We've run out of room on Karbea's Jan IVF thread and it is too much fun to stop! We're all getting into comfy clothes and enjoying the side effects and surprises (and occasionally some hand holding).

Thanks everyone!

Yes Shazza, I've just been at home twiddling my thumbs waiting for my test or my innards to fall out of me - whichever is the sooner.

I went back to work on Mon and Tues of this week but felt so rotten I'm spending the rest of the week at home, sleeping for England.

I'm also waiting to hear whether they managed to freeze any of our spare blastocysts - they said they would write to us to let us know which surprised me actually as I thought they'd just give us a ring to update us.

It's nice to see what's going on with other people at this moment in time - so far I've only managed to find ancient american forums which I can't really relate to.

Shazzamattazzerly · 14/03/2013 11:52

Writing a letter seems terribly old fashioned and slow for something that changes almost by the hour. Maybe they did that for ivf in the 1800s but you would think that they would use that new fangled gadget the telephone nowadays!

TillyToffee · 14/03/2013 12:04

Searches for some change to tip the Telegram Boy

Dildals · 14/03/2013 12:09

euro I did look at the Harmony test as well but that one doesn't work for twins (although I am going to give FMC a call to double check - what a fab test btw). We want to be as prepared as possible as well - and tbh not sure whether we would continue, although I realise that is a controversial statement. I just wanted to check whether we are being overly cautious with getting a private scan on top of NHS. The private scan also checks a lot more markers than the NHS one. Seems like a sensible thing to do. You do hear that NHS gives really bad odds, then people go to FMC and they come back with much better odds, because FMC looked at lots of other bits n pieces.

toffee a LETTER? Give 'm a call!

EuroShaggleton · 14/03/2013 12:28

Ah, yes, I had forgotten that the Harmony test is not any good where there are twins.

Tilly that is utter madness. I think these ladies are awesome, but I also lurked on the IVF pages on fertility friends when I was cycling - there is a thread for each month there, so you can find other folks at the same stage.

Dildals · 14/03/2013 13:17

euro you have been CHEATING on us?! I feel hurt ... ;-)

EuroShaggleton · 14/03/2013 13:52

I'm sorry you had to find out this way. It's not you, it's me.

Shazzamattazzerly · 14/03/2013 14:31

Girls that made me laugh out loud. Euro you've been busted Smile I'm glad you are coming out to play. When are you back from your work trips? We won't meet without you. How are you feeling today?

I'm now all of a tizzy about a whole load of new things to worry about. Harmony? FMC? Eek! I guess I'd better just find out if the shazlett is still hanging on in there first then I'll graduate onto larger, more complex worries.

I've just told my manager cause I didnt want to lie about knocking off early and he was great. Really excited and said that he can't wait for us to have our first team baby. I'm really lucky. They are so supportive and he said I only have to ask if I need anything. So that's nice.

Waiting for bus to Guys now. Is it unacceptable to poke/prod/squeeze my breasts in the street? I'm addicted to frantically searching for symptoms to alleviate the anxiety. Wink

Nokkie73 · 14/03/2013 14:36

You lot are making me LARF.

Euro you fertility philanderer. You can come back in but you're sleeping in the spare room for now. Grin . I had no idea about the natural ivf thingy - thanks for the explanation. How are you today ? Are you still going on your trip this weekend ?

tilly welcome honey pie. Pull up a chair and make yourself comfy. This lot are bloody awesome so you've come to the right place. We also swear a lot (well I do) so you need to show us (well me) what your swearing skills are like. How many embies do you think you have to freeze ? Are you in London ? I would also give the hospital a ring - FFs, who sends letters nowadays !

dildals your dh's comment made me giggle.

shazza you'll be in there now love. Good luck. Fingers and toes crossed for you.

keeps hello gorgeous. You ok ?

Afm, am back after EC. They got four eggs which, all things considered, I'm pleased about. Straight to ivf because dh's man juice is SMOKIN'. Will get the call tomorrow morning to see how many have fertilised. I had a mad dream last night that I had six girls and one of them, just before I breast fed her for the first time, turned into a boy. I know, work that one out. Anyway, true to form, I had a dream about Justin timberlake when I was under today and babbled to the nurse about it the minute I came round. I don't even like Justin Trousersnake so I felt quite cross that he was in my mind, mincing all over the place when they were rummaging about my innards trying to retrieve my eggs.

