A very friendly and supportive thread for those taking way longer than they had ever expected to make a baby.

OP posts:
TheMidnightHour · 26/02/2013 13:53

joy I am sending you best wishes & thoughts - and virtual chocolate, if you like it. Swiss is best ;)

Thank you for the information about stress from several people - I remember seeing from art, doll and pout maybe others too. My cycles have been regular, hopefully OPKs will tell me if I'm ovulating.

doll what, you don't have academic conversations with no pants on? why not? at least you know you have their full attention ;)

critter Been a while since I had a Jilly Cooper phase! Have you tried Courtney Milan? Historical romance, not in the usual vein, 49p on Kindle, very good.

AF is due in a couple days and it's already making itself felt so I'm confident it'll arrive - I've learned a lot about 'a woman's natural cycle' since starting TTC and I don't like any of it. Really miss contraception for that side of things. Still, am less down about it than usual as OPKs have arrived and it's like having a new toy to try.

Hope everyone has a good week.

CritterPants · 26/02/2013 13:56

joy I'm so desperately sorry. Sad I wish you and Roy lots of strength to get through this. I wish I could say something to make it better.

sea I am so sorry to hear the news about your friend - how awful.

euro I'm hoping that you can get some reassurance at your scan. I'm sure it is terrifying.

lemon glad you're on the mend.

EuroShaggleton · 26/02/2013 13:58

sea I am sorry to hear about your friend. Good luck for the upcoming IUI.

pout well-remembered - I do have IBS. Although as long as I stay away from dairy it is well-controlled now. This was defnitely in the womble area, not bowel. Whatever it was, it stopped at some point during the night.

Midnight despite having lived in Belgium for quite a while, I agree with you that Swiss is best. :)

CritterPants · 26/02/2013 13:58

midnight sorry you're feeling PMTish, and thanks for the tip about Courtney Milan - will look it up! My favourite historical romances are the fabulous Katherine by Anya Seton and Forever Amber. Total comfort reading heaven. Smile

akuabadoll · 26/02/2013 15:10

oh joy let me join the others with my sympathies, I'm so sorry for the news and the bluntness with which it was delivered.

nice to see you formerly I do hope you changed your mind and are getting your swan on. Just avoid the very last move that art mentioned ill advised when up the duff just a theory

free this last one could be the one and if not you are moving forward.

rabbit good luck with the scan tomorrow

sea hi, I was asking after you just the other day. Sorry to hear about your friend. Good luck for tomorrow even if your head is not with it. It doesn't need to be. Let the drs do their thing and you look after yourself.

midnight you need any tips for the OPKs? or you used them before? I agree with euro on the Belgium vers Swiss but I'm a passport holder and we have to agree to particular points of view

lovely to see you here critter gin and everyone else.

freedom2011 · 26/02/2013 18:05

seaview I am very sorry to hear about your friend. Thank you for your good wishes. I understand it is very hard to feel positive in your situation but I am really impressed with you carrying on and grabbing life and living it and going for your dreams. You post reminded me that it's short this life so I should try and be happy where possible. Maybe we'll be testing buddies in a couple of weeks then?

Thanks doll. How are you getting on? I am still quietly chanting for you and euros embies. euro hope you dont mind me saying, but I remember you from the TTC a 2012 baby (ha!) thread back in 2011 and your progress especially has given me hope so thanks for sticking around and fingers crossed for scan.

High five to slow growing critter I'd got to 23mm by the time we did the IUI this morning so it was ok in the end.

I also casually informed DH that total motility had gone from 40% lastime to 80 % this time. And he goes - huh, maybe you were right about laying off the beer, eating healthily and more exercise. Hmm

Time to make some vegetable curry.

sarlat · 26/02/2013 19:25

Sea -really sorry about your freind, how sad. But best of luck for iui tomorrow. I grow slowly on stimms and that didn't cause any problems with eggs.

Midnight -have fun with the opks. I agree its like a new toy.

