We've run out of room on Karbea's Jan IVF thread and it is too much fun to stop! We're all getting into comfy clothes and enjoying the side effects and surprises (and occasionally some hand holding).

What I really meant was a 3-D HD scan of the whole procedure which you can turn into a fun viewing experience for the whole family.

Didn't Dr Barney Rubble offer you that ? Wink

Only joking tills . I don't want you to stick your protest bonnet on and take to your bed again. It was just a picture, and for all our fancy southern ways, I didn't even fecking get that.

Nokkie73 · 17/03/2013 20:02

A scan I mean. A scan.

chocoloco1 · 17/03/2013 20:20

Hello gorgeous ladies,

How are you all?

euro I guess you're away now and hope everything's ok

noks great news about your transfer, well done! I know what you mean about being stunned, I was on bloody cloud 9! I just relaxed acted like a lazy cow for a few days and let DH do all the work after transfer and had acupuncture a couple of times. As for the pic of embie, I couldn't really tell what was what apart from the my massive bladder (but it didn't stop me from sleeping with it under my pillow during the 2ww the 1st time) Blush. 'Fanny like a windsock' is classic

shazza I know what you mean about the hair dye, was thinking of getting mine done, but it's just not worth the risk. I feel the same about symptoms and keep finding myself thinking back to what they were like before. Boobs don't really hurt, but I do feel nauseous at times but I am prone to stuff like motion sickness so think I'm super sensitive. You have your blood test results which they said were good. I wasn't sure about taking omega 3, but good to see you can.

tilly it's hard not to imagine what is going on in the 2ww, but I was convinced it hadn't worked. Just 2 more sleeps? Do you think you will POAS before going into the Flintstone clinic? Crap about them not ringing as well. As for grading, I didn't ask, well there was only 1, so didn't seem much point. I asked at the follow-up appointment and they said last time was a grade 2, with 1 being the best

keep it really is hard to tell. I had to make myself stay positive until the end, as I figured I'd have plenty of time to be sad after if it didn't work.

karbea sorry to hear about AF, hope you can still be fitted in this month.

Well, I'm not sure it's sunk in yet as I keep suddenly thinking 'oh my god'. I had some mental dreams last night involving me cuddling lots of cats amongst other things and being at a surprise party thrown for me and not knowing anyone! Very vivid. I can't seem to ditch the POAS addiction, but it's hardly crack, so I think I'm ok! Quite jealous of all the bum bullet conversations( yes, I did just say that) as I just have a sharp prick to look forward to each night Wink

TillyToffee · 17/03/2013 20:39

Snigger @ Bum Bullets and Sharp Pricks.

I've been taking Sanatogen 'Mother to Be' tablets for what seems like my entire adult life probably because they were on spesh in Boots, but has anyone done any comparisons with these kinds of supplements? Shazza you're taking Pregnacare aren't you? I was wondering whether I'd be better to switch to them but am too bone idle to research myself.

I used to take Omega 3,6,9 - I knew that Omega 3 was good for endometriosis so try and remember to eat avocado, olive oil, and nuts every week. But on the tub/bottle of Omega 3,6,9 capsules it says not to take while pg or TTC so I've stopped taking them all together. Does anyone know whether it's the Omega 6 or 9 or both that's a no-no? Would it be worth me getting some Omega 3 on its own?

Nokkie73 · 17/03/2013 20:43

Oh feck, aren't you supposed to take extra omega 3 ? Tis a minefield, all this.

Nokkie73 · 17/03/2013 20:49

choco thank you ! You've gone all Sid James on us. Love it.

TillyToffee · 17/03/2013 20:52

No that's just it - I think you can take Omega 3 because Shazza takes it. But mine isn't Omega 3 on its own, it's 36&9 so I'm wondering about why there was the warning on the bottle.

Nokkie73 · 17/03/2013 21:03

Going to check mine now.

