Sue, I've just been reading your story and to say I'm so sorry is so inadequate. I've been sitting here crying instead of working for the last half an hour. The cruelty of life is staggering sometimes. I wish you success with trying again, and may it be soon. You really deserve happiness this time around. xxx

Arianrhod · 26/10/2012 12:29

Hey there brown, good to see you again! Very interesting to hear of your experiences on DHEA, since mine seem to have been completely different. I took it for 5 months, had no effect on CM (but then I don't have a problem with that), no effect on sex drive, no effect on ovulation (always day 14 anyway except after a miscarriage, as now), and made absolutely no difference to AFs, which have been much much lighter since miscarriage last December. It did however make me sweat like I never have before, made my skin WAY greasier, I had a lot more hair loss than usual, and I started getting noticeable amounts of facial hair where I didn't before (fortunately being blonde it was only really noticeable to me!). Didn't seem to make any difference to my follies, either. I stopped taking it in the end as the side effects I was getting made me wonder increasingly whether my own natural levels of DHEA-S were already fairly high (remember that the supplement only really works well for those whose DHEA-S levels are lower than optimal) and perhaps my natural levels of testosterone also. I'm glad I tried it out, but I don't think it had the good effect I was hoping for, and hopefully is having for you!

I do have lots of spare DHEA (50mg and 25mg capsules) which I'd be happy to give you but unfortunately I can't make the meet-up so I don't think I can help as I'm at work at the mo so can't get some in the post to get to you by tomorrow. Unless you live within easy reach of Woking, in which case we could work something out!

Cate fantastic nuchal results! I know if I am ever lucky enough to get that far I'd forgo the standard NHS nuchal scan and would go straight to the FMC, they're so good. What a relief for you :)

/waves to everyone

brownstag · 26/10/2012 12:45

Thanks Ari. That's very interesting about your experiences and it definitely sounds as if your DHEA-S is okay already. The NHS consultant I saw recently okayed the DHEA (as opposed to Mr S who said not to take it), but he said it has an effect on about 30% of women, and presumably I'm one of them. I've always felt my body was behaving as if I had low oestrogen, ever since the birth of my DS, even though objective levels were normal.
Did you mean you have just a miscarriage? I'm very sorry to hear that, if so. Very hard after waiting so long this time round. I know it's no consolation but at least you now know that everything works up to that last point. I think the last time we spoke we were both in the limbo land of apparent infertility, as I am still. Did you conceive on any treatment? Do you think the antibiotics made any difference?
If it's no trouble, would you mind popping me some DHEA in the post anyway, even though it won't get here tomorrow. i'd be so grateful. I'm worried that my order might not even turn up next week and I'm like a DHEA junkie at the moment! I'll pm you my address. Thanks so much xx
So ... is anyone else actually coming tomorrow ...?

swlondonnanny · 26/10/2012 14:28

Hi,
Have been reading all your posts ( ever since the first thread ) but haven't posted so far ( not good at posting generally )
Would really like to join you tommorrow for the meet up if possible.
I am 37, TTC first child, have been for nearly 2 years. Have had 8 chemicals / very early miscarriages so far.
Never had NK cells tested but have a few autoimune problems - hashimoto's + caeliac ( also quite a few others running in our family).
Am on Hydroxy - have been for nearly 5 mnths but not on pred.
Would be really great to meet some of you tommorrow, to actually talk to someone who understands how upsetting / tiring TTC can be.

brownstag · 26/10/2012 15:42

Welcome swlondonnanny, and sorry to hear of your struggles. It would be good to meet you tomorrow. Because I haven't been on this thread for a while, I'm not sure who's organising the meet-up, so don't know who to ask for details. All I know is I'm meeting LJ71 at our local station tomorrow unless I hear anything to the contrary!

duggs1976 · 26/10/2012 17:16

Ladies sorry have been AWOL ! LJ71 brown stag SWLondon and me meeting tomorrow in London - was suggesting south bank but don't know which restaurant - 12.30 ok for people - how about strada ? dull but can't think of any where else ? Pebbles and ari can't make it unfortunately nor choccy. Have I missed anyone?

brownstag · 26/10/2012 17:34

Great, fine by me! See you tomorrow!

Havingkittens · 26/10/2012 18:22

Hello, not been around much as I've been away but dipping in and out of the thread.

