We've run out of room on Karbea's Jan IVF thread and it is too much fun to stop! We're all getting into comfy clothes and enjoying the side effects and surprises (and occasionally some hand holding).

Hello!!!!

Great to see you all still going!

I'm finally going back to the argc on Monday, so hopefully I'll be starting soon. So I'm really going to try and concentrate on my diet and taking the vitamins, but I'll need some encouragement (if you'll have me back???) as I've no staying power :(

So this morning I've had my inositol, maca, omega 3 fish oil, chlorella/spirulina, royal jelly, zita west vitafem and vitafem boost and propolis in a glass of water.
For brekkie I had two boiled eggs and some oat cakes and a cup of roobos. So I'm doing ok so far, feeling a bit peckish so need a healthy snack, any recommendations?

Karbea · 13/03/2013 11:15

Scarlett I've missed most of your journey. But so sorry to hear your news. Wait and see what the consultant says and then think of a plan forward. This time is the last for DH and I, but I'm not going to give up, I m going to keep going if we sent successful, just try other diet/lifestyle things. There is always a way forward.

keepitgoing · 13/03/2013 11:19

Hi karbea! Good luck for Monday! How about peanuts and raisins? Hummus and veggie sticks? Peanuts are good protein, for the eggs...

Karbea · 13/03/2013 11:25

I've run out of hummus so will need to pop to the shops, I think I'm actually thirsty I'm one of those people who get hunger and thirst mixed up and always eat. Anyway, having a drink then will wait 20mins, if I'm still hungry I'll have some nuts :)

What are you having for lunch? (I'm obsessed by food :( )

keepitgoing · 13/03/2013 12:17

It's dinnertime here. Had tuna pasta leftovers for lunch, and fresh pineapple. Street food take out for dinner. Bangkok has the best food in the world!!

Shazzamattazzerly · 13/03/2013 14:21

Hi karbea

Lovely to have you back! I've been eating hummous like there is going to be a shortage and I had to stock up. I am not eating dairy so have used pulses as a protein source. Can highly recommend making it. Easy peasy and less garlicky! Ive just had quinoa, veg, hummous and oatcakes for lunch quinoa also good protein. Ive also been eating half an avocado a day cause i read that it was good for fertility Good luck with the new cycle. Don't worry we have become experts in support in your absence. You will be looked after here. Smile

AFM I've just had abit of a teary call with Guys after I left them THREE messages since 11.30 yesterday asking if someone could please call me. After all I'm still taking the drugs that they prescribed and I feel that I need to be reassured by them that the down reg drugs haven't affected me adversely for this pg. anyway after a bit of tooing and froing they said to go in for a blood test tomorrow aftie between 2-4pm. Actually Noks what time is your EC tomorrow? Maybe I'll see you?

Scarlett how was your appt honey?

Euro you ok?

Love shaz xx

Shazzamattazzerly · 13/03/2013 14:22

Oh and keep how are you feeling after this morning? Did you find the video link that euro mentioned? Xx

ScarlettInSpace · 13/03/2013 18:11

Hi everyone, thanks for your nice messages x

Well it seems there is a chance that the high doses of drugs I've been on could be responsible for the abnormalities.

Egg donation was raised as the best solution as I definitely have diminished ovarian reserve but the consultant was happy to dismiss this at this stage as she feels we do still have options [phew]

She said if we decide to pay for further IVF cycles she would advise either Natural or very Mild as clearly the drugs don't agree with me.

OHs SA was very good, she feels that we should try mild stim IUI as we are eligible for 3 funded cycles. As my R tube is absent, this may take place over the next 6 months as we will abandon on cycles when the R ovary dominates.

We also discussed lifestyle, diet etc so I'm going to be doing some serious princessing over the next few months... Also going to give DHEA a try, obvs she can't recommend as its not available in the UK but she said she wouldn't discourage me from using it and if I was going to then she would suggest a dose level of 75mg.,.

So all in all it's not game over and I'm sorry for my voice of doom yesterday, it really felt like a deal breaker yesterday but perhaps not. Not sure if I'm going to hang around or take a break from MN for a while though.