SHAZZA we need your expertise here ! Can you confirm what the sketch is. Is there any fish you are avoiding ?

tills boots were doing a 3for 2 on the baby vitamins so it's worth checking with them. If not, holland and Barrett had 1/3 off.

chocoloco1 · 17/03/2013 21:03

Who knows?! I even read something today saying that herbal teas are not definitely safe, FFS, they couldn't be more boring - how can they be toxic?

Nokkie73 · 17/03/2013 21:18

Jeezus, that is ridiculous. My nan, god love her, got preggers three times on a diet of about 30 fags and ten cups of tea per day so one should take these sorts of reports with a pinch if salt. I am not advocating that as a sure fire way to fertility by the way !

TillyToffee · 17/03/2013 21:20

Whilst we're at it - I also would like the 411 on massage and essential oils please ladies. I know that some oils are not safe in pregnancy and presumably whilst TTC/cycling. But which oils? All I ever hear/read is "some oils". My sister suggested just not going for a massage to be on the safe side but I couldn't half do with getting my neck and shoulders done. Do you think just using a base oil would be safe?

I really feel like I have not done enough research into this baby lark. I didn't want to 'obsess' but there is a happy medium between being totally ignorant and obsessing and I think I ought to check this happy medium out!

Nokkie73 · 17/03/2013 21:48

tills you may struggle to get any oils to use in the first three months. Try neals yard (vaguely remember getting a colleague some set when she was preggers) or bert's bees. I think you can order stuff from both online.

Shazzamattazzerly · 17/03/2013 22:30

Ladies sorry for the desertion mr s and I have been trying to find a decent holiday location that you can get a train to and it doesn't take half your holiday to get there. We thought we had found a lovely place in south of France and then discover that it cost £400 EACH return. For goodness sake how are we supposed to get around? No wonder Ryanair are doing so well. Never mind the risk to our unborn children and the enormous carbon footprint. Sod that, what we want is cheap travel. What happened to the age of the train?

Any road up, now what were you saying about supps? I'd heard that pregnacare was the best. I'm afraid that I can't remember the source of that info and tbh I started taking them cause they had his n hers in one box and boots was 3for2.

As for omega 3, I'm only going on what the nutritionist said. But she said that DHA is more important than EPA so this one MorDHA prenatal is the one to go for. Here is the link www.mordha.co.uk. I got mine from nutricentre www.nutricentre.com/

I'm just taking the other omega 3 as well cause I've already got a pot and she said to finish them up. Basically we tend to eat way more omega 6 like veg oil etc. the ratio should be 2:1 of omega 6:3 as I said when I was tested I was 12.5:1 so massively high omega 6.

Looked up omega 3 in pregnancy and found this
www.thinkbaby.co.uk/pregnancy-diet-and-nutrition/omega-3-could-reduce-risk-of-premature-birth-and-postnatal-depression/5223.html

I was also warned of getting holland and Barrett own brand vits cause the quality is not that good. Better to get a good quality one.

As for fish best to avoid big fish that live a long time and pick up toxins so tuna, marlin, shark, swordfish etc. And no cod liver oil.

I'm afraid I don't know about oils. I've just bought dr haushka rose body oil. I love dr h products but I must admit I didn't think about whether it was safe. I'll check tomorrow.

Choco I'd also heard about done herbal teas. You could check on the net. I'd also heard not to drink more than 3 cups of the same one a day. Not sure why that is and I have it so weak anyway I'm not sure it matters but hey I'm not flying, not having sex, not colouring my hair I'm not going to blow it by having one too many peppermint teas!

I hope you are all feeling ok.

Choco the POAS addiction is a difficult one to break. I've gone 2 days so far and I'm really tempted tomorrow but I'm not going to do it.

Noks I hope you are getting plenty of rest. Nothing strenuous for a few days at least.

Tilly do you think you will test early? I have everything crossed for you.

Euro I hope you arrived safe and sound.