Free - hooray for iui this morning. And great news about the motility, well done him.

Joy -still thinking of you both x

Rabbit -extra special good luck and positive vibes for your scan.

mrsden · 26/02/2013 20:54

Joy, I am so very sorry that you're going through this. I wish I could put into words how bad I feel for you, this should not happen to you and Roy. Life is cruel and unfair. I'm thinking of you x

sweetgrouch · 27/02/2013 02:00

Joy - I am sorry that this is how it all turned out. I can?t get over how unfair and awful it must be.
Sea - sorry about your friend.
Freedom - that?s amazing about the motility.
Critter - I finally googled critterpants. It gave me a good laugh. The PCOS would be a diagnosis I suppose, but I still have a few weeks before I meet with the doctor to hear my options. So I will keep busy doing activities I enjoy to distract me from mentalling and reading journal articles about PCOS.
Doll - your video was a nice distraction.
Midnight - goodluck with the opks. Mine work about 50% of the time.
Euro - I don?t know if you will stop worrying. But best of luck with the scan. Keep in mind most people where I am from don?t get their hcg levels or scans until 8 - 10 weeks along which means the levels are from a very narrow subset of individuals. Sorry I am going all scientist I must remember to quit doing that when not at work.

Hello and waves to everyone else! Also a big bite of the pudding chomeur I am cooking up.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 27/02/2013 09:03

So sorry about your friend seaview.

How are you doing today joy? I keep thinking about you. It is so hard and horrible!

You can be all sciency sweet. I enjoy that. Did I ever mention that SB build a whole spread sheet with data on unexplained pregnancy chances? (Filled by data I found for him). It seems logical to bring your work brain to bear on these pesky fertility issues.

Hurrah for massive improvement in straight swimming free. Let's hope they find the golden egg and do their magic. And did you tell DH told you so repeatedly?

How did the scan go rabbit? Fingers crossed it showed cystless shiny womble!

Passport holder doll? Swiss or Belgian? I am on the fence on the choc-debate. For slaps of chocolate post-skiing I vote for swiss, but dainty chocolates in a box to woo with I opt for fresh Belgians...

Good luck with OPKs if you need them midnight but it ain't over til...

How's the womble region now, euro? I felt a lot of pully sensation in there, while things were going well and nothing you could take note of when it didn't.

How is the stabbing queen of the moment pout? It will be at least two weeks before a new cycle pout, but we're off on hols in 3 weeks for 3 weeks, so that is the next two cycles out as well. We did have a quick let's-see-whether-we-can-fertilisie-my-hard-boiled-eggs round of sechs last night... SB enjoyed it, I discovered that like laughter it brings on impressive bouts of coughing. So definitely just with intent for me then...

Welcome formerly :)

EuroShaggleton · 27/02/2013 10:16

Sweet that's true here, but in the US a HCG blood test to confirm pregnancy is the norm, so there is a fair amount of data out there for that. I like that you bring a scientist's eye to the thread though - please don'e stop!

rabbit how was the scan?

Drizz it has all quietened down now - I have just had the two days of activity down there. One at 15dpEC, when I had a dull ache all day and some brown spotting, and then the odd pinching sensation a couple of days ago. I am 6 weeks today and willing time to pass before my scan tomorrow. How are you doing? Are you feeling better now?

free that is a great improvement. Unfortunately, save for the exercise, there was never much lifestyle-wise for Mr Euro to work on. Fingers crossed for a good IUI result. I remember you from that thread too. How long ago that seems...

Critter I have also finally googled "critter pants" Hmm is what I have to say to that!

pout how is DR going?

joy I am thinking of you. x

rabbitonthemoon · 27/02/2013 10:38

euro I am also willing it to be your scan day so I can only imagine how slowly things are going for you.

sweet science is good from my point if view. And lemon I want to see that spreadsheet!

joy you are in my thoughts, huge hug.

sea I am so so sorry to hear about your friend.

free great news. Im curious to know what an sa would bring up for us at the moment it's been ages since one was done.

