IVF/ICSI/FET - any more for any more?

Hi all, we're about to start FET following an unsuccessful round of ICSI last year (well, we got the bfp, but then I miscarried shortly after ). But... time to get back on the bike and go again...

Anyone else going through this?

AFM - it's twins

2 embryos measuring as they should, two heartbeats, two sacs and two placentas. Back for another scan in two weeks (because it's twins) and then I am officially discharged. HOORAY!

Jumping My DH is like that too - keeps saying two for the price of one! But maybe you will get twins....

Have any of you ladies that are stimming / about to ET had any thoughts on whether you'll opt to have one or two embryos back?

We're going to opt for two, if we get the chance.

Not sure, probably 2 to give our chances a boost, assuming we're able to. We had 2 transferred on our first round, then only 1 frosty (all that was left). I'm pretty terrified by the thought of twins, tbh. DH is a bit of a dreamer when it comes to the realities of things like this!

Our consultant helped with his questions though: how would you feel if it didn't work/ neither embryo implaned? A: gutted. So how would you feel if both implanted? A: we'd cope!

According to some mad clairvoyant a friend dragged me to last year I'm having one of each so maybe we will get twins?! [shot-scared face]

Argh - just had Facebook mesage from a friend that she is now PG with number 3. She says they'd been trying for ages - about 2 years. Makes me so mad. I really feel so envious that it's all been so easy for her. Last time I saw her she was telling me how frustrated she was they couldn't get PG - and now she is... Just makes me feel so low. She knows we're doing the ivf, and she keeps asking me about it - I just can't bring myself to tell her how things are at the mo as I don't want her sympathy. So hard isn't it.... Sorry to rant!

Rant away Zeebee! You're among friends here! After last time (when those who knew we were doing this kept asking questions and wanting to talk about it all the time - trying to be helpful, inviting us to unburden our souls, which just got annoying, tbh), we've only told one friend we're doing it right now (had to tell him, long story!). We're just avoiding telling anyone else until there's some good news. It's tough though.

Got some drugs stashed in my handbag under my desk (feel like a junkie - especially when I injected in the loo at the hospital earlier! ) - they're processing an urgent prescription with HAH so I can get a new pen delivered tomorrow and take it back to replace the one they've just given me for the next 3 days.

Scan went well - looks like we might be collecting towards the end of next week! This feels like it's all happening much quicker than last time (certainly faster than the FET)! Here's hoping July is a lucky month for all of us!

ZB I know the feeling. Someone i know who started ttc after us, gave birth to her 3rd not that long ago (i kid you not - 3 whole babies, whilst i have had zero babies!). tis not fair. How close a friend is she? Is it worth tactfully explaining that whilst you're happy for her, things are tough for you right now and you just need a bit of distance?

Jumping, ooh next week is not long, I'm hoping i will be not long after you. What did they see on the scan today? and yes here's to this being a lucky month, and that we all follow Knackered's lead!

And yes on the telling people front, i've told my two besties who are fab, but other than that no-one knows.

Going to stay positive until we test on 1st August.
Lovely day at guys today- as it was a Saturday there was a slim staff, which meant one of the consultants was doing the belly ultrasound and one of our fave female docs was doing the inserting...
All very chilled - we even saw el toukey - the head of Ivf there who wished us luck.
We have another embryo that is going to be
Frozen and possibly more that might be more advanced by tomorrow that might be able to be frozen too/ so all in all a good crop!
Had pre and post accupuncture - just been watching some
Guilty pleasure tv with feet up and now gojng to bed for a hour or so before I need to leave for theatre...
Hope you got your meds ok today jumping??Does your Ec potentially clash wih the wedding you have next week? Hope not.
Care - thanks for advice re my friend... She actually lives in America so I only see her when she's over which is about twice a year... But she wants to meet up in August... Humm

Got my first scan tomorrow. Not feeling that much going on at the moment, feel very normal. Slightly worried my body has decided to ignore all the drugs and just pee them out again.

thanks knackered & Care - feeling apprehensive about 1st august already. Keep thinking I can feel "things" happening on the right hand side of my lower abdomen - have no idea if that's mental or actual...
had a day at home relaxing today - difficult to make yourself do - although the sunshine sure helps.

