Hey PQ. Humira is because I have high TNF alpha - 31+ is high; mine was 45! Another possible explanation for why two mc's on Pred and hydroxy at least. The treatment is two humira injections two weeks apart. Scary potential side effects :( but if it does the trick then you take the risk don't you?!

Means I'm on ice still for ~10 weeks incl the six week hydroxy lead in period. Drumming my fingers a bit now tbh... Even tho I'm doing something by letting it do it's thing I'm still circling the shallow end.

Oh, DH has a new job, better by the sound of it, starts Monday :)

You keep your legs crossed hun!

Its nice to see lots of positive news on here lately. Keep it up girls!

Btw having been in several locations during my two lots of intralipids, I am able to tell you kittens that the wifi can be a bit slow if you're in a room a long way from the router. But if it's quiet you could just drag the drip into reception. When are you going?

For what it's worth, I have always conceived easily (usually first or second time, longest was 4 months). This pregnancy took four months on the pred. I'm 41 (42 next month).

Before I forget to ask, does anyone know if there is accessible Wifi or BT Open zone at NLC? Just wondering if it's worth taking my iPad to keep me busy during my intralipids next Tuesday (assuming I need them) or just a book.

Hello, just jumping in as am a thyroid-sufferer so might be able to help - your T4 went up to 23? That's not all that high, mine is normally around 22, I don't feel good if it's below 20. My own understanding is that not having enough is more of a problem in pregnancy than too much. Try not to stress (ha).

Megmum thank you so much for the positive wOrds I had such a wobble yesterday my fault I went and did a clear blue test and it only said 2-3 weeks im sure it should be 3 + as im supposed to be 5+3 to and to top it off i went to see my endocrinologist as my thyroid always goes mad. He put me up to 175 mg when pregnant so only 10days ago but my thyroid had jumped to 23.4! The last time it did that I had s mc. So now I'm meditating for England 4 times a day haaaa my dh thinks I have lost it.
Does anyone else have a similar experience with thyroid it drives me mad I'm back down to 150 now so hope its not too late. Only 6 more data till my scan.

Kittens I can't believe your flat mate not sure if I would be more paged up about the chicken or shower nerve of her!!!

I used to be an easy conceiver. I was pregnant 6 times in 2.5 years. It's only this time that it's taken me 18 months to conceive, even with "help". Whether that is to do with being on pred from ovulation every month or whether it's being over 40 that's been the problem, who knows!

Report
PQ77 · 29/08/2012 21:54

What duggs said Smile I am an easy conceiver, even on pred, but I seem not to be able to carry babies for 40 weeks (why do things the easy way)

choccy I'm lost - what's the humira for? Sorry if I am being slow. How are you and your Dh? Is he job hunting or taking some time out? been thinking of you.

kittens I am a slatternly carnivore but raw chicken on a wooden chopping board would send me over the edge...

willitbe v interesting to hear about your friend - I was becoming quite institutionalised after a week so I can only imagine what she must feel after weeks and weeks. I met some really nice women though - always someone who's had a worse time than you to put things in perspective!

Had my daily check up today - I'm feeling really tired and a bit down but the baby seems to be fine (how he can be with no amniotic fluid is still beyond me but anyway...). The plan seems to be a CS at 34 weeks if I can make it that long, but in the meantime the consultant really wants me to get to 32 weeks which is this sunday. The stats for various complications improve markedly at that point. Fingers and legs crossed.

I'm too superstitious (and tired) to do anything useful like wash baby clothes, buy nappies, or construct the crib so I feel like I am in limbo a bit. I have, however, resisted the urge to deal with work emails so things can't be that bad!

I've got a theory that unless you are "lucky" enough (no one on this board is lucky in fertility stakes bukwim) to fall pregnant within first 3 cycles of any given attempt then you are onto a long old ride of god knows what. There were def 2 distinct camps and the sue and kittens were in latter camp with the free and pq in first quick camp. Me and pebbles and euro and ari have no camp and are wandering refugees and poor choccy and scooter seem quick but dr s hasn't proven he has discovered their issues. With my DH sperm fragmentation quality as it was literature says I have a 1% chance of giving birth to a live baby. Luckily they identified an infection and he's had strong antibiotics which should improve the rate we will re test in October but just can't believe how little they consider the male contribution. ( this is with 200 million, motile forward
Moving sperm) so v v glad sue put me onto dr g.

So if u r on pred and not getting pregnant easily I would suggest u look at wider picture. I would have hate to have given up as we nearly did in April.

I have been away for a while again, great to see so much good news. I am totally mentalling and hoping one of you wise ladies will settle me down! Im on cyclogest following ovulation and pred 25mg - I am 9dpo. feeling really hot and dizzy and boobs hurt. Been stupidly testing since 7dpo and guess what all negatives. I know i should step away fromthe tests but i cant help my self and i know that the cyclogest makes you feel pregnant - any other girls had similar symptoms?

Another theory - how many of you have fallen pregnant on prednisolone? With Sue and Kittens falling preggers off of it I wondeer if it does hinder conception?

Good luck to all those at the top of the third trimester and waves to everyone else

apologies for being mental!

