Had a search for a may BFP thread and couldn't see one (please correct me if there is!) so thought I'd start one..

curiousgeorgie - TTC #2 - Testing April 29th

Anyone with me?

OpenMindedSceptic · 02/05/2012 14:28

winkle ehm, no. I have 3 cups of tea a day, occasional latte. Red meat once or twice a week. I don't smoke (neither does DH) and drink very little - 1-2 units a week. DH drinks more.

jaqueline wow, that is a massive move. What brings you from Shetlands down to South East?

Well I had yet another negative ov test - I am beginning to worry that I don't ovulate. Also - sorry if this is TMI - my bits are bit sore from all the DTD Blush

LittleMissSnowShine · 02/05/2012 16:05

Suzy - Sorry to hear about your OH and the cancer Sad Sure this is a stressful time for you both so genuinely fx to you on the hunt for a BFP!!

Openminded - You can always go ask your GP for one of these if you're concerned: www.ehow.com/how_5014523_interpret-blood-test-results-progesterone.html GP / surgery nurse can do it for you...

Winkle - I'm more of a cutback, rather than cut out kinda gal. One thing I read somewhere that I was kind of doing when I got pg with DS was to cut back on dairy since lactating cows produce hormones by the bucketload and these hormones end up in meat, cheese, milk etc etc so that's one reason why red meat isn't a great idea, but if you cut back on cheese, milk and red meat you wouldn't have to cut out any one of them altogether iyswim? Anyway, in short, nope, I'm still having the occasional vino and latte etc

jacqueline - good luck with the move, sounds exciting!

crafty def sounding like v good signs for you, but, yes, hold off on testing. if it's implantation spotting then you won't really be producing a lot of HCG yet and that's what you need to have in your wee to turn the test positive...

no poas, BFPs yet today then?? Boo!!!

curiousgeorgie · 02/05/2012 16:14

Hi everyone :)

No bfps yet!! I can't believe it, you must all be unknowingly pregnant ;)

I've decided that despite the disappointment and moving house etc, I'm going to give this baby thing one last try (and will still be testing in may!) so will someone move me to the bottom of the list please? 27th May?

Thanks :)

Thanks girls, just wanted to see what others were doing.

I'm cutting out alcohol because it leads to me smoking (only 1 fag here and there) plus I think it will help OH if I cut it out. I tend to have half a bottle of wine and 1 fag and he'll have 6-8 cans and 10 fags! So I want to lead by example.

Red meat we don't eat THAT much of ? mainly cause we cant be bothered to cook most nights after work (although I did have lamb chops last night!)

Dairy products ? I read that too littlemiss. And I read that low fat dairy products arent good for TTC either? So I've switched to semi skimmed milk and organic yoghurts.

I just went through my Tesco shop and made a few amends ? swapped any grains for wholegrains, switched cheapy fruit juice to Innocent, cut out anything with aspartame and swapped crisps etc for nuts and seeds and I actually saved money?!

I know this may seem OTT but I've had 8 months where I've done what I've wanted and now I just want to give myself the best possible chance. I'm 33 and will be 34 when I give birth (WHEN I get my BFP THIS YEAR!)

Tonight I'm going to be tested cause it's free drinks and nibbles with work eeeeeeek!

suzydelarosa · 02/05/2012 17:42

Jacqueline - I too have just moved from Scotland to South East (Oxford)... perhaps we can wax poetic about missing oatcakes and Irn Bru! People chuckle in meetings when I use terms like 'outwith' and 'wee....'.

I am now officially due AF tomorrow and no signs... but I did POAS this morning and very very clearly BFN. Rubbish!! I shall wait and POAS on Friday when I'm properly overdue.... I am going to be so p*ed off when AF comes, if she does.

tedmundo · 02/05/2012 18:02

@winkle .. 33 is a mere slip of a girl!! That was a good few years ago for me. I will be 38 when this baby comes along. Boo hiss boo.

yes, two days into may and still no bfps. Surely over the next week we should be getting some good results ladies. I can feel it in my waters.

