Hello ladies

I would like to start a thread/bus/merry-go-round to meet, get support and share with ladies in the same boat as me:

TTC baby no 1!

Will you join me and see it through to the BFP?!

A bit about me - I'm 29, DP is 35. This will be our first child.

Hi, can anyone give me some advice, I'm very new to this! I stopped my bcp on the 28th May, mid pack, bit foolish but there you go, had a withdrawal bleed for a couple of days immediately after, dh & I have been at it all month! I'm just wondering do I count back from the date of my last day of bleed 28 days to find out when my next period would likely have come, I know it might not turn up for months but since I've had a few early pg symptoms, I don't know if I ought to test anyway? I'm pretty sure the symptoms are pill withdrawal, but I'm still hopeful! Lol Grin

It really differs a lot when your cycle reestablishes itself. For some people they have their AF about a month after stopping the pill, for others, including me, it takes longer. I read somewhere if you took multiple strips in a row, it might take longer.

I guess just test 28 days after first day of withdrawal bleed, even though it might not be accurate it's all you have! Then perhaps test every week? Unless you have been able to identify time of ovulation, it would be two weeks after that.

Thanks for the reply, funnily enough I've had cramping in one side today & without meaning to be tmi, something has come out that I've never had before & by googling I think it means I'm ovulating or about too! So ill count 2 weeks from now I guess, just been so used to popping a pill & not thinking about anything down there, which is great...till you want a baby! Thanks and best wishes

Just wanted to see if I could join you Smile!

DH and I decided to stop TNTC this month, I am actually hoping it will take a few months because of work but I'm well aware I can't decide the exact date Grin!

Hi ladies, I hope things are going well for you all. I'm now on the two week wait (as long as my cycle is behaving) although I'm not entirely convinced that I've ovulated as I've not noticed any of the usual symptoms. I've been on antibiotics so I wondered whether this would have any effect? Perhaps my body is just throwing a long cycle into the mix to annoy me Hmm

Doc knows I'm TTC so was cautious with prescribing the antibiotics. He also told me that I am to behave as if I am pregnant when using / avoiding certain things (not in the recent advice 'avoid everything and lock yourself in a padded room' sort of way - just in a sensible 'don't do anything daft' sort of way) which means I'm officially off cat litter duty! Yay! Smile

Can I join please?
I'm 31, TTC for my 1st but will be partners 4th. I've been in the pill for 16years solid with no break. So with my age and the pill I've been a but worried that it'll take a long time!
However I'm being positive, my period came back the first month off, this is my third month and I think I can feel ovulation pains!! My app says I should be ovulating tomorrow so hope that's what the pain is!
Thinking about using the sticks, are they good?
Good luck ladies :) xxx

Hi there, how's everyone getting on? Just had a BFN, does it hurt so much every time? I suppose my feeling like crap is still the stupid pill withdrawal :( annoying to feel so poorly for nothing!

blueamber · 26/06/2013 09:24

hi cooper, how is it going? Are the two weeks almost up?

hi ern I was on the pill for that long too! Don't worry about that, or your age, you're not old at all! It's a good sign your cycle started up again immediately. You could look out for signs of ov without using sticks around two weeks before your AF, such as the pains in your side (not everyone gets them), cervical mucus and position of your cervix. Sticks are quite good, but take more effort and money to use.

hi emdotty, don't feel too sad. It might still be too early to test, so unless you get your AF you still can't be certain it's a negative.

I really like being off the pill, I feel more 'natural', if that makes sense, haha. I'm not sure now if I would go back on the pill again in the future. Only downside is now I have more spots Sad. Hope that will settle down as well.

I'm waiting for AF as well. Had some unexpected post-ovulation bleeding, which is odd, so I'm not keeping my hopes up. Only if AF doesn't show I will test the day after, just not to be too disappointed.

Hi blue, nice to hear from you! Yes I'm very close to the end of 2ww. AF due any day between now and the weekend. Have already done one early test and it was negative but I'm determined to wait it out until at least Saturday before trying again if no AF. I've had a much better month on Pregnacare Conception than I did on the Seven Seas vits and had no side effects so feel better from a crazy symptom spotting / everything must mean something point of view!

I know what you mean about things feeling more natural when not being on the pill. I too got more acne when I stopped and it has just started to settle down. I think that cutting down on booze has had a great impact on my skin. I've not completely given up drinking (although I will as soon as I get BFP!) but am only drinking on special occasions which has only been 2-3 times in the last 2-3 months so nothing major.

I'll let you know how things go with the testing this weekend if I manage to get that far without AF turning up! Good luck to everyone else too Smile

Hi Vikkijayne, I'm in the same boat, my last bleed was a withdrawal 30 days ago and still waiting for AF, no idea when to expect it! Good signs about OPK though, Good luck :)

Thanks Em and welcome Vikki! Coming off the pill can be quite unpredictable but I've got my fingers crossed for you!

It's crazy how you spend so long trying to not get pregnant thinking that if you mess up your pill etc just once then it will definitely happen... And then when it comes to TTC it turns out its not quite as simple as that.

I agree with you cooperCat I remember missing a pill and worrying like mad, i guess it always a chance but it can also take months or years strange stuff this ttc business

emdottyjackson · 30/06/2013 09:14

Sorry if this has been covered before but to those who came off pill how long did you wait for your first AF? I'm now 34 days after withdrawal & still waiting...tests have been negative, but feeling quite unwell & boobs are really sore, I feel I might combust soon if I don't have a period! Confused

Report
CooperCat · 30/06/2013 11:21

Hi Em, I posted earlier in June (on this thread so should be easy to find) about my experience of coming off the pill. I can completely understand how you feel. I think it takes a little while for things to settle down, especially if you've been on the pill for a while. It can be very frustrating Hmm

Report
blueamber · 30/06/2013 12:15

Hi em, it really differs! I had my withdrawal bleed beginning of May and am expecting first AF any day now. I didn't ov until two weeks ago, that's why. I blame me taking multiple strips before stopping, causing my hormones to take longer to settle!

Hi all, I'm new to mumsnet. I've just come off the pill a couple days ago after 6 years of being on it, currently trying to live a healthier lifestyle, get to know my cycle and then TTC for our first. Don't really know what to expect from AF as from what I remember, my cycle was unpredictable and had severe vomiting/diarrhoea on the first couple days. Anybody else get this? I'm bit anxious about my first 'natural' period tbh but trying to think positively!

Hi Darling I was the same and its why i went on the pill in the first place had sickness and all that marlarky. I am on my first month off the pill and I believe AF (see the acronyms list at the bottom and top of the page in the menu) has just srated to show up and for me it was 28 days from first withdrawal bleed to today. I Ovd 13 days ago as I used OPKs and do my temp each day. I have found it intresting to see how my temp changes and how my body responds. For example my boobs have grown and were very sore and tender around the time I ovd. This never happened on the pill. I have felt a fair bit of nausea and a bit of an upset tummy but nothing like I remeber when I was 14 years old.

Opps bit of a long post but hope it helps.