So, am home, having stuffed my daily nuts (leave it, you lot) and watching daytime tv, which will mean in about ten minutes 'll want to go on a murderous rampage because it fecking rubbish.

Love to you all on this bright sunny day.

Noks xx

Dildals · 14/03/2013 14:37

shazza you can covertly squeeze your boobs by crossing your upper arm over one of them - i have perfected this move.

euro damn right it's you! ;-)

Nokkie73 · 14/03/2013 14:41

shazza give the bristols a good ole poke and prod love. If you pop a cup in front of you, you may be able to make a few quid on the way to the hospital.

Dildals · 14/03/2013 14:47

Noks Good going on the EC! I could tell you lots of things about DH's internet based hobby (I knew what I got myself in to when I married him) that would make you laugh, but better to give the tummy muscles of a lady who's just come out of surgery a bit of rest!

fairypangolin · 14/03/2013 14:47

dildals my clinic has me on the candles until week 14! Seems like overkill to me but I will stick with it. I am considering a private scan too because I haven't got my NHS appt yet and it probably won't be until week 13 like yours. Although I do gave pretty definite symptoms I still won't be able to relax totally without another scan.

shazza good luck on your blood test and it is too early for you to have symptoms!

OP posts:
EuroShaggleton · 14/03/2013 14:48

Dildals I was about suggest that!

Noks 4 eggs is brilliant. Tell Mr Noks if it was smoking, he was probably rubbing it too hard and he should be careful he doesn't cause friction burns. Wink

shazz I'm flying back on the 25th, so around from the 26th. That's a short week though, due to Easter, as is the following one.

I think my only symptom at 4 and a bit weeks was the start of insomnia, and I didn't realise that was a symptom until I saw some other women on the AN thread experiencing the same.

I'm doing ok. My boobs are finally fully unhurty for the first time in weeks. I'm actually pleased about this because it means everything is moving in the right direction. I'm in a lot less pain than yesterday and the bleeding has slowed. I'm not entirely sure, but I think I passed the sac first thing this morning, so that would fit with the pain and bleeding easing off. I'll be astonished if that is the worst over and keep waiting for a relapse, but so far, so good. Mr Euro is calling the clinic today to line up an appointment to discuss our next cycle. Onwards and upwards.

Shazzamattazzerly · 14/03/2013 15:01

Oh my goodness I was crying with laughter on the bus and trying to stifle it. I think I will practice the boob manoeuvre at home before I test it out in public but good thought about making some money. I need to save for shazlett's uni fund.

Noks I'm impressed You are in such comedy spirits given that you have been internally pierced many times. Absolutely hilarious about JT fantasy whilst under. Between you with trousersnake and dildals swimming goggles the guys anaesthetists must have a right old laugh. Who knew it was such a rewarding job?!

4 eggs is great. Well done. Fingers crossed that they are all ok. And fair play to mr Noks. Strong like bull Grin rest up sweetie

I'm at guys now. More news later.

Love.
Sx

Nokkie73 · 14/03/2013 15:14

dildals save it for when we meet then. You can tell us the funniest story whilst demonstrating how to touch your boobies with one arm across your chest. I was going to book a stripper but reckon you'll be much better entertainment with that routine !

euro cheers darlin. Where are you going ? Will you be leaving us for long ? Mr Noks was gone for about two minutes for his, ahem, shake with the one-eyed milkman. He came bounding back into the cubicle shouting 'I done it, I done it' and then proceeded to tell me that the porn in there was shit so he took his own. He THEN pulled a folded-up picture from his pocket, at which point I hit him with my magazine and told him to shut the feck up. I do love him but he's a bloody nightmare sometimes. Today's performance is up there with the time he got popcorn at the IMAX which cost a fiver and, stunned at the price, said to the girl on the counter 'at least Dick Turpin wore a mask when he robbed people'. Northerners, don't cha just love them.

EuroShaggleton · 14/03/2013 15:21

noks he sounds brilliant. Mr Euro had to do his contribution while I was having my eggs collected, so I missed all that. Did you make some remark about speed not always being a virtue? Wink

I'm off to the US next week. I was supposed to be in Turkey this week, but I cancelled it, telling the boss why, and was hoping the worst would be over by the weekend when I have to fly out.