I know what you mean Care about the paranoia the drugs aren't working - seeing it on the screen at scans really helps, doesn't it?!

I'm doing OK, follicles on Friday were doing OK, I'm back there for another scan tomorrow so hope collection will be confirmed then. My drug delivery came on time too! (£153 for 1 Gonal-f pen, not as bad as I feared!). If collection is late this week, we'll hopefully have an emby or two on board before the weddings we have coming up in the next couple of weeks!

Care. Good luck for your scan, I am sure it will go swimmingly and the drugs are doing their stuff.

Jumping Glad to hear that darn pen arrived on time. Stressing about it is just something you could have done without. Hopefully you won't have to do another round for a long, long time as I have everything crossed it will work this time

I am feeling pretty rough. I am absolutely shattered and have pretty constant nausea, although I haven't had much actual vomiting. I feel guilty for whining about it as it's been such a long hard journey getting here. Burst into tears on phone to my Mum on Saturday. I just have to keep telling myself I should start to feel better in around 5 weeks' time. But time is dragging so slowly - always to the next "hurdle". Currently 9 week scan on 2 August.

Oh Knackered sorry you're feeling crappy. I don't think what you've been through to get where you are means you're not allowed to feel crap and acknowledge it though. Just keep the whining down to a dull level until we've all caught up with you! (joke - but you get that?! ).

Hope your scan today is good Care, I'm sure once you see it on the screen you'll feel better. It's all a fast ride from here on in!

My scan this morning was OK, follies are doing their job and getting plump. In fact, I'm scheduled in for collection on Wednesday morning already! I wasn't expecting to be at that point so soon, as last time I was injecting for 2 weeks so I was kind of working to similar timings. It means all our other diary clashes (2 weddings, a christening) are one less thing to worry about now though - although ET might mean DH has to miss a bit of a stag do where he's best man if it happens on day 3! Small price to pay if this all works out!

Jumping great news for scan and EC on weds that has come round quick. Lots of good luck for it really hoping this round is the one.

Knackered I think you've every right to be upset, sorry you are feeling crappy. I think when we ladies are reproductively challenged the getting pregnant seems like the finish line whereas its really the start. Just keep telling yourself its a nice problem to have!

AFM am currently hooked up to an intralipid drip, and typing on phone with my left hand which is taking forever!

Jumping That's great that EC is so soon. Let's hope you get some fabulous blastocysts and are in for day 5 transfer. Are you triggering tonight? I loved that feeling of finishing the meds (except the progesterone pessaries - but they are nowhere near as grueling as the injections).

Care How long will you be hooked up to the drip for? Doesn't sound pleasant at all.

Yes, I will stop moaning. But you're both right, I think pregnancy is really stressful after assisted conception. I worry constantly that I'm going to lose the pregnancy. This will sound so ridiculous, but I was so relieved when they said because it was twins I wouldn't be discharged for another two weeks and would have a follow up scan at ACU at 9+1. Think I would have found the wait from the scan at 7+1 to c. 12 weeks unbearable otherwise. DH told me over the weekend he was terrified at the 7+1 scan there'd be a sac, but nothing in it or no heartbeat . Fertility treatment completely messes with your head.

Arse. Just had a call from the clinic - Dr El Toukhy wants to do another scan tomorrow morning, so collection has been postponed until Thurs or Fri. I'd just psyched myself up for it to be on Wednesday (and re-worked my work diary around it)! Oh well, best to get it right and Dr E-T knows more about that than I do!

Hopefully they'll let me keep and use the sodding Gonal-F pen I'm meant to use to replace theirs from Friday! Sick of sodding Gonal-F now (and sicker of going on about it)!

That really is pants. I guess they want your follicles to grow a little bit more before they collect. Naff though when you're waiting to go and looking forward to that final trigger injection.

Ah Jumping, that's really irritating. this whole treatment thing would be a lot easier if there was a set plan and they just stuck to it!