Tesco do these rice bite things that are quite low in fat and taste good that I try to snack on. When I am not eating choc of course!

And talking of healthy eating I am going out with school mums for a cuzza later. Yum yum. Ladies concieving your first ... The school world is hard when you are TTc as most mums social revole around getting pissed and dancing and flirting with the head. I hate telling lies but it is going to be the classic "headache" for me tonight. We don't tell anyone when TTc, ESP after the mc.

jaquelinehyde · 02/05/2012 18:29

Suzy I'm originally from the south (well I'm originally from the midlands but lived in the south most of my life) so I don't have an accent (we have only been here 6 months) but I do now say baked tottie and peerie and a few others. I will definitely miss irun brew, you just tend to get a taste for it don't you? I also love the fact that I can get sweets from my childhood so much easier up here and will miss them loads but I doubt my waistline will Smile

Nice to see I'm not the only one who keeps checking in hoping to see that first BFP.

CostumeDramaQueen · 02/05/2012 18:29

Hi Everyone - thanks for the healthy eating tips, I am feeling inspired. I think I am going to cut out coffee and swap my usual builders brew for green tea and see if that helps.

My AF is due on 10 May so have been busy symptom spotting, so far:

  • Major emotional mood swings including crying in selfridges on Sat - but it had been a horrible week at work and I was feeling stressed.
  • headache - but that could also be the stress
  • tingling boobs - but actually that could be down to wearing a scratchy bra.
  • constant dull ache where I normally get period pain - dunnno.
curiousgeorgie · 02/05/2012 18:30

Suzy - that is such willpower!!! If I were you I'd be doing it now lol...

RightUpMyRue · 02/05/2012 20:03

Hello all,

Will someone POAS and get BFP please? I think we need some positve action, it's been aaaages since anyone had got upduffed.

We're still on track for EOD, have DTD 6,8,10,12,14. CD15 today but I'm tempted to DTD every day until DP goes away on Saturday. My cervix has started to soften and rise so OV can't be far off.

DTD everyday or let DP's count build up and DTD EOD? Decisions....Confused

CraftyGirly · 02/05/2012 20:18

Suzy I would so be testing now if I were you, don't know how you are waiting!
I can't wait to POAS... got to until at least Monday though I think,, driving myself crackers!

I've had more very small amounts of spotting today although it's a browny colour rather than red like yesterday. I dont think I'd have noticed if I wasn't 'looking' for it! Wink

wish I could just hibernate till Monday!!

CraftyGirly · 02/05/2012 20:21

winkle in response to your question, I havent really cut anything out, we dont drink or smoke, DH could stand to lose a few pounds though. I've started making sure we eat a lot more fruit and veg but dont think we could live without cheese! we only have Red meat once a week, maybe twice a week some weeks...

Christelle2207 · 02/05/2012 20:47

Hi ladies, can I join the bus? Have been watching and trying not to get too stressed out about this ttc thing and failing miserably. Need some company, as DH doesn't really get it and noone else knows.
I'm TTC1 for six months now and currently CD 15 (coming to the end of shag week), testing on my 34th birthday, May 16th but as usual probably won't last that long
Symptom spotting has started already but I think it's ovulation goings on. Seems to get worse every month!
Openmindedsceptic I have never had a positive opk in 4 months of testing (now given up). I have had faint lines though around the time I get craps mid-cycle. After chatting to GP I have come to the possibly untrue conclusion that my LP surge is either not strong enough or too brief, so I don't catch it. She gave me a filthy look when I said I was using OPKs because she said it causes "unnecessary stress" to almost everyone she knows that's used them and concedes that they don't work for everyone.

