Right I'm going to be bold and start a new thread to drum up some energy for anyone ttc a Jan / Feb / Spring 2013 baby.

Does anyone want to join me on this flight?

Treats · 30/04/2012 23:05

Hola! I thought there was a bit of tumbleweed blowing across the Fertility Reindeers thread - and now I find you've pitched up here!

Treats CD10 ttc #3, month 5

Off to docs tomorrow to find out results of blood tests and talk about where we go from here. Bit nervous - don't know why - but pleased that things are moving on.

SilentMammoth - that's a good tip about the OPKs - I'm going to be using them for the first time this month, and hadn't realised you could get such varying results at different times of the day. I had planned on taking a good book into work with me, though, as there will clearly be some hanging around in the toilets required during my lunch hour.......

Pipbin · 30/04/2012 23:20

With regards to OPKs I'm going to sound like a broken record here but ....

I have found that I need to test my second wee of the day and all other ones will be not quite enough to be positive. I get a fade in and out and the surge lasts for just that one wee. For months I missed it because I was testing at about 4 each day.
So I now have a wee before I leave for work, about an hour after I get up, and test that one.

From what I understand the LH is released just before you wake up. However this doesn't give it enough time to build up in your FMU.

Hope all goes well for you tomorrow Treats, you deserve a break.

TuesdayNightClub · 30/04/2012 23:39

Hi TTCers

A few names I recognise on here, I'm sad to see you - in the nicest possible way!

I've had one cycle's holiday from temping etc, it was marvellous in terms of being stress free and I can recommend it. Still, it didn't bring me the result I wanted so I'm going to rejoin the gang and see how we get on. Smile

TuesdayNightClub TTC no 1 cycle 8 CD 1 AF due 1/6/12

EmpireBiscuit · 01/05/2012 07:20

Thought you could move without telling me huh?! Blurdy hell.... (Obvs drunk from hours of mulled wine drinking).

Well, I've been doing the whole temping thing. Confused by it, doesn't make sense... 36.2 for ages, then shoots up to 36.9 for a day (I'm thinking, "perfect, been SWI fir the past 3 days") back down to 36.2 yesterday and now up at 36.6. It doesn't help that DH is now thinking I am dead as reckons it should be 37.odd Hmm, also if I'm honest I don't know what I'm looking for....FF confuses the life out of me.

Im about to get up for work but will read through thread once I'm there.

Help yourself to wine and mince pies (I checked that they are still in date).

Crazytictac · 01/05/2012 08:03

Cheers for the mince pie empire :o

Hello Tuesday, its been a while. Glad your month off temping was relaxing, and it is nice to see you on the thread although obv you were hoping not to be here.

Hi Empire, glad you found us once you woke up from your mulled wine hangover! Wink Thanks but I won't have any more mince pies - I am waiting for blackcats to rustle up some yummy cakes from her baking book. Don't worry, anyway, your seat is still reserved for as long as you need it.

Hope all goes well at the docs today, Treats, will be thinking of you.

I am majorly pissed off today. As I've mentioned, I've been charting / temping and recording it all in Excel for a year now (started May 11) and then last night I managed to save a new doc OVER my fertility chart and lost ALL MY DATA. It is so frustrating. Stupidly I haven't backed up my laptop for about 7 months either. ARRGGHH!

OP posts:
Squirrel77 · 01/05/2012 10:14

Hi all

Sticklebricksuk - I have been having the same problem (long weird cycles) but last month it was 28 days. Here's hoping it will continue!

With the OPKs, I have been doing them at about 2pm and 11pm. They never do a proper dark line for me anyway. So I keep them then figure out which is the darkest! (luckily DH hasn't come across my stash of used pee sticks)- uurggh

Pipbin good luck at the doctors! Are they doing blood tests etc, or are you a little further along in the investigations? I have had some at the hospital but by next appointment isn't for another six weeks, which seems ages away.

I'm 4DPO and nothing to report except a little more CM than usual yesterday...hmmmm....and for the first time Fertility Friend rated my 'Intercourse Timing' as "excellent" (those of you who don't use FF will think I'm a bit mad, but it gives you a rating each month for the amount of sex you have in the fertile period... Grin)

blackcatsdancing · 01/05/2012 10:53

limeleaf well today is a non-working day so i may well decide on a cake to bake and bring along, there may be leftover maraccons at the weekend , bit nervous about those as i've never made them before and they are for a photoshoot - quite why daughter has to pick such difficult items as props i don't know.

blackcatsdancing · 01/05/2012 10:56

maraccons! oh dear, cross between a macaroon and a racoon , i meant macaroons (as in the french style laduree ones).

