Hello ladies

I would like to start a thread/bus/merry-go-round to meet, get support and share with ladies in the same boat as me:

TTC baby no 1!

Will you join me and see it through to the BFP?!

A bit about me - I'm 29, DP is 35. This will be our first child.

OP posts:

All the best wannabeamommy, sounds good with the absence of AF. I daren't even buy a pregnancy test, I'm still not brave enough. I think that I'll just symptom watch, archaic I know.

WannaBeAMommy · 17/05/2013 22:28

I just have no patience for anything haha

blueamber · 20/05/2013 09:30

It's weird I am only just getting to know my cycles. I went on the pill only a short time after I got my first AFs for medical reasons, and I have been pretty much on it since then. Now I have stopped I don't really know what's going on.

I thought I got Mittelschmerz (I love that word) a few days ago, because I felt it once before a couple of years ago when I had a month-long break because I couldn't be bothered to visit the GP in time to get a new prescription, but I must have been wrong, because CBFM told me so.

I got the CBFM because I absolutely hate uncertainty and to help me get to know my cycles, and computer has been saying low all the time. I have had a bad cold as well this week and today is the first day I feel better and suddenly I got a high on CD16! Don't know if it's my body slowly getting used to this whole new world, or if the cold has delayed things. But yay!

LadyBoom · 20/05/2013 22:54

Hi Tea! Hope all is good...my zeal?! Oh dear, hope I'm not coming across as a mentalist!! Wink
i haven't been on here in a few days-have been in a BIG FAT AF-related HUFF!!! She showed her unwanted self two days ago...and I was CONVINCED I was good to go for my bfp this month!!! Sad
I even came up with a saying "it ain't over 'til the flo lady stings..." And then at 14dpo...she STUNG!!! Totally gutted...felt preggo!! Didn't even get the chance to POAS!! Sad
So, out for this month...but onwards and upwards (pardon the pun!!)
Fx we all get bfps soon!!

Hey all, congrats on the latest BFPs. I think that I'm giving the whole symptom spotting a rest. From excessive wind to constant peeing, I'm irritating myself and loosing distraction with my work, in the quest to keep the lineage going.

If I can, I'll wait until I miss two AFs (June and July) before I even consider little feet next year joining us at the table. In the meantime, I'll have to contend with DH talking to the cat and picking him up. I am sure that he does it to wind me up and give suggestions. We even had a 20 second discussion on baby names. Thankfully I'll have AT LEAST 9 months to persuade him on my choices for boys names (His late grandma has top bids on any girls names).

Plus we're saving tonnes on condoms, that's all I can say. I don't have to pop down to Boots as often, and thus I don't buy anti ageing creams and whatnots while I'm there. Hurrah!

Where is the sunshine May? I'm still in autumn/spring gear.

Tilson78 · 25/05/2013 18:59

Hi ladeez, is there room for a big'un? I have been ttc since March 2013. I am 35, DH is 37, and this is our first time! I've been charting since coming off the pill in August 2012 and know my cycle pretty well now. However, I am considering trying OPK for the next cycle and would love to know your thoughts. I find charting pretty stressful - when it comes to ovulating I have around 5 potentially fertile days to try and target, but with OPK, you have a more specific 48 hours to know you're most fertile? I mean, in a way, I guess that increases the pressure?!! Any thoughts/experience/preference would be most welcome.

Anyway, Im just glad to have found this page as my neurosis knows no bounds during the 2WW!! And Im just entering it now! Also, I found out today that using lube is a real no no when ttc. Doh! Been using that every single time (Liquid Silk). Now considering pre-seed. It feels like a mine field! There is always something to do differently/better!

Thanks all! I look forward to getting to know you! Btw, I have double posted but think this is the better thread for me as a first timer. Im not spamming, just new to all this! Tara for now.

TeaAddict235 · 25/05/2013 21:27

Welcome Tilson, the more the merrier. Exciting times really learning about our bodies. Thanks for the tip on lube. I didn't know earlier that my A-Z multivitamins were probably not a good idea either. Put me back about 2 months.

Question: how sick do you get from morning sickness, is it just the feeling or actual passing of fluid?

blueamber · 25/05/2013 22:06

Hi tilson, welcome. I read that about lube as well, apparently spit isn't good either, but then women do get pregnant using either!

tea addict I think morning sickness differs, no experience myself, but know that some just feel sick, while others actually are sick. Not just mornings either. Why the name then, one wonders?

Tilson78 · 25/05/2013 22:24

Thanks TeaAddict235 and blueamber - oof, didn't know that about multi vitamins either! What a learning curve.

TeaAddict from talking to friends and doing research, morning sickness seems to change, person to person. I think typically, women feel very nauseous and don't necessarily vomit but of course, there are women that suffer with both...

Bexsta · 28/05/2013 19:56

Hi, can I join in please? I'm 31 and have been TTC since sept 2012. Have decided to have a go with the super Drug OPT this month. I'm currently 3 DPO and am already symptom spotting!

emdottyjackson · 28/05/2013 20:24

I'm new too, just started. Literally just stopped pill on Sat so AF has arrived and ceased activities! I'm 30 DH is 32. Am I supposed to wait for a natural period to turn up or can we just get on with it? I really can't wait to get started properly!

blueamber · 28/05/2013 20:59

hi bexsta and emdotty!

emdotty it's up to you, it's ok to start straight away, but some people prefer to wait a cycle, because your first cycle after the pill might be a bit messed up (or it could be the first few cycles). This means that it's uncertain when ovulation occurs. I stopped the pill last month and ttc straight away, but I'm still not sure what my cycle was like!