And how is our exotic Keep? How are you feeling all the way over there? I look forward to getting your update on my way to work tomorrow.

Night girls.

Shazza xxx

Nokkie73 · 17/03/2013 22:40

Oh god shazza you are bloody brilliant. X

EuroShaggleton · 18/03/2013 00:55

Evening ladies. I'm away now and a bit spaced out (jet lag). Luckily the bleeding pretty much held off for the duration of the flight (but now seems to have restarted). I'm quite grateful for that. I was less grateful for the child sitting behind me who coughed throughout the entire journey. Can't have been nice for her (it certainly wasn't for me). I could have killed her bloody parents who slept through the entire flight rather than making sure she was ok for drinks, etc. The stewardesses could have been more attentive to her too. Meh.

shazz flying is supposed to be fine you know, but I understand you wanting to be cautious. I was supposed to do 4 work flights in the first tri and another 2 just after. I'd taken the decision not to worry about it when it was taken out of my hands. The only thing that I was a bit bothered about was the "naked scanners" in use at some airports. Frankly I was never keen and planned to request a manual search instead if I was selected. There aren't that many of them in Europe but I always seem to end up getting put through them at US airports.

I was as horny as hell during the 2ww and for a while after the BFP. My hormones were absolutely raging. We only actually did it once between ET and things starting to go wrong but that was because I was tired or we had houseguests rather than because we were avoiding it. That one time was mind-blowingly amazing. I think it was all the hormones, plus the pleasure of not having a ttc timetable for the first time in more than 2 years!

I remember really hesitating before graduating to Pregnancare rather than the conception version. It felt like a momentous moment (the content isn't that different, btw - I checked).

Excellent news noks. I hope you get something for the freezer too. I wouldn't be too worried about the picture. I did get one but tbh it looks a bit like the photocopier went wrong and blobbed toner all over the page.

chocco I hope you are developing a lovely pishstick gallery. :)

keepitgoing · 18/03/2013 04:20

Oh god, all this chat!! Part of me wants to just BE NORMAL and have a normal pregnancy without crazy mentalling, if it ever happens. But I know I won't. I'm just on pregnacare pre-conception now, as was on offer.

Last night the 'up front' bum bullet seemed to come out even more than normal, so I cried, fretted, and shoved another one up there, having read some people have 3x a day anyway. Was that bad?

I got a picture of the blasto, which is quite good, and one of the u/s, which is as euro says, though I am getting quite good as reading u/s now... Also, am not sure I wanted to know the grade, as ours are all only 'fair'... :(

I am now 10dpEC. I fear I have lost my mind.

choco hope the lines progress nicely :) shaz stay away, save your money for extortionate train fares, you have hcg in the 000s, sticks will tell you nothing.

Ooh noks well done on your two, I'm kind of wishing we'd put two in now, hey ho. Fx for some frosties.

Tilly good luck for your last day x

Shazzamattazzerly · 18/03/2013 07:58

Morning ladies

keep I know. Oh to be normal. My bro and SIL are expecting their 2nd and my bro has been asking me all about being TTC and the tests I've been having. He barely knew the basics bless him. They did 'it' her AF was late, she POAS and it was positive. Job done. He couldn't understand why I've done 7 tests and why I needed a blood test just to feel confident that I'm pg and that's not even starting on the worrying about all if the below. But hey, this is how it is for us and at least we are not alone.

Re bringing in extra reinforcements in the bum bullet department I think it was Honty who used an extra one at some point. I can't remember why. But I think that it is probably the waxy carrier that comes out and not the medicine. But check with the clinic if you are unsure.

Euro I'm glad you arrived safe and sound. I'm sorry you are still bleeding. How long do you think it will last? It must be awful. I hope it is over soon. I really don't know what to do for the best re flying. We are desperate to have a nice break but if it's not absolutely necessary part of me thinks that I shouldn't do it then. I don't know about naked scanners what are they?

