Having recommended this fab little gadget for everyone ttc I wonder whether everyone who has now got one wants to join a thread and keep each other posted on our fern days etc?!

About me: Am ttc db2 but still bfeeding dd (9mths) about once a day. No af since giving birth so no idea if ovulating etc but have just started using my isis scope :o

i dont know how to calculate when the middle of my cycle will be.am going by the day that i started bleeding and went to the doctors.(which was 6th march)i bled for 6 days but the last day was light.dont know how to work out middle of cycle,as do i do it from the day i had m/c?am confused!!if i go from that day,then i should be mid cycle and ovulating around now,but ive got no ferns,just dots!

Piffle, I am soooo excited for you. Glad you have seized the day ! Sorry about your dilemma buffy - I suppose after your m/c it might take a while for things to settle down into a pattern. Keep licking and let us know if you get the magic ferns. I have never had them yet, but am still licking away nonetheless.

Any plans for the weekend ladies (apart from you piffle!!!)?

Think maybe I'm in the transition phase as I could see small patches of fern/crystal like bits- is that how it looks? When you get proper ferning does it cover the whole thing or is it still patches?

Nothing exciting planned for my weekend except letting dh deal with all the night wakings and early starts

my dh is going to his nans house to help empty it (she died in january) and hes taking my eldest lot,so will have a quietish day with just me,dd and ds(whose 6) am planning on letting him watch tv all day and play out (if its nice) so that i can have some peace and quiet!!hope you all have nice weekends ladies!

hi ladies!got ferns this morning!!so jumped on dh!!told him i want nookie evry day now!!am really chuffed cos thought m/c would have sent cycle loopy,but am pleased that im about to ov!any one else got any ferns?

Been at in laws since friday pm and dd (3) has been desperately ill, tummy bug, high temps and up all hours in tears, needless to say bd ing has not occured since fri am.. have not evne done ov scope all w/e as MIL feeds you from dusk til dawn!
DP is away at 5am Tues am (cd 14), so not sure if there is any chance this month but you never know! Will check for ferns tomorrow! I get ov pains usually day 16 each cycle so not had them yet...

Turned out dd has severe tonsilitis - of course this would have happened at 12am, we had to dash to after hours medical centre with her. She is on penicillin and resting a lot now.
Today ferning like mad, proper full screen bizzo.
Plus noting cm as well.
DP is off at 5am tomorrow morning til Thursday night :( So looks like I've missed the boat again with his bloody working away!

did my licking this am,and theres no ferns!i had loads yesterday,so dont understand.piffle,ive got what your dd has got!!been up all night with banging head,temp,shivers and a sore throat from hell.i usually get tonsilitus quite often,but im allergic to pennicillen,and as im still bf dd,ive chosen not to have anything else!dh reckons ive got no ferns because im ill.he doesnt understand that i'll ovulate even if my head fell off!!am going to have another lick in abit,as i just dont understand why ive got no ferns today!

Buffy, I keep getting on and off ferns too, which I don't understand! I had one day transitional, then nothing, then next day a few more for 2 days now nothing!
Have dropped a few night feeds so was hoping for some changes.

just licked again,and lense is covered!think dh might have been right,could be my bug affecting them?(am thinking germs will show up aswell iyswim)
so as soon as dh gets in tonight,i'll be ripping his pants off!!

mine are never thre first thing, I get a full covering after brekkie about 3 hrs after...
I'm day 13 now and have had them since day 8 they were definite transitional ones though.
Very confusing, imagine it takes a few months to get to know your cycle maybe?

Piffle, when you say never there first thing do you mean you go back and check after 3 hours or that you don't do the test first thing? I'm wondering if I need to leave mine to dry longer as sometimes there aren't even many blobs or anything!

I think bd when there are ferns and you won't go wrong!

am thick,what are transitional ones?

My instructions say that they are when there is ferns among the blobs, which shows you are slightly fertile and 2-4 days away from ov. When ov apparently the screen is covered in ferns. Is yours the same?

Hello!! Been lying low trying to curb my conception obsession...however this morning I have.... AF!!!!!!!!! Couldn;t be more excited unless i was actually pg!!

LOL Anyway its bit weird as first af since July 2004. But at least i'm getting back to normal :o Is ov usually around 2 weeks from beginning of af or end of bleeding? I never know when day1 is :o Will keep you posted on ferns! Good luck all :)

My cycle I alwats get severe ov pains on cd 15-17
Sp presumed I ov'd then in my cycle
Cycle varies from 27 days to 31 depending on which day I get the ov pains, usually 13 dys after the pains.
Now this month I have been temping (not very well but even so) I got ferns on cd 8 9 and full ferns on cd 12
DD has been desperately ill and we have been at hospitl with her both sunday and last night, so bding, very erratic but the best news is that dp is HERE, he would not leave his poorly dd.
today is cd14.
So it looks like I'm reassesing my cycle

Mine is covered in an odd pattern today- not really ferns though but not like the blobs they show for not fertile. Its very pretty, but don't really know how to describe it! D'you think I used too much saliva or something? Or does everyone have quite different patterns?

I have only ever had blobs . Can I just check that I am doing it right (it wouldn't be the first time I have got the wrong end of the stick)

Take top bit off and lick the underside (where you don't put your eye)

Wait 10 mins for it to dry.

Put back in lipstick thing and look at the blobs through the green light.

If no ferns ever, do you think I shoudl go to the GP and ask for a blood test? Have had 3 afs now since DD born (year old next week) but no ferns since i have used my thing....

Mine says to test first thing, swish the saliva around your mouth first and put some on your finger from under tongue onto the glass. Sounds like you're doing it right though. How long have you been checking for? I have had some ferns, but it seems to come and go so I don't think mine are corresponding to ov (plus no af). Think its not unusual to have a few anovulatory (?) cycles before ov again.

I had partial ferns again last night I usualyl get ov pain about cd 15-17 (am cd16 today)
So it all makes sense - not sure what onearth caused the ferning early in my cycle though!

PIffle - think i must have had same thing (assuming I obulated. Because I had ferns 2nd March and Af on 28th so unless post bf I'm having huge cycke i must have had ferns in between too (I stupidly stopped testing once i had one lot of ferns...)