Treats · 01/05/2012 13:13

So - my Day 3s were fine, which is good news. LH, FSH, thyroid and prolactin all present in the correct quantities - or whatever it is they check for.

Day 21 test = low level of progesterone. Which is what I expected as I was sure I didn't ov until Day 24 last cycle. So we're going to test again this cycle, and this time I've got to make an appointment for 7 days after ovulation rather than on Day 21. If I'm still getting a low progesterone result, he'll refer me to the gynaecologist for consideration of what we do next.

I'm very happy with how that turned out. I already suspected that the issue was probably with progesterone levels. I'm relieved to have thyroid and other issues ruled out. The right levels of FSH suggest that my eggs are good and healthy, which is also good news.

So, it's PROBABLY just a progesterone defect (possibly caused by stress) which is causing irregular ovulation and short luteal phases and I THINK that this should be reasonably easy to rectify. Or may well sort itself out, given time.

I don't mind that we could have done the Day 21 test at the right time last month (lbot pointed out that there was no point doing it on Day 21 if I knew I hadn't ov'd) - I'm happy to have lots of small progresses towards the goal. I'd hate to have left today with no plan for the next step, but equally, I don't think I'd want to find myself suddenly on the road towards the IVF clinic either. Baby steps........

Limeleaf - seriously bad news about your stats Sad. It's so easy to do - computer programmes should have an inbuilt 'idiot' button to enable you to undo saves, or get back the stuff that you should have saved.

Empire - you need to look at the overall picture. Once you've had three temps in a row that are higher than the coverline, then you've probably ov'd - FF will draw the lines for you once three days have passed. Also, temps can be affected if you've had a drink the night before, or not slept well or are taking it at a different time.

Pipbin - thanks for the further tip about OPKs. I'd been reading the packaging and it suggested that you need to test between 10am and 8pm (probably because of what you were saying about second wees). I'll make sure I go before I leave for work and then pop in and test when I get to the office, but before I have my first coffee of the day. And then test again when i get home from work. I'm waiting for the first signs of EWCM before I start otherwise I could burn through them all before I get anywhere near.

Crazytictac · 01/05/2012 13:29

limeleaf how frustrating! You poor thing. Have a Wine

treats great that things are looking relatively optimistic. All heading in the right direction

squirrel I'm liking the sound of fertility friend. Almost like being back at school and getting good marks from the teacher :)

lastboxoftampons · 01/05/2012 13:41

Hi everyone - AF truly here after days and days of spotting. At least the spotting serves as a definite precursor to her arrival so I'm not surprised or disappointed when she shows up for real. Oh well, onto Cycle 4.

Treats! I'm so glad you got some answers! I think convincing your GP that Day 21 tests need to be done on 7dpo whether that's cd21 or not is a little victory in itself! Yay for good LH & FSH numbers!

Empire - the first few times I used my new thermometer I got a reading of 36.2 also. I actually think that's the lowest reading the thermometer will give. I realized that I was half asleep when I was taking my temp and not really pushing the thermometer into my mouth far enough and/or closing my mouth around it! When I really thought about it while taking temp, I got a higher temp, if that makes any sense. I have low BBT temps in general but 36.2 is low even for me!

Oh Lime Sad so sorry about your temps! Is there no way to revert to the previous doc? Time to use FF?

Blackcat - macaroons for a photo shoot? Sounds interesting!

blackcatsdancing · 01/05/2012 14:11

treats good news on the test front and sounds hopeful on the 7DPO retest, a new test after an ovulatory cycle will give you a better idea of what is going on.

I also get low temps, just looked on FF and saw pre ov 36.32 isn't unusual.

limeleaf i didnt see the bit about you losing your stats! how awful. So easy to do too.

My daughter is a photography student, i sometimes bake cakes for her as props. This time pale pink macaroons are called for. and on the note time to go out for walk and sun and ingredients.

Wineoclockalready · 01/05/2012 18:26

Hi all
Is there room for another?
Month 22 ttc#3 cd7 of 25
Oh and I'm 39Blush don't know the last time I admitted that.

SilentMammoth · 01/05/2012 20:05

Hello wine and welcome!

Treats am glad you got some answers todayes

Lizard what a nightmare! Gutting or what to lose all that info.

Last box sorry to hear about af.