Noks how are you feeling today? Have you taken to your bed?

Tilly and choco all ok with you? Tilly not long to go now.

Hi to all lurkers!

I had a terrible nights sleep. Really awful tossing and turning all night. I'm so so tired now and don't want to go to work. Is 5+3 too early to start my maternity leave Smile

Have a lovely day. Xxx

Karbea · 18/03/2013 08:06

Hello,

euro funny you say you think it's your younger drinking etc taking revenge now, I left my first husband and I have on many occasion (totally stupid) thought all of this was 'gods' revenge :(

Noks good luck with the 2ww, the worst bit by far I reckon.

Regarding bum bullets, they are much messier in the front, I think they advise the bottom as you get more of the drug that way, as more is lost in the front. I have a feeling they are used for something else apart from ivf, but I can't remember what. I hated doing those, it was only until I had the muscular bum injections that I realised that they weren't so bad.

keepingitgoing I think I'll probably be on the lp, but as its a year since my last cycle I'll need to do another monitoring cycle, so would need a blood test on day 1, I'm hoping day 2 (today) will be ok...

Shazzamattazzerly · 18/03/2013 08:33

Good luck karbea with your appt today.

Xx.

Ps don't punish yourself. None of this is your fault. Xx

Nokkie73 · 18/03/2013 08:57

Well if you want barking mad, come round to Noks Towers. I stretched a few times during the night and am now convinced I've hurt the embies.

Don't worry...I'll have myself sectioned under the mental health act. I had no idea ths whole process could make you that mad.

I am going to take a shower now. Before the men in white coats come to throw me in the back of the sunshine bus.

Shazzamattazzerly · 18/03/2013 09:53

Noks I stretch out of the waistband of my jeans all the time (they are too tight when I sit down) and I panic every time. You'll be fine. The embies are probably looking for a suitable place to make a nice den as we speak.

Having got used to my pregnancy naps this weekend I'm wondering if anyone will notice if I just rest my head on my keyboard just for a second.... x

keepitgoing · 18/03/2013 09:55

Make sure you don't wash them away noks! :) I am the same re stretching.

My clinic says to think of it like a jam sandwich, with the emby just one raspberry seed in the middle, and will not fall out!...

Good luck karbea

Nokkie73 · 18/03/2013 10:35

keeps a great bit of advice. Thanks. Makes total sense. I have asked the sunshine bus to go round the block a few times as I am now not as mad as I was when I woke-up. Stop pulling that face you lot. Grin

SHAZZA wake-up ! What if we have another vitamin or nutrition-based query/panic ? You cannot fall asleep on the job Wink . Your mums net thread needs you !

karbea are you going to ring the clinic today to get a plan of action ? Good luck. Xx

euro sorry to hear the flight was a nightmare. Parents can be bloody funny on planes. I sat near a couple with a little girl on a plane once and the bloke proceeded to down miniature after miniature of whiskey and ignore his wife (who was preggers) and child for the whole flight. All the child wanted was a bit of attention from him and all he wanted to do was sit there and get pissed. Disgusting. Anyway, rant over. Are you planning to buy a nice frock to go with the gold shoes ? Xx

Hello to everyone else. Going to acupuncture and to source some yams (which in Surrey may be a challenge) shortly. Wondering if i should go to the cinema to see Lincoln ? X

Karbea · 18/03/2013 11:14

Nokkie yes I just called them and the nurse said if the doc thinks I need bloods today I could have them, although I always think the nurses are a bit vague and just trying to get rid of you on the phone.

Is anyone else using the ARGC?

Shazzamattazzerly · 18/03/2013 11:15

What.... Hmm... Very sleepy....zzzzzx

Apparently Lincoln is bore yr tits off dull. But I haven't seen it. It's long might be a challenge if you need many wees.

Enjoy yarn hunting, one of my favourite passtimes. The liberty or john lewis haberdashery depts make me weep with glee Grin

Xx