Nokkie73 · 13/03/2013 20:07

Evening all

scarlett I am really really pleased that you still have options. It's really hard with all this to keep a cool head as we rely so much on the professionals to guide us. I think you're doing the right thing by princessing over the coming months and getting yourself in tip top condition for another go. That said, allow yourself a bit of time to do all the normal things you've missed out on recently. I really wish you the best of luck. Pop back from time to time to let us all know how you're getting on if you do decide to give MN a rest for a bit. Hopefully we will decide to meet soon so would be lovely to see you if you wanted to come. Nxx

shazza I'll be at guys tomorrow at 9am for a 10am EC and should be done for 12/12.30ish so we'll miss each other unfortunately. I don't mind what we do so any suggestions about where will be good. Central London presumably ? I work in town so can do an evening but am equally happy to do a Saturday posh tea (with champers for those who say fuck it, I want a drink !). Lets throw it open to the group......! Hope it all goes well at the ACU tomorrow Hun. Let us know how you get on. Xx

keep who's a clever girl then !! Well bloody done lass, am so pleased for you. We obviously expect you to pop on a flight for out meet-up so get saving ! Oh, and be a love and get us some pad Thai noodles while you're out. Ta. Xx

euro I second the sentiment that you're being incredibly brave and calm here. I only re-read my original post and thought it was a bit abrupt and didn't want to cause offence. I'll stop grovelling now as my knees hurt and it's a bit undignified ! If you're still cursing like a sailor, you can come to the same swearing dependency group as me if you like. They're a proper bunch of funny fuckers, I shit you not. Yep, I still have a way to go with my progress there.....still, one fucking step at a time eh ? Xx

karbea zee mysterious laydee ! Hello there. Personally, I thought you were an urban myth.....I love your food obsession, which sounds very similar to mine. What did you have in the end Grin. How are you doing kiddo ? Xx

fairy and dildals howdy to you guys too. What are the next steps for you guys ? Are you waiting for scans and things ? Hope you're both ok.

Hi to everyone else lurking.

Afm, just waiting for EC now tomorrow at 10am. Yikes. Wish me luck.

Noks xx

Karbea · 13/03/2013 20:30

Scarlett I think that all sounds really really good.

Nok I'm real ;) and yes obsess about food, but eat rubbish, cheese on toast for lunch 20,000 biscuits during the afternoon, and fish and chips for tea :( but I've had loads of vitamins :/
Good lunch for tomorrow! How many follicles do you have?

EuroShaggleton · 13/03/2013 20:31

Bangkok street food sounds great, keep. Mr euro has been working late and I wasn't up to cooking, so it's Brit street food for us tonight - fish and chips.

scarlett it sounds like there is cause for optimism. I've heard that natural is supposed to be good where there is a lowish ovarian reserve. Interesting that after having a similar experience to me downregging, you might end up on the natural IVF route. I've heard good things about DHEA too.

Welcome back karbea.

Good luck for EC tomorrow, Nok. Your post about the sweary group made me laugh!

shazz I'm on the 10+ thread (have been for getting on for 2 years now - it started as a 6+ thread and grew with us) and they are lovely ladies. The AN thread is a bit thinly populated, but they are very welcoming over there. It might be a good way to ease yourself into AN.

I was doing ok, but I'm having a bit of a relapse on the pain front. I've just necked some more drugs. I've lost a daft amount of blood and stuff today. Yuk. Steak and green veg for dinner tomorrow to try to up my iron levels!

chocoloco1 · 13/03/2013 21:06

Hello lovely ladies, I've missed you!

noks egg collection tomorrow, wow! Can't believe this time 2 weeks ago I was in the same position as you. Hope it goes really well.

scarlett really, really sorry to read about your crap news, but glad that it sounds like there are other options available to you apart from DE.

euro as others have said, you sound like you're being really brave. The pain sounds horrendous, but hopefully the worst of it will be over quite soon. Thinking of you.

keep fab news about the blast, welcome to the fabulous torturous 2ww

shazza loving the name shazlett. Has your cramping settled down now? Glad you have pinned them down for a blood test. How long will you have to wait for results?

karbea you're the legend who created this thread. It's bloody brilliant and has really helped me.