RIBS · 02/05/2012 20:58

Hi Christelle
Take no notice of Dr. I use them cos I don't know when I ov. I'm not the slightest bit stressed. My guess is, if u got a dark line on ur test ud b straight at it. U need 2 have sex near/when u ov 2 get knocked up.
What has she done? Taken day 21 bloods?

Looking good costume! Especially the tingly boobs.

morecoffeemorecoffee · 02/05/2012 21:18

Hi christelle and welcome!

winkle we are not bug drinkers anymore, I may have a glass or 2 of wine each month and that's it unless its a special occasion (like my dsis bday this weekend Grin )
I am a coffee addict and can't give it up! When we conceived ds1 I gave up smoking 3months before we conceived him and replaced my 10 a day habit with a 5cup a day coffee addiction.! I conceived ds1 in cycle1 of ttc!

ribs personal question here but how often do you examine your cervix and erm how do you go about it?

crafty sounding promising for you! Fx!

suzy well done for holding on!

Cd6 here. Loving being a sahm again! Getting loads done at home and throwing myself into home improvements instead of thinking about ttc!

AF still here. Wish she'd bugger off now! I just want to get on with some swi and winkle action!

Can't believe we've not had any bfps yet!

winkle2 · 02/05/2012 21:25

Yaay me - went out tonight and had 3 juices :) Could have had 3 glasses

scubastevie · 02/05/2012 21:26

Hi all

winkle I have cut out alcohol, caffeine, red meat, i eat healthily, excercise 3x a week, am a healthy weight, I am 25 and DH 29. If I fancy something I ask myself what do I want more, glass of wine or a baby? I guess it all helps.

Day 19 here. Should be testing 11th May but as that's Friday and we're both working would someone change me to 12th please? (on phone)

Symptom spotting like crazy - cramping day 17 (ov day 14), been tired, felt sick and tingly boobs. Fx!!!

Let's hope we all get a bfp soon

winkle2 · 02/05/2012 21:28

Sorry pressed send to soon!

Was saying I could have had 3 wines in that time which is a bottle! Easily!!

Glad I abstained cause I met hubs randomly on the train home after his martial arts class and he said he fancied a beer. If I'd have a drink he would have some if I'd come home drunk!

Well done mr and mrs winkle chops :)

DogEared · 02/05/2012 21:29

Christelle I never got a positive OPK either, and got stressed... And got pregnant! Funnily enough, I've used them this time and they do work, do the surge must be stronger than it was before I had DS2. It's the same brand of tests, too.
I have a feeling that several of us on this thread are pg, y'know...

winkle2 · 02/05/2012 21:30

Im not drunk but my message sounds drunk!

I meant if I'd have had a drink hubs would have had one too!

Scuba we can be good together :) I need to get back into exercise, very impressed with thrice weekly gym sessions!

scubastevie · 02/05/2012 21:35

Lol winkle you don't sound drink. I mean drunk! Ha.

Not gym, I do jillian michaels DVD...she KILLS. But no expensive gym membership and can do in my smalls as soon as I get in from work Blush
Although saying that I haven't done it since ov, as I was worried all that jumping around and tummy crunching wouldnt help implantation Blush

Am I being silly? Anyone know about exercise and early preg? Any link to m/c?

RightUpMyRue · 02/05/2012 21:40

3 times a week exercise? Shock I struggle strumming up the motivation for a 45 minute swim once a week ......and it shows...Sad

RightUpMyRue · 02/05/2012 21:43

scuba gentle exercise fine, recommended even, whilst TTC but best not to start a new and punishing regime or to continue running weekly marathons.

OpenMindedSceptic · 02/05/2012 22:06

christelle yes I have heard that the surge is sometimes too short and therefore not picked up on OPK. I hope that is my case rather than not ovulation at all.

scubastevie I also do Jillian, I usually ease off a bit just after ovulation (if I know when it is!)

I've got shred DVD too - I was scared to do it cause I read it affects implantation too. Another reason why I don't do spinning!
