hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

Ooh what's a fertility spell ring?? Don't key it worry you that it's broken although I am like that when I see lots of single magpies!
Good luck with the Progynova.

Mel3062 · 05/09/2012 20:42

Thanks I sound mad now but desperate to try anything! I got it from Abby at moonlight castings, its supposed to work In 3 months, it didn't so she did a boost and it worked!! Sadly mc but thought I'd try it again now it's broke but she said it could still work or i could get another done. Check her website it's got a money back guarantee and it did work, she's so helpful! X good luck to you too. Think I'll try asda for prescription this time

jaffajiffy · 05/09/2012 21:50

pebbles great follie result. Fc for the magical 4th cycle x And happy intercoursing! Grin

Arianrhod · 06/09/2012 09:08

Good news pebbles, and you did make me smile with Mr S's comment about unless you just want to have sex. Good to know we are allowed, officially, to "just want" sex Grin . What cycle day did you see him, if you don't mind my asking?

I've asked Louise if I should go in on CD10 for this cycle (which is Monday), since I believe I ovulated on CD12 last cycle, two days earlier than anticipated and the day I was due to take the Ovitrelle, doh! Since my follies were a good size on CD11 last month I thought it might be ok to go in a day earlier, Louise said yes so CD10 for me this month. This will be my fifth cycle so like you pebbles hoping for that magic 'between cycles four and six' success. Well after having toted my gonal-f all the way to Crete and back, including holing myself up in my mother's bathroom two nights to do the injections (just didn't feel right to be sitting in her lounge gaily injecting myself in front of her and her partner somehow), something's gotta work!!!

Only thing I'm slightly miffed about is, I didn't bother to get my Ovitrelle alongside the gonal-f from Central whatever-they're-called this time, as I always go for my scans to NLC so I thought I'd just get it there. And guess what? Because I'm seeing Mr S on Monday, that has to be Harley Street - and they don't stock Ovitrelle there :( So I'm going to have to pay more to get it this time, darn it! :(

Pebbles73 · 06/09/2012 13:04

Thanks Jaffa, was nearly late for work this morning with all this intercoursing!Wink

I normally have my scan on cd10 Ari and have to do the ovitrelle two dyas later but could only get in on cd11 this month so I would say cd10 should work for you.
What a bugger having to get the ovitrelle from Central Homecare and wishing you lots of luck this month particularly after having to 'shoot up' in the toilets!! The things we have to do, have to say was quite nice having the nusrse do the injection for me yesterday.

Mel3062 · 06/09/2012 17:04

Gosh I wish we could manage mornings!!hard when it's v early starts :(

Mel3062 · 08/09/2012 07:32

Ooh pebbles I so hope this works for us soon! X

jaffajiffy · 08/09/2012 08:55

ari I'm at Harley st on Monday at 440pm. What time are you there?

Arianrhod · 08/09/2012 09:03

Hey jaffa .. I'm there 2pm and running out the door ASAP I'm afraid as I have to try to get back (to Woking) by 4pm to collect DD from school in time for her swimming lesson. Timing is always wrong for me :(

jaffajiffy · 08/09/2012 09:40

Ah well. One day!

Pebbles73 · 08/09/2012 17:34

God so do I Mel although my dh got rather drunk last night night so we missed out on Friday!!! We dtd twice on Thursday and then thus morning, oh and on the Tuesday. Was soo angry with him last night, oh well just hope I ovd on Thursday......

Enjoy the lovely weather everyone.

jaffajiffy · 08/09/2012 17:43

Pebbles, Mr S says every 2 days, so I'm sure you're covered. Maybe forgive him tonight? Wink

jaffajiffy · 08/09/2012 17:44

Oh I read Thurs morning but think you meant this morning. Good-o Smile

jaffajiffy · 08/09/2012 17:49

Btw just had my booking in appt. bit pointless before Monday's scan but ah well. The midwife was lovely but looked rather blank at "super ovulation" and prednisone used in fertility treatment. At least I'm booked in.

Mel3062 · 08/09/2012 17:52

It's awful guessing isn't it. Can you tell me what the hydroxy does?x

Arianrhod · 10/09/2012 09:24

mel Hydroxychloroquine is an immuno-regulator, in other words it should 'regulate' your immune system (rather than suppress it, which is what prednisolone does).

Pebbles73 · 10/09/2012 20:32

I have forgiven him Jaffa but still worried by missing Friday we may have missed the boat this month....
Hope your scan went ok today.

Anyone testing this week??

jaffajiffy · 10/09/2012 22:17

Hi all well at scan. Phew!

Mel3062 · 11/09/2012 01:53

Glad scan went well and harmony reigns at your house pebbles. I fell out with oh last night he was up for work at 1.15 so we came to bed at 7.30 as usual but no dtd :( won't see him til late we'd so hope we've done enough. I know he has physical job and gets tired but why can't they understand how some days are just important. Anyway hope we did enough this month. Got progy nova from doc and Letrozole today. They do have trouble getting ovitrelle. Thanks about the hydroxy, guess its one to ask about in the future, I assume that's the next step from trying pred? Not sure which is better? Have a good day ladies .. Think I should try sleep again!! X

Mel3062 · 11/09/2012 01:57

2 more pred left so hoping af doesn't come early again this month!!

Havingkittens · 11/09/2012 13:46

Glad to hear your scan went well jaffa, how many weeks are you now? 9+4? I seem to remember you were a day ahead of me but can't remember whether your last scan measured you further along or not.

Do you have moonface? I've just noticed in the last week that my face is a bit puffier than normal. I've started weaning off so I'm hoping it's not going to get any worse than it is. My beard is coming along a treat too Shock.