It's my scan this afternoon. Bring on full bladder squeezing I do love it so.

Hope everyone is alright on this sunny day.

ThatWayMadnessLies · 27/02/2013 12:15

On phone and on quick lunch break but wanted to pop in to say

my condolences to sea. It definitely puts things in perspective when tragedies occur whether sudden or anticipated....

Good luck rabbit for the scan. i decree it shall all be fine!!

Will be back to chat properly tonight Smile.

akuabadoll · 27/02/2013 12:26

Just in to send my good wishes to those with things ahappening today sea with IUI and rabbit with scan, may it all be smooth. Also happy 6 weeks euro and have a great scan day tomorrow.

free I'm ok thanks for asking, third day of work missed due to Little Doll being off nursery which is not doing my professional life or sanity any good but it does mean lunchtime naps for both of us so there's a plus. lemon the answer on a postcard is Swiss.

Poutintrout · 27/02/2013 13:09

joy thinking of you today. I can't express how much I wish this wasn't happening and how much I would love it all to go away.

lemons Well done on the au naturel SWI. I am soooooo relieved that all that is being outsourced this cycle! Who knows it could be some good old fashioned bonking when sperm meets the golden egg!

doll Daytime naps feel so naughty but I love 'em too! Hope that Little Doll is better soon.

rabbits good luck on your scan this afternoon. I HATE the full bladder ones and spend the whole time worrying that I might wet myself on the table. I think because you are tense about holding onto your bladder it makes it all the more uncomfortable. Let us know how you get on.

sweetgrouch I second what Euro says about a scientific perspective being a good thing on here and not to stop.

freedom cheering you on after your IUI. Good news on MrFreedom's results. That is impressive. MrP still won't really have it that booze is a bad thing. He has a science background and therefore seems to think that this trumps what I read Hmm

midnight any sign of the witch yet? I so hope that she is a no show afterall!

euro Good luck with your scan tomorrow. I know it has felt like a looonnng wait for you but I can't believe that it is 6 weeks already!

Had an epic fail with my Gonal F last night. It was my first time using it, only 24 hours since my teaching session on how to use it and I managed to totally balls it up. For some reason (even though I knew it wasn't that kind of injection) I expected the needle to shoot out like a diabetes pen???????!! So I am stood there bracing myself for the jab and then realise that my slippers are getting wet and there are splashes on the kitchen floor. MrP had to remind me that you have to take the little green lid off the needle and stick it in and then press the button Grin I much prefer the old fashioned syringe and find it easier & less stingy.

Also ladies, did any of you get any weird reactions to the Gonal F? I woke up this morning to find that my wedding ring finger is puffy and has reacted to the gold. I have a ring shaped, itchy welt.

Hello to all you other lovely ladies.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 27/02/2013 14:46

Oh pout Grin at your description of the gonal-f fail. You make it sounds completely hilarious. How much did you waste? I have had no side effects on gonal (and many on menopur). I hope your swelling goes down. If not do phone the clinic. I really struggled on menopur but only admitted this on the second cycle on it and they sometimes can change the medication. But that means you're now stimming which is good process. Well done you!

You are from all over the world doll. And your children will be too. Sorry you're going mad at home with little doll. Is he still bad? I am thinking a midday nap would be wonderful. Sleep...

Good luck not peeing on anyone this afternoon rabbit. But why is it not a dildocam? That would be more sensible, wouldn't it? Anyway, I am sure it will all be fine!

Only 24 hours til the scan euro. I am crossing everything for you.

I am much better now, just got a hacking cough left. But nothing like a fever to make you appreciate its absence.

Poutintrout · 27/02/2013 16:10

lemons it was a whole dose Shock
Sorry about the cough. Is it keeping you awake at night?

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 27/02/2013 16:16

Oh no, pout. Thankfully you're not paying for this round.