Hello to fairy, dildals, northey, hont , delilah and vallinna and anyone else I've forgotten

Well, afm, nothing to report really. Been busy with work as I'd only been back a day when those lovely school inspector people ofsted decided to pay a visit.
Not feeling very confident at all about getting a positive test result and hoping I get to OTD on Friday, at least. Freaking out that I am going to wake up tomorrow and be bleeding like before (but shouldn't as am on bum-bruising injections gestone ) I'm not really ready to get my head around that happening or having a bfn yet. Woe is me!

Nokkie73 · 13/03/2013 21:07

karbea I had seven follies resting, eight at the first scan (day 8 of stimms) and 11 on day 11 of stimms (which was on monday) though not all were at the 20mm stage (about 3 were). I'm hoping the others will catch-up.

euro do you mind me asking what natural ivf is ?

Karbea · 13/03/2013 21:16

Choco it all goes so quickly at the end, but you must stay positive, I hated the bum injections, something to look fwd to!

Noks I'm sure they will be, bet they're happily growing right now ;)

I hope you're all not done before I even start!

Nokkie73 · 13/03/2013 21:37

Chin-up choco . My best mate is a teacher so I know some of the pain of unannounced Ofsted visits the jack booting krypto fascists . Don't let them get you down !

Shazzamattazzerly · 13/03/2013 22:02

Evening ladies

I was about to post a moment ago and then realised I'd forgotten my fanny candle, all sorted now!

Scarlett that sounds great honey. I'm glad you are feeling more optimistic and you got some info. Good luck with the Princessing. I found it helped to feel that I was doing something positive to feel healthy and well. I wish you all the luck in the world. It would be lovely to see you if you wanted to meet up or pop back in here to say hello.

Noks good luck for tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you at 10 and willing some lovely kwalitee eggs to pop out. I also work in central London but am equally happy to travel. Will obv have to bring shazlett but she's pretty quiet at the mo so wont be a bother.

Keep how is your blast doing? I hope you are having a nice rest. I'm in on the pad Thai please. Not too spicy Smile

Karbea good to have you back on board. Cracked me up when you said 'good lunch' to Noks. You really have got food on the brain!

Euro you are so brave. Step up the spinach tomorrow. Make you big and strong. Thanks for the AN tips. Thinly populated sounds good. I was overwhelmed by the number on the nov 13 thread today. Sorry to sound like a numpty but how do I find the 10+ grads? I tried to search but can only see 6+ grads. Is that the one you mean?

Choco glad you are hanging in there. Hopefully I will get the results quickly cause not much point having a test then waiting 2 weeks for results. I'll be nearly 7 wks by then and I need reassurance now. Remember I had a bfn day before AF due but hold out til OTD if poss. Only 2 sleeps to go.

Hello to everyone else.

I must do my shopping now and the nice man from sainsburys will deliver it to my door on fri eve. Now that's shopping I likeSmile

Night lovely ladies.

Shazza xx

keepitgoing · 14/03/2013 02:23

nok good luck for EC!! Make sure to take it easy afterwards. I was relieved to get those eggs out, I tell you... Natural ivf is what euro had, no stimming drugs, they just use your one natural egg, do EC etc.

Scarlett it sounds like a good plan for you, I'm so happy she gave you some options. Was that your one NHS go then, despite no ET?

I'm OK, thanks for asking. Physically fine other than theboobs, and I now have two pessaries a day instead of one, so expecting it to get worse. Am pleased the tww is only 9, now 8, days. I normally have an LP of 15/16 days which is forever!

choco are you going to test early? My duh wants us to wait for the blood test next Friday pm, but I can't stand the thought of being there if told it's negative, and we then have a meeting with the doctor right away and I wouldn't want to be a mess if having to talk about future treatment plans.

Good luck with the blood test shaz. I would assume same day results.

keepitgoing · 14/03/2013 02:25

Dh, not duh... But in this I think he's being d'oh! :)

TillyToffee · 14/03/2013 10:25

Hi everyone, I was wondering if I could join your thread? I am in the middle of my 2ww on my first IVF (with ICSI) cycle and am feeling a bit lonely bored with the waiting and don't have any friends that have been through this Smile

EuroShaggleton · 14/03/2013 10:54

OMG. I just wrote the longest post ever. Took me about 20 mins. And then lost it.