I think also if you get pregnant the first cycle, your due date is a bit uncertain, because they base that on the first day of your last period, and a withdrawal bleed is different. HTH.

blueamber · 28/05/2013 21:10

teaaddict I completely missed your earlier post. I am starting to you know what you mean, the symptom spotting. I started eating my dinner when my fork suddenly tasted incredibly metallic. I even made my DP lick it, who claimed it was fine. I got all excited then that it might be a symptom. And I wanted to take the relaxed approach, no spotting, no early tests! Hmm

I'm spending more money now! Getting all kinds of tests. At least the pill was free! Smile

TeaAddict235 · 28/05/2013 21:38

Hey ladies Bexta and emdotty, welcome.

Thank you Tilson and blueamber about the morning sickness thing. It turns out that I just ate too much and was feeling a bit queasy afterwards, so no real morning sickness. Silly me Blush.

Totally exhausted myself on symptom spotting... never doing it ever again ...must be more patient.

Feel AF coming on, and DH is away for work for 2 weeks so will probably miss ovulation peak, am totally obsessed deep down but hey ho, life goes on.

In the meantime found a programme called BabyBaby on Home and Health channel, to replace my One Born everyminute addiction.

TeaAddict235 · 28/05/2013 21:41

...forgot to add, if AF comes, I am totally murdering that half bottle of wine DH left in the fridge this fri night. Not drunk a drop of anything mildly alcoholic for ~ month now.

lucycoco · 29/05/2013 07:25

Hello - another newbie here, I'd love to join you!

I'm 31 and I stopped taking the pill a month ago, no AF yet after the withdrawal bleed but haven't 'not tried' in the meantime.

My only worry is that before the pill (eight odd years ago) AFs were completely irregular and a dr about twelve years ago told me it was most likely pcos (though I didn't have blood test or anything then as wasn't trying to conceive). So I'll have to see if things are still irregular and might need a trip to the docs at some point, but that's part of the reason why we're getting started now, in case it might take a while.

So it was all very casual at first and 'let's just see what happens' but of course within hours I'd started combing MN for threads and info! :)

shoegal84 · 29/05/2013 08:23

Hi everyone. I was hoping I could join this thread as my husband and I have now decided to start trying. However, I'm totally clueless when it comes to all of this, and the acronyms and everything render me completely lost!

I'm 28 and my husband is 34, this is the first time we have tried to concieve. I've been on the pill for 13 years, and have just stopped taking it. Waiting for AF and then should be able to get started next week.

Tilson78 · 29/05/2013 09:16

Hi to all the new joiners and welcome! Teaaddict thank you for the BabyBaby tip! I am going to check that out ASAP! Really loved One Born and am excited at the prospect of having an alternative. As for symptom spotting, I am really trying my best to refrain this month and so far, am doing pretty well ok. it has driven me nuts the last few cycles. Even taking my bbt every morning and reading into the dips and rises is annoying me! Im currently on CD21 but Im convinced this month was a no go as was using lubrication. But you never know.

Lucycoco I started off casual too. Lasted approximately 3.5 seconds before turning into babyzilla!

shoegal welcome. I didnt know any of the acronyms either, but just googled every single one I came across. You'll soon get the hang of it.

blueamber · 29/05/2013 11:02

shoegal at the top of the page there's a link called 'acronyms', most of them are on there. For those that aren't, as tilson said, googling usually helps!

teaaddict Home and Health channel? Don't suppose that's freeview is it? I need something to replace one born!

DisneyDiva87 · 29/05/2013 12:59

Hello! I'm new too (ish)

We are currently TTC#1 and I've been off the pill nearly 2 months now after about 10 years on it (although 3 different pills in that time). I'm 26 next week, hubby is 32 in a couple of weeks, I'm on my first cycle and on my 1st 2ww; 10 days left Smile. I'll have to keep myself busy so I don't get crazy with symptom spotting.

TeaAddict235 · 29/05/2013 21:52

Hey ladies, sorry for the late reply. Long day at work.

Hello LucyCoco, shoegal and DisneyDiva (snuggles in).

So my lovely blueamber Home and health is on (sky) 241, and I think it is also known as discovery Home and health. We have the basic package, so the Discovery channels are not included usually. BabyBaby is on at 8pm on weeknights, and its like OneBorn, without too much of the gory bits. Although everyone on it so far seems to be having multiple births via c-section. It looks a bit dated, from maybe 2006-7. I only started watching it last week, and it might just fill my interests for the meantime until the next OneBorn series starts.....I do hope that they are doing another series.

Just thought, if you can't find it on freeview, look up maybe the discovery channel online or even youtube. I've done that for other programmes for channels that we don't have Wink like the Amazing Race (totally addicted).

emdottyjackson · 30/05/2013 08:22

Thanks for the tip about lubrication unfortunately I need to use it every time so just bought some sperm friendly one! Pretty pricy for lube, hope the one tube will do! Lol Grin

shoegal84 · 30/05/2013 20:26

So, AF arrived today, meaning that in a few days we can properly start trying for the first time ever!

Does anyone else feel a bit scared about the whole thing? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm desperate to get pregnant and become and Mum. But I've spend the last 13 years trying not to get pregnant, and I'm in such a habit of taking the pill, I think I'll just find it a bit strange not to.

Downloaded an app to my phone where you can track AF and other bits to try and help me to figure out what's going on as I don't have the first clue about when you ovulate etc. Steep learning curve for me!

Definitelysometime · 30/05/2013 20:39

Hello everyone, may I join? I'm (just) 30, married and, like shoegal, am currently hanging out with AF before TTC from next week! Eek.

I've posted a bit on Waiting To TTC but I guess it's time for me to graduate! Be great to find some June TTC buddies...

blueamber · 30/05/2013 20:43

Tea addict alas, no baby shows for me! Only got freeview and couldn't find it online. Oh well, maybe for the better, already spending way too much time thinking about babies and the such.