The cough makes it harder to fall asleep, yes. But once I am out for the count, I sleep like a baby :) It bothers me more when I try to do something like talk, or laugh, or walk and talk... Oh well. Tomorrow I am having another proper work meeting. I hope I'll be capable of speech. I've been postponing a phone conversation for a week now, because even my mum has difficulty understanding me...

Poutintrout · 27/02/2013 16:18

Ladies I know I said I wasn't going to mention you know who again but I am a bit Hmm at the fact that t'other thread seem to think that she is some victim of our bullying & we somehow merely took umbrage to the use of the word cunt Hmm hmm] Hmm Without wishing to fan the flames have a gander. I am slightly very pissed off that somehow threatening pregnant ladies is acceptable on a TTC forum. Masquerading as the injured party really is getting my goat.

Not worth our breath pout. Or our ink. Or our typing. Focus on the task at hand no more spraying your slippers

buzzybee123 · 27/02/2013 17:23

thats what happens when you are irresistible Wink

sea so sorry to hear about your friend

lemon ooh it could be the cycle

rabbit hope it was ok today

euro i'm sure all will be great tomorrow for you

pout Grin at the gonal f, well you know now Wink I have to say I didn't have any side affects on it

OP posts:
ThatWayMadnessLies · 27/02/2013 19:50

Evening ladies,

I took a look pout. There have been some developments.... It's like a primary school soap opera around here....... Returning to your post from days ago, I totally get the feeling of wanting ivf but not necessarily wanting to get to the end if the end isn't good. It's really a confusing mix of emotions. I will be where you are in only a couple of weeks and that is exciting and terrifying in equal measure. I hope that you only have to do it once and that the end result is worth all of this xx

I hope it went well rabbit.

Thinking of you and Roy again today joy.

lemon I think a cough is the worst. I particularly hate it when I have to be somewhere that coughing would be a disruption to others (all day long in my job) and as soon as I feel like I shouldn't cough I inevitably start Blush

doll you get more intriguing by the day! Your scan must be soon as well. I know you left it a bit later than euro's clinic but only by a few days I thought?

Well I had a very busy day and am home enjoying MrM's leftovers from last night. Planning a big hill walk this weekend to continue our new resolutions to eat better and do more exercise together. Weekends often become about eating and drinking if we aren't suitably distracted Grin.

Big waves to the oodles of people that I have missed!

mrsden · 27/02/2013 20:34

You're doing amazingly well pout. Not much longer to go now.

Euro, I want to wish you luck for tomorrow, I'll be thinking about you.

Joy, I'm still thinking of you. I hope you're doing as well as can be expected. You are so strong and brave, I really admire you.

Midnight, I agree with you on the chocolate. I think stress only affects things if it stops you ovulating or it affects whether you can Dtd. Just relax and it will happen is what people who have no idea about fertility problems say when they don't know what else to say.

I'm sorry about your friend seaview.

I have sore boobs, normal post ovulation symptom for me. But I'm happy because this cycle has felt good and I had been worried that the lap might ave broken me but touch wood it all seems ok.

Waves to everyone.

MuddyWellyNelly · 28/02/2013 08:39

Joy :(. Oh no, I can't believe it. You are in my thoughts. What a truly horrible situation for you both.

Good luck today Euro. I hope it's reassuring.

Sea what sad news about your friend. Take it easy, hope the IUI was ok. Like someone said, you need to just turn up, the docs are the ones with a job to do. Well and Mr Sea!

Pout whoops on stab fail. I found the pen quite stiff so had to sort of brace it against my thumb as I squeezed. Not that it helps if you haven't taken the lid off though Wink.

Rabbit hope scan went ok? Do let us know, we worry you know.

Quick waves to everyone else. Saw a scan pic on fb yesterday but luckily I already knew about it. At this end have decided to wait another cycle before doing IVF again so just boringly having sex Hmm
