Just Shagging - JSers roll up for fred 12

Kittenkatzen · 01/11/2012 14:03

Oh, the other fred filled up all of a sudden! Oh well here's a new one....(horse feel free to replace if you want to be fred starter, just didn't want everyone in limbo!)

Fred rules;

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share Wine and Brew with your fredmates where needed.

JSing lingo;

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others.
Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.
Doing a kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce in other posters).
Viroid = This is you, dear poster. The reason for this is a closely guarded secret, known only to....er....well, nobody as far as we can tell!
POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit).
Shagging like something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.
Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into ttc obsession.

DH has done something unforgivable. It's about the Wine ...

We had a stupid little argument this morning, I was feeling really grotty with a cold and he had brought me porridge in bed, and I was not feeling excited about getting dressed and out of the house to take DS to rugby tots, so asked him if he would do it. He went into a big strop (later found out he had also just been told about a problem at work that was going to fall to him to fix, remotely via the computer luckily) and walked out of the house. At the same time, DS was as ever expressing a preference for daddy to take him, so when H stropped past him and slammed the door, poor boy was really upset. "Daddy's forgotten me, waaaaaahhh."

Here's the thing, though. We got back from rugby and DH has taken it upon himself to remove all the wine and beer from the house. He has hidden it somewhere and I don't know where it is! He says we are being irresponsible by having a bottle of wine every other night when we have so much to do in the house, and ttc as well.

I don't know whether to be amused and pleased he is taking it seriously, or pissed off that he just decided without having a discussion about it. I do know that I am keeping my powder dry until the end of this week when he has two nights out planned. If he drinks then, I'll be properly annoyed.

Anyway, booze helps conception, up to a point. And after the big neurological stuff is built in the first trimester, a bit of booze does no harm at all. I had a small glass of red or a nice dark ale every other night (ish) when pg with DS. Avoided anything distilled, though.

DingDongBelle · 10/11/2012 17:43

Leave the bastard Grin

If my Dh hid the wine I think I'd be a widow...

Have you got something else of his you could ransom for return of the tipples? I'd suggest a shag strike but there's no getting upduffed that way. Has he got an Xbox or something you could hide under cover of "responsibility"?

Possibly this way all out war lies. or do I just get too much pleasure out of taunting my dh

Wink
DingDongBelle · 10/11/2012 17:44

Hang on... Booze HELPS conception? Really?! Gimme :)

MrsBri · 10/11/2012 17:51

It must do, dingdong, as I got upduffed in the month I drank more than the previous 4 TTC months put together!

AndIfATenTonTruck · 10/11/2012 18:24

Wine helps by relaxing you, making you receptive to horny approaches, and tipping the oxytocin/melatonin/oestrogen/namearandomhormonin balance in favour of conception.

To be honest we are so cluttered that it wouldn't be noticed if I hid something. I can't really go on strike in any way other than not including his clothes in the washing (he does the ironing, at least half the cooking, more than half the toddler bedtimes...) and shagstrike would as you rightly point out be counterproductive. I am just doing a grump, basically.

Last week he banned fizzy drinks (his dentist said so). I said fuck off to that one. I love a ginger beer. I may actually make myself drinks that look like g&ts and wine anyway.

Bronte41 · 10/11/2012 20:06

Jumping in to join in the JS club...!

Had my coil removed last week and now part of your club! Slight complication is I'm 41 so older than most/all of you. Alas, we are JSers because I can't get bogged down with other stuff. Just hoping JSing works!

I have wine so feel part of your club already!

AndieMatrix · 10/11/2012 20:28

Welcome Bronte I hope you're not squeamish or easily embarrassed cos anything goes here. Grin

DingDongBelle · 10/11/2012 21:23

TenTon: it's ONLY TRUE, isn't it! Grin

Bearface · 10/11/2012 23:31

Oh dear Tenton - I'd be very annoyed if DH did that to me. We've taken the approach that a couple of glasses of wine here and there won't matter and that I can't put my whole life on hold just because we are TTC and that includes drinking. I don't drink a lot anyway - 2 glasses of vino on an empty stomach is my limit and 3 with food these days, and I'm talking small glasses too - 175ml. Such a lightweight!

I think he's being a bit unreasonable, in my opinion, but then at the same time, you have to live with him. I would want my DH to discuss it with me first and not just impose his 'rules' on me. Personally, as you don't have much to bargain with, I'd have to let him know how upset I was.

Is there some kind of compromise you could reach maybe? Try to make a couple of bottles last a week maybe?

