So - my Day 3s were fine, which is good news. LH, FSH, thyroid and prolactin all present in the correct quantities - or whatever it is they check for.
Day 21 test = low level of progesterone. Which is what I expected as I was sure I didn't ov until Day 24 last cycle. So we're going to test again this cycle, and this time I've got to make an appointment for 7 days after ovulation rather than on Day 21. If I'm still getting a low progesterone result, he'll refer me to the gynaecologist for consideration of what we do next.
I'm very happy with how that turned out. I already suspected that the issue was probably with progesterone levels. I'm relieved to have thyroid and other issues ruled out. The right levels of FSH suggest that my eggs are good and healthy, which is also good news.
So, it's PROBABLY just a progesterone defect (possibly caused by stress) which is causing irregular ovulation and short luteal phases and I THINK that this should be reasonably easy to rectify. Or may well sort itself out, given time.
I don't mind that we could have done the Day 21 test at the right time last month (lbot pointed out that there was no point doing it on Day 21 if I knew I hadn't ov'd) - I'm happy to have lots of small progresses towards the goal. I'd hate to have left today with no plan for the next step, but equally, I don't think I'd want to find myself suddenly on the road towards the IVF clinic either. Baby steps........
Limeleaf - seriously bad news about your stats
. It's so easy to do - computer programmes should have an inbuilt 'idiot' button to enable you to undo saves, or get back the stuff that you should have saved.
Empire - you need to look at the overall picture. Once you've had three temps in a row that are higher than the coverline, then you've probably ov'd - FF will draw the lines for you once three days have passed. Also, temps can be affected if you've had a drink the night before, or not slept well or are taking it at a different time.
Pipbin - thanks for the further tip about OPKs. I'd been reading the packaging and it suggested that you need to test between 10am and 8pm (probably because of what you were saying about second wees). I'll make sure I go before I leave for work and then pop in and test when I get to the office, but before I have my first coffee of the day. And then test again when i get home from work. I'm waiting for the first signs of EWCM before I start otherwise I could burn through them all before I get anywhere near.