I am just trying to get an appointment sorted for my next scan which will probably be either Friday or next Tuesday and then, all being well, I have my super scary Nuchal scan, which I'm having privately at 11+4 on 26 Sept.

Sorry to hear about all the men being awkward and uncooperative, so incredibly frustrating after all the shit we have to put ourselves through physically with these meds and all the stress that goes with it. Whenever my OH complained about being too tired, or having a bit of a tummy ache (or similar feeble whine) I would remind him that the drugs gave me stomach ache, made me feel tired etc. so just put out and stop bloody moaning! I mean it doesn't have to be a 3 hour tantric "love making session". A 5 minute quickie will suffice if necessary.

Oh, just as a point of interest too, it has been noted that there are rather a high proportion of boys being born on the pred thread and the theory was mooted that a lot of boys are born to ovulation trackers due to the timing. Apparently girls are a result of sperms who like to take their time getting to the destination rather than a mad dash to the finish line (sounds like a bit of a precedent to me!) so if you want a girl maybe you should be taking a longer "run up". Hmmm, wish I'd have thought of that earlier! Although obviously I will be delighted either way.

mel, with regards to Hydroxy, they usually prescribe it in addition rather than instead of pred. Well, once pregnant anyway. I was on it instead of pred before BFP because the pred was making me feel rotten and I'd been taking it for over a year without knowing if I was even going to get pregnant or not but as soon as I got a BFP I had to start on the pred again. They have prescribed it on its own before but Louise told me that someone they did that for had a miscarriage so they were reluctant. The pred is an immunosuppressant whereas the hydroxy is only an immune regulator so the pred would be more effective alone than hydroxy...... from what I understand anyway. I'm no doctor though!

Arianrhod · 11/09/2012 14:54

kittens Just wondered, it was the first cycle you hadn't taken pred that you actually got your BFP, is that right? Do you think your immune system was most likely still suppressed from the pred you'd been previously taking? I often wonder about this; I haven't taken pred now since April, so my immune system must be back to it's usual VHNK state, apart from whatever hydroxy is doing to it; since it's never been tested since starting hydroxy last December, I don't know what my NK cells are doing now.

I had a bit of a scare this last cycle; right around what would most likely be 'implantation' time the joint pain (one hip, fingers, one elbow) I get in a mild fashion all the time when I'm not on pred suddenly shot up on one day; I was in really quite bad pain. Then the next day, gone, and no repeat since. This worried me - what if it was potential implantation, and the NK cells swung in for the kill? Of course I can't know that's what it was, but I'm now worrying I shouldn't have stopped the pred, even though they did mess up my cycles (and I believe my ability to get pregnant in the first place). I was considering whether I should take a lower dose maybe, from ovulation, but I just don't know whether that would be worth it - and whether it might just mess up my cycles all over again.

Mr S doesn't know I'm not taking pred, since he pooh-poohed the times I raised my concerns about the effect pred was having on my cycles.

I've heard that about the apparently more sluggish sperm being the ones to 'create' girls, no idea if it's true. And I also have a reluctant-to-DTD OH; along with his extreme reluctance to go back to TDL to get our bloods tested, I really do wonder whether he actually wants a baby or not anymore. I suspect not, but he's one of those who absolutely won't talk about anything, so I just don't know. shrug Oh the stumbling blocks we have to deal with, along with everything else!!

Havingkittens · 11/09/2012 15:09

Hi ari, I was sort of on and off them a bit as I took the month off taking pred when I had the hysteroscopy in May, then back on them for one cycle and then off again the cycle I started on the hydroxy. It's so hard to know what to do for the best isn't it? I don't think I had any indications of an over active immune system, such as rheumatoid arthritis or anything like that. Although, come to think of it, I had had a bit of a flare up of some mild arthritic like pain that I get in my left wrist around the time I was off the pred, but I think that had more to do with trying to do yoga than anything else! I have since learned that doing a "downward dog" or anything similar is not really a good idea if you have arthritic wrists! I do think that we are all a bit "hyper aware" of every twinge in our body so possibly have a tendency to analyse stuff.

When was the last time you had your hormone tests? Might be worth asking your GP to refer you? That way if your hormone levels are still similar then it may not have been the pred causing the conception problems as they probably would've stabilised by now having been off it for as long as you have, if indeed they had been what had cause the problem in the first place. Only thing is you'd need not to be on the Super Ovulation to have those tests.

Arianrhod · 11/09/2012 15:15

I meant to say, had my cycle 5 of the SO plan follie scan yesterday at CD10. Three follies, although one Mr S pronounced "may be too small", 16mm, 13.5mm and 13mm if I remember correctly, with lining 7.8mm. If you consider I usually naturally ovulate CD14 these are apparently reasonable if follies grow 1 to 2mm per day. Last cycle (and I think the cycle before) I ovulated early on CD12 (hence why I went in early for the scan this cycle) but then my follies were quite a bit bigger on CD11 then than they were on CD10 yesterday. Mr S told me to take the trigger shot CD13, so hopefully it's just that my body is back on track for CD14 ovulation. Who knows?!

Arianrhod · 11/09/2012 15:20

The FSH/LH tests kittens? Well as it happens, I have a home-test for that but haven't been able to send it off because of doing super-ov, as you say. If SO doesn't work for me then the first month I'm off it I'll send it in, and see what it comes back with. It's just my AFs were all over the place while I was taking pred too, and they stabilised mostly back to what they were pre-pred after I stopped taking the pred, so that's another indicator to me pred caused problems for me.
