My sister was v ill yesterday with s&d she is a little better this morning but none of my family will go up and see her as they 'dont want to catch anything' so i am going up and taking her up a little shopping as she has nothng in the house, what i need to know is what do i take? What food is good for her i obv dont want to get her anyhing that will upset her tummy again, but that will give her a little bit more energy?

FirstNikki · 02/02/2006 10:22

please don't laugh but diorolite (sp?? sorry) its a powder you add water too and is for s&d to put salts back into the body you can get different flavours. fruit or plain water and some morning coffee biscuits ? or ginger nuts? hope she gets better soon x

pepperpots · 02/02/2006 10:25

I am absolutely 100% against letting "dad" have milk!! I mean having a taste out of curiousity is one thing but actually B/Fing BLEUGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Those two totally undid all the good work that pro- B/Fing mothers do. They made B/Fing look freakish!! Terrible people!

Right I'm off my high horse now!

And I'm on a pony!! Did any of you see the "worlds Biggest Penis" programme last night?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

WHOOPS!!!

oinker · 02/02/2006 12:08

Oh for those of you that can't.......

I enjoyed two bottles of red wine (shared with a freind) and two tumblers of Baileys and Ice (YUMMY)

That was my first session since New Years Eve..
No more until April unless I get a BFP and then obviously I will not indulge

diddle · 02/02/2006 12:13

CH - i agree with your initial post, we are all reacting in horror because of the way society has portrayed it, but woudl you BF till your boys are 7?? nope. It is very strange don't you think, i understood her explanation of the sucking reflex thing etc, but you're right she was mad. Children get their nourishment from food too.
I would probably like to BF until baby is 2 perhaps even 3, but obviously not as often as when its a baby. But i think once it starts going to school and playgroup etc that maybe its time for the child to be weaned. i have no idea why, maybe it is just because its more accepted to have stopped. but i don't think i'd like to have a 4 yr old hanging off my boobs.

Missedf the Penis programme, left telly on but fell asleep, was so intrigued, dd you see it CH, was it like a third leg???

Nikki - my cold i sok thank you, have wiped my nose so much it has now gone all flaky not as runny now though, just have a stupid cough which is annoying the hell out of me. thank you very much for asking.

FirstNikki · 02/02/2006 12:22

ok... I do believe its penis week....lol I didn't watch last nights but hearing about it now I wish I had ...third leg? did watch mondays enlargement one and that was totally mad, it really was one put himself through that much silicone injections that it was simply unusable for any pleasure and I do believe he is now poorly as a result. tv is is making us all discuss its great

glad you getting a bit better diddle hope the cough clears up

FirstNikki · 02/02/2006 12:25

sorry oinker I meant to have said great news the microscope has arrived good luck in using it and I hope it helps you pin your ov date..

rubles · 02/02/2006 13:13

Oinker - what sort of microscope did you get? I'm interested to hear how you get on with it.
Are you using OPKs too?

Coathanger · 02/02/2006 13:37

Diddle - No I wouldn't B/Fed a child til they were 7 , and I think I did say that earlier, but in some countries it is of benefit as it stops the child contracting fatal diseases so in some cultures it has a place and a purpose. I personally would not B/Fed at 7 - no way!!

I think we see B/Fing a child past the age of 4 freaky because we expect our children to mature sooner than in other cultures. Sending our children to school at the age of 4 makes us see extended B/Fing as odd because we expect our kids to be more grown up. Its modern society, and the presence of good medecine and suppliments mean we don't have to B/Fed past a certain time. But in other developing counties it is essential. When certain organisations introduced formula to third world Africa, to "fatten up the babies" more babies died of D&V and bugs than ever before because they only had dirty water to make up the milk. Breast is the only way to feed a baby in third world countries. We don't have this problem so we see extended B/Fing as unnecessary.

And besides, if you knew what was in formula you wouldn't even think of bottle feeding

Anyway, from boobs to knobs!!!!

The programme was hilarious and quite frightening!! Mind you the black guy with the 12" "tool" was quite cute!! But the idea of 12" scared the living cr@p out of me!!!!!!

FirstNikki · 02/02/2006 15:12

no you haven't he he hard to imagine though hey?

kreamkrackers · 02/02/2006 16:16

hello everyone. well i found the programme really interesting (it's repeated on more 4 tonight btw). i was only able to express for dd but sadly she was born weighing 6lb7 and at 6 weeks weighed only 5lb10. this was because she was in icu and with her having cardiac surgery she was only allowed so much liquid going in at a time and most of that was medicines and blood transfusions. so the breast milk didn't have enough calories in it. the dietician decided it was best to put her on a special milk called infatrini which really broke my heart as i was so desperate for dd to have my milk but i wanted whatever was best for dd. then we found she had severe gastric reflux and she aspirated (where some liquid goes into the lungs whilst feeding). so once she was well enough to try feeding herself she had to have thickened milk in a bottle to help the milk go down the right way and get topped up with the ng tube (tube that goes from the nose directly into the stomach). she never took well to the bottles and because of the reflux it was decided to put a peg into her. she's now on high fibre nutrini. it does hurt me as when i watched the programme last night i was reminded that i would've probably bf her until she was two. i will be bf this time and i can't wait to experience it. the problem is there's not much help for bf mum's around here (i live near liverpool and it's not very popular around here) and my family all thought i was mad when pg with dd when i told them my plans to bf (probably because i was 19 at the time), but i really am determined to do it this time. my dp is very supportive in my decision to bf. i do think people's attitudes to bf should change but it's hard to change people's attitudes.