No af yet but very twingey and suspect will come on in next 24 hours.am very tempted to upgrade ff to get my intercourse timing graded!!

Wiggy29 · 01/05/2012 21:00

SilentMam- I think twice daily is the way to go as 10 days before AF due and still no positive, just a faint line every time. I'm going to test twice daily after AF gone but still think I'll struggle with timing. Going to attempt second wee of day and about 4:30. Thanks for tip.

Squirrel- still smiling about your pee stash- I have a pee jam jay that I use and rinse- how lovely!

Lime- gutted about that temps for you. Do you have any good techie friends who could find it? I've heard it said nothing is ever truly gone, you just have to know someone skilled enough to find it (realised that sounds like a quote from a spy movieConfused

Treats- good news about tests- always better to have some answers so you feel in control.

TMI warning- I find it hard to judge EWCM. I seem to have it twice during cycle and also find it hard to distinguish between that and (TMI alert) DP's swimmers suffering the forces of gravity (sorry, that was the nicest way I could phrase it).

LimeLeafLizard · 01/05/2012 21:09

Evening all, I am sitting here with Wine in hand (thanks Crazy!), feeling a bit lonely as DH is out.

I have tried writing down as much as I can remember about my cycle this month - that is the good thing about obsessing constantly posting on this thread, that I have a good record of what happened when. Meanwhile I'm considering giving FF a go and getting that 'Idiot' button added to my keyboard.

Welcome wine! Don't feel Blush about your age, after all we're admitting far more personal information to each other about CM, shagging etc, aren't we?!

Is the photoshoot over yet, blackcats?

lastbox sorry AF is with you, but I guess you'd already prepared yourself for it. Day one of the next cycle, may I pour you a [gin&tonic]?

mammoth fx your AF stays away.

Treats so glad for you that it went ok today... Hope you are feeling good about your results and making strong positive steps. Knowing what is going on and having a plan always makes us feel better... and in the meanwhile you could conceive before the next 7dpo test, anyway.

OP posts:
LimeLeafLizard · 01/05/2012 21:14

LOL at similarity of EWCM and er, DH's swimmers! I have noticed the same thing... ew! Of course the fluids are similar for a reason - designed to make the swimmers get to the target! It can be confusing though.

Yes, Wiggy I have thought about asking my techie brother to come and try to find my lost data (he'd love to be a spy) but I am not sure how to explain that I have lost my fertility chart, then he'd ask what it is, and I'd have to explain that I check my CM every day.... bleurgh not a conversation to have with a brother!

OP posts:
SilentMammoth · 01/05/2012 21:52

He's a bloke, Lime, just tell him it's a girl thing and nod knowingly!

Wiggy I had the exact same conversation with a friend last week Blush. The upshot of the conversation is this:

They float.

runs off clutching hand to mouth

Wiggy29 · 01/05/2012 22:32

SilentM- 'they float'? Like in the Stephen King Film 'It'? Or like a test to see if it's a real which? Should i throw my pantaloons in the river& if they float it's swimmers and if they sink it's ewcm? Who knows, I find this all very confusing (takes long slurp of gin& tonic).

Lime- perhaps you could tell your brother it's a work chart? Or is it called something too obvious?

Wiggy29 · 01/05/2012 22:33

Real 'witch' grrr autocorrect.

lastboxoftampons · 02/05/2012 00:01

Hello wine welcome! Smile

Didn't I mention my difficulty regarding CM vs c-u-m (sorry, just realized the spelling and HAD to BlushGrin) recently on this thread? mammoth I've read about the floating thing before but can never remember which is which. Besides I already spend inordinate amounts of time in the bathroom poking, prodding, observing, testing, etc, I don't think I can justify finger bowls full of bodily fluid, whom ever's it may be Hmm

By the way Mammoth how are you today? Any poas? Fx for you

lime so funny about your brother - I'm with SilentMammoth just tell him it's girls stuff! And I'd love a vodka tonic if you're pouring! My very very good friend just had her little boy this morning. I'm thrilled for her but she had been pressuring me to ttc about half way through her pregnancy and I told her we weren't quite ready yet but that I hoped to e pg by the time she gave birth. It wan't ever a realistic timeline but still annoyed that it's passed and I'm not up the duff :(

SilentMammoth · 02/05/2012 00:09

But last box you might be, rememberpregnancy is dated from first day of last period! So technically your still on with a chance!

Must admit am sniggering at finger bow ls ! No af so far but temp dipped a bit not very hopeful. Who is next up to poas?