Bearface · 10/11/2012 23:34

Hi Bronte - welcome. Don't worry about being a bit older - we're all in the same boat here. Happy JSing!

Bearface · 10/11/2012 23:35

P.S. Hope you work it out with him Tenton. sorry keep forgetting to write stuff in my posts - stoopid brain

Redshoes56 · 11/11/2012 04:02

Hi Bronte. Rooting for you! One of my girlfriends is 41 and she just had her wee ones in the last few years. With Wine, anything is possible Grin.

Tenton - totally unacceptable on DH's part. I think you need to hide his car keys, his undergarments, anything you can get your hands on, until the booze comes back.

Meanwhile, I have lost my DH to Angry Birds Star Wars. Hopefully the allure wears off before my eggs all fall out for good.

Redshoes56 · 11/11/2012 04:05

ding thanks for sharing the article:

"I always advise women who want to get pregnant to take a glass of wine before they go to bed" - Dr Peter Bowen-Simpkin

Bless you, doctor!

Redshoes56 · 11/11/2012 04:08

granny - reading backwards and just saw your "darker line." Yay! Fingers crossed.

Grannyapple · 11/11/2012 08:36

Morning ladies & welcome bronte
red I'd be fuming if dh done that to me-he wouldn't like it if you did that to him, I'm sure!

Well ladies, it's confirmed...defo pg, dh is now talking about spreadsheets/budgets etc...beginning to regret telling him soo soon Smile. But worked out I'm due 24/07 which us exactly 2yrs 5 months after ds...exact same age gap btwn me & my sis!

Will hang about here if that's ok so that I don't need to leave all on my own...waiting for more BFP's & good luck to everyone testing/about to hit 2ww. And happy shagging to those back on the cycle x

AndieMatrix · 11/11/2012 08:38

Ooh, Granny how did I miss that darker line post? Yay! Let us know about the digi. Fx

AndieMatrix · 11/11/2012 08:45

Cross post granny sorry!lol. Yayyyy, another BFP! At least you know DH is excited. Grin I think it'd be me doing the spreadsheets in our house and DP running off to B&Q for paint and Ikea for "cute stuff".lol

Grannyapple · 11/11/2012 09:17

Ha ha andie

Bronte41 · 11/11/2012 13:01

grannyapple Congrats! Nice only bring here a day and seeing good news!

I can't imagine what unspeakable acts I'd subject DH to if he removed the wine from the house!!

Redshoes56 · 11/11/2012 17:40

Off to a wedding today and almost thankful to be able to drink, as my family would be all over me with questions if I didn't have a cocktail in my hand! I'll have an extra one for you, granny - super big congratulations!

BoyMeetsWorld · 11/11/2012 17:59

How long had you been trying for granny? It is so nice when there are BFPs - gives us all hope!! I'm almost certain AF is coming next week. Tried the vino tactic last night - certainly went to my head but I passed out lol not exactly a baby making winner for me!!

ChristineDaae · 11/11/2012 18:03

Congrats Granny!! Grin
ERTD arrived this afternoon, so wine and xfactor today! And must try harder/more often next month!

Grannyapple · 11/11/2012 18:54

Thx ladies...yes red defo have a few cocktails for me!

boy this was cycle 5...& I used opk's this time...think I ov'd 2 days earlier than I thought by using them, so was useful to use them from that perspective. Dh says he 'felt' as if this month was our month, he wasn't aware I was using opk's til yesterday so he wasn't 'aware' there was 'targeted' shagging Grin. But we were on annual leave when it happened so think the holiday theory works (more relaxed etc-conceived ds whilst on hols in Dubai).

Good luck & fx crossed to everyone else & big sweary words to the evil witch who got some of you..

AndIfATenTonTruck · 11/11/2012 20:50

Thanks Bearface. There was quite a lot more to it than just the wine, and we had a big row and a long serious talk last night. Felt a bit emotionally bruised, but we are ok, and getting the cape back on after a bath (shared... Smile )

Congrats granny!

AWomanCalledHorse · 11/11/2012 21:05

Welcome Bronte! Are you ttc#1? Reading around the freds here, there are loads of women 40+ who conceive really quickly!

Sorry BFP was a few days late for before your birthday Granny, but congratulations!!!

Mouse is dead, mouse number #2 is also dead. Now scared of going into kitchen incase there is #3 mouse. FFS we live in a first floor flat! Why so many mice?!

TenTon, glad you managed to thrash things out with DH, hurrah for shared baths!

Hope everyone has a good week!