Apparently there's a little button on the side of the mouse that takes you back a page. I had no idea it was there. And just accidentally clicked it as I tried to post.

Anyway, the short version was: welcome Tilly, good luck for EC, noks, shazz the 6+ grads thread relates to the 10+ers on conception (which started as 6+ but grew with us for a while).

Natural IVF is IVF with next to no drugs - no downregging, no stimms. Just a trigger shot to time EC and bum bullets. They use the one egg you produce naturally. It works for us because I had an appalling time downregging, to the extent that we took the decision to quit the cycle before we even started stimming. And to our astonishment, despite a fairly low success rate (27%, as there is only one egg so if that doesn't fertilise, it's game over) it worked for us first time. We will be going again as soon as we can.

Dildals · 14/03/2013 11:09

Welcome tillytoffee I found this thread so incredibly useful!

Momentous occasion today ladies! I have called time on my unhealthy dependency on the bullets! I forgot the one last morning and then I decided to not take the evening one (I only have 5 left or so). The babies haven't dropped out yet so must be OK. (TMI alert - will you believe that pessary gunk is STILL coming out? How much candle wax have I got stored up there? Will the twins come out with bullets on their heads?)

Next week Saturday I have my booking appt and then on the 8th of April I have my 12 wk scan (13 wk more like it). Could they have put it ANY F-ING later?! How the hell am I supposed to wait for so long. If I was throwing up all over the show and showing a bump I might be OK with that. But I am not. AAAHHH. The waiting is killing me!

DH and me have the week of before Easter and I may book myself in for a private scan, probably not a bad idea anyway to have the nuchal scan thing done properly given my Advanced Age.

shazza noks I am still up for meeting. I work near Waterloo so Central London is good for me, but I am flexible.

EuroShaggleton · 14/03/2013 11:15

I'd also be up for a London meet.

Dildals I don't blame you wanting a private scan. I think I would too. How many weeks were you on the bum bullets for? I know clinics differ on this (like so many other things).

Dildals · 14/03/2013 11:23

euro The nurse wasn't that fussed as to how long I was going to carry on with the bullets. She asked how many I still had, I said 'about a week's supply' she thought that was OK. And that is now 2 weeks ago. I am 9 weeks + a couple of days now, so I think we have done enough shoving n pushing of christmas candles.

I think it was time to quit as well, although DH (again, TMI alert, I love a bit of TMI) normally is not phased by a bit of gunk he was starting to get more and more 'internet based' as he called it. My DH, he's so classy.

I have also started taken low dose aspirin. After extensive internet research I have decided it's safe (I think) and I don't want to be caught out by some clot blocking blood flow in placenta.

Would you have a private scan because it would be sooner or because it would give you more comfort on Downs etc?

Shazzamattazzerly · 14/03/2013 11:28

Hello ladies

Welcome Tilly. It's great here. You are more than welcome to hang out with us. Have you got through the cycle on your own? Well done if so. I couldn't have done it without these girls.

Dildals so exciting about the bullets and the impending scan. I'm now concerned that I dont have much leakage. I havent found them too bad and I'm using the front door great re meeting up. Maybe the southbank would be a good place?

Euro that happens to me loads but I use the iPhone app and sometimes posts disappear and sometimes they post twice. Ive taken to copying a post just in case so i can paste it if it disappears. How are you today? Ive been thinking of you loads. Thanks for the clarity if all is ok today I might tentatively join in.

Keep how's your blast doing? You feeling ok?

Noks looking forward to your news. You'll be coming round now. Fingers crossed.

Hello to everyone else!

I'm mentalling like crazy about my blood test this afternoon. I don't feel ANYTHING. Not a jot. What is going on in there? Blimey this whole thing is crazy making isn't it?

More later. Have a good day all.

Love shazza xxx

EuroShaggleton · 14/03/2013 11:45

shaz I was actually in the process of copying, just before posting. I always do that with long posts, just in case MN goes offline. I just hit this mouse button I didn't even know was there while I was doing it. Grrrr.

The 10+ers had a meet last year and chose the southbank. There are loads of options there.

dildals I would want the early scan for reassurance I think. I'd also consider the Harmony test for chromosomal problems. After all we had been through, I am sure we would still want to continue, but would also want to be prepared.