PQ, gosh, you poor thing! How traumatic and scary to have that experience, after everything else you've been through. So glad all is well with Jonty now. You have inspired myself and OH to do a first aid course too.

Sorry for lack of personals, bloody knackered after getting up at 6 to make my appointment at NLC! Mean to have a snooze this afternoon but various phone calls and surprise visit from MIL have put pay to that and now I'm getting ready to go out! Just wanted to report that I had my final appointment with Mr S today and he happily discharged me from his care into the hands of the NHS after a good scan measuring 16+3 Grin. Blimey! My stomach is slowly expanding and it's all starting to sink in.

brownstag · 26/10/2012 18:41

SWlondonnanny I tried to send you a personal message with my phone number, in case of mishaps tomorrow, but it wouldn't send it for some reason. Perhaps you could send me yours.

BellyD · 26/10/2012 18:47

Hi ladies, just popping by to say hope the meet up goes well tomorrow, sorry I can't make it. It would be good to meet in person rather than wondering who is sitting opposite me in Dr S's waiting room!

Sue hope you are doing ok, thinking of you x

Havingkittens · 26/10/2012 20:04

Sorry, I don't think I can make it tomorrow but if you want a suggestion for somewhere good to go in that area (although not strictly on the South Bank) - there's a fantastic Turkish Meze restaurant on The Cut called Mas.

swlondonnanny · 26/10/2012 21:40

Brownstag send you a pm hope you got it.
Look forward to tomorrow

Coopde · 27/10/2012 00:03

Hi. Sorry for late post. I'd like to join you tomorrow if possible? I can be in the Cut by 1pm if I'm ok to come along? Could someone let me know if possible? Would be great to meet as I met Dr G today for our first consultation and my head is exploding with questions now it's sinking in!
I'd need to allow an hour to get to you so hope someone gets this and kindly let's me know! Thanks .
Emma
Xxx

duggs1976 · 27/10/2012 00:41

Emma of course come along - I met mr G this summer ( thankfully) so yes come along. I'll pm you. Doesn't matter if U arrive at 1pm.
Kittens thanks for advice I'll look it up girls sounds better than strada !

brownstag · 27/10/2012 07:57

Hi Coopde, that will be great to see you. HavingKittens, thanks for the tip; could you send us a link for that meze place please. I could only find one called Tas. Is that it? Thanks

Havingkittens · 27/10/2012 08:31

Um, I meant Tas! Was typing in a hurry!

duggs1976 · 27/10/2012 09:43

Ladies I can't seem to find mas on Internet so shall we stick with strada on south bank for 12.30. Unless anyone finds it. Confused

Coopde · 27/10/2012 10:06

Great! How will I know you all??? I will be wearing a raspberry coloured coat - I'm tall and blonde! (sounds like a dating website!)
Xx

brownstag · 27/10/2012 10:08

Okay, easier for us certainly. Right, so final destination = Strada.

brownstag · 27/10/2012 10:11

Coopde: I'm sure we will recognise that familiar look of desperation we see in the mirror every morning! But I'll be wearing a black coat, dark skinny jeans, boots, dark hair up. LJ is blonde, not sure what she's wearing today yet.

Coopde · 27/10/2012 11:08

Yep, definately desperation on my face today! Please look out for me trying to find you all! Do order food, don't wait for me. Xx

freelancegirl · 27/10/2012 11:15

Have a lovely time girls. I remember our first Pred Thread meet up around December last year - involved lots of wine for those who indulged! But that was an evening gathering of course. It is so good to be able to meet up with people who are going through the same thing.

Welcome SWLdn too and any other newbies I have missed. Am the thread founder, for those who are wondering who I am, started last year after several mcs and going on Mr S' treatment. Lovely to see other people joining and things going well for people too. Hurrah to the expanding waist line Kittens!

Lots of positive vibes from me (not baby dust of course, but you know what I mean xx

now, if just ONE of you could do the feckin' list :)

Abney · 27/10/2012 12:11

Hi all. Just a quickie from me. Survived another terrifying scan yesterday. Again convinced it would be all over but there it was wriggling it's legs. Dr S measured me at 11 weeks 3 days. Now I have the nuchal scan to get over which is next Friday.

Anyway have a good time today those who are meeting up.

Havingkittens · 27/10/2012 20:25

That's good to hear Abney. Best of luck on Friday!

Arianrhod · 27/10/2012 22:06

Fantastic news abney, just Fri to get through, fc that goes well.
