IVF/ICSI/FET - any more for any more?

jumpingjackhash · 05/01/2012 10:05

Hi all, we're about to start FET following an unsuccessful round of ICSI last year (well, we got the bfp, but then I miscarried shortly after Sad). But... time to get back on the bike and go again...

Anyone else going through this?

Karbea · 12/04/2012 10:33

Carebear i'm currently having my withdrawal period and its horrible, really heavy and really clotty :(

CareBear1 · 12/04/2012 10:40

it scared me to death seeing all that earlier - well it makes me feel better (a bit) if this is normal and happens to others too. The clots were like a rubbery mass. I'd had my normal period where I'd passed 2 smaller softer clots so thought that was it. Where abouts are you in your cycle Karbea?

Karbea · 12/04/2012 10:56

I'm on Day5, so this is my period but honestly the clots are big, and the blood is really heavy much heavier than i've ever had.

CareBear1 · 12/04/2012 11:05

thanks Karbea - poor us! so shi**y. x

JosieSmith1 · 12/04/2012 16:28

Right, I'm leaving work till Tuesday now, and I'm going to buy my tests on the way. If I'm not on tomorrow, it's been a negative. If it's positive I'll be on first thing

Care I hope you're feeling better

ellangirl · 12/04/2012 16:46

Hi to everyone, esp if you remember me on this thread. Had second round of icsi jan/feb and now had 12 week scan. Pleased to report baby is doing well! Had a bit of a painful fright after ruptured cyst on ovary a few days ago (I was mildly hyper stimulated) but all is well.
Good luck to you all for whatever stage you are at. This baby is the only successful embryo from 2 fresh rounds of icsi, so it really isn't about quantity. Hope your sticky beans find you all soon! X

PP44 · 12/04/2012 17:01

Hello all new to all this, only second post! Just been for a scan and fertility tests, results in 2 wks. Had an AMH test in sept 2011 and the result was 1.5 which I know is on the verge of infertile, is there any point me trying IVF with my eggs if that's the case? How do you chose a clinic? I don't want a clinic just taking my money if my chances are virtually nil!!!

Need some advice from you experts please!

bugsylugs · 12/04/2012 17:26

PP think we have all changed by different ways. Look on HFEA site and to what your prob is for figures. You do not want to be travelling too far maybe hr to hr half max as you will need to go quite a lot. If you are
London area here is more choice. I chose my clinic as friend had good results travel 1 1/4 hrs good results. Communication could
Be better. Did get bfp but m/c at 9 weeks was 41 at the time now 42. Friend 43 is due aug and AMH was 0.53 natural conception
Josie thinking of you tonight and tomorrow . Hope you get some sleep hope it is good news
Italian hope it is all going well
Care grim isn't it thinking of you
Forgot to phone clinic again keep doing so went skating instead Grin have black eye where ds managed to head butt me yesterday sitting on my lap and threw his head back. Will be great for work tomorrow

AngelFairy · 12/04/2012 17:56

Hi all,
Thank you so much for the words of encouragement, it means a lot.
I'm more than pleased to say our cherub made it through the night and is a perfect day 2 embryo!
So we're talking to him (yes, it's apparently it's a boy) to encourage his growth and stickiness. DH is convinced that he is so strong and stubborn that he didn't need his siblings for moral support and has aptly named him Bur because he is so sticky Grin
We saw him on screen before they put him back in my tummy, which was just so cute. Needless to say, my post ET acupuncture was focused on warm, cosy and enticing environments for Bur to nestle into.
What should I be doing now? I'm sure I read a few of you eating fresh pineapple....

So, ladies, how is everyone else doing?

Josie aren't you still on the 2ww? Is donor eggs your next route, if indeed required?

Zeebee How are you coping on your 2ww?

AngelFairy · 12/04/2012 18:05

Ooops, looks like I didn't refresh when I posted. Apologies.

Good luck for tomorrow Josie will be thinking of you x

Ellangirl I really needed to read your post today having had one embryo transferred today, thank you. I am so glad your pregnancy is going well. Congratulations!

