TTC Super Ovulation...

duggs1976 · 17/01/2012 22:21

hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

Hey duggs sending this from my phone, so hope it works! Excellent idea re super ov thread. The nkc thread is fascinating but at the moment many if my questions relate to the super ov. I feel like that's my first hurdle. Then what happens with the pred! Do you do the trigger shot? Did you use ov kit to monitor afterwards? Soooo many questions! X

duggs1976 · 18/01/2012 09:19

Hey cinni yeah you found it! I did my first SO in nov ( after 2 natural rounds on pred) I only had one dominant follicle but dr s said to do trigger shot anyway ! Next round he put me on 5mg letrozole. I responded better and went for scan day 10 so earlier rather than later. I had 3 follicles and he was pleased with my response. But no bfp. I will do another at same level in feb and am thinking about adding IUI to make sure the swimmers get in there. Was hoping for some advice/ info from others in similar position - IUI adds about £500 ontop and they usually try 3 rounds. Hope suemays joins us here too. . And euro and cherry and snoopy !!

Hi ladies, just doing a lurk .. :)

PopcornMouse · 18/01/2012 10:08

Sorry, feeling well dim - what's a super ov? Blush

eurochick · 18/01/2012 12:30

Superov is taking Letrozole or Clomid (sometimes with a trigger shot injection too) when you already ovulate. Some gynaes don't do it. Others believe it gives ovulating women a boost (essentially by pushing out more than one egg).

I'm adding myself to the thread. I am on my second Letrozole cycle now. On the first one I had 2.5mg and oved later than usual, and due to Xmas falling when I needed monitoring scans, didn't have the trigger shot. I'm now trying 5mg and will hopefully have the trigger shot too this cycle.

beangrower · 18/01/2012 12:51

I'll be watching with interest. I was offered Letrozole in a private clinic, and may get going with it after I've given acupuncture a bit more of a chance. Also waiting for OH's SA and need to get my tubes checked first.

I have pretty regular cycles and appear to have ov'd from last scan but my amh is 9.5 (at 40) so I guess that's why it was offered as an option.

Good luck those of you going for it.

duggs1976 · 18/01/2012 21:28

bean my cycles r pretty regular but i still shower cycsts on one ovary. Affects egg quality so conception and mc. Can be dealt with with drugs usually Smile

Ooo hello, I think I will join you too.
I have been super ovulated for the last 2 months with clomid. It made me feel rotten though so did not have the 3rd lot.
Am starting on IUI next cycle with injectables too (not sure which ones yet, have another app on Friday).
Good luck for us all.

Jemimapuddleduk · 18/01/2012 21:36

To add a bit more info, I don't have PCOS and have had 2mcs. Have been ttc for 2 years. Has been 10 cycles since my last mc. Willing to try anything now to get a bfp again (and keep hold of it!)

duggs1976 · 19/01/2012 06:25

Oh jemima I'd be interested to hear how u get on as I'm considering IUI soon too!

Jemimapuddleduk · 19/01/2012 08:03

duggs will keep you posted! Feeling very positive about it all at the moment, feels very good to be doing something to help solve the problem!

jaffababy · 19/01/2012 10:30

Hi there. I've been lurking on the pred thread and know free from another thread (and real life too!), so I'm really glad you've started this and don't mind me muscling in!
Brief history: 2 x MC then nothing for ages so went to see Mr S to see if I have high NK cells. I don't, but my AMH is off the scale low, so he started me on super ov. I'm on cycle 4 - letrozole 7.5mcg + ovitrelle trigger shot. I have a scan this evening to see how the ol' ovaries have shaped up this month. I'm also doing serious acupuncture and necking Chinese herbs. My bank account is reeling.
Looking forward to sharing the journey. I will post properly soon.... just wanted to get on here!

cherrycheeks · 19/01/2012 16:00

Hi all. Just joining if I may as a fellow superovulater.
I've just finished taking the 5 days of 7.5 Letrozole- this is my 2nd cycle- only managed 1 follicle on the lower dose of 5.
Scan booked in for next week so I'll keep you all posted!
Btw, I managed to get the Letrozole tabs and trigger injection for £33 from Asda, worth the long drive to find an Asda pharmacy as I paid over £100 for the previous cycle Shock

cherrycheeks · 19/01/2012 16:03

jaffa did you have your AMH tested with Mr S? Think I should maybe get mine done as I'm 39 but no-one has ever suggested it.

Jemimapuddleduk · 19/01/2012 16:05

Jaffa, hello! I think I remember you from travelling hopefully bus! I dropped off as was having a hard time dealing with my fertility issues and mcs. Would be really interested in keeping up with how you get on with your super ovulation. I also am in the camp of struggling to get pg and then keeping hold of it too!
Best if luck

Jemimapuddleduk · 19/01/2012 16:06

Of luck, not if. Damn I phone!

jaffababy · 19/01/2012 17:16

Yes I did amh with mr s. It was 0.67, and I'm 37! Eek! He wasn't too stressed about it though and said we could wait to try super ov, but we cracked on anyway.

And I got letrozole from boots for £12 as they've now started the generic one too, if that's a help to people without cars! Ovitrelle was still £47 though Sad

jaffababy · 19/01/2012 21:33

Me again. Just had the scan with mr s and there are two follicles of the right size, which he's v happy with, so that's injection tonight and SWI fri/sat Blush. He said, though, that they can now get ovitrelle for £20, and also that any prescription can be delivered next day if you ring Cheryl before 3. I've got the letrozole one with me as AF might fall on a weekend and you only have one day to fill the prescription, and he kept the ovitrelle prescription for Cheryl.

Sorry- you've only just met me and I'm on about my sex life! infertility!

duggs1976 · 19/01/2012 22:49

Ohhh more money saving tips I'm liking this ladies. It really is interesting - would anyone mind writing their follicle sizes dr s usually says them out loud.. It will be interesting to see if size really does matter ladies Wink glad we r all here and hopefully not for too long !!

Hi duggs and thanks so much for starting this thread. Mr S did say size is relevant, and it depends on your cycle length what day they should be the optimal size. 18-25mm is the ideal.

Here are mine:
Cycle 1 CD 9: one follicle at 12mm. Bad result so increased dose
Cycle 2 CD 12: four follies, only two of them the right size can't remember.
Cycle 3 CD 12: two follicles in the high teens can't remember exactly.
Cycle 4 CD 13: two follies 22mm and 18mm

duggs1976 · 20/01/2012 08:52

Jaffa those follies sound promising. Do keep us posted. Just a tip re the trigger shot - it contains hcg so I did an early test in dec and got a v faint positive. But it was trace of ovritelle. Google it but just a warning I was so dissapointed Sad

suemays · 20/01/2012 09:15

Hi ladies, thought I would join you on here as the preds stopped me from oving so I had to go on superov plan. Just finished my first cycle:
Cd 9
19mm
15mm
12mm
The sonographer said I was due to ov in 2 days so there were 2 eggs this cycle. My cycles are normally 24 to 26 so the follicle size was right for me.
Did someone say dr s can get ovitrelle for £20? I got mine from Asda for £30 plus the letrozole was £15!
