A positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

battery congratulations, wonderful news! Enjoy all the cuddles and don't worry the feeding just takes a while to get to grips with, we all expect babies to know what they're doing but I've never seen anyone start out seamlessly (did breastfeeding counselling in maternity hospitals in Africa for a while). You'll get there, ask for all the support you can with it in hospital (assuming you're still in) and in the early home visits.

duggs boo to AF, but perhaps like pq says there is still a possibility?

kittens Doesn't look like I'll be starting up as a clairvoyant then! But I am sure you did in fact hold it altogether rather wonderfully after your blubbing moment, that work schedule sounds like an olympic event in itself so gold medal for you. Hope the last six hours has been going quick and you can look forward to some chill out time.

pq thanks I am doing ok, keeping busy. Didn't cancel my friend coming to stay the evening after it all went wrong and we gave her a hectic holiday schedule which hasn't stopped because DH is now off work for a bit. How are you feeling? When is your next test this week?

Havingkittens · 13/08/2012 06:31

Just a quickie from me to say a massive congratulations to Battery! Lovely news.

Arianrhod · 13/08/2012 08:27

And another very quickie from me, huge congratulations battery!

OK, I think this was last done on the 6th August (thanks Olives!) so am adding 7 days to the pregnant folk and adding Battery to the babies list! You don't have to keep the list going if you don't want to - it's just it was always MN tradition to have one and also it has been invaluable to those of us counting off weeks and days and landmarks when pregnant. I realise that it can be disheartening when there's times of no progress for some but hopefully that will soon change. IMO it's worth keeping up - stats wise, inspiration wise and for many more. It seems to have ended up as my list - but it wasn't started by me and it used to be updated by everyone! I won't always have the time though so feel free to either run with it or not. It's easy to update, just look out for other people's news (or add/change news yourself) and then add the intervening days since the last update to the pregnant people.

Here we go:

sarahs999 · 13/08/2012 14:35

Oh and also - congrats battery!

LJ71 · 13/08/2012 19:39

Scooter - I weaned 5mg every 4 days this time, and it was much better for me than last time when we did every 3 days (realy got nasty headaches then). Yes, I was on 40mg.

LJ71 · 13/08/2012 19:42

Have had to postpone my appt tom with Mr S as they haven't got all my test results. Bloody nightmare as I have a day off to go there, and can't see him now till nearly the end of Sept by the time he has his holiday and then we are busy for a couple of Saturdays.

Really wanted to get the results of the testing on the "products" following the ERPC, so we can categorically decide to stop trying (which was the agreement), or perhaps try one last time if there was a problem with the baby (rather than the nkc medicine just not working for me).

Bertha337 · 14/08/2012 20:29

Congrats battery

Had my nuchal scan a week ago, and everything is 'normal.' Estimated due date has been finally set as 22 February 2013 - which puts me at 12+4 today and confirms above dating calendar. So that's a couple of reliefs!

Started weening myself off the pred this week, down from 25mg to 15 as of today. It is horrendous- I have had aches and headaches and feel sick. I really didnt have many problems with the steroids, but I really dont like how I feel at the moment and hope that it wont tske long after my last pill for me to start feeling more balanced.

For those who haven't started weening yet, I would seriously consider weening more slowly. I don't know if stepping down by 5mg over 4 days is any better than 3; but it's just an idea. (Especially if the drugs are via the NHS)

Waves to everyone else.

GreenOlives · 14/08/2012 20:49

Hi ladies,

Had my Nuchal scan today and like Bertha everything appears normal. Big congrats by the way Bertha Grin. They gave me a due date of 22nd Feb too but I'm sticking with my date of 24th Feb because it's my wedding anniversary and I feel like its a good omen Told DS and although initially not that interested he has been asking lots of questions about the baby this evening and has been showering my belly with kisses and tickles and asking if the baby likes it! Ver cute. I too had dreadful headaches and nausea Sun and Mon when reducing to 20mg but I have been ok today. Will have to see what happens when I go down to 15mg tomorrow - it does feel quite scary coming off it Confused

Hope everyone is well, waves to all.

Havingkittens · 14/08/2012 20:50

Brilliant news Bertha!, getting past the Nuchal milestone has got to be a massive relief. Sorry to hear you're having a bad time weaning off.

LJ, that's a bugger having your appointment cancel like that. Especially loosing holiday time for it to boot. I hope you get your results soon.

I have emerged from my working frenzy and will be having a very lazy day tomorrow! I'm still not feeling especially pregnant, which obviously worries me, quite a bit. Not much I can do though but wait for my scan, which is on Thursday week at the EPU at St Helier's in Mr S's absence. I hope they will be kind to me, seeing as it's not at the hands of someone who specifically deals with recurrent miscarriage. Maybe they will be more used to dealing with cases like ours what with Mr S having an NHS clinic there. Let's hope so.

freelancegirl · 14/08/2012 21:39

Great news for both bertha and olives! Such a relief and a huge milestone. But sorry to hear about your appointment troubles LJ. Just popping in to say to kittens that I found at Epsom at least people were definitely more aware of our type of case and most people I saw were aware of Mr S' work. It was winderful not having people stare blankly at me when I mentioned high NKC. Hopefully st helier will be the same for you.

