girl Angry