Hi Cornflakes. Poor you. 5 september not long (but feels like an eternity). Embrace the symptoms and publicly boob squish if you need to. I do not give a hoot that it looks like I am gratifying myself in public, I need the reassurance (and last time, which I am regarding as a blip so as not to mental) aside, it's massively reassuring to ensure the boobs are still tender and you feel sick etc. I think two lucky number 7s will be the case. Positive visualisation of the elation you will feel when the little white flash appears on the screen at your scan xxx It's such a rollercoaster and I don;t know about you all, but I just constantly need to verbalise every single feeling I get, so a conversation goes something like this:
me: I feel really pregnant right now and sick;
DH: good;
me (2 seconds later): my boobs aren't so sore, I'm panicking now;
DH: don;t panic, until there is a sign otherwise, everything is fine:
me (3 seconds later): I need a wee, that's good isn't it but I only weed twice last night but three times the night before?; and so on and on and on until 12 weeks. It's mental torture.

The odd glass of wine won't hurt you know, just to calm you down a bit, if you feel like it.

Poor you kittens. I am sure lodger was oblivious to everything, she won't have noticed the cyclogest if she hasn't noticed you're veggie and chopped chicken on your board. grrrr indeed.

I am down to 7.5 mg of pred now and headaches subsiding and finally the pregnancy hormone gone which made me crashingly low but now weridly a bit better. I am making an executive decision that we are not waiting and are cracking on with it. DH so desperate for any sort of physical contact he will probably cave in!!!

On acupuncture, I see a lovely lady called Archna Patel in Balance the Clinic in Chelsea (a bit pricey but she's lovely). She saw me yesterday and I feel better, physically and emotionally. I am not sure whether she really has any effect on the outcome of my pregnancies, but I believe she does and it's whatever gets you through.

Another word to the wise...

If anyone gets given Humira I recommend getting your dr or a nurse to administer it for you unless you're proficient at injecting yourself. It's so inhumanly expensive it's just not worth "giving it a go" yourself. (No I haven't had an accident with it myself, luckily. But I'm now waiting to have the first injection done with my second of two pen syringe things...)

kittens I'd feel the same as you frankly. She pays for an en suite shower. End of story.

A word to the wise....

If you want to avoid giving yourself a small heart attack, either steer clear of eating excessive amounts of beetroot or remind yourself of the fact every time you go to the loo! I had a delicious roasted beetroot salad last night but the red wee is not what I need to be seeing right now.

I need a bit of a rant. I'm slightly stressed as I've been back from my weekend all of about 36 hours and so far our new lodger has moved a pile of magazines from the side of the sofa which had one of my forms from NLC and the leaflet for The Miscarriage Clinic tucked under it. She also left evidence the she used our bath (she has her own shower room), which I wouldn't give much thought to, except my boxes of Cyclogest were out on the side. Maybe I should be more careful with my private stuff but a she rents the room with an en suite bathroom I didn't really think I needed to be quite so careful. OH thought I was getting worked up unnecessarily but it kind of annoyed me. Then, just to really cheer me up, she used my wooden chopping board to cut up raw chicken Shock, even if I wasn't a vegetarian this would bother me as it's a salmonella risk. Another thing I don't really need to add to my mentalling! Grrrrr! I think I'm going to have to go and buy a plastic one for her to use.

It's very quiet in here. Where is everybody?

PQ, all ok with you?

Sounds like a good measurement Sarah. Fingers crossed for good blood results too.

Duggs, yes, I still can't help but wonder whether the not taking pred until BFP was part of the reason I got pregnant. Although that wasn't the reason Mr S took me off it. I think he would still dismiss the theory. I asked if I could come off it because I'd been on it for over a year and didn't want to just keep on taking it indefinitely as I didn't even know if I was going to get pregnant and it was making me feel pretty crappy. Something I always said I would deal with if there was a means to an end but not ideal when it's 3 weeks (inc ill effects of coming off it) out of every month for over a year.

Cornflakes, welcome back and congratulations. Scary times, I know, but just try to take things one step at a time. This is my 7th too so I'm also hoping it's a lucky number!

jemima, I can't say much about symptoms at 10.5 weeks as it's been a very long time since I've been that far along but I do know that symptoms fluctuate sometimes at any stage.

PQ, glad the little one is staying put. Bet you're pleased to be in your own bed. Hang in there, all 3 of you!

My non drinking went unmentioned, I'm happy to say. Most of the drinking, unsurprisingly, was amongst the men folk who were all so busy bellowing at each other that they probably wouldn't have noticed anyway. Maybe others did but decided to let us tell them in our own time. Who knows. We told OH's mum, who in her usual manner reacted in her OTT way of bursting into tears and then being completely away with the fairies for the next hour or so. I always find it really off putting and don't want to tell her for that reason as I want to be as low key as possible about it but there you go. She's rather an emotional woman! I must admit it was a bit of a stressful weekend. My tiredness really kicked in, as did my constipation. Two things which really don't mix well with sharing a house with 11 others! Some parts of the weekend were nice but I must say, I'm very pleased to be home! Good timing too as this morning was my first "waking up ravenous at 5am and having to sneak down to the kitchen" day, which also would've been a bit suspicious over there.

Ari, as you ask, my new skincare consists of Shu Uemura cleansing Oil and Purifying Water (which is a foam cleanser you use after the oil) and Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Oil. All rather expensive, I'm afraid, but luckily I get a good discount as a perk of my job. My skin has been behaving a lot better since I've been using it, but I don't know if that coincides with being pregnant. My skin is usually really shocking when I get pregnant. I get really bad inflamed cyctic acne. Touch wood, just a few small spots so far.

PQ - I am pleased to read that your baby is staying put at the moment. In real life here, I have a friend who is currently 30+2 and she had been in hosptial with leaking amniotic fluid since 22 weeks. They will not let her out and she will be in there til the baby arrives now. The hospital have decided that they will deliver the baby at 35 weeks if the baby does not arrive before then. I hope your baby stays put for a bit longer too.