Hi PP, welcome to the thread. I am not knowledgeable on how you should decide your clinic, as I went with our GP recommendation, but maybe it's worthwhile getting a few reviews off here and try giving some a call. You're right though, some may not take you on with being over 40 but I would question their ethics on that basis.
Where about in the country are you? I know a few of the ladies on here are South East based and can recommend good London based clinics, as well as others like me based further north.

Care Has ovulation triggered your bleed? Is this normal for your cycle, or post IVF?

CareBear1 · 12/04/2012 18:13

Josie loads of good luck for tomorrow - let us know how it goes or we'll be worrying about you.

Angel that's great news, well done, hope he settles in well.

Bugsy yup grim is the word. I thought i might be hemorrhaging or something but it seems to have stopped now so think the clinic was right.

Ellan always nice to hear a success story, that's great news.

PP sorry don't know much about those levels. We did these last 2 rounds at the Bridge Centre in london, and though we didn't pay as it was NHS I would say that they are a good middle of the road place, service was very good and don't think over expensive. Didn't work for us though. If you've got a known issue like low AMH i would be tempted to research a specialist centre / Dr with a special interest in it. The fertilityfriends site is good for recommendations there seems to be more ivf'ers on there. www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/

I got my level 1 immune blood results today from the gp -all normal except for Neutrophil count which was slightly low at 1.7 and need to repeat in a month. Doesn't really mean much to me - other than i guess it might be low related to the treatment and failed outcome? Anyone else know anything about Neutrophil levels?

ExpatAl · 12/04/2012 18:26

Dear all, I had a 5 day FET 8 days ago and have peed on anything that's stood still. It is super early days but I cannot get over seeing two pink lines. Does anyone know how the urine metabolises the hcg. For example if you get a bfp on a stick that measures 50miu hcg, what would your beta be? Good luck to everyone that's going through the headfu$k of the two week wait. And I'm sorry for those that have had shitty news. I know how that feels.

bugsylugs · 12/04/2012 18:32

Oops pp chosen by different ways not changed

bugsylugs · 12/04/2012 18:39

Hi all
Expat did you check you had a negative before you started poas? Do not know how long the trigger shot lasts for here's wishing you a a great result mind you you are day 13 when is official test day sounds good
Angel glad bur on board here's for snuggling

ExpatAl · 12/04/2012 18:45

Hi Bugsy, I didn't have a trigger this time because it was a frozen transfer so I know that any bfp is a real one.

zeebee1 · 12/04/2012 19:26

My treatment is in Brussels because I'm working there at the moment. I am so incredibly lucky in that here they fund 6 ivfs before your 43rd birthday. We lost our first ivf baby last year so this is frightening and exciting at the same time.

Raspberryjam · 13/04/2012 18:11

Fingers crossed for you ExpatAl.

Hope you are feeling ok Angel - this TWW is agonising! But really, really hoping for you.

thinking of you today Josie xxx

Hope things have settled a bit Karbea

Hi to everyone else on here.

AFM had been feeling very numb past few days - but after work went to a beautiful garden I used to go to with my mum. Had a good cry and later again in the evening - completely exhausting but at least started to work through some of this stuff. And also really grumpy/angry/snappy with DH - maybe it'll be better at the weekend. DD has been a little angel .

Pocket1 · 13/04/2012 19:11

Hello. Hope you dont mind me popping on to ask for a bit of advice. I've just plucked up the courage to postpone my FET (treatment was due to start next week) in favour of some immunes tests. I mc earlier this year after DE ivf, got BFP, but mc at 6 weeks. I just can't go again without getting myself checked out. I am booked in with Dr Gorgy and wondered if anyone had any words of wisdom or advice for me. I've heard that sometimes you're told you need a prescription, but not given it there and then. But later charged an admin fee for it when it is raised. I'm just trying to make this as stress free and cost efficient as poss - since i am over being stressed and broke with this whole process.

Thanks so much in advance. Smile

duggs1976 · 13/04/2012 21:53

Answered on other thread pocket!

raspberry so sorry to hear how u r feeling. Is awfully empty. This is my 4th pregnancy in 2.5 yrs and I've never got past 12 weeks. I know how confusing it feels when u r not sure of next steps. Whatever they r I hope they come soon and your family will feel complete x

Pocket1 · 14/04/2012 07:31

Thanks Duggs just trying to cover all bases!