Hope everyone else is ok xx

Havingkittens · 14/08/2012 22:17

Thanks for the reassurance free. "Winderful" hahahaha, that's how I am feeling these days! I've turned into the incredible farting woman. Sexy!

mercator · 15/08/2012 06:21

Battery yay fantastic news congratulations on the safe arrival of your son! Hope you make a speedy recovery after the section.

duggs so sorry to hear Af arrived :-(

olives and Bertha congrats on reaching the milestones.

kittens glad you're over the worst with work hopefully you can kickback a bit.

Gutted this end as we lost the house we were trying to buy down to sealed bids. Just feels like a roller coaster we're on at the moment with nothing but disappointment. I know it's only a house but I'd stupidly moved the furniture in (in my head). Anyway now time to focus on the baby arriving.

Hope everyone else is well!

Bertha337 · 15/08/2012 07:35

olives Great news! 'normal' has never been such an exciting word! I was a bit concerned about baby's heartbeat-but was told it was likely so fast due to mom being anxious. (there was a big screen in the room...if hb wasnt present i would know at same time as sonographer!) But the little ticker was ticking. Glad to hear your weening is going well.

Was told by a midwife friend of mine that I should ask my midwife to have a little go with the Doppler at my next appointment - she's sure that if I explain that I am a bit concerned about the weening and heartbeat that only a brut would say no.

kittens I second free. I was meant to have all my early scans at St. Heliers. When I cancelled due to travel time the department called to explain the importance. You should be in good hands.

Bertha337 · 15/08/2012 07:37

merc sorry to hear u lost out on the house. I know where your coming from!

suemays · 15/08/2012 22:44

battery congrats on your fantastic news! It's happy endings like yours that help the rest of us to keep going!
I think it was you who had a strange thing happen at the beginning of your pregnancy to give you hope. I had a similar thing on holiday last week. I was sitting on a sun lounger next to dd and dh and a butterfly landed on my stomach exactly where I use the Doppler. It stayed there for a few minutes until I put my hand out and it sat on my hand. It then flew off and went straight back to the same place on my stomach. V strange and my aunt who is spiritual said it was very good luck and was a message of love. I am happy to get as much good luck as possible!

kittens glad you have survived the Olympics and can now have a rest! You will probably start worrying about the pregnancy now you have more time on your hands.

bertha and olives congrats the nuchal scan, it's such a relief to get the all clear after getting to this stage.

scooter my acupuncturist was James Whelpton based in Marlow at the acupuncture clinic. He works on a Saturday so you could make the hour trip over but maybe you should try to find one locally who is part of the acupuncture fertility network?

suemays · 15/08/2012 22:53

I had my last set of intrallipids today at nlc (16 weeks). Mr s said I need to go back in again around 22-24 weeks preg to discuss coming off the hydroxy. I guess it all helps with his holiday fund! I won't need any more intrallipids though thank god! Looks like standard practice now for v high nkc is intrallipids at 16 weeks. Scan was good with the baby measuring the correct size for my dates.

Havingkittens · 15/08/2012 23:22

That's wonderful news sue.

Trust me, I've already started worrying! Why am I not as tired as I should be? Why don't I have sore knockers? Why am I not waking up ravenous? etc. etc. I have been pregnant enough times to know that each one is different and also that symptoms do not necessarily mean anything either, so I'll just have to try and go with the flow.

duggs1976 · 16/08/2012 06:57

Fab news sue! kittens I've told myself id pretend i was in the US and id get an HCG blood test ( they'd know if it was a good reading for your dates -then another in 2 days time) to see if they've doubled. If they have or there abouts then youre heading in right direction. That is if your mind can't take another week Mentalling?!

AmyHS · 16/08/2012 13:11

Hi ladies, I Hope it's ok for me to join your thread. It's great to have support of others in a similar position, though I wish we weren't going through this (if you know what I mean)

I am 31 with no children. I've had had 5 MCs and have been diagnosed with under active Thyroid and High NK cells through Mr Shehata, currently 10DPO on my 2nd cycle of sterroids and just got a BFN :-(

Amy
x

Havingkittens · 16/08/2012 16:59

Hi amy, welcome to the thread. So sorry to hear of your losses. You will find a lot of empathy here as well as a mine of information and hopefully some encouragement from the list of successful pregnancies that have resulted from Mr S's treatment.

duggs, I am going to hold out I think. I am actually feeling pretty wiped out and crappy at the moment. Have not been able to do much since yesterday morning. I can't work out whether I have a bit of a bug or something, or whether it's all just caught up on me, what with being pregnant too, or whether it's the steroids that are making me feel so lousy. I really hope it's not the latter as I have a good few weeks to get through yet (fingers crossed). The 25mg made me feel pretty lousy, which is why, after 18 months of TTC Mr S put me on the Hydroxy instead but now I'm pregnant I am on both Hydroxy and 40mg pred. I feel really dizzy and spaced out and too tired to think properly.

suemays · 16/08/2012 18:39

kittens how many weeks are you now as I felt fine until I was around 9 weeks and then the sickness, tiredness and feeling crappy most of the time hit me! Sounds like you are having pregnancy symptoms!

amy welcome to the thread. I hope you also find us supportive and have success with mr s.

Havingkittens · 16/08/2012 19:38

I will be 6 weeks tomorrow sue.