Good luck shazz.

Nokkie73 · 14/03/2013 15:26

euro good - you can keep in touch then when you're away.

shazza good luck sweetie.

Shazzamattazzerly · 14/03/2013 15:51

Bloody brilliant Noks. God bless mr N. was he a boy scout? I love his attention to being prepared.

I bloody love Guys. Although i felt abit of a fraud walking through the door. The nicest, smiliest, happiest and possibly youngest nurse in the world has just taken my blood and I didn't feel a thing. And I hate needles and usually have a bit of a moment when I'm near one. Anyway she was massively enthusiastic with her congratulations and reassurance. She said that she had heard about people like me but never met one and it was a miracle. Honestly I wanted to take her home so that she can be nice to me and reassure me every day. She said its completely normal not to have any symptoms at this stage and not to worry. And she was wearing a uniform so she must be right. I will get the results tomorrow and she said then we can make another appt for me to go back so that they can keep an eye that it's all rising as it should. Fingers crossed.

So that's it for today at least. Before I went in I thought I had more cramps but it turned out to be only an anxiety poo. Shame! I have had preggers head today tho at work I used a colleagues fancy spreadsheet as a template and then SAVED OVER it! School girl error. I felt like a right muppet and I never do that normally. I'm hoping it's a symptom

Xx

Shazzamattazzerly · 14/03/2013 15:58

Sorry euro and fairy just seen your posts.

Euro im glad you are feeling more comfortable and looking to the future.

Thanks for the reassurance fairy.

Insomnia eh? Shazlett and I have been wide awake ridiculously early this week. I'm loving the random symptoms. More straws to clutch at. Silly me I've been concentrating so hard on the boobies that I've missed the subtle things.

Xx

Nokkie73 · 14/03/2013 16:12

shazza wonderful ! I kept refreshing this thread as was getting worried stalker alert Grin

Dildals · 14/03/2013 16:12

God, I just called the Fetal Medicine Centre for a nuchal scan, £230 for twins - it starts already ... I have booked it in for the 5th of April 13.30, a Friday, hopefully can go celebrating afterwards. Unfortunately not possible to get it any sooner. GRR. I guess it's fair enough they charge more for twinnos because they need to check the both of them, she's booked me in for 2 slots.

I found out at the FMC that I had a blighted ovum, and I now I am afraid that I will have bad luck again there, but they are really well regarded ... I am being silly aren't I?

Did I ever tell you that I pondered for about 20 mins which pants to wear to my 7wk scan in case I happened to pick unlucky pants? Dammit I should have remembered which pants I wore that day!!!

Shazzamattazzerly · 14/03/2013 16:24

Hi dildals

Good news re scan. It's all so expensive isn't it? I've never even heard of FMC. Will google it instantly. Funny about the pants. It sounds like everything is going to plan with the twinnies so I hope that it will be good news.

Lovely nurse said that they can't do earlier than 7 week scan for me cause there's nothing to see yet. Nothing to see, nothing to feel how much money does a girl have to spend on POASs to reassure herself that she is pg? Another school girl error. I actually bought my supply from a shop not the Internet. duh!

Thanks Noks. I'll feel alot better after the results tomorrow. How are you feeling now? Sore? In true Karbea style, what are you going to have for dinner? I hope old Speedy Gonzales is going to cook you a slap up dinner for being such a brave and clever girl.

X

TillyToffee · 14/03/2013 19:58

Thanks Nokkie Smile no I'm not in London, we are at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine in Coventry. I am partial to a spot of blue language here and there too!

I feel like I haven't done as much homework on all of this IVF lark as much as other people; I can't remember how many follicles I had but the upshot is we had 4 eggs and all fertilised. We had one popped back in and was hoping we could freeze one.

I've got endometriosis and my Left Ovary is neither use nor ornament - it's got an endo cyst growing in it so all our eggs came from my Right Ovary. I'm not disheartened though; I was born on one ovary (albeit not through IVF) so one's all I need Smile

All this talk of extra tests is all a bit new and scary - I'll have to find out if they do them near me if/when the time comes.

TillyToffee · 14/03/2013 19:59

Shazza - meant to ask, what did the nurse mean 'people like you'?
